Ted Ginn Sr. isn't just a coach—he's a football legend.
Originally aired July 2024. Ian Hartitz (Fantasy Life) and host Thomas Emerick want you to get in, because we're headin' back to Wildcat Season. Did it feel like a fever dream on rewatch? A question we'll try to answer, while the 12.5-point underdog Dolphins snap New England's 21-game regular season win streak — despite being on a 1-21 stretch(!) That all changes when Tony Sparano signs off on a play design where Ronnie Brown receives the snap and either runs, hands off to Ricky Williams, or passes to Anthony Fasano. And they debut it in Foxborough. This is Remember That Game, the podcast about sporting events that take you on a journey and chart the path of the zeitgeist. Ted Ginn Sr., founder of The Ginn Academy and football coach at Cleveland Glenville High School, sits with Says Who Sports to share his perspectives on the importance to his community of Glenville's back-to-back state championships, his love for Cleveland and why he has turned down high-profile coaching jobs elsewhere, what he calls the “Opt-Out Generation” in terms of players avoiding hard work and seeking shortcuts to greatness, the big money of N.I.L. being paid to young players ill-equipped to handle it, the emotional damage being caused to kids and adults alike by immersion in cell phones and social media, the urgent need for a societal return to focus on family and faith, the importance of never giving up on kids, his educational efforts on behalf of girls and young ladies (not just boys and young men), and much more!

Commentator Terry Pluto talks about Cleveland's Glenville High School football team, led by legendary coach Ted Ginn Sr. They play for the Division IV state title on Saturday.
In the early 2000s, no high school program churned out talent to the Ohio State Buckeyes quite like the Glenville Tarblooders. From Heisman winner Troy Smith, to future first-round draft picks like Ted Ginn, Jr., Donte Whiter, and Marshon Lattimore, Glenville was a huge part of the Buckeye football program. Now, after a few quiet years, the Glenville-to-Ohio State pipeline could start flowing again. Buckeye Scoop's Marc Givler just spent the day scouting a pair of talented Tarblooders as well as some other elite prospects from the state at the Best Of The Midwest camp. He joins host Tom Orr to discuss what he learned.- The 2024 corner with top-end speed who already holds an Ohio State offer- The prospect named the best linebacker of the day, whose future could be on the defensive line- The next great wide receiver out of one of this year's state finalists- A running back from way off the map who could be the next big thing in the state
The Kenny & JT Show is live from the Pro Football Hall of Fame and we're joined by legendary Cleveland Glenville head football coach Ted Ginn, Sr. and his son Ted Ginn, Jr., former Ohio State and NFL wide receiver. Miami Dolphins Tales From The DeepRaised in Oakland, California, Davone Bess starred at Skyline High School under the direction of Oakland area coaching legend, John Beam. Bess received a scholarship offer to Oregon State, however a post-graduation arrest led to the loss of his scholarship and more than a year in the Byron Boys Ranch Juvenile Facility. With help from Coach Beam, Bess overcame the odds and ultimately attended the University of Hawaii, where he would set school records with 293 receptions and 41 touchdowns in just three seasons. Despite his success at Hawaii, Bess went undrafted in 2008 and signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent. Bess not only made the team, but finished the regular season with 54 receptions, second most in NFL history for an undrafted rookie wideout. In one of the most powerful Fish Tank episodes to date, Davone candidly shares the details of his arrest after high school, as well as the lessons he learned while incarcerated. He fondly recalls his days with the Miami Dolphins, including barbeques at Paul Soliai's house, and the camaraderie he shared with fellow wide receivers Ted Ginn, Jr. and Greg Camarillo. Davone is also extremely honest and vulnerable as he opens up about his post career struggles with depression.

