BT & Sal bring in NFL Insider Brian Baldinger to deliver a fiery breakdown of Dexter Lawrence's shocking struggles. Baldy agrees with the harsh criticism from Giants legend Carl Banks, stating that the All-Pro defensive tackle has lost his "enormous strength" and isn't showing the dominance expected, especially after a backup center handled him with ease. Baldy questions if the issue is a lack of conditioning or explosion but firmly puts the blame on the veteran player, not the coaching. The conversation also touches on the Giants' need to accelerate Jaxson Dart's development with more receiver help, the disastrous "tush push" fumble ruling, Daniel Jones' immediate success away from the Giants with elite talent and coaching, and a look ahead at the Giants' and Jets' remaining schedules.
Kids don't need earlier tryouts—they need more backyard joy. In this conversation, former pro pitcher Dan Blewett shares how he started “late” by today's standards, fell in love with the game through free play, and built the grit to endure multiple career-threatening injuries. He argues that early structure can crowd out wonder, and that the deepest resilience is born from neighborhood games, missed catches, and a parent who shows up—often with a bucket of balls. You'll hear why sampling many sports beats specializing, how to nurture lifelong athletic identity without burnout, and what really keeps kids coming back when competition gets brutal. Dan gets practical for families: give your child “50 at-bats in the backyard,” let the umpire be wrong, focus on development over stats, and don't wait for Dad—moms can coach, catch, and lead. We explore control vs. surrender, empathy on teams, and why sports should still feel like sunshine and sprinting at age 39. If you're torn between club fees and simple play, this episode reframes youth sports around love first, training second, and memories that outlast any scoreboard. In mid-September, I saddled up for my first whitetail hunt of the season. I'd yet to shoot a public land animal with my bow, but I was full of piss and vinegar. I live in Kansas—the heart of deer country—and I wanted a big buck. One week later, I was a shell of a woman, begging the universe to send me anything resembling a deer so I could remember what they look like. If you hunt long enough for pretty much any game, you'll eventually find...

In this Week 42 edition of the GMS Weekly Podcast, we review another turbulent week in the global ship recycling markets, shaped by volatile currencies, a softening steel market, and shifting regional sentiment across India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Turkey. Global Market Overview Freight markets strengthened slightly as the Baltic Dry Index gained just over 1%, supported by Capesize, Panamax, and Dry segments. Oil prices continued to slide, closing near USD 57.38 per barrel, down 8% month-on-month and 18% year-on-year. Currencies stayed under pressure across the Sub-continent: the Indian rupee hovered near Rs 88.02 per USD, the Pakistani rupee weakened to PKR 283.6, the Bangladeshi taka slipped to BDT 122, and the Turkish lira traded close to TRY 42. Steel plate prices fluctuated across regions, with India around USD 389 per ton, Pakistan steady near USD 614, and Bangladesh holding around USD 519. Bangladesh After brief optimism, Chattogram slowed again. Local recyclers paused new purchases despite steel holding near USD 519 per ton and the taka weakening to BDT 122 per USD. Inventories continued to build while the market waited for political clarity and a new government direction. India Alang remained quiet as steel plates fell to USD 389 per ton and the rupee traded near Rs 88 per USD. Over 120,000 LDT of vessels arrived, but buyers mostly stayed away ahead of Diwali. Sentiment remains weak despite steady arrivals. Pakistan Inflation and cheaper Iranian steel imports pushed domestic plate prices down to USD 614 per ton. The rupee depreciated to PKR 283.6 per USD, and no yards have yet achieved Hong Kong Convention accreditation. Most buyers remain cautious and on hold. Turkey The Turkish lira closed around TRY 42 per USD. Offers were steady, but activity was limited as the year-end approaches and tonnage supply remains tight. Market Sentiment Volatility, inflation, and regulatory uncertainty continue to shape the global ship recycling landscape. India faces pricing pressure, Bangladesh is cautiously reawakening, Pakistan struggles with inflation and compliance, and Turkey stays muted. Drea and Anthony preview the NLCS between the Dodgers and Brewers: what (not) to make of the 6–0 season series, how L.A. lines up the rotation (Snell G1, Yamamoto G2, Ohtani timing), the bullpen plan with Roki Sasaki, and what must change offensively after the NLDS (hello, situational hitting). We also hit roster tweaks (3 catchers? adding a pitcher), the Brewers' “David vs Goliath” narrative, and the odd daytime start at Dodger Stadium.

The October Rundown. This week, I did not plan for a guest. I have been wanting to do a genuine solo episode for a while now.To put it lightly, my junior cross-country season has not gone to plan. Today, I reflect upon my season so far, and the challenges and unexpected turns so far this fall.Historically in my running career, when I don't run well, I can usually pinpoint injury or illness as the culprit, causing either a decline in fitness or reduced performance. For the first time in my career, I am not running well, but cannot pinpoint a specific reason. Nothing is making sense right now. Sometimes, this sport doesn't make sense. Running is hard, but that's what makes it rewarding. You have to stay self-aware and keep believing and persevering through tough times. Because, ultimately, championship season is what truly matters. The greats in every walk of life face slumps; it's part of the process. That's what I have to remind myself during the struggle.Takeaways:Embrace the journey, even when it doesn't go as planned.Mental focus is key to overcoming physical challenges.Every athlete faces slumps; it's part of the process.Trust in your training and preparation.Learn from past experiences to improve future performances. The importance of self-awareness in sports.Championship season is what truly matters.Keep believing and persevering through tough times.Adjusting race strategies can lead to better outcomes.Running is hard, but that's what makes it rewarding.I hope you enjoy this episode of The Sunday Shakeout!Shoutout to the team at the Battle of 509 who told me they are fans of the podcast. Slumps suck, don't they? Your energy's there. Your effort's there. Your commitment's there. But the scoreboard? It's making you feel like you're losing. That's when the S word creeps in…“I think I'm in a slump.” Ugh. But here's the question I'm asking on this week's Coming Up Clutch with J.R.™ show: Is it really a slump? Because what I've learned from my own experience and from working with elite pro and executive athletes is this: Slumps stick when you start letting yesterday's performance define today's identity. And the fix? It's not grinding harder. It's shifting your focus from yesterday's outcomes to what you can manage today. So in this week's 5-Minute Drill, I'm handing you the exact strategy I use with my private clients to help them… Regain momentum fast Get their edge back Stack WINs without waiting on results to validate them This strategy is backed by science and grounded in Scripture. And it's built for high-performers like you. So, if you're tired of letting numbers tell you who you are — then lock in to this episode. Let's get it! In this episode, you'll hear: Why using the word “slump” could be reinforcing the very thing you're trying to escape A simple 4-step strategy that helps you refocus and build momentum fast How tracking process-based behaviors can reset your mindset and performance The neuroscience behind small wins and why they chemically rewire your brain for motivation A biblical truth from that affirms your ability to reset and start fresh every day What most high performers get wrong when they hit a wall — and how to shift out of that trap for good Key Quotes “Your new benchmark is TODAY. Not two weeks ago. Not last year. Not when you were MVP in your business or with your health or with your team. Today.” - J.R. “Benchmarking your current identity against yesterday's results is a trap.” - J.R. “When you feel like you've hit the proverbial wall, outcomes are the LAST thing you want to focus on. It's a losing game.” - J.R. “Stop using someone else's scoreboard to measure where you're at. This is YOUR game. This is YOUR season.” - J.R. Connect with J.R.
