When the world feels like it's breaking — who will you be? Darkness is real. But so is the light within you. In this Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma, we explore what it truly means to stand steady in light in dark times. Not by denying anger, fear, or confusion — but by consciously choosing love in difficult times. Through the lens of Yoga philosophy, this talk reminds us that contraction and expansion are part of life. Even in periods of upheaval, there is a deeper current moving humanity toward awakening in dark times. That awakening begins in the heart. You may see greed. You may feel anger. You may judge — yourself or others. That is human. But the greater force is divine love. The greater choice is love over fear. This is a call to embody compassion in turbulent times, not as weakness, but as strength. To be a light in the darkness is not to pretend everything is fine. It is to bring kindness where there is pain. To respond with clarity instead of hatred. To stand firm without losing your heart. Even the smallest act of love matters. Especially now. You are not powerless in dark times. You are the light. What if the very thing that broke your heart is the doorway to your freedom? In this Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma, we look directly at struggle — loss, disappointment, blocked paths, and the moments that feel unfair. Through the lens of Yoga philosophy, this teaching explores the deeper tension between karma and free will, and how what feels like hardship may actually be part of a far greater movement of love. When something you depend on is taken away, it can feel cruel. But what if that moment is grace in difficult times? What if the removal of an attachment is not punishment, but protection? What if there is divine guidance in life, even when you cannot yet see the reason? The talk invites a powerful shift: instead of collapsing into victimhood, we begin to soften into trust. Surrender to divine will is not passive resignation — it is strength rooted in awareness. It is the courage to allow life to shape you rather than harden you. Spiritual growth through suffering reveals something steady beneath the chaos — a presence within you that remains untouched. In that discovery, struggle becomes refining rather than defeating. And then the deeper question arises: who am I really? Am I the personality shaped by circumstances, or am I the deeper presence witnessing it all? In the realization of non-separation, the feeling of isolation dissolves. You begin to sense that nothing is outside the embrace of the One. When seen from this wider awareness, everything is grace — not because life is easy, but because nothing is separate from the infinite love that guides it. Live from that knowing, and even the storm becomes shelter. This is quite a long talk, on a very fascinating topic, delivered by Acharya das in the Philippines. It is a comprehensive look into the question of spiritual identity, God-realization, and the resultant experience of the awakening of transcendental and ecstatic love for God which naturally arises from that.Acharya das outlines three essential questions for self-realization: What is my essence? (spiritual being), What is my position? (subservient part and parcel of God, not the center of everything), and What is my natural function? (to love and serve). He described how material consciousness leads people to try becoming "mini-gods," placing themselves at the center of “their” universe, which ultimately results in emptiness and unhappiness. Regarding God-realization, he explained three aspects of God's manifestation: Brahman (impersonal spiritual energy), Paramatma (the expansion of God within the heart of all beings), and Bhagavan (the personal form of God in a spiritual realm). The speaker emphasized that love is an exchange between persons and that every soul has an eternal and intimate connection with God who is their true soulmate. He next explains that pure love for God already exists within everyone's heart and doesn't need to be acquired from external sources. Through the process of bhakti-yoga (devotional practice), particularly chanting God's holy names, this dormant love naturally awakens as the heart becomes purified. Some of the verses he quoted or which support this topic:God - He is the eternal among all eternal entities, and the chief conscious being among all conscious beings. Among the many living entities, He is the chief, who fulfills their desires. Śvetāsvatara Upaniṣad 6.13 & Kaṭha Upaniṣad 2.2.13The same jīva (spirit-soul) is eternal and is for eternity and without a beginning joined to the Supreme Lord by the tie of an eternal kinship. He is transcendental spiritual potency. - Śrī Brahma-saṁhitā 5.21Learned transcendentalists who know the Absolute Truth