To relaunch his seminal imprint, Infrastructure New York, David Sumner aka Function presents his new 12", Green EP. Celebrating 27 years of Function releases this year and the label's 25th anniversary, the label will serve as an outlet for his new material, reissues of out of print classics from Synewave, Sandwell District and Ostgut Ton (and of course, Infrastructure), as well as developing new artists and launching a long awaited Bandcamp page - exploring the annals of nearly three decades of the Function sound. As a member of the Sandwell District collective, Function, from 2007 onward was instrumental in cultivating and ushering in a new sound of dark, cerebral hypnotica - forcing the hand of change in global techno. Green EP serves as a testament to this, further exploring these depths. The EP pays homage to the day when David arrived in Berlin with his green suitcase where his record “Isolation” on Sandwell District was released, hitting the ground running and spring boarding into an incredibly successful career, becoming a stalwart DJ/producer, after years as a struggling artist. Green EP encapsulates the same raw power and hypnotic energy of his genre defining Sandwell District releases Isolation, Anticipation and Variance, updated with a modern flair. Subject f (Function) has clearly transcended, as expressed through the opening track “Initiation” arriving at his “New Designation”. On the b-side Function communicates his divine alignment through the broken beat, etheric “Aeternum (Meridian)”. Finally, Function closes Green EP with a live extraction of “Desire and Memory”, a brooding club stormer in contrast to the more experimental leanings of the original version, which appeared on Rrose's label Eaux. Next to releasing a new EP and restarting the label, an attached Bandcamp page and label webshop will be launched. These portals will in time see the release of previously out of stock releases as well as re-issues and unreleased Function material, next to new releases by other artists. No doubt fans will be excited! One thing is clear: Function is back on track and more on form than ever! One of the leading names in Paris' contemporary scene, @zadig-construct_re-form is one of the main forces responsible for the return of the City of Light to worldwide prominence as a centre for forward-looking techno. A participant in the ‘90s French rave scene in the hardcore and acid days, Sylvain Peltier found his true inspiration with the arrival of @axis-jeff-mills, Surgeon (@dynamic-tension), and @joey-beltram and labels like @tresorberlin, Lost, and Synewave and the techno that his style remains rooted in to this day. After moving to Paris in the mid-2000s, Zadig became quickly involved in the beginnings of what would become the present-day Parisian upswing, making an early release in 2006 as Day is Dying on the Rouen-based Euro Visions label. In 2009 he returned, this time as Zadig and this time to stay, quickly forging a relationship with the important @syncrophone label and distributor in Paris. There has not been any looking back since, and as Paris' techno scene continues to rise from the ashes of the early 2000s to the vibrant, world-recognized heights it now occupies, Zadig has made essential contributions to this ascendancy. Starting in 2011, he launched his @construct-reform label, which has gone on to a residency at the legendary @rexclub and continues to debut and support bracing new French talent like @antigone, @voiski, @birthoffrequency, and Zadig himself. His own discography also continues to grow, with releases on the reknown Deeply Rooted House in 2013, the New York-based Chronicle, Children of Tomorrow, and continued support from Syncrophone, as well as compilation appearances on Tresor, @reclaim-your-city, and @studio-r. As Zadig's reputation as a leader in the French scene has spread, he has gone on to play numerous dates around Europe, with appearances in Berghain and a deepening relationship with Tresor, at both @concreteparis and the Weather festival in Paris, and worldwide in New York and Argentina, alongside scene-leading contemporary talent and legends like Scion, @rodhad, @petervanhoesen, @dvs1, @inigokennedy, @samulikemppi, @jonas-kopp, @johannes-volk, @shifted, @lucy, and many more. 2015 saw the debut of his Unforeseen Alliance live collaborative project with label mates Voiski, Antigone, and Birth of Frequency, all of whom have moved on to increasing success as both Zadig and Construct Re-Form have gained recognition. With Paris' resurgent club scene blossoming to worldwide attention not seen since the ‘90s, it is the dedicated efforts of those like Sylvain Peltier who have helped to bring about this revival and continue to lead it to new heights. As Zadig, as a label head, as a DJ, and as a central figure in its continued growth, he is an essential figure in its present and a leading light for its future. Photo credit to Max Ambio. On the last episode of the MindTrip podcast for 2020 Pfirter invited one of Portugal’s leading artists of the current techno scene, João Rodrigues aka Temudo. He lives & breathes music since he was a kid when he started his education in sound. Having initially dived into the Drum ’n’ Bass fields as Medio, he continued being eager to learn and experiment, and that was when he began exploring the sound of Techno. Up to date he has released on labels like Soma, Modularz, Clergy, Mord, Synewave, Planet Rhythm and also Hayes, a collaborative platform run by himself together with Nørbak, VIL, -2 