The anguish over the lost habeas petition wasn't the only difficulty that Temujin Kensu and his supporters would face in the fall of 2010. A month before the decision, he stood before the Michigan State Parole Board, hoping to have his sentence commuted and ultimately win his freedom. But as the board peppered him with questions designed to assess his readiness for release, Kensu seemed to be his own worst enemy. And when multiple witnesses stepped forward to strenuously oppose his freedom, the weight of their testimony once again crushed his hopes of walking beyond the prison walls. Despite this considerable and rather alarming oppositional testimony, many influential advocacy organizations and powerful supporters remained steadfast in their belief in Kensu's innocence, sustaining their efforts in the hope of reversing what they considered his wrongful conviction. But were his advocates engaging in a righteous battle to correct a grave injustice, or were they instead unwitting pawns in a masterfully orchestrated deception? Framedpod.com
In a culture that constantly asks girls to define themselves on their own terms, the Bible offers a far more hopeful and life-giving truth: every girl has a purposeful place in God's redemptive story. In this episode of the Raising Godly Girls Podcast, Melissa Bearden sits down with author, speaker, and ministry leader Jen Oshman to explore how Scripture answers some of the most important questions girls are asking today about identity, purpose, and belonging. Together, they discuss what it means to understand humanity through a Biblical lens—and why God's design for women is both beautiful and essential to His greater plan. Drawing from her years of global ministry experience as a missionary and church planter in Japan and the Czech Republic, Jen shares how the Gospel speaks powerfully across cultures and life circumstances. Now serving in ministry in the United States, she offers thoughtful insight into how parents can help their daughters develop a Biblical Worldview that stands firm even in a rapidly changing culture. Melissa and Jen also address an important message for every girl to hear: no life story is too broken for redemption. Whether a girl is navigating cultural confusion, personal struggles, or past mistakes, the grace of Jesus Christ offers restoration, forgiveness, and a new identity rooted in truth. This conversation will encourage parents to disciple their daughters with confidence, reminding them that God is actively at work in every life—and that girls who understand His grace can grow into women who walk in courage, humility, and faith. Bible "heroes" are not really "heroes." They are fallen people in need of grace just like us. THEY aren't the point of the story--but they point us to the One who is.
We're diving into the art of storytelling today, and let me tell you, it's all about finding those gems in your life that connect us all. Our guest shares some solid wisdom: when you meet folks whose talents you admire, don't just admire from afar—team up and create something awesome together. We chat about the beauty of storytelling as a means to foster understanding and kindness in a world that can feel a bit chaotic and divided. Plus, there's no shortage of laughs as we swap tales, from Mick Jagger and Keith Richards' fateful meeting to personal experiences that highlight the power of a little kindness. So grab your coffee, kick back, and let's explore how your own story can be just as impactful as the legends we all know. Nothing hits quite like a good story, right? That's what we dive into today, talking about how storytelling isn't just for the pros; it's something we all can and should embrace. The guest, Neil, shares some juicy wisdom that you might want to jot down. He argues that in our fast-paced world, the simple act of connecting through stories can bridge gaps between people, just like how a campfire brings folks together on a chilly night. We chat about the importance of recognizing the talents around us, and how collaboration can lead to unexpected partnerships, like a fateful meeting on the subway between two future rock legends. It's a reminder that you never know where your next great connection might come from! Plus, there's a real-life anecdote about kindness that'll tug at your heartstrings. Neil recounts a moment at the LAX, where a little humor turned a tense situation into a moment of joy. This episode isn't just about storytelling; it's about the human experience and how sharing those experiences can be transformative. We get into the nitty-gritty of why your story matters, no matter how mundane you think it might be. Everyone has a narrative worth telling, and Neil emphasizes that the mundane can be just as meaningful as the extraordinary. So, if you've ever doubted the power of your story, this episode is for you. Tune in and get ready to reflect on your life's little moments and how they can connect you to others on a deeper level. It's all about kindness and the magic of storytelling!Links referenced in this episode:storyfire.netMentioned in this episode:My friend Dr. Noah St. John calls this 'the invisible brake.' The Book of Devarim is full of stories we've already heard. Yet Moshe tells them again, choosing carefully what to emphasize. He isn't changing the facts. He's teaching us that the meaning of our lives depends on the story we choose to tell about them. A child falls while learning to ride a bicycle. Is that a story of failure, or the first step toward independence? Moshe tells us how God refused his request to enter the Land of Israel, yet he also shows us how to see the blessing he was given instead, and how to understand his life's mission in a new way. As Tisha B'Av approaches, the Talmud offers us two models to remember the destruction of Jerusalem. We use both. We begin by mourning with the rabbis who weep over what was lost. We end with Rabbi Akiva, who laughs because he sees in those same ruins the certainty of redemption. The facts have not changed. But the ending has. And the story we choose to tell shapes the people we become. Send us Fan MailThere is never just one side to a story. Every situation has layers and emotions behind it. I often say there are three stories — one person's side, the other person's side, and the truth somewhere in between. Yet even then, there is still another layer, another story waiting to be told. The more we listen and try to understand, the more we see that stories are complicated, and the truth isn't always just one thing. https://www.instagram.com/traceylau99/

