Imagine you are a woman fleeing domestic violence or homelessness only to find refuge in a long-term women's shelter that is cold, institutional, and filled with prison beds, duct-taped walls, and urine-stained mattresses with no privacy. Too many long-term shelters are like this. For women and children trying to rebuild their lives, it is a dismal, scary place. Terry Grahl, the founder and CEO of Enchanted Makeovers is working to change this. Her volunteer-driven nonprofit refurbishes long-term shelters by making them a place where women and children can thrive in a place that feels like home. Pat Rullo, author and founder of Speak Up Talk Radio contributes handmade pillowcases and portions of her book and podcast competitions to help fund and promote Terry's efforts. Tune into this episode of Women Road Warriors with Terry and Pat to learn about the hope and healing Terry offers as she transforms lives one shelter at a time.https://enchantedmakeovers.org/https://www.speakuptalkradio.com/https://womenroadwarriors.com/https://women-road-warriors.captivate.fm#LongTermShelters #WomensShelters #Hope #Healing #EnchantedMakeovers #TerryGrahl #PatRullo #SpeakUpTalkRadio #WomenRoadWarriors #ShelleyMJohnson #ShelleyJohnson #KathyTuccaro

According to the Chinese zodiac, being a 1972 baby, my star sign is ‘Rat'. They say, apparently, that a rat, when cornered, will fight tooth and nail for its freedom and safety. In that regard, a ‘Rat' is me down to a tee. But I'm not proud of it. I've always admired those who have an under-pressure instinct that tilts toward selflessness, kindness, generosity, understanding and peace rather than aggression. I've discovered that the very best ‘Buddhist Millionaires' have a tendency toward the noble art of compassion and they are not afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves. My guest today, Pat Rullo, is one of those people I aspire to be more like. Having faced hardship, she hasn't resorted to the shows of strength and power so often displayed when one is afraid, but used her courage to help, support and ‘Speak Up' for others. This is a special show with a very special human being. Please take the time to listen, share it with those you think will benefit and help us spread the ‘Buddhist Millionaire' word. Until next time. Lots of love. Matt and the team x

I am happy to announce that Pat Rullo is returning to the show to discuss patient safety issues. Pat is the author of Speak Up and Stay Alive an amazing book and manual on staying alive and being safe in the hospital. Her book is the story of her journey while caring for her mother in the hospital. She learned very quickly that even with the best doctors and nurses, patients could still be a risk for falls, infections and misdiagnosis. Pat is now an expert in all things patient safety related. She has dedicated her life to getting the information to everyone. Beside her book, and many lectures, she is host of the Patient Safety Radio Show, a weekly show heard live in Phoenix and Cleveland areas. Recorded episodes can be downloaded at www.patientsafetyradio.com Pat is relentless in pursuing areas of safety that many people aren't aware of. Today's show will include not just her story but a look at the issues of increased exposure to radiation from CTs,Xrays and cell phones. I know if Pat is concerned, so should I. Listen in folks. This is one show you will want to take notes!
Healthcare Whisperer welcomes Pat Rullo to this week’s show. She is here to discuss her new book “Speak Up and Stay Alive”, How to be a not so patient activist for yourself or a loved one. Pat is on a mission to educate the public about how to stay safe and alive during a hospital stay. She experienced the horror of hospital errors when her mother had shoulder surgery. She learned first hand the need to be vigilant and advocate for a loved one’s care. Pat says, “Hospital safety is such a big problem, this book alone cannot effect a substantial change. As the reader, you have the power to make a difference. I encourage you to join me in a grassroots way. If each of us helps one other person survive a hospital stay, then this book is doing its job.” Be sure to listen in to get some great tips on staying safe in the hospital. Learn how to get involved in the grassroots movement to keep hospitals safe.
