The forty-first in a series of sermons on the letter to the Romans. Speaker: Mike McKinley
When life is hard and things don't make sense, the questions surface fast—is God unjust? Did He make a mistake with me? Does He actually love me? This week we sit with some of the most challenging verses in Romans and work through three of the hardest questions we ask about God. The answer Paul keeps coming back to isn't a formula or a quick fix—it's the character of God Himself. He is not unjust. He is not arbitrary. He is rich in mercy, and His steadfast love never ceases.
I did not wish to combine these three topics into one lesson, so I've decided to focus on just the law this week, while offering some thoughts regarding sin and the gospel to next week's lesson on repentance and forgiveness. God's law is a transcript of God's character. We see this when we compare their shared attributes: God's Character in His Law!GodGod's LawRighteous (Ezra 9:15)Righteous (Psalm 119:172)Perfect (Matthew 5:48)Perfect (Psalm 19:7)Holy (Leviticus 19:2)Holy (Romans 7:12)Good (Psalm 34:8)Good (Romans 7:12)True (Exodus 34:6)True (Psalm 119:142) Let's look at a few of these just so we can anchor this thought in our mind, for example, ...

All Things for Our Good (Romans 8:28) February 15th, 2026Romans 8:28 is perhaps the most powerful promise in all of Scripture, yet it is also one of the most frequently misapplied. In the hands of a well-intentioned but shallow counselor, it can be used as a bludgeon, dismissing pain and rushing the broken toward a silver lining. But when rightly understood, this verse offers a hope that sustains rather than a theology that crushes. This sermon examines six common misconceptions about Romans 8:28 to clarify what God actually promises His people.
Pastor Gabriel Hughes preaches on that oh so famous and beloved verse, Romans 8:28, being reminded that God works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Visit providencecasagrande.com for more info about our church.

Try our online bible college here!: https://valiantmi.com/kingdomcollege or our bible study app here: https://bibleacts.goodbarber.app In this episode, we close our study of Romans 12 with a powerful discussion on verses 14–21 — one of the most practical and challenging passages in all of Scripture. Join us as we explore how believers are called to walk in unity through humility, bless and pray for those who mistreat us, and truly overcome evil with good. This deep and exhaustive conversation will expand your understanding of what genuine Christian love looks like in everyday life and how it transforms relationships, even in the face of hostility.
Today, the guys are discussing one of the more famous verses in the New Testament. Can it really be true that God is working all things for good for you if you are a Christian? There are times when people look at their lives and cannot even begin to process how it can be true. Listen in as the guys discuss how doctrines like God's sovereignty and providence should be understood as we grapple with our suffering. Conformed to Christ aims to engage the mind, affect the heart, and call people to follow Christ. Additionally, our aim is to introduce and explain passages of Scripture and difficult theological doctrines in a down-to-earth and easy-to-grasp manner. Theology and the Bible should impact your life, and our goal is that we might play a small part in seeing that happen. In this message from Romans 12:17-21, we continue exploring how God calls us to respond to sin and evil in the world. Beloved, we are reminded not to repay evil with evil but to live honorably and peaceably with all, trusting in God's perfect justice. Through real-life stories, biblical examples, and timeless wisdom, we learn that responding to evil with good protects our hearts from corruption and points others to Christ. We reflect on the words of Paul, urging us to leave vengeance in God's hands, care for our enemies, and overcome evil with good. In a world that often encourages retaliation, this message is a gentle but firm reminder that God's ways are higher, His justice is perfect, and His love empowers us to act with integrity, kindness, and peace.Join us as we seek to live godly lives, trusting fully in our righteous King.

The kindness of God is that He takes our mistakes, what the enemy means for evil, and leverages it for good. Israel's rejection of God is one of those events the enemy meant for evil, but God turned around and used for good. For our good. For their good. For the good of the world.

In this episode of FCC Talk, hosts Jon Rhoades and Dan Stribling from First Christian Church explore how God can transform tragedy into triumph, using the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk as a poignant example. Amid national unrest, they discuss the Christian response—condemning violence while emphasizing love, outreach, and welcoming newcomers to church. Drawing from Scripture like Romans 8:28, Genesis 50:20, and Romans 12:21, they highlight how God works through hardship to soften hearts, draw people to faith, and overcome evil with good. Why I Have to Be in a Season of Waiting • Sunday Service Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give: www.toddcoconato.com/give Waiting is one of the hardest things God asks us to do. We want answers now, doors open now, breakthrough now. But Scripture teaches that waiting is not wasted—it's one of God's most powerful tools to shape us, strengthen us, and align us with His perfect timing. Let's walk through ten passages that show why God calls us into seasons of waiting. 1. Waiting Renews Strength Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV): “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” 2. Waiting Teaches Us God's Timing Habakkuk 2:3 (NKJV): “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” 3. Waiting Builds Endurance in Trials Romans 5:3–4 (NKJV): “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.” 4. Waiting Is Part of God's Goodness Lamentations 3:25–26 (NKJV): “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” 5. Waiting Keeps Us from Running Ahead of God Psalm 27:14 (NKJV): “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” 6. Waiting Prepares Us to Receive the Promise Hebrews 6:12 (NKJV): “That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” 7. Waiting Shows God Is Working All Things for Good Romans 8:28 (NKJV): “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” 8. Waiting Protects Us from the Wrong Door Psalm 37:7 (NKJV): “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.” 9. Waiting Produces Blessing in Due Season Galatians 6:9 (NKJV): “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” 10. Waiting Prepares Us for Christ's Return Titus 2:13 (NKJV): “Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” Beloved, if you are in a season of waiting, remember this: waiting is not wasted. God is renewing your strength, building your character, protecting you from wrong doors, and aligning you with His perfect timing. The waiting is a setup for the promise. Be of good courage, and wait on the Lord! CCLI: 21943673

It is time this very minute to pray and seek God. Time to set our timers and pray for the minute. Send us a textIntroduction:Have you ever listened to someone speak and wondered, "Where is this going? What are they really trying to say?" When I first read these opening chapters of Romans, I found myself asking the same question of Paul. His argument is tightly woven, deeply theological, and ultimately leads to an unavoidable conclusion: No one is righteous before God.In this episode, we dive into Romans 3:9-20, where Paul brings his opening argument to a stunning climax. He has spent the previous chapters demonstrating that all people—whether obviously unrighteous or self-righteous—are under God's judgment. Now, he delivers his final verdict: "No one is righteous, not even one."Key Takeaways:Paul's Three-Step Argument:The Meaning of Being ‘Under Sin':The Law's True Purpose:The Hope Beyond Judgment:Final Thought:Romans 3 strips away every illusion we have about our own righteousness. It forces us to face the sobering truth that we cannot justify ourselves before God. But as we will soon see, this prepares us for the greatest news of all: the righteousness of God made available through faith in Jesus Christ.Join us next time as we continue our journey through Romans and explore the hope that follows the judgment.Subscribe & Share: If this episode encouraged or challenged you, consider subscribing and sharing it with someone who might benefit from it. You may have heard us talk about it before...but the word "good" is one of the most theologically rich and spiritually significant words in the Bible. It features prominently in crucial passages like Genesis 1-3. It is also a key word in understanding Romans 12. The Apostle Paul says, "Hate what is evil, cling to what is good." This phrase catapults us back to the very beginning of the human story when Adam and Eve were tempted to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
