In this episode we try Smodcast ‘Have a Week' Juicy Pale Ale and the Jay & Silent Bob ‘Beers! Beers! Beers! Both beers made in Vancouver by Main Street Brewing. Named after the eponymous weekly podcast that features Kevin and his long-time producing partner Scott Mosier aka @samosier — who met right here in Vancouver while both were attending film school back in the day — the ‘Have a Week' Juicy Pale Ale has a balanced profile that complements the papaya and citrus notes of the highlighted Mosaic hops and punches in at 5.5% ABV / 30 IBUs. The Jay & Silent Bob ‘Beers! Beers! Beers!' Lager celebrates the dynamic cinematic duo (and Silent Bob's longtime — ahem — Mewes) in a perfectly crisp, clean and easy drinking 4.5% ABV lager for all occasions. Or, y'know, hanging out in front of the neighbourhood Quick Stop. It's inspired by Jay's rap from the iconic Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back entry in the View Askewniverse. I'm in Vancouver, British Columbia. Located on the traditional unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish and Musqueum. The neighbourhood of Mt. Pleasent has seen a major transformation in recent years, and a key establishment that has played a major role is Main Street Brewing. Situated inside a Vancouver City Heritage Building, which originally was a brewery when first built apart of the historic Brewery Creek district. I sat down with co-owners Nigel Pike & Cameron Forsyth. You've heard of wine and cheese, but beer and cheese? Main Street Brewing is running a holiday drive this month to benefit underprivileged kids and Les Amis du Fromage is stocking up on all your favourite creams, blues and accompanying bites.
This is our second official tasting panel episode with Whats Brewing Magazine in conjunction with Legacy Liquor Store in Vancouver. The magazine is a quarterly and each issue has a tasting panel that features a style of beer. Editor Dave Smith hooked up with us to do a podcast version of the tasting panel to highlight the local beer industry and also highlight some of the great local beers on sale at Legacy Liquor Store. This quarter we took on the West Coast IPA. We tried West Coast IPA's from The Parkside Brewery, Main Street Brewing, 33 Acres, Lightheart Brewing, Driftwood Brewery and Red Racer Brewing. Tune in to learn more about these beers.Podcasters Involved:Mike G of Pacific Beer ChatWarren of Fraser Mills fermentation / Whats Brewing MagazineSteve H of Pacific Beer ChatJason Armitage of Big Ridge BrewingDave of What’s BrewingIntro By Conundrum – Website, Facebook, Instagram
It’s our election night live show! Cohosted with Dear City Council and with a generous donation from Main Street Brewing. In the first part, we speak to former Mayor Sam […] The post E-Night pt 1 You split and you die ft Sam Sullivan appeared first on Cambie Report.
Today we are drinking 4204 Main Street Brewing Company’s Tickle. 4204’s answer to Brut IPAs has a special ingredient to separate them from the pack and the first thing we need to do was figure out how to pronounce Gewürztraminer.
In this episode we assault your senses just a little right off the bat with the incendiary and manic track 'Ain't It Funny' By Danny Brown. If you can make it through that we've got a heck of a show for you. As we say goodbye to summer we sneak a couple more sours in. We try a real gem from Main Street Brewing and a gorgeous rarity from Four Winds. Our album introspective is the stunningly ambitious synth rock epic Currents by Tame Impala. We asses how the P.T. Anderson classic Punch Drunk Love represents mental illness, social anxiety, and modern romance. Also, there's pudding! Tristan pulls hard for UK music this time around with new music from Tirzah and Disclosure. Mick throws out some love for Canadian artists Chad VanGaalen and Adam Robert Thomas. Find all of the tracks we feature on our EP 13 playlist on Apple Music. As always find more content form the show on instagram and facebook, and don't forget to subscribe on iTunes. Fun fact- the show is far more enjoyable if you drink a beer while you listen. Give it a try. Not if you're driving! Thanks mates!
If you've been paying attention, you might remember that Emma hates sours and Danica isn't into IPAs...so we challenged each other to try 'em again. This hour-long "What Are You Drinking" segment includes live taste tests and many retellings of beer adventures. Beerventures? Whatever.
Tired of Christmas tunes? Throw it back to October & get some suggestions for next year with this Oktoberfest special. We taste a beautifully crafted pumpkin Crème Brûlée from Colin, Weihenstephaner, Schlafly, Goosefest, Oachkatzlschwoaf, and Main Street Brewing variations on Oktoberfest beers. Our restaurant review is on the fantastic Big Baby Q in Maryland Heights (try their baked beans, you’re welcome) and our conversation winds its way through the Striker cookie dance, spice expiration dates and rappers found in mines. This is also recorded in front of a live studio audience, so be prepared for an additional laugh track!