Send us a textWe share a warm holiday intro, then dive into Kendall Cherry's practical playbook for selling through story. We unpack case studies that convert, day-in-the-life frameworks, attraction and repelling, and how a content ecosystem can replace most sales calls.• using bottom-of-funnel case studies that show the real before and after• writing day-in-the-life and vision casting stories with concrete detail• threading offers into every post with subtle, soft selling• attracting right-fit buyers while repelling poor fits to save time• designing a no-calls-needed sales ecosystem with guides, forms, and video proposals• staying consistent instead of relying on referrals and launch spikes• sharing processed lessons learned without performative vulnerability• leveraging a unique origin story as your competitive moat• aligning sales design with energy, values, and delivery modelSo now that this episode is over, this is what I want you to do. Audit your content. Does every post that you've created in the last seven days, let's say, subtly sell? Are you hinting or nodding or threading your offer into the content and the stories that you're telling? Wolfgang Hammer - The Power of Story - [Invest Like the Best, EP.447] My guest today is my friend Wolfgang Hammer. Wolfgang is a successful film producer and executive who helped create House of Cards and ran several major studios, including Lionsgate, CBS Films and Miramax. He's now building a new kind of film studio with support from Mitch Lasky and Marc Andreessen. Wolfgang also helps founders and CEOs use storytelling to better understand what they do, and why it matters. In many ways, this conversation is a manual for how to find that story and communicate it in a way that resonates. Wolfgang shares the questions and tools he gives leaders to help them do the same. Our conversation explores how stories work, what great ones have in common, and why understanding your own story can be transformative. We talk about the three layers every story must have — the external, the emotional, and the philosophical — and how they apply to building companies and leading people. So many CEOs — at both startups and massive fortune 100 companies — have Wolfgang to thank for changing how they think and talk about their business, and I hope this episode gives you the tools to do the same. Please enjoy my conversation with the great Wolfgang Hammer. Maybe you've polished your prose, developed your characters, and built an intriguing world—but something still feels off.In this episode, I sat down with Kristina Stanley—award-winning author, fiction editor, and founder of Fictionary—to uncover the structural secrets that transform good stories into unforgettable ones. Here's what we discussed:[03:15] Why your beautifully written novel might feel "stuck" despite compelling characters—and the structural secret that transforms wandering manuscripts into page-turners[05:45] The five essential scenes that form every successful novel's backbone, including the exact percentages where they should appear in your manuscript[23:45] Why the midpoint is where most novels soar or lose their way—and how to create the shift that keeps readers hooked through Act Two[30:30] Plot Point 2's dual purpose that most writers miss: combining your darkest moment with the crucial information needed for the climax[34:30] How to craft climaxes that satisfy readers by answering your story's central question (not just adding exciting action scenes)Plus, Kristina shares her "story test" for evaluating your manuscript and explains why fixing structure before polishing prose will save you months of revision time.

Do you long to go deeper in your faith and help your children fall in love with Scripture — not just the stories, but the whole story? Today Zach Windahl shares what led him to dedicate years to studying scripture. He emphasizes the importance of simplifying the Bible for others, particularly for those who feel overwhelmed or confused. After moving to Australia and enrolling in a transformative Bible study program, everything changed. He discovered how the entire Bible connects — from Genesis to Revelation — and how understanding Scripture through a Hebrew lens opens up a whole new depth of meaning. The Bible isn't random. Every story, every verse, every command points to Jesus. Here is some of what we cover: Why modeling your faith matters more than preaching to your kids The difference between a Greek vs. Hebrew mindset when reading Scripture What to do when Christian culture and actual Jesus living don't align Connect with Zach Windahl: Website: Zach Windahl Facebook: Zach Windahl | Facebook Instagram: Zach Windahl (@zachwindahl) Links Mentioned: The Bible, Simplified: By Zach Windahl The Bible Study: By Zach Windahl See the Good: By Zach Windahl Practicing the Way: By John Mark Comer Revolutionary Parenting: By George Barna Zach Windahl – The Brand Sunday Related Episodes: Consistency in Bible Study :: Katie Orr [Ep 352] Every Mom a Theologian :: Phylicia Masonheimer [Ep 389] Why Read the Entire Bible :: Tara Leigh Cobble [Ep 312] Featured Sponsors: Thrive Causemetics: Try your new trusty favorites with an exclusive set for our listeners.
