Our Lenten worship series is inspired by A Sanctified Art and called Everything [In] Between. This worship series is an invitation to navigate the polarities in our lives with more faith, intention, and openness to be transformed. As Jesus dies on the cross, one thief resists him and the other accepts him as Messiah. Jesus resists the empire but accepts his fate. We also are called to resist systems of power and oppression, and yet we ultimately have to accept

This worship series is an invitation to navigate the polarities in our lives with more faith, intention, and openness to be transformed. Pastor Matt's message invites reflection on Luke 19.29-40. Jesus doesn't instigate his own parade. Instead, just his quiet presence alone inspires the multitude to shout out and praise God. When the religious leaders try to silence the crowd, Jesus tells them that the

Pastor Matt's message invites reflection on Jesus' encounter with Zacchaeus in Luke 19.1-10. The crowds grumble at Jesus' self-invitation to stay with Zacchaeus, and their righteous indignation isn't without cause. As a tax collector, Zacchaeus has extorted money and acted in collusion with

Pastor Matt's message invites reflection on a parable from Luke 15.1-7 which is often called the Parable of the Lost Sheep. Who in this story is really lost? Who is found? Where might we be on the continuum between lost and found? Worship
Our Lenten worship series is inspired by A Sanctified Art and called Everything [In] Between. This worship series will be an invitation to navigate the polarities in our lives with more faith, intention, and openness to be transformed. Each weekly sub-theme explores two supposed binaries, like “faith & works” or “rest & growth,” or “grief & hope.” We often consider these ideas to be opposing. However, as we explore these concepts within the scriptures, we find nuance and complexity. We find
It's Lent! And the Sanctified Art series we are using this season asks us to explore where God meets us, where our faith thrives, where we can find solid ground to stand...or, "Everything (in) Between." This week we dive into the story of the Good Samaritan, and ask ourselves, what is the distance between a Stanger and a Neighbor? How can we tell? How do we behave? What does it mean? It's complex, of course, messy, and ashy, and so very human. So, join us as we, with Jesus, turn our faces toward Jerusalem, and begin the journey of Lent.
Second Sunday of Easter Final in our Wandering Heart series. Thanks to A Sanctified Art for the series! John 21:1-19 Acts 4:8-12 Hallelujah, y'all!

We revisit our 2017 conversation with Lisle Gwynn Garrity and Sarah Are Speed of A Sanctified Art, as we talk about weaving together their calls to ministry and the creative arts, their collaborative approach, and the sacred experience of visio divina.
In the beginning of the Gospel of John, we are told, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” And now we see proof—Jesus has overcome the darkness of sorrow, pain, grief, despair, and even death. The light shines in the darkness. Cover art from "Rabbouni!" by Rev. T. Denise Anderson. Oil on canvas. A Sanctified Art

We continue our Lent series called Seeking from A Sanctified Art and turn to the story of Jesus healing the man who was blind since birth. While the healing itself is only a few verses, the rest of John 9 follows how the people around the man responds. What kind of questions were they asking? And how do we ask the right questions for today?