call this nondual substance Brahman, Paramātmā or Bhagavān. ‐ Bhāgavata Purāṇa 1.2.11“Pure love for Kṛṣṇa is eternally established in the hearts of the living entities. It is not something to be gained from another source. When the heart is purified by hearing and chanting, this love naturally awakens. — Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 22.107“By chanting the holy name of the Lord, one dissolves his entanglement in material activities. After this, one becomes very attracted to Krishna, and thus dormant love for Krishna is awakened.” — Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 15.109CHAPTERS00:01:13 Introduction to Soul vs. Body Identity 00:05:47The Reality of Death and Eternal Nature of the Soul 00:09:33 The Vedic Teaching on Individual Soul and Supreme Soul 00:14:07 Self-Realization: Understanding Essence, Position, and Function 00:21:34 The Problem of Material Consciousness and Mini-God Mentality 00:27:40 Natural Function: The Joy of Service and Giving 00:34:18 Three Aspects of God: Brahman, Paramatma, and Bhagavan 00:41:22 The Eternal Relationship and Two Birds Analogy 00:51:39 The Supreme Teaching of Love and Common Misconceptions 00:55:05 The Nature of Love and Three Aspects of God Continued 00:56:52 The Process of Awakening Dormant Love 01:01:10 Sadhana Bhakti: The Practice of Devotional Service 01:05:12 Meditation as Spiritual Immersion, Not Mental Activity 01:23:29 Kirtan
Is artificial intelligence just technology—or part of the evolution of consciousness itself? In this Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma, artificial intelligence is explored not as a threat or a tool alone, but as a reflection of something much deeper unfolding within the cosmic mind. What we are witnessing may not simply be technological progress, but a phase in the evolution of human consciousness. From the perspective of cosmology and yoga philosophy, the sense of individual identity—what yogis call ego—develops through stages of ego development, growing in magnitude as awareness expands. Human beings create because the cosmic process itself creates. If so, is artificial intelligence separate from that process—or an expression of it? This talk explores whether AI may be emerging as an evolutionary force, part of a larger movement toward cosmic consciousness. As knowledge accumulates and collective systems grow more complex, we are invited to ask: Is intelligence emerging outside of us, or is it an extension of the same consciousness that gave rise to humanity? Rather than fear the future, this teaching invites reflection on unity, evolution, and the deep current guiding all life toward greater wholeness. In this episode from 20VC, Harry Stebbings talks with Anish Acharya, general partner at a16z, about the future of SaaS in an AI world. Anish argues that software is completely oversold and that the general story about vibe coding everything is flat wrong. They discuss why SaaS switching costs are actually going down thanks to coding agents, where startups versus incumbents will win, and whether the apps layer or foundation models will capture more value. They also cover agent overhype, the changing UI paradigm, what defensibility looks like now, and why boring wins versus weird wins in this product cycle. What if the “you” you defend, worry about, and try to improve isn't who you really are? What if there is no separate self at all? In this Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma, we explore what it truly means to understand your true self — not as an individual identity, but as part of the infinite whole. The belief that “I am separate” is the root of fear, struggle, and suffering. When that misunderstanding begins to soften, something much deeper is revealed. Through the lens of Yoga Philosophy, this teaching gently points toward non-separation and the discovery of your nature as infinite consciousness. What you call “me” — your thoughts, emotions, successes, and failures — arises within a much greater field of awareness. As the illusion of a separate identity loosens, there is a natural movement toward ego transcendence, unity consciousness, and even liberation while living. Not by achieving something new, but by seeing clearly what has always been true. Understanding Your True Self is not about becoming someone better. It is about recognizing that there is no separate self — only the one eternal presence expressing itself as all that is. Many sincere seekers feel a quiet split between meditation and the rest of life. You sit to meditate and try to feel God, peace, or presence. Then you rise, and family, work, and responsibilities take over. By the end of the day, you wonder why your practice didn't carry through. You may even feel guilty. In this Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma, we