Here in the northeast, a showy flower appears along roadsides and once-disturbed areas from late spring to early summer. But far too often, people mistake this invasive species for the displaced native flower that dots the region. Join us as we clear up the confusion and talk about the natural history of both Phlox and Dame's Rocket.
We continue our Spotlight Series with the conclusion Enterprise to the two part episode with "Divergence". As the Enterprise races to save Dr. Phlox, they must attempt a daring transfer of Trip from the Enterprise to Columbia at high warp in order to remove the Klingon subroutines that have infected the Enterprise's computer system. Archer gives himself up in order to help develop a cure for the augment virus. We also learn how much the Klingons and Section 31 were involved in the development of the augment virus and their plans to sanitize the colony.

“The Shipment” 20th-anniversary reflections With deployment of the Xindi superweapon just weeks away, the Enterprise follows a tip from Hoshi's almost boyfriend, Tarquin, and visits a planet where Xindi-Arboreals are refining kemocite. The mineral will be used in the construction of the weapon, something the facility's primary technician, Gralik Durr, claims to be unaware of when confronted by Archer. He agrees to help the humans by sabotaging the final shipment. Meanwhile, Trip, Phlox, and T'Pol take apart Xindi-Reptilian guns and discover that they are powered by worms. In this episode of Warp Five, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our 20th-anniversary retrospective that takes you through all of Star Trek: Enterprise, one episode at a time. In this installment, we continue Season 3 with “The Shipment,” how the episode quickly pushes the Xindi story forward, its nuanced look at conflict and trust, and a fun science fiction take on alien tech. When Archer finds a new species of Xindi in the database, he takes a shuttlepod down to the last Sears Garden Center they visited to see what he can learn from their ship. But when the away team starts mutating and goons with flamethrowers show up to contain the infected, Phlox uses T'Pol's resistance to create an antidote. Which beverage requires trust? What's more desperate than finger gruel? Who always ruins a good dream? It's the episode with a soft descent into meeting. Host Joe DeMare talks about planting paw paw trees and global warming. Then he "interviews" META, the parent company of Facebook about then environmental impacts of a new data center they are building in northwest Ohio. Rebecca Wood tells us about the invasive Dames Rockets versus the native Phlox. Ecological News includes Taiwan shuttering its last nuke plant and the Trump reversing itself on banning an offshore wind farm (though only that one, the rest are still banned).
There are about 70 different types of phlox, both short and tall. The short ones are used as groundcovers, and their palette is made up of the cool colors.
It's time to revisit Dear Doctor—and who better to join us than the man behind Phlox? John Billingsley stops by to share stories, insights, and plenty of laughs. Each week, we explore and celebrate the lives that the Star Trek universe has forever changed. From former and future cast and crew members to celebrities, scientists, and astronauts whose personal and professkional journeys have been affected by the franchise, we sit down and dive deep with a new friend, laughing and learning from their stories. Our Section 31 Spotlight Series has reached Star Trek Enterprise! The first Enterprise installment into the Section 31 story arc takes us to Season 4 Episode 15 "Affliction". Lt Malcom Reed is recruited to continue his involvement in a secret organization (not named in this episode) in which he thought he was finished with. This involvement, while necessary in his mind to save his friend Dr. Pholx, is viewed by Captain Archer as treason and betrayal. The Klingons kidnap Phlox in order to help them with a deadly virus that is removing their forehead ridges (TOS anyone?). Full of secrets, intrigue, mystery and more, Enterprise does NOT disappoint as it continues what DS9 started.....Section 31!
Episode 30 includes: - 5th Year Anniversary of Phlox Blue Moon Farm; - Joining the Farm Bureau; - Taking Care of our Neighbor's Goats; - Expanding our Garden; and - More. -
When Captain Archer gets kidnapped by a Tellarite bounty hunter, he's slowly talked into delivering Archer to the Klingons with a means of escape. But as T'Pol gets sweaty in the decon chamber, Dr. Phlox comes up with a cure for her horny that avoids having to distribute cages to the crew. What do ants know? Why do shuttlepods have a shovel? Who can be a sniper in the Klingon military? John Billingsley (Enterprise‘s Dr. Phlox) joins Tony and Laurie to tell everyone about Trek Talks, an all-day marathon of Star Trek panels to benefit Hollywood Food Coalition happening on April 5. John talks about how donations help the Coalition expand its mission, working with other groups to combat food insecurity and offer other vital services, then gets into the details about Trek Talks 4 and what panels and interviews to expect (as well as the superhero underwear he may be wearing for the occasion). He also talks about his time on Enterprise as #7 on the call sheet, his recent roles on shows like Manhunt and Matlock, and the practical jokes he used to play on Scott Bakula.