and Osse focused on showcasing the distinct output of its artists through vinyl and digital releases. Temudo created an exceptional 60 min mix including music from Vince Watson, Diego Amura, Divide, Troy, Kwartz and much more, as well as upcoming unreleased tracks by himself. We would like to thank all artists who have contributed with their music and mixes to our MindTrip Podcast so far and also to our listeners who continue to support every single episode. TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ ZADIG Zadig gets into the rave scene in the 90s. He makes his place rapidly into this growing community and stands out as an unavoidable figure of the Norman scene. But five years of mixing Indus, Hardcore or Acid music finally gave him an oppressive sense of being closed in. Moreover, he no longer identifies with this environment and decides to turn to Techno, a much more basic but also wider style of music. Highly influenced by Jeff Mills, Joey Beltram, Surgeon or the labels Synewave, Lost or Tresor, Sylvain is at a turning point in his career. He then moves to Paris and holds various odd jobs. Thanks to these encounters and the experience he has gained, Zadig then starts Construct Re-Form, a label on a human scale which was initially created to release his own productions. Construct Re-Form almost immediately welcomes 3 talented DJs known as Antigone, Voiski and Birth of Frequency. Zadig then becomes an astute label manager who provides technical advice and, perhaps most importantly, human support to his three protégés. Considering the recent results of the label and its growing recognition, this formula works wonders. Echoplex is one of electronic music’s most unique artists across a variety of styles and aliases. Long time music producer, dj, label owner and techno music coach and trainer. A true mainstay of techno circles for over 25 years. With discography stretching into triple digits across labels like Soleil, Synewave, ARTS, Soma, novamute, Figure he has toured throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas, rocking festival crowds and headlining massive club nights with grooves that honour techno’s legacy while looking to it’s future. With a reputation spread between countries as far-removed as Poland, Italy, and Canada, Echoplex’s music maintained a mercurial perspective while remaining instantly recognizable, constantly shifting between the energy of the dance-floor and the warmth of analogue electronica. In 2020, Echoplex launched a "Making-of Echoplex" album. As a music maker and DJ, Temudo is part of a new generation of artists whose work relies on the contemporary approach on Techno. The music he makes has the seal of mythical labels such as Soma, Hayes, Modularz, Clergy, Mord, Synewave or Planet Rhythm. João Rodrigues began his love affair with music early on. After learning the guitar at a young age, he enrolled at a local Jazz school where he studied instruments and musical theory for two years. At 18 he pursued higher education into Sound and Image at ESAD university, quickly bumping into electronic music. Soon after he became enthralled with sequenced music, citing Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin, Boards Of Canada, Noisia and Extrawelt as some of his early influences. After completing his degree in 2009, he created his Drum 'n' Bass project, Medio, that would see him play throughout the country, and even earning him an European mixing prize. Always eager to learn more, João took his musical education further when he began his Masters in Musical Arts and Technology. It was during this period that his interest in Techno music began to spark, and also where his now established moniker, Temudo, was thought out. As Temudo he joined the Dead Motion Records crew, alongside Low Is and UFO19, carving out his first EP in 2014. Validation from the underground ensued when his “Longe” track was played on the Deep Space Helsinki radio show by Finnish techno stalwart Juho Kusti. In 2016 he put out two EP's that would see his music spread quickly into the speakers of clubs and festivals. Released on Modulhertz and Planet Rhythm, these tracks were played by the likes of Exium, Umek, Hyperactive, and Emmanuel Top. Doubling down on his release schedule, he put out four EP's the next year. The first, on Modulhertz, was pressed on vinyl and included a remix by the legendary The Advent. The second, another on Planet Rhythm, made it into Beatport's Top 100 Techno Releases. The third, in collaboration with fellow artist VIL, was released on Damon Wild's renowned Synewave. Artists such as Rødhåd, Adriana Lopez, Blue Hour, and Ben Sims, are just some of the DJ's to play the tracks. His last EP of the year, released on Affekt Recordings, also roared through the international ranks, with artists like Cleric, Rødhåd, The Advent, and Setaoc Mass playing it out. Temudo's most recent creation, with VIL, -2 and Osse, is Hayes, a collective focused on showcasing the distinct output of its artists through vinyl and digital releases. Their first two releases has put them well on the map, with several big guns supporting the tracks. His latest releases in 2019 set the bar higher, participating in Herdersmat Part 19-22, by MORD, having an LP in AWRY and releasing with Nørbak, I will guide Thy Hand EP in Modularz, Mxt (with Moddullar) on Clergy and the anticipated Context EP on Soma. Also, VA's for Suara, Planet Rhythm and Invite's Choice. He is now one of the most important Portuguese techno artists of a new generation.