We are in the season of preparation, the season of Advent. This year our theme for this season is from "A Sanctified Art," and is entitled "From Generation to Generation." On this third Sunday of Advent, we look at the interaction between Mary and Elizabeth. They come together to celebrate how God is using them to transform the world. We can help that process too if we can do what they did and see God in each other. Please join us at 10:00am in person (1630 Statesville Blvd in Salisbury, NC) or online at the link below. We started the season of Advent this Sunday with our series called Generation to Generation with poetry, art and devotions from Sanctified Art. We reflected and celebrated the genealogy of Jesus, finding hope in those who came before us, who passed on God's love and liberation and justice generation after generation. We have inherited a story that lasts, and there is room enough for our story! Our stories of faith and doubt, success and failure, joy and sadness give hope and are what we pass on to the next generation. To support this ministry, please text FCCLouisville (833) 267-9138 or visit Give Online*When you send “FCCLouisville” to (833) 267-9138 you will receive a one-time reply containing a link to give to First Christian Church of Louisville (1msg/request). We start the season of preparation, the season of Advent. This year our theme for this season is from "A Sanctified Art," and is entitled "From Generation to Generation." We revisit part of our 2020 conversation with graphic designer, painter, ordained pastor Lauren Wright Pittman (Lewp Studio, A Sanctified Art), about the difference between graphic design and visual art, the importance - and challenge - of representation, and the story behind the aijcast logo (which appears on our amazing swag).
This week, we continue our Lent series, Again and Again, following the curriculum from A Sanctified Art. Drawing from John 3:1-21, we meet Nicodemus, who went to see Jesus in the middle of the night. How does Jesus challenge him to change his values and understanding of the world? And how might we change our values to align with God's preferred future for the world?
This week, we continue our Lent series, Again and Again, following the curriculum from A Sanctified Art. Drawing from John 2:13-22, we look at Jesus in the Temple. What caused him to take the actions he did? How are we being called to follow his example?
This week, we continue our Lent series, Again and Again, following the curriculum from A Sanctified Art. Drawing from Mark 8:27-38, we look how our own understandings of Messiah might limit us in seeing the fullness of God and the invitation into God's community. Perhaps denying ourselves might mean to deny our desire to remain by ourselves, resisting the call into community.
Today, we launch our Lent series, Again and Again, following the curriculum from A Sanctified Art. Drawing from Mark 1:9-15, we look at the greatest temptation according to the author: to think that God is not present.
We start our new series Cultivating and Letting Go, and start by considering the distractions in our lives. Scripture: Luke 4:1-3 Preacher: Rev. John Asher Sermon material from: A Sanctified Art

Sunday, November 14, 2021 | Sermon Series: I've Been Meaning to Ask... | Pastor Michelle continues with the final of the four simple questions in this sermon and conversation series: Where do we go from here? I'VE BEEN MEANING TO ASK... A Sermon & Conversation Series Some of the best conversations start with good questions—questions we've been meaning to ask, questions that keep us curious, and questions that lead us deeper into courage and connection. This fall, as we continue to regather, and as the challenges to becoming beloved community once again still prove to be complex and endless, we'll be asking four simple questions together, meant to help us behold each other as images of the divine and strengthen our capacity for listening, empathy, and compassion. I've been meaning to ask... ...where are you from? ...where does it hurt? ...what do you need? ...where do we go from here? Through vulnerability and authenticity, may our courageous conversations lead us to glimpse hope, joy, and beauty—and to become the community God created us to be.

10.3.21. Some of the best conversations start with good questions—questions we've been meaning to ask, questions that keep us curious, and questions that lead us deeper into courage and connection. Our upcoming worship series from A Sanctified Art centers around four guiding questions: “I've been meaning to ask… Where are you from?… Where does it hurt?… What do you need?… Where do we go from here?” As you can see, these questions aren't surface level; they invite us to tell our stories, share our pain, care for one another, and dream about a new way forward together. Through vulnerability and authenticity, may our courageous conversations lead us to glimpse hope, joy, and beauty—and to become the community God created us to be. Rev. David Lewicki, preaching.

Pure and sanctified art Thou, O my God! How can the pen move and the ink flow after the breezes of loving-kindness have ceased, and the signs of bounty have vanished, when the sun of abasement hath risen, and the swords of calamity are drawn, when the heavens of sorrow have been upraised, and the darts of affliction and the lances of vengeance have rained from the clouds of power — in such wise that the signs of joy have departed from all hearts, and the tokens of gladness have been erased from every horizon, the gates of hope have been shut, the mercy of the supernal breeze hath ceased to waft over the rose-garden of faithfulness, and the whirlwind of extinction hath struck the tree of existence. The pen is groaning, and the ink bewaileth its plight, and the tablet is awestruck at this cry. The mind is in turmoil from the taste of this pain and sorrow, and the divine Nightingale calleth: “Alas! Alas! for all that hath been made to appear”. And this, O my God, is from naught but Thy hidden bounties.
