Summary of 1 Samuel (through chapter 10): Despite Israel's rejection of God as their king, God graciously and powerfully establishes Saul as king (through his faithful servant Samuel), yet there are already signs of trouble.-Through faith in King Jesus, we have everything we need. God has given us -Everything we need to live a godly life [2 Peter 1:3-4] -His word to guide us [2 Cor. 1:20-22]-Therefore, let us trust God through the highs and lows of life [2 Peter 1:5-9]God has graciously & powerfully worked to give us the eternal king we need!

God's reminders from the Journey of the Ark:-Confirm the Lord's authority when you encounter troubles-Don't try to manipulate God's authority-Recognize the infinite scope of God's authority-Any worship other than to God is an insult to His authority-Despising the Lord's authority leads to judgement-God's authority extends to the sophisticated and the simple-Remember the Lord's authority when tempted to sin-The Lord's authority can produce incredible blessings and joy

Big Idea: The Lord establishes ambassadors who speak and act on His behalf in our dark world. Ambassadors:1. Listen (to God) [How does God speak to us? JESUS AT THE CENTER OF OUR SALVATION:-We have been saved from the penalty for our sin (justification). Our sin is forgiven, and we are given the Holy Spirit.. -Three New & Better Identities (for all who believe): 1. Members of God's family. [Luke 15:11-32] 2. Servants in Jesus' church. [John 13:1-17] 3. Citizens of Jesus' Kingdom. COVENANTS -Binding promises in a partnership -Basis of relationship between two parties -Establish the conditions of the relationship -Provide consequences for not meeting those conditions -Often accompanied by signs Five key biblical covenants: -Noahic – Genesis 8 and 9 -Abrahamic - Genesis 12, 15, 17 -Mosiac – Exodus 19-24, Deuteronomy 29- Davidic - 2 Samuel 7- New - Jeremiah 31, Ezekiel 37, the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke The biblical covenants reveal God to us • He is a covenant maker and covenant keeper • His characteristics of wisdom, love, mercy, patience and power are all on display Knowing our covenant-making God gives us faith • We have a faith based on evidence • We can walk in faith, confidence, assurance
We examine Genesis 3 and other scriptures to assess and diagnose the damage done by human rebellion. Application: Be honest about your Sin/ rebellion (w/ God and others):- Stop hiding- Stop blaming- Face the fallout- Trust in God's help
