In today's episode, we have the pleasure to interview Connie Bennett, author of I Blew My Diet, Now What?Connie is a former carbs-addicted journalist, bestselling author, and health and life coach. She's also the author of Sugar Shock and Beyond Sugar Shock, and in this conversation she vulnerably shares how — after more than a decade of eating clean — she relapsed hard on carbs, gained 21 pounds, developed insulin resistance, and felt deep shame… despite being the expert who “should've known better.” Instead of spiraling, Connie spent seven years diving into the research to understand why so many of us fall off track and how to Bounce Back Boldly. In this episode, you'll learn a powerful way to use affirmations so they actually stick, why willpower isn't enough and what to do instead, and how to reset your identity and habits even if you feel like you've already “failed” your New Year's resolution.Enjoy this incredible conversation with Connie Bennett. To Learn More about Connie Bennett and buy her books visit: The Books: https://a.co/d/0c9mf4ObWebsite/Socials:https://connieb.com/https://www.facebook.com/ConnieBennett/https://www.instagram.com/conniebennettauthorhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/conniebennett

In this episode of Somatic Movement and Mindset, Heidi Hadley explores why pandiculation is the missing link in how we care for muscles, fascia, and joints, and why stretching alone often falls short. If you have ever stretched consistently yet still felt tight, restricted, or in pain, this episode will help you understand why. Heidi unpacks the science of how the nervous system controls muscle tone, how fascia adapts to habitual tension, and why joints rely on intelligent movement rather than force.Pandiculation is not about pulling or forcing tissues. It is about restoring communication between the brain and body so movement becomes easier, lighter, and more efficient.

Ep #348 - Conscious Awareness - An Interview with CEO of Insight Timer, Chris Plowman I have the wonderful honor and pleasure of welcoming Chris Plowman, CEO of Insight Timer, for a meaningful and inspiring conversation. Insight Timer is a free wellness app offering guided meditations, calming music, and tools to support both mind and body. Today, the platform includes more than 20,000 teachers and musicians from around the world, sharing practices on everything from stress and anxiety to focus and self-compassion. As a teacher on Insight Timer—where I offer guided meditations and inspirational talks—it was truly a joy to sit down with Chris and hear how it all began. When Chris and his brother purchased the company in 2014, Insight Timer was simply a meditation timer. There were no teachers and only 10 guided meditations available. Since then, it has grown into a global community, with over 32 million people across 200 countries having installed the app. What moved me most is that the company was built from a place of generosity and integrity. The vision was clear: create a platform where teachers could earn income from their work while keeping the content freely available to people everywhere. We also explored the role of AI and Chris's thoughtful philosophy around integrating it responsibly. At the heart of our conversation is something I deeply believe: humans healing humans is what it's really all about. Technology can support us—but human connection is what truly transforms us. I'm excited to share this conversation with you. In this episode of Revolutionary Women, I speak with Kyla Reynolds P'an, Head of Development for Pangea Trust, a UK–Portugal charity building Europe's first large-scale elephant sanctuary in Portugal's Alentejo region. Pangea Trust is creating a sanctuary for elephants currently living in captivity across Europe, offering a lifelong home designed for recovery, space, and social connection. We discuss what it takes to build an elephant sanctuary from the ground up, from fundraising and public awareness to infrastructure, international logistics, and preparing for the arrival of Kariba, the sanctuary's first elephant, expected in 2026. Beyond wildlife conservation, this conversation explores career evolution, living between cultures, and how seasons of work, including raising a family, shape the paths we take later. Kyla shares what it looks like to step into a new chapter with clarity and purpose. If you're interested in elephant conservation, nonprofit leadership, philanthropy in Europe, or stories of women creating change in their communities, this episode offers both depth and perspective. Kyla Reynolds P'an is Head of Development for Pangea Trust, a UK/Portugal based charity building Europe's largest and most comprehensive elephant sanctuary in the Alentejo region of Portugal. The sanctuary will serve as a compassionate solution for Europe's zoos and circuses seeking a life-long home for their elephants. Kyla holds a Master's in Journalism and is the mom of two teenagers. She has more than 20 years of front-line development experience under her belt, including the Smithsonian Institution, Boston University, Harvard Medical School and Mass Audubon. What if balance wasn't something you trained from the ground up but something your brain orchestrates moment by moment? In this episode of Somatic Movement and Mindset, Heidi Hadley explores why true balance begins in the brain and nervous system rather than the feet. You'll learn how perception, sensory feedback, and habitual tension patterns influence stability, posture, and confidence in movement, and why simply strengthening or stretching the feet often misses the bigger picture. This conversation brings together neuroscience, somatic awareness, and real-life movement habits to help you rethink balance in a way that feels empowering and practical.