Patrik Skoog (DE) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 91 pt.2 Bio: Patrik Skoog isn’t only one of the youngest veteran techno and house producers from Sweden, he’s also one of the most interesting and inspired. Though incredibly versatile, the sustained energy in his sets and productions are equally exceptional. In the last two years, Agaric established the Club Tracks 10” series on his label We Are. Besides his own stellar productions, collaborations with close friends Shonky, Walker Barnard, Ed Davenport, and Beaner have also graced the Club Tracks series. International support came from leading DJs like Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Loco Dice, Ben Klock, Luciano, Joris Voorn, Magda, Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth, and Adam Beyer. Above all, his productions were championed by Josh Wink, who went on to sign his album debut to his Ovum imprint. After more than 100 vinyl releases, Patrik Skoog can look back at quite a history: His harder Techno project Headroom on his label Native Diffusion, releases on Synewave, Loop, and many more long forgotten underground labels in the 90s and early 2000s left his first mark for those who know. From 2005 on, he evolved into his deeper Agaric project, with releases on his internationally celebrated We Are label, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode, Truesoul & Mad Eye, Raum…Musik, Sunset Diskos, Nummer, Kontra Musik, Treibstoff and Liebe Detail. As a technical DJ with a magical sense for momentum and selection, he’s been playing worldwide for more than 10 years, while his equally as stellar Live sets are one of the few that can rock a crowd throughout its duration. Relocating to Berlin in 2007, he quickly established himself as a celebrated constant inspiration, be it for extended Bar25 after hour sets, or club nights in Watergate, Arena, and Berghain’s Panoramabar, where he now holds his We Are label nights. Agaric’s mature, yet free floating approach to club music culture promises not only sweaty nights (and days) on the floor, but also peace of mind and revelation for the searching soul. A.Paul (POR) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 73 pt.5 3RD ANNIVERSARY! Bio: A.Paul was born in Lisbon, Portugal in November 1971, and his career started in 1986, although his first contact with music was made at a very early stage, mainly through the hands of his older sister that would regularly listen to disco, funk, and electro sounds in the 70′s. From a music passionate mind, to a national celebrity, A.Paul is today one of the key players of the electronic music scene on a worldwide scale, both as a DJ and as a Producer. His taste, technique and originality made him earn the respect from his peers and most of all the love and devotion from his fans. After the first years of musical discovery, his talent start to blossom when he was 13, despite living in a country where only a small percentage of people would listen to dance music, he always knew that these infectious rhythms would be on his path. After buying his first decks and mixer, including a couple of years of bedroom practice, he organized a few parties himself and later acquired his first residencies in clubs, through the hand of J.Daniel, who was one of the most respected Portuguese DJs in the 90′s. He was the owner of Question of Time Records, a vanguard record shop and record label, where A.Paul would later release his first record “Juice” a remarkable masterpiece that was played by many top DJs worldwide and licensed to various labels and compilations. He was also invited to be part of the Climacz project, the first after-hours club in Portugal, which was one of the first milestones of his career. The amazing spirit this venue brought to the Portuguese scene is still remembered with great joy and nostalgia by A.Paul himself. At some point he felt the need to move on and search for new challenges. In 1996, he became part of the Illegal Records project as a techno import manager, was invited to be resident of the best club at that time Kremlin, and later founded his first labels, Squeeze Records and Onh.Cet, which were two relevant projects that helped define and polish his sound. By then he was also already playing quite a lot as freelancer, in a growing market. Portugal was at its peak, in terms of electronic music popularity and A.Paul was playing at one point every weekend on different parts of the country. It was inevitable that he would decide to stick to this option for his career, as opposed to be resident in a club, where he would be more limited in terms of music taste. In 