While most of the world has forgotten, today is known as Maundy Thursday to many Christians. It is the day we remember that Jesus gathered with his disciples, shared the first communion, prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, and was betrayed and handed over to the Roman Soldiers to ultimately be put to death. Jesus prepared for his journey to the cross by praying. We too should be practical in our preparations, but also very prayerful. On today's program, guest host Jim Calhoun and Bob Biermann share their thoughts. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/bob-biermann/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bob-biermann/support

If you want to sit in on a class presentation on the research related to bisexuality please listen to this podcast! Vanessa is a MicroMasters student (part of the Centre for Applied Neuroscience MicroDegree in Psychological Neuroscience) supervised by me, Mandy Wintink. This week’s seminar class was on Sex and Gender and Vanessa’s topic was “Bisexuality” and she presents on the topic according to the guiding questions that provoked the research (see below). The other voices you can hear are that of the other MicroDegree students.Vanessa chose to do bisexuality because it is often considered a hidden sexuality because those who are bisexual are often seen as heterosexual if they are in a monogamous opposite-sex relationship or gay if they are in a same-sex relationship, neither of which can feel complete for someone who is bisexual. Through her research, Vanessa discovered that bisexual erasure is prevalent and so is bisexuality as well. In fact, some statistics show that bisexuality is the majority of the LGTB2QS community.Word of wise: You may want to slow this episode down to .75 speed because Vanessa and her brain present very fast…Resources:Kinsey ScaleRosa Diaz’s Comes Out on Brooklyn Nine-Nine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDGkCeElzhMGuiding Questions for the MicroDegree Topic of Sex & Gender:Choose a topic within the realm of sex, gender, or any sex-linked behaviour and learn about some aspect of neuroscience related to it. Prefaced with brief elusion to the third of those four thoughts that turn the mind about - focusing on the reality of suffering. Why do we have to suffer at all? This deepest dimension of suffering - it arises directly because of or pertains to our relationship with our bodies and minds. The aggregates (our bodies and minds), arose in relation to mental afflictions (klesha) and karma. We are closely holding onto, or identifying with, our bodies and minds which are defiled in the sense of being created by karma and klesha. That very identification with that which is not 'I' or 'mine', as being 'I' or 'mine'. Alan then goes on to give examples. Meditation starts at: 16:08
