Er ging praktisch "all in". Chief Meteorologist Rich Wirdzek is back this week with Meteorologist Erich Ahlf as they count down the final days of summer, recapping the recent trend of comfortable weather and looking ahead to the potential development of a coastal storm to usher in the Fall season. With the recent brush from Hurricane Lee there was plenty of misinformation about the storm that circulated online for weeks. Rich and Erich explain the best ways to filter through the noise to find the experts when trying to get information about extreme weather and climate events.

Maria Josenhans is a landscape artist working both outdoors and in her studio. An artist for nearly four decades, Maria's work plays back and forth between representational and abstract as she allows each painting to find its own unique path. Maria was born in New Jersey, one of two daughters to parents James and Janet. Her mother was a librarian, and her father an engineer and keen photographer. Maria had an early introduction to the art of photography in her father's dark room and developed an interest that shaped the early part of her career. As a child her mother introduced her to Scottish Highland dancing, which still today is a passion that she shares through teaching and adjudicating. Her talent for painting was discovered in High School where her teacher Mrs Erich would prove influential in guiding Maria into a career as an artist. From 1982-86 she studied at the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts), in Philadelphia, PA and graduated with a BFA in Illustration with Honors. In 1994, Maria studied Large Format Black & White Photography with Paul Caponigro. Her early career in photography and illustration was spent in New York before she moved to New England. Once she met her Canadian husband her path changed course and she turned exclusively to painting. In 2000, they moved to the west coast of Canada where Maria has enjoyed a climate that allows for year round plein air painting. She has always been a nature lover, and she is also a student of Zen Buddism. Maria currently lives in Burnaby near Vancouver with her husband Marcel and new dog Basil. It's time for the final installment of this year's in-person interviews I conducted at the legendary Newport Folk Festival which took place in Newport, Rhode Island, July 28-30. First up, my friends Jeff Gorman and Jake Cochran of Illiterate Light stopped by to chat with me about the Bike Stage that they hosted, curated and operated. Jeff and Jake -- a hard-core rocking two-piece by day -- have created a sustainable and entirely off-the-grid solution to set a shining example of how we can mitigate the environmental impact of the live music ecosystem. This is the embodiment of Think Globally, Act Locally!!Next up, I spoke to Jake Ewald of Slaughter Beach, Dog, a Newport Folk first-timer whose alt-folk brand of artistry was a perfect fit for the Harbor Stage audience. I talk to Jake about his powerful songwriting and how very unexpected it was for him to even be at Newport Folk. We share tons of laughs as Jake's comedic timing is spot-on. Slaughter Beach, Dog's new album Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling will be out September 22.I also had the pleasure of sitting down with Erich Huffaker and Mariam Diakite of Orchestra Gold, a band with roots both in Oakland, CA as well as Mali, West Africa. I talk with Erich and Mariam about the African Psychedelic Rock movement and how African Dance is integrated into the ethos of this band, whose mission is to "spread healing and community through the universal gift of music." Amen. And to close down the 2023 Folk Fest series, I had a gem of a convo with Newport natives Evan St. Martin and Dave Sarazen of Laden Valley. The first act to hit the stage this year, it was a surreal experience for sure, and they both related to me just how incredibly special it was for them, after years of attending the festival as fans, to actually be up there performing one of their rare live shows. This was an example of the pure joy of live performance for both fans and the artists themselves. It has truly been an honor to bring all these amazing artists to the Roadcase audience. Newport is a truly special experience for artists and fans alike, and I'm glad I can bring some of that excitement and musical joy to all of you. See you all at Newport 2024, and in the meantime, Rock On!!