1997 he joins the X-Club, the most important DJ Agency and party organizer in Portugal. All the top cats were signed to X-Club, and so was A.Paul, first as a supporting artist, and later part of the agency’s top artists too. This period was very important for A.Paul, and his growth was remarkable, because he had the chance to meet and play with all the major techno and house artists in the world. Other projects developed by A.Paul at that time include sound engineering, journalism and also graphic and web design, activities that would become also important on his next projects. A.Paul was voted best Portuguese techno DJ in 2000, 2001, and 2002 by the readers of Dance Club, the main electronic music media vehicle in Portugal. A.Paul has never stopped investing and supporting the electronic music community particularly in techno. This is when A.Paul decides to start exploring the international market, due to the changes in the Portuguese scene.1994 to 2000 was monumental time after suffering from the huge decline in quality and quantity of events and musical culture. From the “Paradise Called Portugal” coined years before by international media, Portugal was now a place with a stagnated scene, and techno was probably the first genre to suffer. It was time for change, this crisis lead him to invest his time in a music production career, that was quiet for a few years due to the higher demand for DJ previously. In 2001 he opened Genesis record shop. Later in 2007 A.Paul was co-owner of MPC Vinyl Distribution, with his long-time friends Cisco Ferreira (The Advent) and Michaelangelo, where he also released on his other sub -labels The Light, Parallel 125, Dirty Ego, LK and Xtractz. In In 2012 A.Paul’s most renowned & most successful project to date is Naked Lunch Records which was created back in 2005 really began to really take mold into one of the driving forces in the techno scene. Naked Lunch Podcast, a weekly podcast, which is a careful balance of top quality underground DJs and the game changers in the techno scene. Fast forward to 2013, this marked a new monumental moment in A.Paul’s career as a promoter, by the end of the year he had 5 success events under his belt! With the success of the highly acclaimed Naked Lunch Nights in Portugal, its natural step would be to take his events international for 2014, alongside the grand opening of the much anticipated Naked Lunch Agency, the missing puzzle piece to complete his techno vision & one day his legacy. A.Paul has released over 100 vinyl records, several mixed CD compilations released in amazing labels like; Kombination Research, Synewave, Planet Rhyhtm, Italo Business, Pure Sonik, Theory, Mastertraxx, Beat Disaster, Yin Yang, Impact Mechanics, and has remixed artists such as The Advent, Ben Sims, Eric Sneo, Angel Alanis, Damon Wild, DJ T-1000, Virgil Enzinger, Robert Armani, Dave The Drummer, Dj Preach, Mike Humphries, Spiros Kaloumenos, Torsten Kanzler, Bas Mooy, Housemaster Boyz and many more. Besides his sound of hard, funky, deep bass lines he is renowned for, he has also been known productions in tech- house, minimal and experimental sounds, under several aliases like Loudon Kleer, Luther Miek, Beat Therapy and LK. and last but not least, he is also known for his co-productions with artists like The Advent, Industrialyzer, Michaelangelo, DJ Slot among others. His unique sound, taste, and technique, granted him a position on some of the best mega events like; Awakenings, Chateau Techno, TGV (The Netherlands), Evolve (Canada), Nature One, Syndicate, Ruhr in Love (Germany), Rock in Rio (Portugal), Technolandia (Portugal), Aquasella, (Spain), Liberty White (Belgium), Decibel (Holland), Global Vision Festival (France) & Apokalypsa (Czech Republic). The 22nd Avenue Red Podcast comes from Rotterdam-based DJ 751 (real name Jelle Hamstra), a DJ who is younger than his episode number and in this deliciously educational vinyl mix of high-quality old-skool Techno he has delivered a perfectly mixed selection of records that, barring one, were all pressed & released before he even started school. We admire this kind of dedication from DJ's who mine through the veins of electronic musical heritage and dig deep beyond the baize of current music to find their own concept of sound like Jelle has. Clearly he has done his homework and carved out his own niche of sounds, playing a fresh mixture of Techno, Electro and IDM that traces back to way before his time and leads up to the present day. His job working at the Distribution warehouse at the mighty Clone in Rotterdam can only help his cause, being surrounded by various sources