The "Discovery" crew continues their trek through the Mirror Universe this week with "The Wolf Inside". Can Burnham retain her core beliefs even while going undercover among some of the worst people ever? What will become of Tyler when his secret comes out? But when the alien visitors who warned them about the wave turn out to be AWOL deserters, the militia men trying to steal the ship almost take their game of pollo with Captain Archer too far. In the pantheon of comedians, Steven Wright surely deserves a column or three, and in today's crossword Robert Charlton has chosen a great quote to illustrate the point. If you are unfamiliar with Steven Wright, stop whatever you're doing right now (unless it's listening to this podcast -- wait until you're finished) to head over to your favorite streaming source (or library: don't forget your local library!) and be prepared to be entertained. Speaking of entertaining, the entire crossword was just that, and educational as well. Who knew 62A, Flower whose name means "flame" in ancient Greek, PHLOX? (OK, Jean did). And who knew 2D, 12-time Olympic swimming medalist Ryan ___, LOCHTE? (Yes, again, Jean). But the point is, for at least one of these clues, Jean didn't know it and others might not have as well. She explains whether or not this relationship had anything to do with getting the part (Spoilers: it didn't!), and stories from her hubby visiting her on set.Plus, being an understudy for Jennifer Tilly, playing General Diane Beckman on the cult classic TV show "Chuck" with Zachary Levi, her unusual role as Terry Loach on "Preacher," and stories about John Cho, Stephen Tobolowsky, Ted Danson, and more! Please subscribe to our brand new YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@trekuntold .There, you will see all the old episodes of this show, as well as new episodes and all of our other content, including shorts and some other fun things planned for the future.Visit my Amazon shop to check out tons of Trek products andother things I enjoy: https://www.amazon.com/shop/thefightnerd View the Teespring store for Trek Untold gear & apparel: https://my-store-9204078.creator-spring.com Support Trek Untold by becoming a Patreon at Patreon.com/TrekUntold.Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and leave a rating if you like us!Follow Trek Untold on Social MediaInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/trekuntoldTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/trekuntoldFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/trekuntoldFollow Nerd News Today on Social MediaTwitter: Twitter.com/NerdNews2Day Instagram: Instagram.com/NerdNewsToday Facebook: Facebook.com/NerdNewsTodayTrek Untold is sponsored by Treksphere.com, powered by the RAGE Works Podcast Network, and affiliated with Nerd News Today.

Trip introduces an alien gal to ice cream and other people. Join your holographic hosts as they discuss similarities between this episode and "Shadowplay" from DS9, the unfulfilled promise of a haunted ship episode, and whether "feeding Doctor Phlox's bat" is meant to be taken literally or metaphorically. We also discuss out favorite flavors of iced cream! Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, so if you haven't had a chance to see it yet – beware! Next week: Dan's algorithm has selected a corker of an episode of Star Trek: Voyager to discuss next: "Parturition" - it's a Neelix vs. Paris throwdown! Note that this and all episodes of the It's Got Star Trek podcast contain explicit language and, frankly, an unnecessary amount of offensive content, so the show is intended only for adults and really really cool kids. Send us a Text Message.Hello, flower enthusiasts! Roz Chandler here, welcoming you to another insightful episode of The Cutflower Podcast. In this episode, we continue our three-part series on perennials for your cutting garden or flower farm. Last week, we covered the alphabet from A to H, and today we'll be picking up with H for Hellebores and moving through to S. These trusty perennials form the backbone of a productive garden, ensuring beauty and reliability year after year. Let's dive in!Episode SummaryIn this instalment, Roz Chandler takes us through the next set of essential perennials for any cutting garden. Starting with the delicate and early-blooming Hellebores, she moves on to Limonium, Toadflax, Lysimachia, and a host of other beautiful and practical plants. Roz shares her expert tips on how to grow, propagate, and care for these plants to maximise their vase life and ensure a bountiful harvest. Whether you're