The 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine recognized groundbreaking advances in understanding immune regulation — but what do they mean for people living with autoimmune disease? In this episode, Dr. Shilpa Venkatachalam, Chief Patient-Centered Research and Ethical Oversight Officer at GHLF, joins Steven to explore how our immune system knows when to act — and when to stop. Shilpa explains the importance of these discoveries, why immune “brakes” matter in autoimmune conditions like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, and how research breakthroughs can lead to better treatments. She also shares why patients are key partners in turning lab science into real-world therapies. Tune in to learn how Nobel-winning science could help unlock better care for autoimmune disease. What if adoption were accessible, affordable, and filled with support on both sides? What if women in crisis were met with real help, not judgment—and hopeful families didn't have to navigate the journey alone? In a culture wrestling with the value of life and the meaning of family, a bold vision is reshaping the conversation. Through the love of Christ, faith, compassion, and action are coming together to make a lasting difference. My guest today is Heather Mellott, founder and president of Adoption Finder®. Since launching the organization in 2019, Heather has been on a mission to make adoption more accessible and affordable, support women facing unexpected pregnancies, care for foster youth, and save lives from abortion. She believes every life has intrinsic value and purpose and works to help families be built on love, hope, and lasting support. We are so excited to have two special guests on our episode today–Dave Latorra and Stephanie Ford, who blend science, entrepreneurship, and keepsakes with their company, DNA is Love. Dave and Stephanie approach DNA is Love from each of their areas of expertise in  biology and hospice care, respectively. DNA is Love has discovered a unique way to hold on to the memories of the people and pets in our lives through jewelry, picture frames, and other special items. And, what makes these items so priceless and personal is they contain actual DNA from the people and pets being commemorated–literally their essence. While Dave always had the general idea of somehow preserving DNA as part of family heirlooms, the concept didn't come to fruition until he met Stephanie; she was able to bring the heart to the idea and give it life. Dave and Stephanie agree one of the most rewarding parts of the work is hearing from happy customers who share the joy, peace of mind, and gratitude they feel after receiving these special items. One of the biggest challenges they face, however, is in the marketing of this futuristic product and getting new customers to understand exactly what services are offered. For anyone who is interested in pursuing their own great idea to start a unique science-based company, Dave recommends doing your homework first and Stephanie emphasizes to just go for it!Check out the latest episode on the website: https://welovesciencepodcast.com Tune into this episode to hear Dave and Stephanie discuss:How they brought science together with creating lifelong, family memoriesWhat process is used to purify and verify the DNA in every sample collected What each of them brings to co-founding and running DNA is LoveWhy the reputation of DNA is Love is key to the ethos of the company Reach out to Dave and Stephanie and learn more about DNA is Love on their website: https://dnaislove.com  If you enjoyed this episode, also listen to:Ep 60: The Love Language of Organic Chemistry - The WorkEp 35: How CRISPR Gene Therapy is Bringing Hope to the WorldVisit our store: WeLoveSciencePodcast.comSuggest a guest Reach out to Fatu:www.linkedin.com/in/fatubmInstagram: @thee_fatu_band LoveSciencePodcast@gmail.com Reach out to Shekerah:www.linkedin.com/in/shekerah-primus and LoveSciencePodcast@gmail.com Music from Pixabay: Future Artificial Intelligence Technology 130 by TimMoorMusic from https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Scott_Holmes: Hotshot by ScottHolmesMusic

It's been ten years since the Hope Mill Theatre first opened its doors, transforming a former textile mill into one of the country's most respected independent producing houses. With just over 145 seats, it's an intimate space that's punched well above its weight — staging acclaimed revivals and brand-new work alike, and helping to launch careers both on and off stage. Its productions have included the award-winning Spring Awakening, Rent, Mame, and, later this month, the team are bringing Young Frankenstein to the Hope Mill stage. Andrew Rapaport kicks things off with a heartfelt discussion about the importance of serving Christ worldwide, bringing in a special guest, Timothy Hock, affectionately known as Timo. Timo, a missionary on his way to Uruguay, shares his journey from growing up as a missionary kid to feeling the divine nudge to return and serve the very community that shaped him. The episode dives deep into the pressing need for spiritual guidance in Uruguay, where a staggering number of atheists and agnostics roam, and Timo emphasizes the critical role of training local leaders to foster sustainable church growth. Listeners will not only get a glimpse into Timo's plans for church planting and biblical counseling but also find inspiration to consider their own calling, whether that means supporting missions or serving in their own neighborhoods. With a mix of personal anecdotes and insightful dialogue, this episode is both a call to action and a warm reminder of the global Christian community's shared mission.Takeaways: The podcast highlights the importance of supporting missionaries who serve Christ globally, particularly in regions like Uruguay where the need for the Gospel is profound. Timo, a missionary candidate, emphasizes the significance of training national leaders in Uruguay to ensure sustainable church growth and effective evangelism. Listeners are encouraged to pray for Timo and his wife as they prepare for their mission, especially given the challenges of moving to a new culture while expecting a child. The conversation underscores that while some are called to international missions, many can serve effectively within their local communities, making a difference where they are. Timo shares his background as a missionary kid, underscoring how personal experiences shape one's calling and commitment to serve in the mission field. The episode discusses the need for biblical counseling in Uruguay, emphasizing how equipping locals with training can significantly impact the spiritual landscape of the country. In many nations, Christian women face extreme persecution, and often their situations are too shameful to publicly acknowledge. The social stigma attached to these acts of violence frequently becomes a barrier when attempting to effectively prosecute the perpetrators of such attacks. Beyond the broader gender-based persecution affecting marginalized communities, Christian women and girls endure targeted sexual violence, trafficking, and even threats against their lives, as forms of punishment for their faith. Despite these attempts to silence Christian voices through terror, there is hope for our persecuted sisters in Christ. Greg Musselman, host of the Closer to the Fire podcast, speaks with “Kate” (whose real name is being withheld for security reasons) about why believers in the West have a critical role in addressing the suffering of our Christian sisters, and what we can do to help bring them hope and healing. With over 35 years of experience in rescuing victims of human trafficking, India Partners continues to make a profound impact on the lives of the most vulnerable. The Horrific Reality in IndiaIndia is a nation of contrasts—technologically advanced in many respects, yet home to nearly 300 million people living in extreme poverty. Among the most vulnerable are young girls, some as young as eight, who are trafficked into red-light districts and subjected to unimaginable horrors. These girls endure horrific conditions, facing abuse daily in slums filled with filth and open sewage. The purpose of this abuse is to break their spirits, forcing them to believe they have no escape and no hope of a future.India Partners, a ministry that has been rescuing victims of human trafficking for over 40 years, works tirelessly to save these young girls from this life of exploitation. Through their rescue efforts, they take these girls from the red-light districts to safe houses where they receive love, care, and, most importantly, the hope of Jesus.Safe Houses: A Place for HealingIndia Partners' safe houses offer full care, including room and board, private Christian education, medical attention, and trauma counseling. Each girl receives individual and group therapy to address the deep wounds inflicted upon them. Over time, these girls are not only physically rescued but spiritually healed, learning their true identity in Christ as beloved daughters of God.How You Can HelpAs stewards of God's resources, we have a role to play in alleviating this suffering. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, they kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image.