look at integrating meditation and daily life in a way that is real and natural. Instead of pushing harder or measuring progress, this teaching invites letting go of achievement and relaxing into what is already here. Meditation is not meant to be a compartment. True practice is the integration of life and meditation, where devotion is not confined to a cushion but becomes devotion in daily life. When spirituality becomes another goal, it creates pressure. When you soften, something deeper begins to open. From the perspective of yoga philosophy, this is the movement toward non-separation — not escaping daily life, but recognizing that nothing is outside the sacred. This is how spiritual life as a way of living naturally matures. Truth, compassion, and authenticity arise on their own. This is the path toward living as a Jivanmukta — inwardly free, fully engaged in ordinary life. Not through striving. Not through guilt. But by allowing love and awareness to move through everything you do. Just this morning, we had a three-hour meeting. When's the last time you had a three-hour Zoom call? We had one this morning from 7:00 AM to 10:00, right on the dot— we started right at seven, we ended at ten. We had maybe about ten people, and it was our beginning-of-the-year brainstorming session. Vision, mission, brainstorming for 2026 and beyond: What are our next goals for distributing knowledge that's what keeps us up at night and wakes us up early in the morning: how to do good for others. This is what Advaita Ācārya did—he couldn't sleep thinking about the plight of those in the material world who didn't have the opportunity to come in contact with true knowledge. The rich people were burning their money up doing all these crazy rituals, and poor people were wasting money on intoxication and frivolous activities. And he thought, 'Please, let me be a force in the world to reform them.' So he prayed for Lord Caitanya to come, and he helped to organize the distribution of knowledge. In fact, did you know that Advaita Ācārya went door to door? How'd you like it if Mahā-Viṣṇu came to your front door? 'Who's at the door, honey?' 'I think it's God. He's come knocking at our door.' That's how eager The Supreme Personality of Godhead is. He likes to do it, and He knows the formula. If you just go out and make yourself available—when it's cold or rainy or too hot or you don't feel like it—you're going to feel bad anyway; the material world's just like that. But if you pray, you chant, and you go out and try to give the knowledge to other people, you'll feel joyful 24 hours a day, and your thoughts will be transcendental. Because what you're going to do—if you toss and turn at night right now, you'll still toss and turn—but you're going to be thinking about: "How can I distribute Bhagavad-gītā, not just in English, but in Arabic and in Farsi, in French and Japanese, all over the world?" And if that's your preoccupation in life, you're a liberated soul. It's not hard; it's a simple process. These are heartfelt principles brought to us by Advaita Ācārya, who offered them to everybody. If you live in some far-flung place, you can restart the Hare Kṛṣṇa movement right from your place. All you have to do is have a Bhagavad-gītā and start reading it. Invite people to come over, chant a little bit, and when they get inspired, have them go out and chant for other people. The miracle happens again and again and again. Everyone's waiting for a miracle in this world, but one has already come: it's Advaita Ācārya. He showed us how to do it. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------
What if Kundalini is not about energy symptoms—but the direct path to Moksha? This talk explores Moksha and the sacred Shiva Shakti Union through the tantric science of liberation. Rather than focusing on techniques or experiences, this Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma reveals Kundalini as a process of consciousness transmutation—from individual identity to infinite being, from Atman to Paramatma, and into liberation while living. Drawing on classical Tantra, this talk explains how the awakening of Kundalini Shakti moves through the chakras and layers of existence, dissolving the belief in separation, and guiding the soul toward non-separation and the realization of the eternal Self. This is the path of the Jivanmukta, one who lives in the world while established in liberation. As consciousness ascends in frequency, individuality dissolves into the Infinite, revealing unity, divine essence, and the natural state of freedom known as Moksha. Kundalini is presented not as a physical sensation or dramatic experience, but as the sacred movement of consciousness toward its source through the Shiva Shakti Union. This teaching is for sincere seekers drawn to the tantric