Ravindar Action: Peter Hein Written and Directed: Trivikram Producer: S. Radha Krishna (Chinababu) Release date: 09 April, 2015 Interesting Facts: Principal photography began on 19 September at a Hyderabad-based shopping mall.  As with any Trivikram movie, a major portion takes place in a house set this time a house in Madurai so Art director Ravinder said In the film, the house was supposed to be near the Chennai seashore. We did find one but it was very congested, so we then chose to build a set in Hyderabad,”  “We brought big trees from Kadiyam village near Rajahmundry and wood from Delhi and other material from Chennai to build the house,” he says. The cost of this set was nearly Rs 1.5 crore which was, in fact, far less than what it would have cost the production house to go and shoot in Chennai.  It collected 20 crores on opening day, Third highest of all time ever and on a pre release business of 54 crores it collected 52 crores finishing as above average at the box office with minimal losses. Allu Arjun became the first Telugu actor to score back to back 50 share movies iN telugu cinema history with Race Gurram and Son of Satyamurthy.  Writing/Direction: Main story is Satyamiurthy dies and now Viraj's family is in debt. He meets Paida Sambasiva Rao and then his life takes an unexpected turn and wants to marry Sameera but he tells him to get land documents from Devaraj Naidu. Then he meets Devaraj and finds himself in another situation. These 3 points are the main story.  Subplots:  Niece school fees  Vennela Kishore John thing  Adah Sharma wedding thing - actually Sree Vishnu getting his revenge on Allu Arjun for something he did  Rao Ramesh and MS Narayana reunitung in family  Devaraj Naidu - Veeraswamy Naidu faction fight - we dont; even know why they; e fighting its stretotpycal faction conflict in a movie.  Nitya Menon - bava story  Brahmanandham story  With all of these things going on at once, its so difficult to write a perfect script and entertain audiences and do setups and payoffs for all these subplots within the script. Trivikram tried, but as a result the writing gets bogged down and to be honest there's actually too much going on in this movie. Because Triviram is a very experienced writer he held it together but even a master like him you can tell something is off.  The movie mainly runs on dialogues and situations. There are no elevations, mass dialogues, warnings, etc. So this is actually the closest Trivikram has come to making a pure drama.  There are commercial elements in there but the action doesnt necessarily feel blended seamlessly, the comedy is almost non existent, the romantic track isn't convincing at all why would Sameera fall for Viraj they have 0 chemistry to be honest. And basically none of them work except the drama and situations created for the characters.  Technicalities: Songs by BGM are CLASSIC RAA AYYA. Each and every song is a classic. Lyrics deserves special mention and maturity is realizing Chal Chalo Chalo is the best song in the album. Seethakalam also banger and then Sirivennela mass in Come to the Party. Super Machi shook all of India and still does. If you ask me this is a way better album that Attarintiki Daredi. Its more varied and songs are more catchy for sure.  BGM is also very good and is apt for each situations.  Cinematography by Prasad Murella is AMAZING.

Joining Postcards for the first time is Jayaprakash Satyamurthy. He is the author, poet, bass player, vegan, animal rescuing collection of awesomeness hailing from Bangalore India. I have podcasted with JP once before on Dickheads for the episode on Counter-Clock World, I recommend that episode where we went deep on Indian Science fiction and of course Philip K Dick. Since that episode, I read and reviewed JP's latest collection of fiction Come Tomorrow. In my review, I said this: The comparisons to great writers like Thomas Liggoti and Laird Barron are fair. There is a similar level of quality. Readers looking for that cosmic level of dread combined with razor-sharp wordsmithing and uncanny knack for looking at the weird bubbles floating up in our reality then Come Tomorrow is worth every penny spent or minute of attention given. In this interview we talk about growing up a genre reader in India, playing music, finding his fictional voice and the second half is breakdown of the stories in Come Tomorrow. •You can find my books here: Amazon-https://www.amazon.com/David-Agranoff/e/B004FGT4ZW •And me here: Goodreads-http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/2988332.David_Agranoff Twitter-https://twitter.com/DAgranoffAuthor Blog-http://davidagranoff.blogspot.com/

In her searing book Ants among Elephants: An Untouchable Family and the Making of Modern India (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2017), Sujatha Gidla traces her family’s history over four generations in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. From their conversion into Christianity by Canadian missionaries and her grandfather’s stint in the British army; her uncle Satyamurthy’s rise as a revolutionary poet, labor organizer and eventual founder of the Maoist People’s War Group (PWG) and her mother Manjula’s struggles raising three children in the face of everyday caste discrimination, to her own involvement with the PWG’s radical student wing that ended with brief imprisonment, it is the impossibility of transcending caste even in “modern” India that she circles back to. She writes, “Your life is your caste, your caste is your life.” Her book has been reviewed to critical acclaim in the New York Times, BBC, and Slate among others. Gidla lives in New York City and works as a subway conductor for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Madhuri Karak is a Ph.D. candidate in cultural anthropology at The Graduate Center, City University of New York. Her dissertation, titled “Part-time Insurgents, Civil War and Extractive Capital in an Adivasi Frontier,” explores processes of statemaking in the bauxite-rich mountains of southern Odisha, India.
