Jon Herold wraps up the week with sharp analysis and a touch of humor, starting with gold's historic surge as foreign banks now hold more gold than U.S. Treasuries for the first time since 1996. He unpacks Trump's latest executive actions, including making federal architecture “beautiful again,” exempting national security agencies from collective bargaining, and cutting off federal grants for lobbying. The big headline is Trump's use of a rare “pocket rescission” to cancel nearly $5 billion in foreign aid, a move that hasn't been attempted since 1977. Herold also covers Trump canceling Kamala Harris's Secret Service protection, deporting Guatemalan children, and canceling offshore wind subsidies. RFK Jr.'s investigation into SSRIs and hormone treatments in connection with transgender school shooters sparks further debate, while chatter about JD Vance as Trump's successor draws skepticism. Packed with cultural asides, community updates, and even a Soft Disclosure shout-out, this episode blends heavy policy with Badlands banter.
CannCon and Chris Paul kick off the Friday show with laughs over fantasy football before diving into breaking news. They unpack Trump's firing of CDC Director Susan Meneris, the mass resignations that followed, and RFK Jr.'s launch of the “Vaccine Integrity Project,” questioning its real purpose. The hosts expose how the media spins school shootings into trauma ops, connecting SSRIs, transgender ideology, and intelligence manipulation to a wider agenda. They then shift to geopolitics and economics, covering Trump's clever play on Chinese student visas, Nvidia's deal to pay the U.S. government for China chip sales, and how America is decoupling from globalist dependencies. From Kamala Harris' fundraising flop and lost Secret Service detail, to Exxon's quiet talks with Russia and AI-driven cybercrime, the episode delivers sharp analysis, skepticism, and humor all the way to the close.

Send us a textSPECIAL NOTE: SEASON 15 OF THE GOOD, THE POD AND THE UGLY CELEBRATES THE USE OF THE PRACTICAL AND DIGITAL EFFECT KNOWN AS THE SQUIB. IRL GUN VIOLENCE IS INTOLERABLE AND RENOUNCED BUT... CINEMATIC VIOLENCE WILL BE CELEBRATED IN A WAY WHICH WILL DISTURB SOME LISTENERS. TGTPTU returns to its regularly scheduled Squib Games (S15) with the earlier of its latest temporal pincer movement pairing, TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA (1985). Directed by William Friedkin, this is another Big Willie movie but not a Wyler: the second William has the credited surname of Peterson and this is his first film. William Peterson was so new to film acting that he called his fellow Chicagoan thespian buddy John Malkovich to see what he should quote as his asking price to play the lead character of Richard Chance, a thrill-seeking Secret Service agent who'll lose his partner only days from retirement (red-shirted partner's, not Chance's) and will get a new partner in John Pankow's Agent John Vukovich to pervert in his (Chance's) vengeful pursuit of a counterfeiter played by Willem Dafoe. (Next year Peterson would play another officer of the law in Manhunter as covered during TGTPTU's Mann Aged Season {S5,E5}; as an EPISODE CORRECTION Pankow did not portray Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Miloš Forman's film Amadeus but had done so at the Broadhurst Theatre, replacing Tim Curry.) Because it's a Friedkin flick, there's an epic car chase meant to top The French Connection; because it's shot from a Friedkin script (adapted from a novel by former Secret Service agent Gerald Petievich, who receives a cowriting credit), there was a lot of improvisation on set driven by the actors, with both the ending and opening scenes re/written during shooting. Mentioning actors, the film is stacked with supporting roles by Dean Stockwell, John Turturro (who'll get more mention later in Season 15), and the Michael Mann-created film noir for television Crime Story's very own Darlanne Fluegel (listen back to S5,E6 for insights on this TV series). TGTPTU hosts become split on the merits of the film. Thomas describes the movie as The Friends of Eddie Coyle (1973) on neon cocaine, but—no spoilers—you'll have to listen to the ep for whether he believes this is a good thing. Also, Jack lets out the three-legged dog and Ryan, while finding it impossible to resist singing the title, has issue with William Pederson. Ken convinces everyone to Wang Chung tonight. There was so much to unpack with Wes about his incredible career in law enforcement and his accomplishments off duty that this is my first three-part interview. Thanks for sticking around until the end! Honestly, I could have talked to Wes all day. I will definitely have him back on the show in the future. Here's a quick bio of just some of Wes’s accomplishments. Wes became a Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputy in 1988. As a deputy, Wes served as a S.W.A.T. lead, having completed the FBI S.W.A.T. school in 1995. Wes was a Defensive Tactics Instructor, anti-crime and property Detective, and earned the Florida Medal of Valor in 1996 for his heroism by disregarding his own safety, running into an apartment fire, saving multiple lives, and Mittens the cat. In 1998, he was hired by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Wes had a 23-year career with the DEA and has been stationed in Field Divisions such as: St. Louis, Miami, Chicago, D.C., Los Angeles, and internationally in cities such as Guatemala City, Guatemala, Caracas, Venezuela, Cartagena, Colombia, and Bogota, Colombia. During this time, he was representing the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in positions such as: supervisory special agent, country attaché, assistant country attaché, Deputy Section Chief, Assistant to the