This week at the Cannes Film Festival, My Brilliant Career made Australian film history, while back home Rupert Murdoch became a Sydney TV mogul, setting the stage for his world-changing Fox News empire. Meanwhile, Aussies lived with limited television choices even as they remained unaware that one of their own was reshaping American screen entertainment with his cutting edge comedies and pioneering reality formats. For free trial access to early ad-free episodes and exclusive bonus episodes:Apple.co/ForgottenAustralia or https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/forgotten-australia/id1442763878Patreon.com/ForgottenAustraliaCheck out my books:They'll Never Hold Me:https://www.booktopia.com.au/they-ll-never-hold-me-michael-adams/book/9781923046474.htmlThe Murder Squad:https://www.booktopia.com.au/the-murder-squad-michael-adams/book/9781923046504.htmlHanging Ned Kelly:https://www.booktopia.com.au/hanging-ned-kelly-michael-adams/book/9781922992185.htmlAustralia's Sweetheart:https://www.booktopia.com.au/australia-s-sweetheart-michael-adams/book/9780733640292.htmlEmail: forgottenaustraliapodcast@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. On this Stones and Bones, we are focusing specifically on the cemeteries that name themselves Old Burying Ground. These Old Burying Grounds offer a snapshot of what life was like during the Colonial Period in America and they don't use the term "cemetery" in the name because the term wasn't in use yet. Garden cemeteries were a couple hundred years away from being planned, so many of these cities of the dead are haphazard and wild. And they were never considered hallowed, but rather, common. Many of them are filled with notable people from American history. Intro and Outro music "Stones and Bones" was written and produced by History Goes Bump and any use is strictly prohibited. Czabe has his "Sunday Conversation" with "good enough" ANDY POLLIN, and to nobody's surprise, but to Czabe's ultimate frustration, Andy is just not very riled up about the utter shitshow NIL and the portal has created in CFB. The boys also talk about Greg Gumbel and his place on the sports media landscape. MORE . . .Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
The Olde Park Hotel has stood for over 130 years in Ballinger, Texas, which is known as the Greatest Little Town in Texas. From the outside, the hotel looks pretty unpretentious, but it has a storied history. The building has housed not only a hotel, but a brothel, a boarding house, school, restaurant and antique store. Today, it is run as an event host that can be rented. This is mostly for ghost hunts because this hotel is said to be one of the most haunted hotels in Texas. Join us for the history and hauntings of the Olde Park Hotel! The Moment in Oddity features the Dr. Suess House and This Month in History features Phillips Brooks born. Ahoy, ghostly voyagers! Do you like pirates? We do too, but this episode is more Captain-of-your-heart kind of vibe. We are going to take an eerie trip back in time and dive into the haunted tale of Captain Colin Swayze and the haunted Olde Angel Inn in Ontario, Canada! This episode has it all: ghostly footsteps, a love that transcends time, and a pub where history (and spirits) come to life.