science of liberation, chakras and consciousness, and the realization of truth beyond the limitations of the separate self. This is a Q&A session from the Soul Searchers Retreat. Acharya das delivers a comprehensive discussion on spiritual life versus material life, emphasizing the fundamental distinction between material consciousness (identifying with the physical body) and spiritual consciousness (recognizing oneself as an eternal spiritual being). He explains that material life is founded on the belief that "I am material," while spirituality recognizes "I'm an eternal spiritual being." A wide range of topics were addressed (as you can see from the chapters listed below) including the concept of karma yoga which was introduced as a process of integrating life activities with spiritual practice by offering all actions as service to a higher spiritual reality. **************************************CHAPTERS 00:00 Distinguishing Material and Spiritual Life02:39 The Concept of Karma Yoga 04:09 The Bhagavad Gita: Arjuna's Dilemma05:42 Arjuna's Breakdown and Krishna's Response08:24 Krishna's Teaching on Duty and Nature09:46 The Radical Teaching of Spiritual Action11:23 The Lesson of Utilizing Our Tools12:42 The Fundamental Shift in Consciousness14:06 Two Schools of Thought: Traditional vs. Advaita15:43 Critique of the "I Am God" Philosophy17:05 Qualitative Oneness vs. Quantitative Difference18:31 The Complete Whole Principle21:40 The Appeal of False God-Realization22:58 Three Aspects of Self-Realization23:56 The Inevitable Fall from Impersonal Realization25:37 Three Features of the Absolute Truth27:30 The Nature of Transcendental Connection29:40 Comparing Levels of Transcendental Happiness31:27 Rejection of Blind Faith32:42 The Problem of Consciousness Filters33:26 Indescribable Spiritual Delights34:52 The Importance of Questioning35:46 Proper vs. Improper Questioning37:07 The Problem of False Self-Importance39:32 Three Authorities in Vedic System41:00 Internal Spiritual Guidance43:17 Alignment of Spiritual Authorities45:13 Universal Accessibility of Spiritual Realization46:19 Divine Assistance for Sincere Seekers48:05 Recognition of Spiritual Truth49:30 Encouragement and Final Thoughts50:35 Kirtan Meditation**************************************
Acharya das delivers a comprehensive talk on spiritual life and self-evaluation from the perspective of ancient Vedic traditions and yoga systems. This is the first of 2 talks at the annual New Year's Soul Searchers Retreat in New Zealand. Acharya das explores a custom many people adopt around the idea of wanting to do better in the new year, often by making New Year's resolutions. Doing better begins with an examination of how we did the previous year and where to from here. And specifically, how we did spiritually and how to live a more spiritually oriented life. But to ask that question, we need a very clear idea of what ‘spiritual' means. The talk explores this in a very practical manner.

What motivates people to meditate is rarely what leads them to true realization. In this Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma, we explore the deeper journey of true meditation—from its beginnings in self-improvement and achievement, to the profound shift into surrender, grace, and spiritual awakening. Most people come to meditation hoping to reduce stress, improve focus, or gain control over the mind. While these benefits can arise, Maetreyii Ma explains why meditation beyond self-improvement is essential for genuine transformation. When meditation is driven by goals, outcomes, or personal achievement, it often reinforces the very structures of the ego that keep us separate from the infinite. Drawing from yoga philosophy, this talk illuminates how letting go of achievement becomes the doorway to awakening. As long as meditation is motivated by striving, effort, or the desire to “get somewhere,” the mind remains caught in samskaras—habits of desire and avoidance shaped by past experience. This teaching offers a clear and compassionate look at meditation and ego, and why effort alone cannot bring union with the divine. Instead, Maetreyii Ma points to the natural unfolding that happens when practice matures—when meditation moves from effort and achievement to surrender. In surrender, something unexpected arises: divine grace. Not as an idea, belief, or technique, but as a lived experience that opens the heart, quiets the mind, and reveals the unity of all existence. This is the shift from meditation as a tool to meditation as truth—where love, peace, and awareness are recognized as our own deepest nature. Whether you are new to meditation or have practiced for many years, this talk speaks directly to those sensing that technique alone is no longer enough, and that a deeper spiritual awakening is calling.