Global Deputy Chief of Operations, and Assistant Special Agent in Charge. Wes was paralyzed in an auto accident where a drunk driver and career criminal had been at fault. Fortunately, he recovered from his spinal cord injury (C5/6) fracture and went back to being a DEA agent. The suspect later absconded and was on the run for 23 years only to be captured in 2024. He was given probation for 6 months by a local judge in Minnesota. From 2012 to 2015, Wes was assigned to the Central Intelligence Agency as an Assignee to various locations in the Western Hemisphere, conducting various classified activities on behalf of the DEA while embedded with the CIA. He has worked with some of the most prestigious law enforcement and military agencies, conducting operations and training modules, with the FBI, Secret Service, Defense Intelligence Service, US Army Special Forces, and Navy Seals. As a DEA agent, rising through the ranks to Assistant Special Agent in Charge in Los Angeles, he was the division's Strike Force Commander, where he oversaw global money-laundering investigations, High Value Mexican Cartel Investigation, and led his teams in pursuit of some of the largest cases on the globe. Thanks again for sticking around for the conclusion of this amazing interview. I think we covered a lot of ground and went places that I didn’t foresee. But that’s the fun of running a podcast. Please enjoy the conclusion of my interview with Wes Tabor. In today’s episode, we discuss: · What was the motivation for informants working with the DEA in Venezuela? · Hezbollah and Hamas in Venezuela? · The TDA gang that started in Venezuela and them spreading. This gang and others are spreading into the United States, and the influence they have and how they gain traction in America. · What are the most dangerous gangs we should be the most aware of, and what can be done to stop them? · The U.S./Mexican border has been a hot button for a while now and is in the news all the time. What are his thoughts, and how easy has it been and is it for these gangs to come into our country illegally? · Gangs communicating and recruiting through encrypted social media. · International gangs using cryptocurrencies. · I don’t think the average American understands these gangs and what they are capable of. I think about the murder rates you had in your book in Jamaica and Central America, 2000-2017: 2.5 million murders, 2/3 of the world’s murders. Should we be worried that this will spill over into our country? · In Milwaukee, we had the Latin (Spanish Cobras, Latin Kings, Brown Pride, Mexican Posse, and La Familia) and Black gangs (Gangster Disciples, Black Gangster Disciples, Kia Boys, and Vice Lords). The Latin gangs were much more organized, and the OGs didn’t give up much to the cops. They were busted with RICO cases, but all that did was bring in the black gangs where there was a void. It feels like a war that never ends. What can be done to stop it? · His book, Infiltrate America - Blood Routes and the Rise of Latin American Gangs. Why write it? · How painful was it for him to write this book? From personal experience, I know this can put PTSD into overdrive, reliving some ugly stuff. · Post-retirement from the DEA. What does he miss the most/least from LE? All of this and more on today’s episode of the Cops and Writers podcast. In today’s episode, we discuss: · Wes’s path to the DEA. · His first three years as a DEA agent were a blur, working day and night. The horrible things people would do while on methamphetamine. · Making big cases out of little cases. · Being struck by a drunk driver, breaking his neck, and being paralyzed. On today’s episode of the Cops and Writers Podcast, I have with me Author and Retired DEA Agent Wes Tabor. There was so much to unpack about his incredible career in law enforcement and his accomplishments off duty that this is my first three-part interview. Part two of the interview that will go live next Sunday, and part three with be released the next day on Monday. The suspect later absconded and was on the run for 23 years, only to be captured in 2024. He was given probation for 6 months by a local judge in Minnesota. From 2012-2015, Wes was assigned to the Central Intelligence Agency as an Assignee to various locations in the Western Hemisphere, conducting various classified activities on behalf of the DEA while embedded with the CIA. I told you there’s a lot to Wes’s story! Today’s episode is more focused on his beginnings and his heroism. We will get to more incredible stuff in the next two episodes. In today’s episode, we discuss: · Thank you to Chris Feistl for the intro. · An unlikely role model growing up. · The positive influence of the police explorer program on him as a youth. · His time in Florida as a Sheriff’s Deputy, working in SWAT, the detective bureau, and as a D.A.A.T. instructor. · Running into a fire and saving multiple people, and Mittens the cat. · Receiving the Florida Medal of Valor for his heroic actions. · Social media and law enforcement today. · What he sees as the weaknesses or strengths in law enforcement training today. All of this and more on today’s episode of the Cops and Writers podcast. Today's Headlines: We're ending the week on a truly chaotic note. Texas Senator John Cornyn got the FBI involved to help track down state Democrats who fled to avoid a rushed redistricting vote—one that would give Republicans five extra seats, just because Trump said they should have them. Trump's also pushing for early redistricting in other red states and floated a new census that would exclude undocumented immigrants—never mind what the Constitution says. In other news, he signed an order demanding colleges hand over race-based admissions data, and the Air Force is cutting off