Send us a textWe share a warm holiday intro, then dive into Kendall Cherry's practical playbook for selling through story. We unpack case studies that convert, day-in-the-life frameworks, attraction and repelling, and how a content ecosystem can replace most sales calls.• using bottom-of-funnel case studies that show the real before and after• writing day-in-the-life and vision casting stories with concrete detail• threading offers into every post with subtle, soft selling• attracting right-fit buyers while repelling poor fits to save time• designing a no-calls-needed sales ecosystem with guides, forms, and video proposals• staying consistent instead of relying on referrals and launch spikes• sharing processed lessons learned without performative vulnerability• leveraging a unique origin story as your competitive moat• aligning sales design with energy, values, and delivery modelSo now that this episode is over, this is what I want you to do. Audit your content. Does every post that you've created in the last seven days, let's say, subtly sell? Are you hinting or nodding or threading your offer into the content and the stories that you're telling? Incorporate storytelling in your marketing, particularly around client case studies, so people can visualize themselves in the place of your current clients. Clarify your messaging to both attract and repel potential clients. It will save you so much time on unnecessary sales calls. Build a streamlined sales process that works for you. So everybody's sales process is a little different. You need it to work for the life that you have and your business and your offers. So build one that you actually love. And last, embrace the long game, nurture leads so they become ready to work with you. You love all things tiny marketing. Listen to today's podcast... I belong to the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers. As one of our chapter presidents, it was obvious that we were not the association of professional listeners. It took forever to get everyone focused to begin our events, as the chatter was so extensive. Listening can be hard for us to do. It is an investment that sometimes we are not willing to make and because of this, we may miss out on hearing the other person's story. Episode Summary In this opening episode of The Empowering Story, trauma-informed narrative coach Jean Dorff explores one of the most powerful — and most overlooked — moments in a survivor's healing journey: The moment before the first sentence. If you've ever opened a blank page… felt your chest tighten… and closed it again, this episode is for you. Jean guides you through the emotional, psychological, and embodied reasons why beginning your story feels so difficult — even if you've already done years of therapy, personal development, and deep reflection. You'll learn why high-functioning survivors struggle more, why the catastrophe your body predicts never arrives, what actually happens when you write that first sentence, and how beginning becomes the moment your past self, present self, and future self meet for the first time. This isn't an episode about trauma details. It's an episode about voice, safety, and the quiet relief waiting on the other side of beginning. In This Episode, You'll Discover: Why beginning your story feels impossible — even when you've done "the work" The three hidden barriers that keep survivors from writing their first sentence The truth about high-functioning survival strategies (and why they make beginning harder) Why the first sentence brings relief, not collapse What expressive writing research reveals about the healing process How writing reorganizes the story your nervous system has been carrying Why your beginning becomes a lighthouse for others How one sentence becomes the meeting point of your past, present, and future self A Gentle Note This episode is trauma-informed and non-triggering. Jean does not discuss graphic details, and the focus remains on emotional safety, identity, and the nervous system — not traumatic memories. You are safe here. Take the Next Step: Get the Story Clarity Guide If today's conversation stirred something in you — a memory, a desire to begin, or simply the quiet sense that your story is ready for a new chapter — the next step is gentle and clear:
Wolfgang Hammer - The Power of Story - [Invest Like the Best, EP.447] My guest today is my friend Wolfgang Hammer. Wolfgang is a successful film producer and executive who helped create House of Cards and ran several major studios, including Lionsgate, CBS Films and Miramax. He's now building a new kind of film studio with support from Mitch Lasky and Marc Andreessen. Wolfgang also helps founders and CEOs use storytelling to better understand what they do, and why it matters. In many ways, this conversation is a manual for how to find that story and communicate it in a way that resonates. Wolfgang shares the questions and tools he gives leaders to help them do the same. Our conversation explores how stories work, what great ones have in common, and why understanding your own story can be transformative. We talk about the three layers every story must have — the external, the emotional, and the philosophical — and how they apply to building companies and leading people. So many CEOs — at both startups and massive fortune 100 companies — have Wolfgang to thank for changing how they think and talk about their business, and I hope this episode gives you the tools to do the same. Please enjoy my conversation with the great Wolfgang Hammer. Maybe you've polished your prose, developed your characters, and built an intriguing world—but something still feels off.In this episode, I sat down with Kristina Stanley—award-winning author, fiction editor, and founder of Fictionary—to uncover the structural secrets that transform good stories into unforgettable ones. Here's what we discussed:[03:15] Why your beautifully written novel might feel "stuck" despite compelling characters—and the structural secret that transforms wandering manuscripts into page-turners[05:45] The five essential scenes that form every successful novel's backbone, including the exact percentages where they should appear in your manuscript[23:45] Why the midpoint is where most novels soar or lose their way—and how to create the shift that keeps readers hooked through Act Two[30:30] Plot Point 2's dual purpose that most writers miss: combining your darkest moment with the crucial information needed for the climax[34:30] How to craft climaxes that satisfy readers by answering your story's central question (not just adding exciting action scenes)Plus, Kristina shares her "story test" for evaluating your manuscript and explains why fixing structure before polishing prose will save you months of revision time.

Do you long to go deeper in your faith and help your children fall in love with Scripture — not just the stories, but the whole story? Today Zach Windahl shares what led him to dedicate years to studying scripture. He emphasizes the importance of simplifying the Bible for others, particularly for those who feel overwhelmed or confused. After moving to Australia and enrolling in a transformative Bible study program, everything changed. He discovered how the entire Bible connects — from Genesis to Revelation — and how understanding Scripture through a Hebrew lens opens up a whole new depth of meaning. The Bible isn't random. Every story, every verse, every command points to Jesus.