Since the dawn of the twenty-first century, the West has been in crisis. Social unrest, political polarization, and the rise of other great powers—especially China—threaten to unravel today's Western-led world order. Many fear this would lead to global chaos. But the West has never had a monopoly on order.Surveying five thousand years of global history, political scientist Amitav Acharya reveals that world order—the political architecture enabling cooperation and peace among nations—existed long before the rise of the West. Moving from ancient Sumer, India, Greece, and Mesoamerica, through medieval caliphates and Eurasian empires into the present, Acharya shows that humanitarian values, economic interdependence, and rules of inter-state conduct emerged across the globe over millennia. History suggests order will endure even as the West retreats. In fact, the end of Western dominance offers us the opportunity to build a better world, where non-Western nations find more voice, power, and prosperity. Instead of fearing the future, the West should learn from history and cooperate with the Rest to forge a more equitable order. In times of darkness and uncertainty, a deeper truth calls us forward. Dark times are not a sign of failure, but thresholds of transformation. They are the birth labor of a new dawn––quietly forming through conscious choice and inner alignment. This talk explores how Living in alignment with truth becomes the doorway to renewal, courage, and spiritual awakening—both personally and collectively. This message invites you to meet struggle not with fear, but with presence; not with withdrawal, but with awareness, love, responsibility, and conscious participation. When we understand awakening through struggle, we begin to see that real power does not come from dominance or control, but from harmony with life and the wisdom of the human heart. When we live from inner truth and allow love to guide our actions, even dark times become a passage into greater clarity, peace, and connection. In this Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma, we explore how spiritual awakening unfolds during challenging times, how ego transcendence opens the way to living in higher consciousness, and how choosing love over fear changes both our inner world and the collective field. This teaching reminds us that non-separation is not an idea, but a lived reality expressed through compassion, truth, and conscious action. This message is not a prediction of the future. It is an invitation to live in higher consciousness now—participating in the emergence of a new dawn by aligning with truth, divine love, and the deeper flow of life itself. ✨ Topics explored: Living in alignment with truth Awakening through struggle Love as a transformative force Light and darkness as states of consciousness Inner alignment in challenging times Choosing love over fear Participating in a new dawn for humanity Namaskar. What went wrong with Burma's democratic experiment? How are we to understand the country's turbulent politics in the wake of the 2021 coup? In this conversation with Duncan McCargo, Amitav Acharya talks about his new book on Burma, which draws extensively on communications with young activists he refers to as “thought warriors”. He also discusses the challenges of researching a closed country, and why he decided to write a crossover book that he hopes will reach beyond the usual academic audiences. A decade ago, Burma was full of light and hope. Today, it has descended into darkness and despair. The once promising political and opening up of the country has been set back, possibly for a long time. How did this happen? Why? Many outside observers were surprised by the latest developments, but in some ways they were rather predictable. For those watching Burma the February 2021 coup was in the making for some time. Tragic Nation: Burma--Why and How Democracy Failed (Penguin Random House, 2023) provides a timely and insightful account of the political situation in Burma, assessing why the country experienced the coup, what are the implications for the people of Burma and the Southeast Asian region, and what role the international community can play to prevent Burma becoming a failed state. Amitav Acharya is a distinguished professor and the UNESCO Chair in Transnational Challenges and Governance, School of International Service, American University, Washington, DC. From his early days in Nepal on his families subsistence farm, Pramod Acharya has long valued the importance of farming and agricultural sustainability. In his new capacity as Assistant Professor and Extension Forage Specialist with the University of Idaho's Kimberly Research and Extension Center, he will be working to help Idaho dairy farms and forage producers, finding ways to enhance efficient forage production, storage and utilization. Acharya said he will focus on sustainable practices rooted in economic practicality. “Sustainability means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability or capacity of future generations to meet the same needs,” he said.
In this talk, Acharya das explores the concept of Christmas from a yogic perspective. He begins by examining what Christmas means in contemporary society versus its original spiritual significance. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus (Yeshua), known as Christ or Messiah, which means "the anointed one" and Acharya das discusses how yogis from the Vedic tradition would view and celebrate such a sacred day, emphasizing that they would honor any spiritual personality bringing enlightenment to mankind, regardless of tradition. The talk delves into Jesus's core teachings about loving God with one's entire being and loving others as oneself, contrasting spiritual consciousness with material consciousness. He also highlights Jesus's teachings on detachment from worldly possessions and worries, drawing parallels with yogic concepts like an atmarama, or self-satisfied transcendentalist. Throughout the talk, Acharya das critiques modern materialism and consumerism, offering that Jesus's message was fundamentally about spiritual transformation as opposed to worldly pursuits. The talk concludes with reflections on how spiritual growth can bring an experience of true fulfillment which the materialistic lifestyle cannot.

