Father & daughter Paul & Alice Hutchinson took to the tenx9 mic with their Hallowe'en stories at Roe Valley Arts Centre in Limavady. It was a wonderful night and it's not often we get a parent/child (Alice is a grown woman to be fair) combo. Tenx9 is a live storytelling event where nine people have up to ten minutes each to tell a true story from their own life on a particular theme. It began in Belfast in 2011 in the Black Box, started by Paul Doran & Pádraig Ó Tuama. You'll find all the upcoming dates at tenx9.com/events, our guidelines at tenx9.com/guidelines & you can submit your stories at tenx9.com/submissions.

One of my favorite lectures of all time. We inquire into some "scary" themes in spiritual life like the potential difference between my will and God's will, as it is understood across various traditions with an emphasis on the life-affirming, immanence-oriented and desire-positive view of the Goddess traditions. We make a few remarks about why vampires as such a good metaphor for Tantrik spirituality and point out how the theme of vampirism appears in our tradition in the form Dākinīs and Yoginīs, Mā's fierce fanged, bloodthirsty attendants! We discuss Dākinī pūjā towards the end. Today marks All Saints' Day, also known as All Hallows' Day or the Feast of All Hallows. That's why Hallowe'en is called that - it's All Hallow's Eve. The day celebrates saints, but the far more interesting day for folklore is tomorrow - All Souls' Day. All Souls' Day marks remembrance of the dead, whether that's visiting graves, praying for the dearly departed, or practising other family customs. Given it's a day dedicated to the dead, I thought it would be a great time to hear some more unnerving and uncanny experiences from listeners of Fabulous Folklore… Find the images and references on the blog post: https://www.icysedgwick.com/supernatural-experiences-4/ Get your free guide to home protection the folklore way here: https://www.icysedgwick.com/fab-folklore/ Become a member of the Fabulous Folklore Family for bonus episodes and articles at https://patreon.com/bePatron?u=2380595 Buy Icy a coffee or sign up for bonus episodes at: https://ko-fi.com/icysedgwick Fabulous Folklore Bookshop: https://uk.bookshop.org/shop/fabulous_folklore Pre-recorded illustrated talks: https://ko-fi.com/icysedgwick/shop Request an episode: https://forms.gle/gqG7xQNLfbMg1mDv7 Get extra snippets of folklore on Instagram at https://instagram.com/icysedgwick Find Icy on BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/icysedgwick.bsky.social 'Like' Fabulous Folklore on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/fabulousfolklore/

Friends of the Rosary,Tomorrow, November 1, is the solemnity of All Saints, and today, October 31, is the Eve of All Saints, commonly known as Halloween. In England, saints or holy people are called “hallowed,” hence the name “All Hallows' Day.”Pope Sixtus IV, in 1484, established November 1 as the feast of All Saints, a holy day of obligation, and assigned both a vigil, “All Hallows' Eve” or “Hallowe'en”. However, the current missal does not have a vigil Mass for the feast. And Halloween is not a liturgical feast on the Catholic calendar. The three consecutive days — Halloween, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day — illustrate the Communion of Saints. The Church Militant — that is, we, those on earth, striving to get to heaven — rejoices and honors the Church Triumphant — the saints, canonized and uncanonized in heaven. And we ask for the Saints' intercession. The Church Militant prays also for the Church Suffering — those souls in Purgatory — especially on All Souls Day and during the entire month of November.Halloween is a combination of the preparation for and celebration of two upcoming feasts. This feast has been adopted by the secular world, with all the demonic and witchcraft imagery, but the roots of the celebration are firmly grounded in Catholic tradition.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Clutch your rosary and uncork your vial of holy water! This week on The Shiver Show, we unleash one of the creepiest episodes of the CBS Radio Mystery Theater: “Possessed by the Devil” (1974). Hosted by the unflappable E.G. Marshall, written by Ian Martin, and scored by horror maestro Hyman Brown, this is a delicious horror classic. There must have been something in the air, because this cautionary tale of possession and damnation came one year after the release of, "The Exorcist" - a film that scared the pants off of anyone who watched it. In Possessed by the Devil, an injured man is wheeled into a hospital ward, and placed beside a dying patient - that's when all hell breaks loose. Donald Buka stars as Mike, the man who falls under spell of Satan - or is it Beelzebub? Greg, our Shiver Show theologian, is still pondering this important question. Mary and Greg discuss the off-the-leash acting, whether the cat was feline or human, and how to make holy water. This is perfect Hallowe'en listening! Join us!Thank you for listening! 📽️🍿

CITR's 24 Hours of Radio Art in a snack-sized format. Dark Ambient. Drone. Field Recordings. Noise. Sound Art. Or something. This Friday night's broadcast features Vincent Price‘s 1969 LP ‘Witchcraft~Magic – An Adventure in Demonology‘ in its entirety, plus primarily dark, yet allergy-friendly Hallowe'en snacks courtesy of Cryo Chamber Records (‘Tomb of Iconoclasts‘), Eighth Tower Records (“A Sonic Tribute to Clive Barker's Hellraiser“), Ethnea Nekrōn, Philly Joe Jones, Ministry, and Wesley Willis.
The Leafs were doubled up by Columbus in a rough night all around—Cayden Primeau struggled and the team looked disjointed. The fellas discuss the ongoing conversation surrounding Easton Cowan’s development amid Toronto’s perennially high expectations. John Tavares quietly hit 500 goals amid the loss, a milestone Ray says is best celebrated later. Elsewhere, Brad Marchand took a leave from the Panthers to support a grieving family friend—an act of compassion reminding everyone what truly matters. Meanwhile, Ottawa, Utah, New Jersey, and Pittsburgh—all praised on the last pod—promptly lost in Tuesday’s Frozen Frenzy, with chaos in Pittsburgh including disallowed goals and Crosby’s mysterious misconduct. In Vancouver, hard skating drills raised eyebrows as Adam Foote tried to jumpstart a depleted lineup as he saw fit considering the team's limited practice time. Plus, extensions for Thomas Harley and Logan Cooley, both 8 years north of $10M per, signal the new going rate for emerging stars in a rising-cap era. Then in Ask Ray and Dregs Anything... rapid fire featuring talking hockey on days off, impressive & underperforming teams, dog-doo conundrums and Hallowe'een hypotheticals.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Since Curdy is missing, the Benefactor returns to keep the show going for Episode 1 of Season 6: Little Green Eggs and Men. As a tribute to the 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast by Orson Welles and Mercury Theater on the Air that terrorized listeners who thought the invasion was real, Cruddy has rewritten the story into a simpler form which is narrated by struggling actor Clench Carbone whose on stage specialty is impersonating Sly Stallone.
