This week, for the first time ever, Dan is featuring two guests on the show. Regular Investor Hour listeners should instantly recognize their names... Dr. David "Doc" Eifrig and Thomas Carroll.  Doc is an MBA, former Wall Street trader, published author, and medical doctor. (Plus, he even owns a winery.) In the Stansberry Research universe, he's the editor of Retirement Millionaire, Retirement Trader, Income Intelligence, Advanced Options, and the Health & Wealth Bulletin.  Tom was once named by Fortune magazine as the No. 1 health care analyst in the U.S. His research has been referenced by health care publications and institutional investors alike, along with CNBC, Bloomberg, and Fox Business. And Stansberry readers know him for his investment expertise in the emerging legal cannabis market. In today's interview, Tom says health care is the most promising and important economic sector of the market right now... Some people think it's a boring sector to invest in, but I think it's paramount for every investor – for anyone who takes a self-directed or a primary interest in how they're investing their money. They have to know and have some exposure to health care. It's a $4 trillion market that's only getting bigger. It goes up each and every year.  That's why he and Doc recently joined forces with John Engel – a former biochemist and one of Stansberry's resident biotechnology experts – to launch a new research product, Prosperity Investor. In this monthly advisory, the powerhouse team shares the best of the current industry stalwarts, next-generation medicine, emerging digital-health solutions, and much more. On the show, Doc and Tom also share some of the biggest trends in the space. You'll hear about advancements in telemedicine, breakthrough research in immunology, and navigating the complexities in managed care. Lastly, you won't want to miss the duo's final bit of advice for listeners... a nugget that Dan – once he removed his jaw from the floor – called "one of the best, most actionable answers ever given in the history of the show."

In episode 143 we welcome Dr. David Eifrig. David begins by going through his background and pathway to finance. He first discovered his interest in investing through the occasional Barron’s issue, and understood he didn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps in medicine, moving on to Kellogg for business school before moving on to Wall Street. He describes that while working in finance, he decided to pursue science and medical school and ultimately helped build a business that was sold to Roche. While in residency, he began writing and that launched him into newsletter writing. Meb then asks David to describe his publications, Retirement Millionaire, Retirement Trader, Income Intelligence, and the newly launched Advanced Options. Meb asks David about how he thinks about value and price declines. David responds with some background on how he prefers to teach investing, and provides a simple framework for thinking about price and value. After a quick discussion of the closed-end fund space, the conversation shifts to what looks interesting right now. David discusses Altria, and their exposure to the vaping market and the marijuana industry as well as preferred shares. The pair then expands with a discussion about the current interest rate and inflationary environment after an interesting example from David. David also gets into the use of stop losses, having a plan, and the mindset of having an idea of when to sell. He mentions that he thinks about structuring portfolio positions such that losses on one single position won’t significantly impact the overall portfolio. The conversation then shifts gears into some lifestyle suggestions, David’s experience as a winemaker, and David’s best and worst trades. All this and more in episode 143.

In the wake of Tuesday’s market carnage, with almost all of the major indices losing 3% of their value, Dan sees a rough slog ahead for almost all U.S. stocks. By any reasonable metric, stocks are a bad deal – but a few diamonds exist in the rough. Of course, there are not just bad deals to be found, but also outright land mines for investors, as is the case with GE, whose rotten pension dilemma Dan breaks down this week for listeners. Later on, Dan and Buck are joined by Dr. David (Doc) Eifrig and Stansberry Senior Analyst Matt Weinschenk. Doc has a storied past working for years trading derivatives at Goldman Sachs before leaving Wall Street to become an eye doctor before finally joining Stansberry in 2008. Matt has spent over a decade as an investment analyst and six of those have been here with Doc. Doc’s Retirement Trader options trading service has achieved a 95% success rate since its debut in 2010, a time spanning hundreds of investment recommendations made in all sorts of market conditions. But now, he says it’s time to think even bigger. In unleashing his newest, upgraded options trading service, Advanced Options, Doc, Matt, and the rest of their team are unveiling a service that’s designed to magnify the upside of some of Stansberry Research’s biggest wins, while helping to cut risk to the bone. We think you’ll want to keep an eye out for Doc’s special offer made at the end – which includes two years of Advanced Options, one year of Retirement Millionaire, and one full year of True Wealth and Stansberry’s Investment Advisory.  For more on Dr Eifrigs options course go to:  www.investorhouroptions.com
