Make sure to download our free guide, 7 Questions Every Passive Investor Should Ask, here. Key Takeaways Great deals and abundant capital rarely align—it's always a pendulum A conservative deal today may have felt aggressive just 24 months ago True GP-LP alignment is nuanced and difficult to achieve—acquisition fees often skew incentives Passive investors should study sponsors' fee structures, co-investments, and transparency The best investor relations approach isn't sales—it's expectation management Topics Falling in Love with Real Estate Early Evan's fascination with real estate began as a child watching shopping centers being built in Atlanta Studied finance and real estate at the University of Cincinnati, and started in retail REIT investor relations Has worked across roles in capital raising, investing, and ownership The Market's Capital-Deal Imbalance Capital and deal quality are rarely in sync—one is always scarce 2021–2022 saw capital flood the market, but often into weak deals Today feels like 2009 again, with conservative investors and fewer phone calls returned Lessons from the Downturn Floating-rate loans and short-term debt—not real estate quality—are behind many failed deals Evan cautions that "safe" real estate only stays safe with proper structure and conservative assumptions Overly optimistic IRRs, misaligned capital stacks, and loose underwriting have been exposed On Alignment and Fees Evan focuses on age and experience as critical factors when evaluating GPs Acquisition fees deserve close scrutiny—especially when they exceed co-investment amounts Sponsors who transact just to earn fees raise red flags around long-term alignment Managing Investor Expectations Great IR is about setting, managing, and exceeding expectations LPs who receive clear, accurate communication—regardless of performance—stay engaged longer Sales-driven approaches often lead to mismatches in trust and long-term relationships Navigating Growth and Team Building Scaling a syndication business brings team demands—growth isn't always about ego Even small increases in payroll or promotions require deal flow and capital Balance between investor returns and internal sustainability is delicate and evolving Track Record and Debt Structure IRR isn't enough—investors should ask how much of a return came from NOI growth vs. cap rate compression Evan favors sponsors who have survived downturns and learned from risk exposure Floating debt creates the illusion of strong deals—fixed-rate debt demonstrates stability

In this compelling sermon, Pastor Karl dives into Matthew Chapters 3 and part of 4, introducing John the Baptist and the launch of Jesus' public ministry. He explores the radical call to repentance as forward-facing surrender, the humble wilderness ministry of John—clothed in camel hair and heralding the coming Messiah—and the dramatic baptism where heaven breaks open with the Trinity on full display. Pastor Karl then examines Jesus' temptation in the wilderness, revealing how Satan attacks God's provision, protection, and promises, and how Jesus defeats every lie with Scripture alone. He emphasizes that repentance is not a one-time event but a lifestyle that prepares the way for the kingdom, that true faith bears fruit, and that heaven meets obedience with strength. Join us for a powerful message that calls every believer to repent, resist the devil, and trust God's Word in every trial.

At BNIC#2 in Hermanus, Brenthurst Wealth founder Magnus Heystek rejected the “Dr Doom” label, describing himself as “realistically honest” about South Africa's economic trajectory. He warned that trillions have been wiped out through municipal collapse in the country's northern regions, even as the Western Cape attracts wealth through governance and lifestyle appeal. Heystek argued that only a radical policy reset — restoring property rights and pro-business confidence — could bring offshore wealth back. On investment strategy, he pointed to agriculture, tourism, Cape property, gold, and Japan as promising areas, while stressing the importance of knowledge, long-term discipline, and not succumbing to market doomsayers.