What if opioid withdrawal could visibly ease in 20 minutes and cravings could drop to near zero within days? We sit down with Net Recovery CEO Joe Winston to unpack a wearable neuromodulation device, FDA-cleared for managing opioid withdrawal, that adapts to real-world drug trends and may restore a person's ability to choose. Joe traces an unexpected journey from aerospace and AI to building a handheld system that translates complex waveform expertise into accessible care—and shares how rigorous trials and peer-reviewed data convinced skeptics. We dive into how the device works: gel electrodes behind the ears deliver patterned stimulation that dynamically shifts based on daily assessments of opioid, sedative, and stimulant withdrawal. As supplies change—think xylazine-adulterated fentanyl or emerging veterinary sedatives—the team retools waveforms to meet the moment. The results are striking: measurable relief within an hour, average treatment of three to four days, and early evidence that many patients reduce use of opioids and psychostimulants for months post-treatment, even without medication. That renewed agency becomes the catalyst for aftercare, longer residential stays, and more consistent engagement.Access and scale matter as much as science. We explore delivery in jails where Medicaid interruptions worsen withdrawal, residential programs, and new office-based addiction treatment designed for privacy and minimal life disruption. We also tackle safety and harm reduction—falling tolerance raises overdose risk if someone returns to old doses—and clarify patterns of lapse versus relapse observed in follow-ups. Beyond clinics, Joe lays out a bold public-health vision: statewide jail deployments measured against overdoses, all-cause mortality, and re-arrest. It's a practical, humane plan to meet people where they are and move addiction care forward with data, transparency, and stories of real recovery. If this conversation resonates, follow the show, share it with a colleague, and leave a quick rating. In this episode of Somatic Movement and Mindset, Heidi Hadley explores why trying to change habits through willpower alone often leads to frustration, burnout and self-criticism and what actually works instead. Many habits are not conscious choices. They are automatic patterns driven by the nervous system and reinforced by repetition, stress and past experiences. When the body and brain perceive threat, overload or pressure, they default to what is familiar, even if it is no longer helpful. In this episode, you will learn how lasting change happens when we work with the nervous system rather than against it.We explore how clinical somatic movement and pandiculation are used to interrupt habitual patterns stored in the nervous system. Pandiculation is a voluntary, slow and mindful contraction followed by a controlled release. This process helps the brain receive new sensory feedback from the body, updating outdated motor patterns and reducing unconscious tension.By bringing awareness to the body and gently re engaging the brain body connection, the nervous system is given new information. This allows old habits to soften and dissolve without force, discipline or pushing through resistance.Rather than asking “Why can't I change?”, this approach invites a different question “What is my nervous system protecting me from?”In this episode, Heidi covers: • Why willpower is unreliable under stress • How habits are formed and maintained by the nervous system • The role of sensory feedback in changing behaviour • How pandiculation interrupts unconscious patterns • Why slowing down creates faster long term change • How to create safety in the body so new habits can emergeThis is an episode for anyone who feels stuck in patterns they intellectually understand but struggle to change, whether those habits relate to movement, posture, pain, stress responses, thoughts or behaviours.Join the Global Free Online EventIf this episode resonates with you, Heidi warmly invites you to join her for the global FREE online event, Navigating Midlife, taking place over the weekend of 21st and 22nd February 2026.This online summit brings together practical, evidence informed conversations and tools to support midlife with greater ease, clarity and nervous system regulation. To register for the Navigating Midlife online summit, visit TotalSomatics.com/MidlifeI would love to have you there.
In this powerful and deeply important conversation, Heidi Hadley is joined by financial literacy expert Emy Monday to explore why midlife women are now one of the fastest growing groups at risk of housing insecurity and homelessness and what can be done to change that trajectory.Together, they unpack the often hidden pathways that lead women into vulnerability, including relationship breakdown, family and domestic violence, unpaid caregiving, renting later in life, and long standing financial blind spots that are rarely discussed until it is too late. This episode goes beyond numbers and statistics to gently explore the emotional and nervous system layers that sit underneath money behaviours. Emy shares how scarcity mindset, fear of spending, people pleasing, guilt, and self worth patterns often develop through lived experience, trauma, and generational conditioning rather than poor decision making. The conversation also shines a compassionate light on the silence many women grew up with around money. Heidi and Emy discuss how inherited beliefs about safety, dependence, and independence shape financial confidence and risk tolerance, and how women can break these cycles without blame or shame.Importantly, this episode carries a strong message of hope. If you have ever thought, “I have left it too late,” this conversation is for you. Emy outlines realistic steps women can take now to rebuild financial self trust, create stability, and move toward sustainable independence at any stage of midlife. You will hear practical, accessible guidance on:Why women's homelessness is often undercounted and invisibleThe link between nervous system safety and financial avoidanceGentle ways to reconnect with your numbers without overwhelmBuilding a safety focused budget and financial bufferPlanning for housing stability, even with modest or irregular incomeWhy it is never too late to change your financial directionThis episode is not about personal financial advice. It is about education, empowerment, and creating a future that takes care of you.If you are navigating midlife, supporting someone who is, or want to understand the deeper emotional and systemic factors shaping women's financial wellbeing, this is a conversation you will not want to miss.TO LEARN MORE & CONTACT WITH DR EMY MONDAY, PLEASE VISIT:https://www.dremymonday.comTO REGISTER FOR THE 'NAVIGATING MIDLIFE' SUMMIT IN FEBRUARY 2026, CLICK HERE.