a flower farmer or an avid gardener, these perennials are must-haves for their versatility and enduring appeal. The episode also touches on the love-hate relationship with peonies, the versatile uses of mint, and the stunning beauty of Sanguisorba.Key TakeawaysHellebores and Patience: Hellebores require patience; pick them when seed pods and stamens drop for optimal vase life.Propagation Tips: Many perennials, like Lysimachia and mint, benefit from division every few years, offering more plants and fresh growth.Versatility of Mints: Mints can be invasive, so plant them in containers unless you want them to spread. They offer excellent vase life and fragrance.Seasonal Highlights: Peonies, while short-lived, are a beloved addition to any garden, providing stunning blooms that can be stored for later use.New Additions: Sanguisorba, with its striking height and unique colour, has become a favourite and a must-grow for its visual impact and longevity.Thank you for joining me as we explore these wonderful perennials. Stay tuned for the final part of our series, where we'll cover the rest of the alphabet and some additional favourites! https://fieldgateflowers.kartra.com/page/newsletters Flower Farmers Retreat 2024 (21 &22 September): https://fieldgateflowers.kartra.com/page/businessretreat2024 2024 Farm Day at Field Gate Farm (10 August): https://fieldgateflowers.kartra.com/page/farmvisit A Cut Above Waitlist: https://fieldgateflowers.kartra.com/page/ACutAboveWaitlist The Growth Club: https://fieldgateflowers.kartra.com/page/thegrowthclub Lots of free resources on our website: https://thecutflowercollective.co.uk/cut-flower-resources/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fieldgateflowers Facebook Group 'Cut Flower Farming - Growth and Profit in your business' https://www.facebook.com/groups/449543639411874 Facebook Group 'The Cut Flower Collection' https://www.facebook.com/groups/cutflowercollection

Bust out the fisheye lens, because it's time to get nuts! First up: it's another rehash of a better episode as Phlox slowly goes mad as he runs the ship while almost everyone else naps in "Doctor's Orders". After that, goo to the face in "Hatchery" turns John into the craziest thing the show can possibly imagine: a responsible Starfleet captain! Also this week: Shyamalan'd, mutinie'd, Keiko'd. [timestamps: Orders: 02:25; Hatchery: 28:38; Keiko: 59:28] [I hear the schoolbell, don't wat to be late forTumblr!: https://www.tumblr.com/sshbpodcast/750572583022460928/character-spotlight-keiko-obrien?source=share]
John wants his way and he's gonna get it, and to the devil with ethics and sensible choices! First up: Trip is in a coma and the Cap'n'll do anything, including listening to Phlox, to get his friend back in "Similitude". After that, why take a soldier into the past when you can drag your first officer along because reasons in "Carpenter Street". Also this week: bad Doctor, bad cop, good Nog. A New Series of Star Trek: EnterpriseStar Trek: Enterprise was the first TV series of the franchise to be unexpectedly cancelled since the 1960s. With the resurrection of the TNG story in "Star Trek: Picard", the trio open up their pitch meeting to map out a new season for the NX-01 crew in the 22nd Century.Twenty years have passed since we last saw the voyage of Enterprise in "Terra Prime." The United Federation of Planets has survived its first few formative years. As for retired Admiral Jonathan Archer, for whatever reasons, he allowed the leadership of the future of the Federation to pass him by. However, he still remains active to the cause as one of Earth's representatives to the Federation Council. As the time to decide about re-election comes, Archer finds himself caught in a brand new adventure, with past friends as foes, and the lingering question of "has Archer's time gone by?" Join the trio as we revisit what happened to the NX-01 crew, featuring Captain Reed of a refit Enterprise, Starfleet Academy Commandant Sato, last of the cargo fleet Captain Mayweather, Ambassador T'Pol of Vulcan, and proud father Phlox whose son is challenging Archer in the election. And will a long-dead familiar face from the past show up...in another form?
A disappointing "Star Trek: Legacy" update, maman. But also, we have news of a Picard movie, a Kelvinverse prequel, and a proper Kelvinverse 4th (but FINAL!?) installment? Wild happenings, maman. But wait, also, "Prodigy" is doing well on Netflix! Like. Everywhere. And what hope doth we have of Dr. Phlox making an appearance on "Strange New Worlds"? We'll see, maman. Hosts:David C.