of inspiration... and lots of records! Originally from The Hague, the capital city of the province of South Holland, 751 started DJ'ing at the The Hague Sweatshop Skate Park as part of the Sweatshop Soundsystem and quickly gained attention with his unique collection of records and his enthusiastic, passionate way of playing through them. Since then he built up an impressive DJ's CV, earning himself a string of bookings over in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam at Festivals such as Lowlands, Pitch Festival, Off Centre, Dekmantel and also at the famous Trouw nightclub. He has shared the stage with big shots like Derrick May, Steve Rachmad, ROD & Boddika to name a few. But sometimes the best place to listen to pure quality is in your headphones. Originally broadcast on Joseph McGeechan's 'Systematic Process' show on Fnoob. Not going to lie, when Joseph asked me for this mix I was pretty pleased with myself. For those who don't know, Joseph was half of the BCR Boys, ran Backwater Community Records and Berlin Consumer Records. He's released on Perc Trax and Synewave along with remixes for many other labels. And he's been remixed by Ancient Methods. Ancient Methods! He has played in Berghain and regularly plays in the mighty Tresor. He's also managed to escape Cumbernauld and now resides in Berlin. Jammy...Check Joseph out here @joseph_mcgeechanSo yeah, this mix was a big deal for me!It's probably the most 4/4 techno mix I've done in a while, only a couple of broken beat tracks, and also Morbid Angel and Joy Division. But enough rambling. Steve Stoll (USA) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 62 Pt. 2 Bio.: Producing pure, minimalist analogue-minded techno in the vein of early Plastikman and Joey Beltram (even though his career began as a drummer with the industrial label Wax Trax), Steve Stoll has recorded for Nova Mute, Probe, DJax, Delirium, Synewave and his own Proper NYC label. Raised in Brooklyn, Stoll listened to hip-hop and disco as a child, then joined the Army straight out of high-school. He served for five years, including a period in the Gulf War when he plotted bomb runs by satellite. After being released, Stoll shifted around: he played drums for the industrial group Sister Machine Gun, studied jazz and began recording straight-edged techno for Big Apple labels like 212 Productions and Damon Wild's Synewave. Stoll debuted for Sm:)e Recordings with the 1995 album Pacemaker. The following year brought another album, Zero Divide (recorded as the Operator) and an EP for Nova Mute (as the Blunted Boy Wonder). After he reverted back to Steve Stoll, Damn Analog Technology followed in 1997 and The Blunted Boy Wonder one year later. He stopped because of parenthood but now picked up the gear again. Damon Wild (PL) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 59 Pt. 2 Bio: Damon Wild’s musical career started off as a DJ playing a range of musical styles from Kraftwerk / Cabaret Voltaire / New Order to early acid house on his home town radio WTUL in New Orleans. It was in 1990 when he moved to NYC to become a key player in the underground techno scene. While working at local record stores, Sonic Groove & Vinylmania, Damon released his first EP “Unleash the Groove” on the legendary Strictly Rhythm stamp. After several releases on various labels, Damon built his name as a producer of hard, dark acid and synth-fuelled techno stompers. As Experimental (EX) was being set up as his first record label in 1992, Damon hit it big with the rave anthem “Rave Generator” under the group name Toxic Two. The tune reached the top ten in the UK charts and was his biggest commercial success. Even though Experimental records were relatively short lived, it was crucial in showcasing the talents of artists like Freddie Fresh, Tim Taylor and Woody McBride. It was then that Damon set up his second label, Synewave, and he still continues to run it and record for it successfully. On Synewave, Damon released some of his biggest underground tunes, such as “Bang the Acid” and “Afghan Acid”, both recorded with UK’s Tim Taylor. At the same time he was signing other producers to the label: Woody McBride, Freddy Fresh, Mark Bell (LFO), Joey Beltram, Heiko Laux, Steve Stoll, to name a few. In 1988, Damon released his first full length album “New Electronica” under the alias Morph (produced with Dennis Ferrer). Damon was also heavily producing solid minimal productions such as “Avion” and his Subtractive Synthesis series. After more than 15 years dj’ing and producing in the USA, Damon decided to move to Europe in 2001, where he released his second full