Check, live from the 2-1-6. Either respect the pod or learn your lesson! Coach E, Mr. TaBoo Timmons and Xen are back with another Game For All Seasons for you.  Here to join us and take us on this audio joyride this week is former NFL player, Pierre Woods.  He is a genuine person and his authenticity emanates throughout our conversation. This is one that you're sure to enjoy! As usual, we give you another installment of "Gettin' To Know Coach E" where  Coach E and Pierre get nostalgic on their days of playing with one another and against each other.  (4:07). From there, we jump into Pierre's football journey. We take it back to his high school days at Glenville High where he played with 2 future NFL first round draft picks, but you'll never guess who he credits as the best player that he played with on that team. He, also, shares great practice story involving former 14 year NFL WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (17:46). He discusses how his childhood communities factored into decision to go to the University of Michigan over Ohio State and other schools. (21:25).He gives us a surprising look into what it's like from the Michigan side of the Ohio State/ Michigan rivalry game (38:46).He takes on the road of going from an undrafted free agent to making the 53 man roster of the New England Patriots. He also tells us what it was like to play with the greatest QB all time (Tom Brady), play for the greatest NFL coach of all time (Bill Belichick), the psychological manipulation that he does to get the  players to play their best, and his team being one game short of becoming the greatest team of all-time (50:27).He also gives the highs and the lows of playing such a physical sport, and he answers whether he would play football again given all that  he knows now (1:15:01).And so much more. As always, Coach E sends us out on our week with the post game word "Don't Let Your Experiences Change Your Expectations" (1:31:50). Remember to subscribe, rate & review wherever you get your podcasts from. WITH SPECIAL GUEST JOHN NAVARRE The Sponsor: If you're buying or reselling, talk to Matt Demorest at HomeSure Lending now and see if you can't lock in a low rate while it lasts. In addition to being more ethical, knowledgeable, hands-on, intelligent, and fun to work with, Matt's cool. Previously: 1879, 1901, 1918, 1925, 1932, 1940, 1947, 1950, 1964, 1973, 1976, 1980, 1985 p.1& p.2, 1988, 1991, 1999, 2011 p.1 & p.2 [Writeup and player after THE JUMP] 1. Intro and The Team (starts at 1:00) There's Early Carr (Woodson, Tom Brady, etc.) and Late Carr (Henne & Hart), but nobody talks about the Middle Carr years of 2001-2003. We revisit this generation at its peak, as a senior-quarterbacked team with a great defense goes on its own revenge tour against various types of spreads, plus Jim Tressel. 2. The John Navarre Story (starts at 39:25)   The kid from Cudahy with a rocket arm and no chill shares that he was once committed to Northwestern until Rand Walker took over for Gary Barnett and the Cats went to spread. Had Barry Alvarez not been honest about a tight end offer we'd have another Wisconsin tight end. John's coaches hit most of the nasty fan stuff from him, but it was also far worse than you realize. The 2001 loss was a low point.   3. The Nonconference (starts at 1:03:53) CMU did not feel like a 45-7 game but Steve Breaston felt like a phenom. Trouncing Art Briles's second-ever game as a head coach was thrilling because his four-wide spread was goofy. Pierre Woods had a fingernail torn off. Trouncing Notre Dame, well, that was…weird? John thinks it was weird. The Oregon game was weirder. Seth's complete list of special teams follies. 4. The Big Ten Part I (starts at 1:41:06) via WH Indiana stifles the offense but defense and special teams are believers. The game with the weird spread punt formation, which we all agree wasn't the reason Michigan lost (Narrator: But it was). The greatest comeback in Michigan history against Minnesota, with tips on how the Transcontinental is coached. Breeze past Illinois to spread-ass Purdue, who gets shut down because the cornerbacks are too good for everybody. The Chris Perry Game. The Jason Avant Catch Game. 5. The Nonconference (starts at 2:11:19) The Game, when Braylon was on, Avant got hurt, Perry shined, and the offensive line shut down most of the 2002 champions. Also the Rose Bowl against USC, and where this team stands among the pantheon. -------------------------------------------- MUSIC: "Modern Girls & Old Fashioned Men"—Regina Spektor and the Strokes "Wet Blanket"—Metric "A Gentleman Caller"—Cursive "Mayday Disorder"—Apollo Sunshine “Across 110th Street” THE USUAL LINKS Helpful iTunes subscribe link General podcast feed link What's with the theme music?

On Ep. 21 we have retired NFL linebacker Pierre Woods on the show to talk Cleveland culture in the late 80s/early 90s, being a trailblazer being one of the 1st players to attend a Big Ten university from an inner city high school and having major early success at the University of Michigan. Woods gives grave detail on why after being an All-Big Ten player his sophomore year he subsequently fell out the starting line up, played sparingly and mostly on special teams for his last 2 years. Going undrafted in the 2006 NFL Draft, Woods earned a roster spot with the New England Patriots and played 5 years for the organization including the 18-1 season in 2007 only losing one game which was in Super Bowl XLII. Woods gives an inside look on playing with and learning from Hall Of Fame linebackers like Teddy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel, Junior Seau (RIP) and playing with his Michigan brother Tom Brady alongside one of the best WRs to ever strap on a helmet in Randy Moss. A minimized subject, Woods talks about his transition away from the game and the struggles that come as athletes try to find themselves post playing career. Listen to a hometown hero tell his story his way. Don't forget to rate this episode!

Ted Ginn Sr. is one of the more celebrated high school coaches in Ohio, much less in the country. His Glenville high program has sent dozens of players to the NFL, from Pierre Woods, to Cardale Jones. ( "without this system, Cardale would have been lost. There are lots of kids like that") Theres Heisman winner Troy Smith, Ted Ginn Sr, his son...Marshon Lattimore, Frank Clark. The list goes on and on. But what Ginn does that helps him stand out is how he takes at risk kids, and helps them realize their purpose in life. Its no small feat. Ginn went from being a machinist, to a volunteer coach, to a school security guard, to the man who led Glenvilles football and track fortunes. But his biggest accomplishment. His legacy is the Ginn Academy, a school for at risk youth. Ginn says mentoring is an every day thing. You can't helicopter in once a week and make an impact. Its an every day thing. No shortcuts. Take that dynamic and multiply it by the hundreds, and thats what Ginn does. Every day. It has not been easy, and he has battled the deadly disease, of pancreatic cancer, which he says in the interview , is a "blessing". But Ginn is undaunted. He won't step away. Full disclosure, I was one of a handful of people who spoke at his 60th birthday celebration in 2015. I have known him a long time. Have covered his teams. We kind of connect on a spiritual front. I hope you enjoy the interview and check out the other episodes of this podcast I have done. Thank you!! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/john-telich/message

Craig does his weekly spot on Dawgs on the Run with Andy Baskin and Pierre Woods for WEWS. The question is whether or not Mike Pettine and Joe Haden have issues over the fact that Joe didn't go in a loss to the Chargers yesterday. Far be it for me to question the health and heart of Joe Haden, but after watching Mike Pettine's post-game comments it sure seemed like maybe his coach had issues with Haden's unwillingness to play with a broken finger.