1. Week 13 Takeaways Me: -Regardless of how the Steelers season ends, give Mike Tomlin Coach of the Year honors!!!! Hal: Could we be headed for a Super Bowl XLVII rematch in February? 2. Truth/Exaggeration -The Broncos should put Von Miller and his MCL sprain on ice for the remainder of the season -Tom Brady only has at MOST three years remaining in his illustrious NFL career -If the Tennessee Titans make it to the playoffs, they’ll be the team NOBODY wants to face -The Seahawks and 49ers are not only on a collision course to likely decide who wins the division in Week 17, but on a collision course to meet a third time in the playoffs as well! -After Sunday’s loss to the Duck Hodges-led Steelers. Freddie Kitchens is back on the hot seat in Cleveland and a top candidate to be fired at season’s end -Baylor head coach Matt Rhule should be the number one candidate for all NFL teams with a head coaching vacancy 3. Coaching Carousel -Most ideal potential landing spot for Ron Rivera: Jaguars, Giants, Falcons, Lions, Browns, Redskins, Cowboys -Top candidates for Panthers job: 4. Game of the Week: Ravens at Bills -No defense other than the 49ers has done a better job against the Ravens offense this season. How capable is the Bills defense of doing as good or an even better job containing Lamar Jackson than the Niners did? -How much more dangerous does the emergence of Ed Oliver make this Buffalo D? What does he add that wasn’t there earlier in the season? -Everybody, and rightfully so, is praising the Ravens for designing a run first offense to suit Lamar Jackson’s strengths. But shouldn’t more people be saying the same about the Bills and what they’ve done with Josh Allen? According to ESPN’s Field Yates, both QB’s have a combined 1,407 rushing yards this season and on Sunday, that will represent the highest such total by opposing QB’s in the same game in NFL history. Josh Allen was heavily doubted by most (myself included) during the pre-draft process in 2018. How has he exceeded your expectations so far? -Key matchups: Tremaine Edmunds vs. Lamar Jackson, Ed Oliver versus any Ravens interior OL not named Marshal Yanda, Hollywood Brown vs. Tre’Davious White -Game picks 5. Game of the Week: 49ers at Saints -Just like the Patriots passing game has enormous questions outside of Julian Edelman, the Saints passing game has enormous questions outside of Michael Thomas. None of their two other main WR’s (Tre’Quan Smith and Ted Ginn, Jr.) have had more than two receptions in a game since Week 3. Do you see the 49ers coming up with a similar plan for this game as the Texans had for the Patriots last week (double Thomas and daring Smith and Ginn to beat them)? -The 49ers almost did everything right last week to beat the Ravens. The main difference in the game turned out to be arguably Jimmy Garoppolo’s first quarter fumble. Could a turnover-free performance from Garoppolo this week be THE key to a Niners win? -Key matchups: Fred Warner vs. Alvin Kamara, DeForest Buckner vs. Eric McCoy, -Game picks 6. Game of the Week: Chiefs at Patriots -What did the Texans do to get more than their fair share of big plays in the passing game against the Patriots secondary last weekend and how can the Chiefs do so? -X Factors: How significant can the presence of Mecole Hardman be in this game? If there is a Patriots pass catcher not named Edelman or James White that can go off against this Chiefs pass defense, who is it? -Key matchups: Tyreek Hill vs. Stephon Gilmore, Chiefs RB’s/Travis Kelce vs. Patriots LB’s -Game picks

Ted Ginn Sr. is one of the more celebrated high school coaches in Ohio, much less in the country. His Glenville high program has sent dozens of players to the NFL, from Pierre Woods, to Cardale Jones. ( "without this system, Cardale would have been lost. There are lots of kids like that") Theres Heisman winner Troy Smith, Ted Ginn Sr, his son...Marshon Lattimore, Frank Clark. The list goes on and on. But what Ginn does that helps him stand out is how he takes at risk kids, and helps them realize their purpose in life. Its no small feat. Ginn went from being a machinist, to a volunteer coach, to a school security guard, to the man who led Glenvilles football and track fortunes. But his biggest accomplishment. His legacy is the Ginn Academy, a school for at risk youth. Ginn says mentoring is an every day thing. You can't helicopter in once a week and make an impact. Its an every day thing. No shortcuts. Take that dynamic and multiply it by the hundreds, and thats what Ginn does. Every day. It has not been easy, and he has battled the deadly disease, of pancreatic cancer, which he says in the interview , is a "blessing". But Ginn is undaunted. He won't step away. Full disclosure, I was one of a handful of people who spoke at his 60th birthday celebration in 2015. I have known him a long time. Have covered his teams. We kind of connect on a spiritual front. I hope you enjoy the interview and check out the other episodes of this podcast I have done. Thank you!! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/john-telich/message
On today's DolphinsTalk.com Daily Podcast I talk about the Ryan Fitzpatrick signing and why this move makes sense for Miami short term. I also talk about DeVante Parker and should Miami Dolphins fans give him a second chance and are our expectations of him correct? Could Parker turn into the next Ted Ginn; a guy who doesn't live up to the first round pick status but could still be a quality WR in this league? I close the show talking about what the Dolphins should do when it comes to drafting a quarterback. Draft one in 2019 or 2020?