album “Color Theory” for the Belgian based Music Man stamp. With some EP’s in between, 2004 witnessed his third full album “Downtown Worlds” on the German Kanzleramt stamp. With releases on all these labels (Code Red, Strictly Rhythm, Buzz, Reload, Music Man, Kanzleramt, Synewave, ?!) Damon Wild keeps crossing the globe for new inspiration. Damon Wild is well known for his experienced dj style ranging from underground acid, classic techno, pumping minimal to the latest in new electronic sounds from around the globe. His top priority is to balance between his likings and that of the crowd to create a special techno experience. Tracklist: 01. Mono-Region - First Contact // Naked Lunch Records 02. Cablecast 006: DENNIS FERRER

Cable London

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 22, 2013 60:00

Right place, right time. It's an old cliché, but it's one that's been the definition of New York house legend Dennis Ferrer's musical career. Just as the dance music world was heading into the world of afro-centric house, Ferrer was there. And then, when it began to embrace the mix of tech and soul, Ferrer was there again, leading the way with his impeccable productions.  And as a protege of Kerri Chandler, it makes complete sense that Ferrer's current sound lies firmly in the deep house realm laid out by his old teacher years earlier. Ferrer has brought that anything goes approach to his newest venture, Objektivity. Low slung and deep, Objektivity is a cutting-edge label in touch with its time, putting a uniquely American spin on the deep house revival that is currently making waves in Europe. And with releases from the likes of the young phenoms the Martinez Brothers (who are going from strength to strength) and classic New York house heads like Timmy Regisford and Quentin Harris, it's obvious that Ferrer doesn't regard the label as a vanity project. Objektivity is a living, breathing thing - one that's set to drop bombs on the dancefloor for years to come.   So it's with great pleasure that the 6th Cablecast comes from Ferrer himself.  With his Objektivity London showcase ready to drop here at Cable on 11th May, it's perfect timing for you to experience this legend at work.  Enjoy! This mix was recorded live from Miami.   Talk us through the equipment you use to perform on? I can recall that it was done on 2 Pioneer CDJ-2000's , A Pioneer DJ-900M Nexus Mixer and my Macbook Pro with Traktor Scratch Pro2 software.  I use USB sticks in the cdj's that contain .wav controller files for controlling Traktor via the cdj's. I also have these USB sticks as a backup with a few months worth of songs just in case my laptop crashes. The show can continue on with hopefully not a hitch. If travelling constraints and venue specifications weren't an obstacle, What would your ideal gig set up be? On a beach in Aruba with a killer Funktion One sound system and with a manageable 1,000 people losing their minds dancing and cheering to the likes of us. No fashion statements...No fancy clothes or sneakers on...just a shorts and flip flops or bikini's and flip flops code allowed. You travel all over the globe to perform, is there anywhere in the world that you would say is your favourite place to play, and why? I've been asked this countless times and i used to say all these exotic countries and what not.  But honestly NYC is my favourite place to play...why? Because it is my birthplace...it is where I got my start...my heart and soul..my pain and pride.  When you rock it out there and see all the familiar faces and industry people that have been coming out for years smiling and having a good time...you know you've been accepted.  Acceptance after all is what we're all after right? That is part of the prize in life as money isn't all it's cracked up to be some times. Your Objektivity imprint seems to have a real family vibe about it.   Releases from people close to home in New York such as The Martinez Brothers and Andre Hommen.  How did it all start? I very much keep to myself. Sort of a loner I'm told....lol. So on the odd occasion that I do let people in I tend to keep them close. You become part of my extended family.  It's a natural progression. So usually if you're in anything having to do with objektivity it's usually because I really like you. We keep it tight and a bit exclusive. Has it taken the musical direction you expected it would? What's in store for us in the future release wise? I've never had an intentionally  particular musical direction when it came to Objektivity except that i wanted our records to always be different than what's always going on.  