In “AI Literacy in Logistics with Gather AI's Andrew Hoffman”, Joe Lynch and Andrew Hoffman, CTO at Gather AI, discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming warehouse operations by using visual data from drones and other machines to identify issues, suggest next steps, and ultimately improve efficiency and accuracy. About Andrew Hoffman Andrew Hoffman is the Chief Technical Officer at Gather.ai, an AI-powered intralogistics optimization firm that empowers 3PLs, manufacturers, and retailers to improve margins and on-time order fulfillment in the widest range of logistics environments - from ambient to cold chain storage. Andrew has technical and leadership experience scaling supply chain-focused robotics companies from founding to exit, with over 20 patents in logistics, robotics, and robot coordination. He was a founding engineer at two supply chain robotics companies which were later acquired by Amazon – Kiva Systems (now Amazon Robotics) and CANVAS Technology. Most recently, he served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at tech-focused venture capital firm, Xplorer Capital, a Gather AI investor. About Gather AI Gather AI is an intralogistics AI company which collects visual data from drones, forklifts, and connected machines, integrates it with warehouse management systems (WMS) and cloud platforms, and uses AI to identify issues and suggest next steps. Key Takeaways: AI Literacy in Logistics In “AI Literacy in Logistics with Gather AI's Andrew Hoffman”, Joe Lynch and Andrew Hoffman, CTO at Gather AI, discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming warehouse operations by using visual data from drones and other machines to identify issues, suggest next steps, and ultimately improve efficiency and accuracy. AI as a Co-Pilot, Not a Replacement: The podcast reframes artificial intelligence as a collaborative tool that amplifies human capability. Much like a calculator assists a mathematician, AI acts as a "co-pilot" in the warehouse, providing real-time data and insights that enable staff to work more efficiently and accurately. Demystifying Core Concepts: The discussion breaks down key industry terms, clarifying the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) (the broad field of intelligent machines) and machine learning (ML) (the specific technique of systems learning from data). It also defines computer vision as the ability of a machine to "see" and interpret a warehouse environment. Proven ROI and Real-World Results: The episode highlights a concrete case study with Stadium Goods, a customer of Gather AI. By using the company's solution, they increased inventory accuracy to over 99%, reduced "inventory shrink" from 2% to a fraction of a percent, and saved over $200,000 by eliminating manual counting. Actionable Insights from Data: The conversation explains that AI systems learn from data over time, allowing them to transform complex data queries into natural language questions. This helps warehouse staff make better decisions on the fly, such as locating a specific pallet or finding an empty space in an aisle. The Collaborative "Agent": The concept of an "agent" in AI is reframed from a technical term to a collaborative entity. Gather AI's system—the drone, software, and computer vision—works as a partner to the warehouse staff, providing the data needed for faster, more accurate decisions and freeing up employees for more valuable tasks. A Leader with a Track Record of Innovation: Andrew Hoffman's background as a founding engineer at two logistics robotics companies, both later acquired by Amazon, establishes his deep expertise. His journey offers valuable insight into the past and future of scaling technology in the supply chain industry. A Clear Path to Getting Started with AI: For listeners looking to begin their AI journey, the podcast recommends starting with a pilot project to solve one specific problem, such as cycle counting. It also advises seeking partners who offer a comprehensive solution and a clear path to return on investment, rather than just a technology. On this episode of On the Brink with Andi Simon, I sat down with Delia Passi, a three-time exited entrepreneur, women's health advocate, and the founder and CEO of MyCabinet — a groundbreaking virtual medicine cabinet that's changing how families and caregivers manage medications. Delia's story isn't just about building a successful business. It's about transforming a deeply personal, life-threatening moment into a purpose-driven company that blends healthcare innovation with impact entrepreneurship. The Crisis That Sparked a Movement Delia's journey into healthcare technology began when her elderly mother suffered a massive heart attack while Delia was 200 miles away. In the chaos of the moment, doctors urgently needed her mother's medical history — current medications, allergies, and past adverse reactions — but Delia didn't have the information. The result was sheer terror and helplessness. “I thought I was going to kill my mother,” she recalls. That moment became a catalyst for change. Delia made a promise to God: if her mother survived, she would dedicate herself to ensuring no one else endured such a situation again. That promise became MyCabinet, a smart, virtual medicine cabinet designed to securely store, organize, and share critical medication information instantly with caregivers, healthcare providers, and family members. A Track Record of Impact Before founding MyCabinet, Delia had already made waves as the publisher of Working Mother magazine, where she championed family-friendly workplace policies and launched the “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers” list. After battling breast cancer herself, she founded WomenCertified, Inc., home of the Women's Choice Award, which helps women make informed healthcare decisions and sets rigorous standards for hospitals and providers. While proud of that work, Delia says she didn't initially view it as “purpose-driven” — it was doing good, yes, but not with the intentional integration of purpose into every business decision. MyCabinet, however, was different from the start. Building a Purpose-Driven Company Determined to align her entrepreneurial