Many highly skilled SEOs and digital marketers use their expertise to build high-performing websites and other online assets. Others recognize that their skill itself is an asset that they can leverage. So they create an agency, hiring out their SEO and PPC expertise to businesses in need. But building an agency is no walk in the park. How do you rise above the noise and claim your spot in this highly competitive arena? In this episode, we sit down with two entrepreneurs who've walked the talk—David Kauzlaric and Erich Schaefer, the minds behind Agency Elevation. This full-service, white-label agency offers a suite of digital solutions, including SEO, PPC, Facebook Ads, and TikTok Ads. Join us as they pull back the curtain on their journey to agency success.Diving into their strategy, David and Erich unveil the blueprint of Agency Elevation's triumph. One standout element? Transparent pricing. While many agencies play the hidden-cost game, David and Erich defy the norm by showcasing their pricing upfront, fostering trust and transparency. With a 100% US-based team, Agency Elevation eliminates the hurdles of time zones and communication, ensuring swift turnarounds and effective collaboration. They also walk us through the common characteristics that successful agencies share. The most important ingredient of success? Focusing on a specific niche. According to David and Erich, “Niche-focused agencies are the easiest to scale because you can get instant credibility with just good branding. All you need is a good offer, good branding, and experience or results in that industry. We see guys going from zero to multiple seven figures in three or four years because they're niche focused.“ So, whether you're a budding entrepreneur with dreams of agency ownership or a seasoned player aiming to amplify your agency's performance, this episode holds the key. Der Klimawandel ist kein Zukunftsszenario mehr. Er ist Realität. So heisst es im 6. Weltklimabericht. Was bedeuten diese weltweiten Rekorde?
Far too often, you and I consider what we feel about God, to be true about God. For example- if he feels distant and far off, then he is, if we feel like he is angry with us, then he must be a judgmental, wrath-filled God. If we can't feel him moving, well then he must have no interest in us at all. But here is the truth, He is far greater than any of our minds could comprehend and more than we could ever imagine. This week, Erich talks about God who is our refuge, check it out.
Grüße gehen raus an Erich! OFFICIAL DISCLOSURE is back in the news as a “whistleblower” has come forward with claims of alien spacecraft recovered by the US military. We've heard this before. Actual proof is non-existent, and, as with every major UFO/UAP “disclosure” since Roswell in 1947, the military-intelligence complex has fingerprints all over it. So, to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the Roswell incident, we bring you a presentation based on the 2017 book Josh Peck and I co-authored, The Day the Earth Stands Still. This was a talk I gave last fall at the Church of Glad Tidings in Live Oak, California. The bottom line is this: The modern belief in “ancient aliens” can be traced from Zecharia Sitchin and Erich Von Däniken back to the occult teachings of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and Aleister Crowley—by way of the horror fiction of H. P. Lovecraft. In our book, and in this talk, we connect the dots from Crowley to Cthulhu to Chaos.

For many of us, Summer is the season of climbing roadtrips. Whether you're venturing across North America, Europe, or Asia, visiting new climbing areas is a wonderful skill- and experience-building endeavor...and it will likely enrich your life and expand your brain in a number of other ways as well. In terms of climbing performance, however, one of the most challenging matters while on a roadtrip is managing fatigue. Specifically, you will awake each day and be faced with the decision of whether you should climb...or take a rest day. In this T4C episode, I'll detail the primary factors you should consider in determining how often you should take a rest day from climbing. The optimal climbing-to-rest-day ratio can differ greatly depending on your climbing goals, training history, age, and recovery ability, among other things. How God uses affliction in our lives to shape our leadership abilities.
On this Live Show Beg-a-Thon, recorded on May 17, we discuss the pop culture phenomenon and appeal of pseudoarchaeology in its many forms, from fraudulent alternative history books like Erich von Däniken's 1968 book, Chariots of the Gods? Unsolved Mysteries of the Past, to television series like "Ancient Aliens" and "Ancient Apocalypse." Alongside guest Dr. David S. Anderson, we discuss how phony "what if?" theories often go beyond the goofy, guilty pleasure premises of extraterrestrial visitors and lost civilizations to promote Eurocentric, racist pap and a mindless distrust of "the scientific establishment" in the stupidest and least productive way possible.
This is the story of the first real battles of the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) in World War I. Carrying out his third operation of the German Spring Offensive, General Erich Ludendorff is hoping to distract the French before delivering a KO punch to the Brits farther north in Flanders. But this offensive is going far too well to let up. German troops are advancing rapidly down here. This mere diversion has taken them to Château-Thierry on the banks of the Marne River! Erich can't help but think that, with Paris a mere 50 miles away, maybe this is the course to press. The Brits are spent. The French are spent. The Italians are spent. The Americans are growing in number but still wildly untrained. Can these smooth-faced American youth, so unfamiliar with war, really make the difference in stopping the German war machine's forward advance? Can they take Cantigny? Will they hold at Château-Thierry? Will the US Marines continue the fight, even as they see an unprecedented loss of lives in a small cluster of trees known as Belleau Wood? We'll find out. ___ 4 Ways to dive deeper into History That Doesn't Suck Join our growing facebook community Get our weekly newsletter, The Revolution Become part of the HTDS Patreon family Subscribe to Greg's monthly newsletter, Connected History Learn more about your ad choices.