To walk that fine edge between being current and too ahead of the curve.   It's always just been if I like it and it fits with what's going on in my head and somehow in our scene then yeah! what the hell let's do it. I could sit here and come up with some asinine "the spirits speak to me kind of thing" but honestly it's more of a floating butterfly effect. The sound of house music is forever changing, you are a prime example of how to stay relevant in today’s rapidly evolving scene. It seems like you have made the transition from your roots in soulful house to accommodate a more current deep sound. Have you enjoyed this journey, and where do you see the state of house music 10 years from now? This is not the first time i've done this nor will it be the last. Before my soulful house roots I had techno roots with Damon Wild and Synewave. I live this.....in order to continue living it  one must evolve.  Just because you get older doesn't mean the front door to the club does also.  It's a challenge to keep on trying to reinvent but that's what makes life fun and interesting. People will always need dance music in some shape or form.  Where will it be 10 years from now on? Who knows...but I can guarantee you that i'll be there still trying to be relevant.  lol. We're very pleased to have the London leg of your Objektivity tour here at Cable.  It's a great collection of artists, together, under one roof.  How do you see the night unfolding? I've long ago stopped trying to be Nostradamus and offering predictions.  LOL.  I just know...I'm going to have fun...play records...dance...and act like I love life...because you only get one shot at it.  I'll bring the music ...you bring the open mind and somewhere in the middle we'll connect and lose track of time for a while. What can we expect from your performance? How much preparation goes into your DJ gigs? I totally fly by the seat of my pants.   That's what dj'ing is all about no?   What's the fun in a prepped set?  That's cheating on the exam!  You look at the crowd...and you either guess right or you guess wrong.  Guess wrong too many times and you suck....guess right the majority of the times and you're a hero.  I don't like falling into the suck region too many times....it's not fun. LOL. Anything else we should know about on the horizon? Any special collaborations? The only thing you should know...is that i'm not going anywhere any time soon...lol. ------------------------------------------------ Objektivity London Showcase // Saturday 11th May // Cable, London DJs: Dennis Ferrer, Sis, Julian Perez, Andre Hommen, Jack Fell Down Click for more info / tickets

A.Paul (POR) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 34 Pt. 2 Bio: A.Paul was born in Lisbon, Portugal in November 1971, and his career started in 1986, although his first contact with music was made at a very early stage, mainly through the hands of his older sister that would regularly listen to disco, funk, and electro sounds in the 70's. After buying his first decks and mixer, including a couple of years of bedroom practice, he organized a few parties himself and later acquired his first residencies in clubs, through the hand of J.Daniel, who was one of the most respected Portuguese DJs in the 90's. He was the owner of Question of Time Records, a vanguard record shop and record label, where A.Paul would later release his first record "Juice" a remarkable masterpiece that was played by many top DJs worldwide and licensed to various labels and compilations. By then he was also already playing quite a lot as free lancer, in a growing market. Portugal was at its peak, in terms of electronic music popularity and A.Paul was playing at one point every weekend on different parts of the country. It was inevitable that he would decide to stick to this option for his career, as opposed to be resident in a club, where he would be more limited in terms of music taste.E-mailArtist NameBeatport URLWebsiteArtist Bio In 1997 he joins the X-Club, the most important DJ Agency and party organizer in Portugal. All the top cats were signed to X-Club, and so was A.Paul, first as a supporting artist, and later part of the agency's top artists too. This period was very important for A.Paul, and his growth was remarkable, because he had the chance to meet and play with all the major techno and house artists in the world. Other projects developed by A.Paul at that time include sound engineering, journalism and also graphic and web design, activities that would become also important on his next projects.A.Paul was voted best Portuguese techno DJ in 2000, 2001, and 2002 by the readers of Dance