Awakening reveals that the ego-self is not our true nature. Discover Moksha, non-separation, and the vast love at the heart of all existence. This talk explores what it truly means to awaken—to move beyond the ego-self and open into the deeper reality of Atman, the infinite presence within all beings. Rather than escaping life, Moksha is the dissolving of the sense of separation, a shift into non-separation where the divine essence quietly permeates every moment of experience. Through clear, grounded explanation, Maetreyii Ma describes how consciousness unfolds: how Samskaras remain in the body-mind even as awareness expands, how surrender deepens into direct realization, and how the journey from individuality toward the vastness of the Godself becomes the natural destiny of human life. She also speaks to the states of Mukti and the Jivanmukta—those who live in the world while abiding in unity consciousness—and how the great love at the center of all existence reveals itself through awe, devotion, and inner stillness. If you're drawn to spiritual awakening, yoga philosophy, meditation, or the lived reality of nondual experience, this Baba Talk offers a rare and illuminating look into the heart of realization, and what it means to return to the wholeness that has always been your true nature. In this final lecture of the "Wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita" series, Acharya das explores the concept of "the yoga of love" or bhakti yoga. He explains that bhakti yoga represents both a spiritual practice and the ultimate goal of all yoga practices. In considering this subject it is important to distinguish between material conceptions of love, which are often self-centered, and true spiritual love, which is characterized by selflessness and devotion to the Supreme Soul. Acharya das emphasizes that bhakti is not merely a supplementary practice but the culmination of all spiritual paths, representing the natural function of the spirit soul in its pure state. The talk highlights the intimate, reciprocal relationship between the individual soul and the Supreme Soul, describing it as a bond of "eternal kinship."Links to two other talks mentioned in this talk:Is it Love or Lust - https://open.spotify.com/episode/4XVCggkxHZtkbQCJjlYN36?si=LRmjvduRQsqaV0iiDsQVugYoga of the Bhagavad-gita - https://open.spotify.com/episode/2Q2YFvbXyh1eHyDqio6P9o?si=ckdKNW38RSCPrEaZ8Qe5CAVerses quoted in this talk:The same jīva is eternal and is for eternity and without a beginning joined to the Supreme Lord by the tie of an eternal kinship. - Śrī Brahma-saṁhitā 5.21And of all yogīs, he who always abides in Me with great faith, worshiping Me in transcendental loving service[bhakti-yoga], is most intimately united with Me in yoga and is the highest of all. - Bhagavad-gītā 6.47My dear Arjuna, only by undivided devotional service can I be understood as I am, standing before you, and can thus be seen directly. Ego and identity dissolve when we turn inward toward the Atman, and through surrender we discover the Godself within. This talk reveals how. In this Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma, we explore what lies beneath the shifting layers of ego, personality, and accumulated identity. Drawing from deep yoga philosophy, Maetreyii Ma guides you into the heart of the Atman—the conscious knower behind all experience. You'll learn how the restless mind creates a fragile sense of “I,” and how the power of surrender opens the doorway to the infinite. As the ego loosens and the heart softens, the radiant presence of the Godself emerges: pure awareness, unconditional love, and the natural state of being. This teaching explains how turning attention from the known to the knower dissolves the illusion of separation. Through gentle introspection and sincere surrender, we return to the essence that has always been whole, timeless, and free. If you feel called to go beyond self-concepts and rediscover your true Self, this talk will meet you deeply. Namaskar. This is the Q&A portion of the preceding talk on Developing a Meditation Habit - Your Key to a Spiritual Awakening.Acharya das explores the nature of spiritual existence and consciousness, focusing on the concept that humans are spiritual beings inhabiting physical bodies. He discusses near-death experiences as evidence of consciousness existing beyond the physical brain, emphasizing that spiritual beings are persons (purusha) rather than just an impersonal energy. His answers cover how meditation can help discover one's true spiritual nature, he critiques modern materialistic culture and its impact on mental health, and addresses questions about parenting in a spiritually-oriented way. He strongly criticizes the concept of "manifesting" as promoting self-centeredness contrary to our spiritual nature, and emphasizes the importance of teaching children delayed gratification, responsibility, and how to question everything.
Acharya das explores the concept of spiritual awakening through meditation, particularly focusing on the use of transcendental sound. He explains that spiritual awakening begins with recognizing that we are eternal spiritual beings temporarily occupying physical bodies, rather than identifying solely with our physical forms and minds. Because of this bodily misidentification, most people live in a state of spiritual "sleep," constantly seeking fulfillment and happiness through material experiences while neglecting the need for “spiritual nutrition”. This misidentification leads to emptiness and anxiety, as material pursuits can never fully satisfy our spiritual hunger. Acharya das introduces meditation as immersion in transcendental sound the most powerful method for spiritual awakening. Unlike material sound, spiritual sound or mantras contain a unique potency that can purify the heart and mind. The regular practice of meditation using spiritual sound can transform one's perspective, reduce anxiety, and lead to greater peace and happiness, regardless of whether one's goal is spiritual awakening or simply finding more peace in daily life.
