Imagine how you feel if you were ever told... "You are no longer as remarkable as you once were." "Perhaps you should try something else." "Other people are now better than you." Personally, I've been there. Today's podcast guest, Hannibal Navies has also been there. After almost 10 years in the NFL, he realized there were other options for him to "contribute to others" that didn't require him being on the field. He always knew he has a passion to help others and started a foundation when he was an active player. This allowed him to continue to pursue his passion and ONE OF HIS DREAMS. This gentleman has many, and they all include "doing" for others and giving back. He now serves as the Vice President of Development for Athletes Charitable (https://athletescharitable.org/) (part of United Charitable; https://unitedcharitable.org) in which he is helping athletes develop philanthropic opportunities to assist others in need. The live event interview focuses on philanthropy and how United Charitable helps individuals and businesses to give back easily. Hannibal shares his journey from an NFL career to founding the 360 Sports Academy Foundation, emphasizing the importance of leadership through athletics and helping young student athletes navigate life's challenges. The discussion encourages viewers to chase their passions, try new things, and use their platforms for positive impact. Lessons include the value of giving back, finding personal fulfillment through helping others, and overcoming the fears associated with transitioning from one career to another. More about Hannibal Navies; Hannibal Navies is leading the charge at Athletes Charitable as Vice President of Development. Hannibal is a 9-year NFL Veteran, social entrepreneur, influencer, and founder of 360 Sports Academy and the Hannibal Navies Foundation.  In addition to being part of the brotherhood of the NFL, Hannibal is passionate about philanthropy and social good efforts that create meaningful change in disenfranchised communities. His education includes an executive MBA and entrepreneurial certification from Harvard University.  He most recently served as the Director of Engagement & Outreach for The Trust, powered by the National Football Players Association. This effort provides transitioning NFL players with the support and resources needed to ensure their success outside the game of football. His leadership in this work reflects the dedication that Hannibal has for empowering professional athletes and his desire to see them thrive beyond their sports careers.  Hannibal has made an impact on the lives of several professional athletes through his work, personal influence and mentorship. His extensive experience as an entrepreneur, public speaker and philanthropist have groomed and qualified him for his role at Athletes Charitable. And while most people can't relate to playing football at the highest level like our guest this week did, everyone can learn from his valiant comeback — from bankrupt and working part-time, to an inspirational public speaker.    After spending five years in the NFL as an offensive lineman, Marques retired from the league. At 27, he founded a construction company called Kayden Premier Enterprises, which eventually went bankrupt in 2010. During his darkest hours, Marques pulled himself together, got a part-time job as a custodian, and with hard work and determination became an inspirational keynote speaker, executive coach, best-selling author, and marketing leader.    Tune into the full conversation for more on Marques' NFL career, what he calls his “spoiled milk” moment that helped him turn his life around, how he managed to get out of survival mode, what surprised him most about life in the NFL, and a lot more.   Here's a Glimpse of What You'll Learn:   How Marques got through one of the hardest times of his life — losing his company in 2013 — and how he bounced back from everything he went through trying to keep it afloat More about Marques' time in “survival mode” — including getting fired twice in a week, working as a custodian and birthday cloud, and eventually how he turned everything around The grant that helped keep Marques from being homeless, and how he built upon that building block for even greater success The thing that surprised Marques the most during his NFL career A breakdown of Marques' regular schedule when he was in the NFL, including the invisible hours outside of game time that fans don't usually see Why Marques tells all athletes that their sport cannot be their “long-term” career Why an NFL line of scrimmage is an “absolute war zone”  More about Marques' rock-bottom moment from his time working as a custodian — plus the realization he had afterwards that changed his life The “4 V's” that Marques teaches his coaching clients, in order to get to the fifth V — “victory” How Marques measures success in his business and life    Resources Mentioned in This Episode:  Marquesogden.com Get Authentic with Marques Ogden Podcast “The Success Cycle: 3 Keys for Achieving Your Goals in Business and Life” by Marques Ogden “Sleepless Nights: The NFL: A Business and Family” by Marques Ogden “The Breakthrough Code: A Story About Living a Life Without Limits” by Tom McCarthy Buy a copy of “Lost at CEO: An Entrepreneur's Guide to Strategy” by Carl J. Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy's momentum continues to gain steam. A Native American group has put the rush on against the Washington Commanders and demanded the organization revert its name to "Redskins" – the name the team adopted when it was in Boston in 1933. Retired NFL star Michael Oher, whose supposed adoption out of grinding poverty by a wealthy, white family was immortalized in the 2009 movie "The Blind Side," petitioned a Tennessee court Monday with allegations that a central element of the story was a lie concocted by the family to enrich itself at his expense. David Vobora is the Founder of Adaptive Training Foundation, he is a Retired NFL linebacker, and a Keynote Speaker. In January of 2014, David Vobora, a 5-year veteran of the NFL, met US Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills, a quadruple amputee. David opened up his personal gym to Travis, offering his training expertise. The pair started working out together, customizing and adapting to the unique challenges posed by Travis' injuries. Through working with Travis and engaging the veteran community, David developed a passion for helping those with life-altering injuries find life-fulfilling adaptive performance training. David realized that, while there are many excellent rehabilitation programs as well as adaptive/Paralympic sports organizations, none existed to bridge the gap from basic functional rehabilitation to adapted sport. Adaptive Training Foundation (ATF) was conceived to fill this void. He continued helping adaptive athletes create sustainable lifestyle changes over the next six months, and by September of 2014, Adaptive Training Foundation had received its 501(c)3 status to allow outside support for these ambitious athletes. To this day, ATF is committed to keeping its services to adaptive athletes 100% free of charge, and relies on the generosity of people like yourself to not only restore lives, but empower them through movement. Meet Soul Cole Brandon Coleman, or as he is more commonly referred to as SOUL COLE, is a retired NFL player for the New Orleans Saints. After suffering a career-ending injury in 2018, he transitioned into the health and wellness space, becoming a Certified Health & Wellness Coach. Dealing with physical pain, depression, and anxiety, Coleman found his way back to himself by utilizing tools such as therapy, meditation, yoga, breathwork, and sound healing. Coleman was able to reprogram his body, and SOUL COLE emerged with a different kind of strength from his newly garnered practices.    His own personal experiences with injury and loss have given SOUL COLE a unique and profound respect for the value of not only physical but mental and emotional health. Understanding the significance of the tools he received was a catalyst for him achieving a Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate at Georgetown University School of Continuing Study as well as completing the MBSR program from the Mindfulness Center at Brown University, School of Public Health. SOUL COLE is committed to helping others refine and redefine their lives by giving them tools to attain balance, intention, and wellness.   Soul Cole is now a Flow Facilitator, Mental Performance Coach, Certified Breath Coach, and Sound Healing Practitioner. He is intense, driven and places high value on faith, family, and morality. To learn more, go to soulcolethebrand.com.    You Need To Listen To Your Body Soul was gearing up to put his 20 years of hard work into playing for the NFL until he suffered a traumatic injury to his neck and back. He continued to push himself and ended up with surgery that had him shut down on every level. Not knowing how to handle such trauma and up against the stigma of getting support, Soul found himself in a dark and lonely place that led to depression and despair. It was in his desperation that he says that God got his undivided attention, and he started to address the deeper trauma and grief. One of the biggest learnings that Soul talked about is the importance of listening and trusting your body. Everything is connected - the physical, mental, and emotional aspects are all part of a larger integrative body system.    The Power of Surrendering Your Ego  In his dark night of the soul, he finally chose to surrender his ego and saw firsthand how he was chasing validation, pride, and acceptance. While his ego was bruised, his spiritual connection began to deepen and grow. He realized that it's ok not to be ok. How powerful is that, my friend? If you are struggling right now, know that it's ok not to feel ok and that getting support can be the most loving thing you can do for yourself.    How To Leave a Legacy  One of the gifts of Soul's greater healing and awakening starting in 2018 is that it gave him the momentum and habits of self-care and self-realization that he continued to tap into and share during the pandemic. He began to find his voice and was able to make a greater impact and bring diversity to those bringing mindfulness, meditation, and healing to the world. Since his accident, Soul has been nurturing his own connection to himself as well as his faith and spirituality, and that of many others. He's been using his gifts and expertise in breathwork, sound healing, yoga, and coaching to help other individuals, especially in the African American community, come home to themselves.        Looking To Help Others Know Who They Are and Design Their Best Life?   If you are feeling a strong urge to help other big-hearted empaths get unstuck and design their best life, you've got to check out my Life Designer Coach Academy.