Club, the main electronic music media vehicle in Portugal. From the "Paradise Called Portugal" coined years before by international media, Portugal was now a place with a stagnated scene, and techno was probably the first genre to suffer. It was time for change, this crisis lead him to invest his time in a music production career, that was quiet for a few years due to the higher demand for DJ previously. In 2001 he opened Genesis record shop, but it would be a few years later that he created his most successful project to date, Naked Lunch Records which is one of the quality techno labels in the world at the moment. He is also co-owner of MPC Vinyl Distribution, with his long time friends Cisco Ferreira (The Advent) and Michaelangelo, where he also released on his other sister labels The Light, Parallel 125, Dirty Ego, LK and Xtractz. The last 5 years were indeed the most prolific and successful for career including constant studio and DJ activity. A.Paul has released over 100 vinyl records, several mixed CD compilations released in amazing labels like; Kombination Research, Synewave, Planet Rhyhtm, Italo Business, Pure Sonik, Theory, Mastertraxx, Beat Disaster, Yin Yang, Impact Mechanics, and has remixed artists such as The Advent, Ben Sims, Eric Sneo, Angel Alanis, Damon Wild, DJ T-1000, Virgil Enzinger, Robert Armani, Dave The Drummer, Dj Preach, Mike Humphries, Spiros Kaloumenos, Torsten Kanzler, Bas Mooy, Housemaster Boyz and many more.Besides his sound of hard, funky, deep bass lines being the gin and juice of techno he is renowned for, he has also been known productions in techouse, minimal and experimental sounds, under several aliases like Loudon Kleer, Luther Miek, Beat Therapy and LK. and last but not least, he is also known for his co-productions with artists like The Advent, Industrialyzer, Michaelangelo, DJ Slot among others.A.Paul is today one of the most remarkable techno artists in the planet, and his live performance, tracks and sets are acclaimed by a growing number of fans. He has played in events such as Awakenings (Holland), Rock in Rio (Lisbon), Nature One (Germany), Evolve (Canada), Liberty White (Belgium), Decibel (Holand), PACT (Holland), Boomerang (Slovakia), Aquasella (Spain), La Nuit Rouge (France) and in the best european clubs like Tresor (Germany), Fabrik (Spain), Row 14 (Spain), Moog (Spain), U60311 (Germany), Ostgut (Germany), Palazzo (Germany), Poema (Holland), Panama (Holland), Macumba (Spain), Locomia (Portugal), Kadoc (Portugal) and Rocks (Portugal)... Metroline Limited musical roots are in techno, that's a fact. Octad and Phiorio, the label bosses met around 10 years or so ago (maybe a bit more actually) and that's because of techno. Octad had been already spinning techno records for quite a few years when Phiorio got into buying records at the end of the 90's. Once he moved to London he started spinning tunes at warehouse rave parties and for a few years he was a regular figure behind the decks of various London techno sound-systems. The music he played at the time was a mixture of Detroit and European funky and minimalistic techno, this mix represents the music Phiorio was playing around the year 2002. That was a time when most dj's still played vinyl, the best London techno shops were Eukatech and Small Fish and techno was played/produced with a much faster bpm :) Enjoy! Tracklist: 1. Discovering and innovating sound have always been the key points for the music of Delko. Raised in the small town of Rio Maior, Delko has always been in close contact with all kinds of music such as Rock, Alternative and Electronic Music, escaping well away from the mainstream music. Delko’s major influences mainly come from the Detroit Techno scene as well as the fascination from the abstract and deep sounds involving dark atmospheric sounds, in which he conveys these influences into his own releases. The musical philosophy of Delko is combining two different styles together, the more dance floor music orientated style with that of the more experimental style, creating a distinctive kind of style of techno. His feelings and adventures turn into deep and hypnotic atmospheres by developing loops which make the listener absorb the tracks and feel the rhythm and music in the simplest way. Delko currently releases music on various labels such as, Propellant Music, Prosthetic Pressings, Synewave, Blind Spot Music, Backwater Community Records, Ketra Records, Phobiq, Packed Music, Transmissions and Skyline Types Grooves. His DJ sets are characterized by the concept which distinguishes his music and range from the dub and deep ambient to new modern Techno.
