How would the episode "Rumor Has It" change if Caitlin Ryan weren't the main character? ...That's not just a hypothetical question! We have a real answer, straight from the official Degrassi Junior High planning documents from April of 1986 (almost an entire year before this episode aired!), which Eevee and Degrassi Kid were able to access during their recent trip to the Degrassi Archives at the University of Toronto -- and we're going to share it all with you! After reviewing the planning documents, we discussed the episode "Rumor Has It", which aired on February 22, 1987! Episode description: Many of Ms. Avery's students think that she is a lesbian. Caitlin insists that her teacher isn't gay. After dreaming that her classmates think that she is also gay, Caitlin begins to feel self-conscious at school. Thank you so much for listening! Feedback and sharing this with friends and fellow Degrassi fans are both much appreciated! This week, Justin, Dave, and Ashley watched Rumor Has It. Here's the synopsis. “Living in New York City, Sarah (Jennifer Aniston) must make the cross-country trip back to her home state of California for the wedding of her younger sister (Mena Suvari). Once with her family, Sarah learns some interesting things from her grandmother (Shirley MacLaine), including the family's inspirational ties to the famous film "The Graduate." But all this leads to millionaire Beau Burroughs (Kevin Costner), and Sarah wants answers -- especially since Burroughs might be her real father.” The team is joined this week by Jake and Ranke for the LAST EVER regularly scheduled episode of Why Are People Watching This?. Everyone found this to be a.... problematic film. Whether it's the incest or the gaslighting, there were lots of reasons to squirm. Dave tried to find some sort of message in the film, but even an extra large bag of red yard couldn't help him connect the dots. Jake was befuddled and confused. Ranke found all of the characters to be irredeemable - especially Jennifer Aniston. Ashley was amazed by the "old tech" and couldn't believe that there was a time when people used to "call" the "operator" to ask the names/address of people in the "directory". Justin could not believe that the main plot point of this film was the "hilarious" problem of whether the people having sex were possibly father and daughter. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whyarepeoplewatchingthis/support

Kathleen Denly has done it again! Her next book in the Chapparal Hearts series releases on the sixteenth, and with a title like Murmur in the Mud Caves, it promises to be another delightful book. Everyone knows I'm a huge fan of this series, so listen in and learn some of the things Kathleen encountered in her research and writing. Oh, and help me convince her and her publisher that we really do want seven books in the series. Note: links may be affiliate links that provide me with a small commission at no extra expense to you. Rumor Has It, Murmur in the Mud Caves Promises to Be Excellent! Note to all: I apologize for the lateness. Wrenched my ankle in Scotland yesterday and it took a while to get going today. At least it's still morning in the States! Okay, as for this rumor, yeah. I started it. However, I totally stand behind it. 100%. If Kathleen Denly wrote it, I'm reading it. If it's in the Chapparal Hearts series, I guarantee I'll like it. Woot! Taking us out into the desert a bit, this book gives us a Civil War veteran, a few stubborn women, and bandits. What more could we ask for? How about Kathleen's brilliant storytelling? That's what! If you have any doubts about my opinions on these books, you can check out reviews HERE. Murmur in the Mud Caves by Kathleen Denly He came to cook for ranch hands, not three single women. Gideon Swift, a visually impaired Civil War Veteran, responds to an ad for a ranch cook in the Southern California desert mountains. He wants nothing more than to forget his past and stay in the kitchen where he can do no harm. But when he arrives to find his employer murdered, the ranch turned to ashes, and three young women struggling to survive in the unforgiving Borrego Desert, he must decide whether his presence protects them or places them in greater danger. Bridget “Biddie” Davidson finally receives word from her older sister who disappeared with their brother and pa eighteen years prior, but the news is not good. Determined to help her family, Biddie sets out for a remote desert ranch with her adopted father and best friend. Nothing she finds there is as she expected, including the man who came to cook for the shambles of a ranch. When tragedy strikes, the danger threatens not only her plans to help her sister, but her own dreams for the future—with the man who's stolen her heart. Indra and Sneha from the Project Mindy podcast recap ‘Rumor Has It,' S3 Ep5 of Family Karma on Bravo TV. After a doozy of an episode, they discuss Rishi and Monica's drama, including the timeline of events, what was actually revealed to Amrit and NIcholas (that we know about), Rishi's lies, Monica's disappointment, and what Raj Uncle had to say about all of it. They also talk about Brian and Amrit's heated argument, Richa and Vishal's ongoing relationship issues, and why it's ridiculous that Bravo didn't have a Family Karma cast member on What's What Happens Live this week. We had a great conversation with country artist Clay Walker. We talked about so many things around his life, not just music. It was such a fun conversation we had. We talked God, family, music, sacrifices, he told some great stories plus a whole lot more! We also talked about Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Toby Keith and more! There's more to the duality of Clay Walker's debut Show Dog Nashville album Texas To Tennessee than the title. Certainly, the realities of place are as central as this comeback album's name implies: Nashville busily working toward the next fresh hit; Texas moving at its inimitable and familiar pace. There's also a mix of songwriting and production approaches, evident and more nuanced relationships between the songs themselves, and the overarching presence of a naturally gifted vocalist who relentlessly pursues his own development as a singer. But don't mistake those dualities for dichotomy – and certainly not polarity. In a storied career dotted with smash singles, platinum albums and countless honors and acclaim, maybe the connection between country's timeless themes and music-of-the-moment timeliness has been there all along. Many of the country fans behind the almost 20 million on-demand and video streams for his latest single "Need A Bar Sometimes" – who may also be among his 750,000 TikTok followers – are wholly unaware of Walker's history. Discovered in a Beaumont area bar by noted producer and head of Giant Records James Stroud (Toby Keith, Tracy Lawrence, Tim McGraw, Kenny Rogers), Walker was in his early twenties when he started rattling off a string of smash hits. Among them, “Live Until I Die,” "Dreaming With My Eyes Open," “This Woman And This Man,” "Hypnotize The Moon," "Rumor Has It," “Then What,” "I Can't Sleep" and "She Won't Be Lonely Long." His self-titled debut album rocketed to platinum status, the first of four to cross the million-sold mark. Racking up more than 30 charted singles and 11 No. 1s wasn't without its struggles, however."Being born and raised in the Houston area, I thought of myself in the line of George Strait and Clint Black, but my first producer had other ideas," Walker says. "James Stroud pushed me more towards pop sounds I fought with. What he was saying, and I think he was right, was, 'Clay, you've got some gears to you that will excite people if you let it.' I was young – 23 – and didn't really settle with that. But now I'm in a sweet spot in music, in life, and I definitely feel the audience has swung around to appreciating music that makes those connections."
