Are you tired of the divisive and angry political climate? What if there was a way to approach politics that transcended the chaos? And what if God is calling you and me to become His agents of positive change (and then gives us a step-by-step operational plan to do it!)? Join us as we explore a Jesus-centered political outlook through the powerful lens of Romans 12. Discover surprising insights that speak directly to our turbulent cultural moment. This teaching challenges us to rethink our political engagement, emphasizing that who we vote for matters little if we aren't representing Jesus in the process. “We have to realize that light does dispel darkness and that we do make a difference. Your life does make a difference. Sometimes it doesn't seem that way, that you don't get awards for living the Word. You go home after a hard day of work, and you've got to take care of your family, and it can sometimes seem a little bit thankless. And it's like, ‘What is the difference? Is this really making a difference?' Absolutely, yes, it is making a huge, spiritual difference in the whole climate.” Rev. Bryan Mittler, Rev. Chandler Greene, and podcast interviewer Edgar Mendoza talk about many facets of the subject “overcoming evil with good.” This interview covers the importance of understanding God's goodness and bringing it into life's situations. We invite you to spend time with these men in this special roundtable episode as they share the Word and their perspectives on the subject. Living Sacrifices - Part 7 - “Overcome evil with good” sounds so simple, but what does it really mean? Christians have done a lot of un-Christian things in the name of resisting evil. When we read on to chapter 13:10 (where Paul's train of thought actually leads), we see what Paul had in mind. learn more about First Baptist Conroe at fbcconroe.org/getconnected

In the life of David series, I come to an amazing account of providence. Urged on by his own men to kill Saul, David is faced with getting ahead of God’s will, and possibly committing a horrible crime. Instead, David chooses to stand on the promises of God and overcome evil with good. This is …
Today in our continuing study of Romans Pastor Mark leads us through the last part of chapter 12. Regarding contending with evil consider with us the tree main ways Paul urges to overcome evil with good: by loving one another; through zeal; and striving for peace.
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” n says the Lord. 20 On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” o 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

In this sermon from 1 Samuel 24, we see King David spared Saul’s life when he had the opportunity for revenge. In doing so he overcame evil with good, demonstrated his fear of God, and his trust in God to fulfill His plans for him and bring about vengeance in due time. David's story and psalms teach some helpful lessons: 1. David Teaches Us How To Respond To Our Adversaries: With Mercy- V7,10 2. David Teaches Us To Respect Authority V6-8 3. David Teaches Us How to Handle the Temptation to Get Revenge; Wait for God- Psalm 37:1-11,34 4. David Teaches Us To Fear God; Keep A Clear Conscience & Do Good- V4-6, Psalm 34:11-16 5. David Teaches Us To Trust God’s Sovereignty In Fulfilling Our Purpose- V12, Psalm 57:2-3 6. David Teaches Us About Healthy Confrontation With Saul - V8-15
In “The Two Towers,” Sam encourages his friend Frodo with these words, “there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for.” The Apostle Paul gives us this same encouragement with his words, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Rom 12:9-21). Paul's advice for how we do so in a complicated word still resonates today. *** Join us In-Person or Online for Worship Sundays at 9:30am and 11am. When we are mistreated by others, we must respond biblically instead of retaliating.
There really is no limit to what evil the human heart can conceive. So before we try to confront the evil outside of us, we need to examine the evil within every heart. It is Jesus who pulls no punches when describing the evil that comes out of the human heart. The bad news is that we all have evil inside of us. The good news is that Jesus Christ, in His goodness and mercy, overcame that evil for us by dying on the cross and then offering us His righteousness as a free gift that can only be received by faith. Through the gift of faith our hearts can overcome the evil within. All glory, for overcoming evil, be to Him!