early retirement benefits for transgender service members. Additionally, Trump now wants your 401(k) to dabble in crypto and real estate, and he's nominating an aide to the Fed who's big on lowering interest rates. Finally, Apple CEO Tim Cook gave Trump a weird gold iPhone trophy, VP JD Vance's river was allegedly raised for his birthday kayak trip, Israel confirmed it plans to take full control of Gaza, and Eli Lilly released promising results from a study of its new weight loss pill. Special guest Shipwreck joins for a powerful segment dissecting media spin, election narrative shifts, and the psychological operations used to shape public perception. The show also covers the recent assassination attempt on Trump, rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait, and questions surrounding swing-state election integrity. From Google's AI-based censorship tools to the climate change agenda, CannCon, and Alpha connect the dots on how propaganda and fear are deployed to maintain control. //The Wire//2000Z August 6, 2025////ROUTINE////BLUF: MASS SHOOTING REPORTED AT FORT STEWART IN GEORGIA. WHITE HOUSE PROPOSES PLAN TO FEDERALIZE ADMINISTRATION OF WASHINGTON D.C. FOLLOWING VIOLENT ATTACK ON DOGE DEPARTMENT STAFFER.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE----- -International Events-Western Asia: India has responded to the latest tariff escalations by the White House, largely in the form of resistance to the re-negotiation of trade policy. The Ministry of External Affairs called the tariffs unfair, and has indicated that they will be fighting the implementation of these taxes in some form.Analyst Comment: India is not a particularly major trade partner with the United States, but is at the center of the immigration issue. However, this spat is probably not related to the H1B visa scandal, but is probably related to relations with Russia, which remain a persistent concern when it comes to BRICS nations becoming more economically dependent on each other.-HomeFront-Georgia: A mass shooting was reported on base at Fort Stewart this morning. 5x casualties were wounded by a gunman at headquarters of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team (BCT). Base personnel apprehended the shooter at the scene, and local media has identified the shooter as Quornelius Radford (an Army Sergeant), though this has not yet been confirmed through official channels. The status of the five casualties (how many fatalities vs wounded) is also not yet known, though some of the victims are being treated at a local hospital.Washington D.C. - An incident involving a senior DOGE staff member took place Tuesday evening. Edward Coristine, one of the key software engineers involved at the DOGE department, was assaulted by a group of black males after he attempted to intervene to stop a carjacking of a young woman. Coristine was beaten severely during the encounter, and only two of the attackers have been arrested so far, with the rest evading capture. The woman (who has not been identified) appears to have survived the encounter. Following this brutal attack, President Trump has vowed to federalize the city of Washington D.C. and begin the crackdown on crime.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: This has been theorized for a long time, and may now actually happen. Federalizing Washington would place the city's administration under the control of the US government, and it's not entirely clear how this might work out in practice. The most immediate impact this would have would probably be the mass firing of leadership of the dozens of law enforcement agencies that have overlapping jurisdictions throughout this special administrative region.Washington D.C. is infamous for street crime running rampant just a few streets over from the White House. There have been multiple instances of Secret Service agents experiencing attempted carjackings of official government vehicles (which came to light over the past year), and violent muggings, murders, and carjackings continue to be a regular observance throughout the Capitol region.Analyst: S2A1Research: https://publish.obsidian.md/s2underground//END REPORT//

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”A dark web of money, power, and government complicity surrounds the Jeffrey Epstein case – arguably the largest child sex trafficking operation ever uncovered. Crime investigator Tom Hampson takes us beyond the headlines to expose how this predator operated with impunity for decades.Epstein's journey from financial mastermind to sex trafficker reveals a troubling pattern. Initially valued for his ability to create shell corporations for arms dealers and billionaires, Epstein leveraged these connections to build an operation that processed $1.5 billion in transactions related to human trafficking – with major banks blocking suspicious activity reports from government review. The podcast explores disturbing historical precedents like the CIA's "Operation Midnight Climax," where intelligence agencies hired prostitutes to drug and film unwitting men in sexual encounters. This context helps explain how government agencies became entangled with Epstein's network, with former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino stating after his investigation: "I'll never be the same after learning what I've learned."Read Part 2: The Troubling Case of Jeffrey EpsteinFollow us and watch on X: John Paul II Renewal @JP2RenewalSubscribe to our Newly Resurrected YouTube Channel!Read Jack's Latest Blog: "The Tale We've Fallen Into"Support the show

If the new documents reveal prior awareness that foreign actors would anticipate FBI involvement, it strengthens arguments that the Russia collusion narrative was at least partially orchestrated.