skills with a deeper mission, Delia joined Amplify, a nine-month program from the National Christian Foundation that taught her how to embed purpose into every aspect of a company. She now applies that framework to MyCabinet through four pillars: Employees – Hosting quarterly retreats with space for reflection, gratitude, and shared values, fostering a culture where faith and respect thrive across religious backgrounds. Investors – Choosing only impact investors who put people before profit and share the company's mission. Clients – Taking a holistic approach to helping healthcare partners and institutions improve patient lives, not just offering a product. Customers – Delivering peace of mind for caregivers and patients by preventing dangerous medication errors and improving health outcomes. Blue Ocean Thinking: Creating a New Market As I often share with my clients, Blue Ocean Strategy is about creating a market space where none existed before — and MyCabinet is a perfect example. There was no “smart medicine cabinet” category before Delia created it. Like the leap from standard TVs to smart TVs, MyCabinet transforms a familiar object into a connected, intelligent solution. Originally, Delia planned to sell direct-to-consumer (B2C), but quickly pivoted to a B2B2C model, partnering with large health plans, school systems, and other organizations that could deliver her product to hundreds of thousands of users at once. This strategic shift saved millions in marketing costs and accelerated adoption. Lessons for Entrepreneurs Delia's story offers powerful lessons for anyone building a purpose-driven business: Get out of your comfort zone. For Delia, that meant reaching out to politicians and leaders she didn't know, which opened unexpected doors in sectors like foster care, prison healthcare, and schools. Surround yourself with the right people. Seek advisors, investors, and partners who challenge you, support your vision, and keep your mission intact. Be prepared for the unseen. Women founders often face additional hurdles raising capital. Delia chose to navigate those challenges without compromising her values or taking on partners who didn't align with her mission. Focus on unmet needs, not just your product. MyCabinet succeeds because it solves a real, often hidden problem — the lack of accessible, accurate medication information in critical moments. Why This Matters In an era where healthcare technology is evolving rapidly, MyCabinet stands out as both a life-saving innovation and a model for how businesses can integrate purpose, profit, and impact. It's not just about managing medications — it's about protecting lives, reducing caregiver stress, and empowering families with information when they need it most. As Delia puts it, “You can build a unicorn and still be an active, purpose-driven organization.” Her journey proves that the bottom line and higher calling don't have to be at odds. During this message, we looked at Romans chapter 8 to see Paul's teaching on the character of God. God's past performance predicts... remarkable generosity and an unbreakable love connection. This weekend, Pastor Mark Pope guided us through these two important points as we continued our summer series When in Romans. This week be encouraged to act more like God. Full Service
Intro:Good morning! In our Proverbs "Summer of Wisdom," guest speaker Tiffany Aicklen challenges us: we trust God, but God also desires to trust us. He longs for people of integrity and honesty for partnership.Scripture References: Proverbs 3:5-6, 10:9, 19:1, 28:27, 11:3, 19:5, 24:26, 25:18, 26:28, 12:22, Matthew 23:16-22, Exodus 22:9Key Points:God's Desire to Trust Us: God longs for His people to have integrity and honesty, wanting to partner and trust us with His Kingdom.Integrity: Wholeness, Not Duplicity: "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely" (Prov 10:9). Be the same person in public/private—whole, not fractured. Lack of integrity hurts trust. Live whole.Honesty: Truth, Not Lies: "A false witness will not go unpunished" (Prov 19:5). Lies harm. "An honest answer is like a kiss" (Prov 24:26). Lord detests lies, delights in trustworthiness (Prov 12:22). Jesus, our model, was pure truth; we're called to "let your 'yes' be 'yes'."Trust as Relational Equity: Lack of integrity is a "breach of trust" (Ex 22:9)—it damages relationships. Trust is vital glue, preserving our most valuable relationship with God. Our choices matter; we desire to delight Him. Small acts of dishonesty (like the "cilantro test") reveal deeper heart issues impacting God's trust.Building Trust: Essential Elements: Understanding, Motive, Ability, Character, and Track Record. God embodies all five perfectly. He understands, is for us (even at His cost), is able, has perfect character, and a perfect track record. Conclusion:We aren't perfectly trustworthy, but God is. Press into relationship with Him, the trustworthy One. We cannot be just on our own; we trust in Jesus, who is just and justifies us.Calls to Action:Repent: Confess trust breaches with God/others—lies, hidden sins.Run to God: Don't hide. His grace frees us; His blood covers, cleanses, and restores.Communion & Prayer: Come to the table, remembering Jesus bridged the gap. If your heart is cold or you need to feel God's presence, seek prayer. Bring all into the light; Jesus' gospel sets us free! Support the show*Summaries and transcripts are generated using AI. But from the Bull Moose Party to Ross Perot, third-party efforts rarely succeed and often hand power to the Left. Will this be another spoiler moment that hurts Republicans in 2026 and 2028? Victor Davis Hanson breaks it down on today's episode of "Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words." “ It's kind of an effort to hurt Donald Trump, both in the Congress and his successor in four years. But here's the question that I have for Elon Musk, and that is, does he really believe that he can pull this off? Apparently, he does. “ I don't think in the next midterm election there's going to be American Party senators or representatives. However, they do, in some cases, affect elections. And for the most part, it's unpredictable. Nobody knows what the situation will be in 2028.