RotoUnderworld Radio - First Mover Podcast Ep 18: The Podfather Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion) revels in C.J. Anderson, a blimp with legs, trolling DFS grinders and extreme tilting that ensued. Sony Michel captured all the fantasy points. James White continues be an incredible value. Damien Williams is a true NFL bell cow but the brand equity has yet to arrive. Jared Goff led the NFL in money throws. Alvin Kamara is a must-play again this week. Michael Thomas is good at sex. Ted Ginn is dangerous again. Rob Gronkowski has been strangely bad. Travis Kelce is a chalk play this week. Sammy Watkins looks back to 100% health. Phillip Dorsett had the last laugh. Demetrius Harris is an excellent pending free agent tight end. Chris Conley should be ashamed. Gerald Everett and Josh Reynolds could be deployed in the passing game this week. No one should care about Spencer Ware. Kenyan Drake lost carries to the mummified remains of Frank Gore. Rod Smith and T.J. Yeldon are underrated pending free agents. Lin-Manuel Miranda's departure made Hamilton an even better show. Hosted by Jeremy Hardt with Guest Hasan Rahim Questions & Answers Jeremy and Hasan pull out the taeks, starting with making a contrarian case for Rob Gronkowski this Divisional Playoff Weekend. The guys discuss why they like the Under on the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts game, and why they like the Over on the Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints game. Ezekiel Elliott and Todd Gurley are primed for big weeks on both sides of that game, and they discuss the cheap targets available from Ted Ginn and Nelson Agholor. Lastly, they discussed Dynasty Football implications for both the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Steelers 28 Saints 31 This was a body blow. This game was starting to give you the belief that the Steelers could sustain a run into the playoffs by taking it to the Saints in the Super Dome. Of course that hope was extinguished as we entered into the final phase of the game with some costly turnovers, but elements of the demise emerged early in the game with letdowns on defense and some agonizing (and questionable) penalties. Officiating Because of its inconsistency and the way it imposes itself on the game, officiating is making games more frustrating than fair, bordering on watchable. Some bad calls (e.g., pass interference on Alvin Kamara in the end zone, setting Saints up at the Steeler one yard line) have significant implications for the outcome of the game. Our contention is that this is less about the quality of the officials than it is about a game with complex rules injected with significant subjectivity where bright lines and common sense should be the rule. NFL - get your act together. Late choke - Defense With 1:41 left in the game and the Saints facing a 3rd down and 20 from Pittsburgh’s 30 yard line, Ted Ginn found himself only an uninhabited island in the middle of the field at the Steeler 12 yard line. He managed to surge another 5 yards before Joe Haden brought him down at the 7 yard line. Two plays later Brees hit Michael Thomas in the end zone putting the Saints up for good, 31-28 with 1:25 left in the game. Late choke - Offense By 10:21 of the 4th quarter, the Steelers had driven 41 yards to the NO 34 yard line. With 3rd and 2, Ben handed the ball to Stevan Ridley who headed for the A gap. In the melee, Ridley coughed up the ball, ending a very promising drive. With the ball back at 5:41 with 2nd and 5 from the Pittsburgh 42, Ben dropped back to pass. As Demario Davis charged in, Jaylen Samuels executed a perfect swim move, allowing Davis unimpeded access to Ben, bringing him down for a 9 yard loss. The Steelers couldn’t convert on 3rd and 14 leading to the fake punt leaving us one yard short and handing the ball back to the Saints at the Steeler 46. Steelers Made This Bed Mike Tomlin said it after the game, “We made the bed, we’ll lay in it”. If teams can be forgiven for dropping games to top-tier talent, they can’t be excused for losing to teams with combined records off 16-26-1 (Cleveland, Denver, Oakland). A win against any one of those teams, and we’re not sitting here hoping the Browns can beat the Ravens in Baltimore next week. Please drop us a note: Check out our **NEW** Instagram site! Stacking Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison are both exceptional values in fantasy football leagues. Ted Ginn is not dead yet. Jay Ajayi is way overvalued in fantasy drafts. Giovani Bernard is a top Zero RB target. Alvin Kamara could break the RB committee trend in New Orleans. Projecting the target share of Panthers players like Christian McCaffrey and D.J. Moore is very challenging. Rashaad Penny is a great pick in round 4 of fantasy drafts. Saquon Barkley looks the part of a top-5 fantasy running back. Saints deliver a Merry #$%ing Christmas with a victory over the Falcons. The game will forever be known as 'The Emaculate Butception' game. Ralph flew into NOLA Sunday morning at 7:30 for the game. His travels were interesting. The Saints 23-13 win was so much more than Marshon Lattimore's amazing pick. It was 5 Matt Ryan sacks, Manti T'eo looking like Mike Singletary, and Ted Ginn doing 'The Full Ginn'. Should we care Atlanta looked like hot garbage and the refs helped the Saints?