The ego resists, but true spiritual awakening begins when we finally let go and open to the infinite. This Baba Talk by Maetreyii Ma explores how the surrender of the limited self opens the doorway to infinite being. As the mind releases control and the heart softens into trust, a profound inner peace arises—revealing our true nature beyond thought and form. Rooted in the timeless wisdom of yoga philosophy, this gentle teaching offers a pathway from identification with the ego to the realization of unity with all that is. It's a reminder that spiritual awakening—and the journey of self-realization—is not achieved through striving, but through grace, humility, and letting go. In this talk at an event in Melbourne, Australia, Acharya das explores the concepts of peace, balance, and inner fulfillment in modern society. The Bhagavad Gita's asserts that happiness cannot exist without peace. Most people's experience is not a life of peace. Consumerism, social media, and self-centeredness have contributed to widespread mental health issues and disconnection from our spiritual nature. Over the past century, people's lives have shifted from a needs-based culture to a desires-based one, largely under the influence of devious advertising psychology and now by manipulative algorithms. The result is an absence of real peace and a lack of life balance. True peace and balance will come from understanding our identity as eternal spiritual beings, temporarily residing in physical bodies. This can be experienced through regular meditation practice using spiritual sound as a means to reconnect with our spiritual identity and achieve genuine inner peace.

It's mentioned that in the progression of devotional service—which we heard about earlier, and maybe it was in the class this morning heard in the purport—'ādau śraddhā, tato sādhu-saṅga, atha bhajana-kriyā, tato anartha-nivṛttiḥ syāt, tato niṣṭhā, tataḥ ruciḥ,' etc. This is the progression from śraddhā to prema, and Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura notes that this is anukrama—one step after another. However, sometimes they're anachronistic. Someone may have an experience beyond their adhikāra, and that can be taken in the way Nārada Muni had received some impetus. This is what it feels like. And yet another commentary from the Sixth Canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam—Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura talks about the chanting of the holy name specifically. He says that devotees who chant Hare Kṛṣṇa may experience the fruit of that at different times, for different reasons. He says: a tree, when planted, takes as long as it takes to produce a fruit. You can't hurry it up. It has to grow from a sapling and then put its roots down. Some trees, like almonds, they take seven years before you actually get any fruit from the tree. He said that sometimes Kṛṣṇa withholds the ecstasy of the holy name until the devotee is leaving the world. That's also there in Light of the Bhāgavata, where Prabhupāda, commenting on the sages staying back for Cāturmāsya, says they stay in one room—generally in one place. They don't go out anywhere. They just hear and chant for those four months. And then he says in his commentary that they don't realize the result of their austerity till they leave the room. When you're there, you just think, "Yeah, this is what we're doing." But when they leave, they go, "Oh my God, what did I do?" And then Prabhupāda says: we are in a Cāturmāsya-like existence. He said, we get this body and we have an āyuḥ—a span of life for so long—and it's kind of like a Cāturmāsya. We have this little opportunity in the short human life to perform the austerity, and we may not even realize the full effects of that cultivation until we leave the body. The remnants of food left by a pure Vaiṣṇava are called Mahā-mahā-prasādam. This is completely spiritual and is identical with Lord Viṣṇu. Such remnants are not ordinary. Spiritual masters who are to be considered on the stage of Paramahaṁsa and beyond the jurisdiction of the varṇāśrama institution. The remnants of food left by the spiritual master and similar paramahaṁsas, or pure Vaiṣṇavas, are purifying. When an ordinary person touches such prasādam, his mind is purified, and his mind is raised to the status of a pure brāhmaṇa. The behavior and statements of Advaita Ācārya are meant for the understanding of ordinary people who are unaware of the strength of spiritual values, not knowing the potency of food left by the bona fide spiritual master and pure Vaiṣṇavas.
