17. decembrī Eduarda Smiļģa Teātra muzejā notika Latvijas Mākslas zinātnieku un kuratoru gada balvas pasniegšana. Balvas mērķis ir pievērst uzmanību mākslas pētniecības un kuratora darba nozīmīgumam un veicināt mākslas izpratni plašākā sabiedrībā.  No 2024. gada 1. decembra līdz šī gada 1. decembrim izdotās monogrāfijas, pētījumus un kūrētās izstādes vērtēja žūrija, kuras sastāvu pirmajā reizē veidoja biedrības valdes un padomes locekles – Aiga Dzalbe, Ieva Astahovska, Sniedze Kāle un Silvija Grosa, kuru uz sarunu aicināja Dāvis Eņģelis. Silvija Grosa: Kad pirms trim gadiem dibinājām biedrību, jau bija uzstādījums domāt par savu balvu, jo balva padara redzamu nozari, un tas tagad, man šķiet, ir apliecinājies. Izsludinot šo faktu, sabiedrībā uzreiz ir interese. Kā notiek vērtēšanas darbs? Ir priekšstats, kā strādā žūrija, bet kuratora darbs un monogrāfijas - tā tomēr ir specifika. Uzdevums bija ārkārtīgi grūts, un noteikti neesam visu ideāli atrisinājuši. Mēs noteikti uz to nepretendējam, jo nozare ir ļoti plaša - tur ir gan monogrāfijas, gan pētījumi, gan kūrētās izstādes. Vērtēšana notika, iekšēji sadalot kategorijās un pēc tam atsijājot, tad savstarpēji strīdoties un vienojoties par kopsaucējiem. Tā nonācām līdz skaitlim 11, kas ir 11 izsludinātie pretendenti, bet, protams, tur noteikti varēja būt vēl vairāk, jo mūsu redzeslokā bija daudz lielāks skaits. Kāda ir proporcija starp izstādēm un rakstu darbiem? Proporcija ir par labu izstādēm, bet jānošķir, ka mēs vērtējam tieši kūrētās izstādes, kuratora darbu. Ne visas izstādes, kas notiek, ir ar kuratora roku veidotas, un mēs mēģinājām koncentrēties uz tām, kur jūt kuratora pienesumu - tas ir pētījums vai īpašs kuratoriālais skatījums, - un tās arī nonāca šajā sarakstā. Cik plašs areāls ir aptverts ģeogrāfiski, tā pārsvarā ir Rīga vai parādās arī reģioni? Parādās arī reģioni, piemēram, Daugavpils, Liepāja un pat Viļņas izstāde. Noteikti, ka varētu vēl plašāk, bet pagaidām ir tā, tādam ieskatam. Tas ir pirmais pasākums, un tas noteikti ir tālāk labojams un pilnveidojams. Vai ir taktiski pirms pašas ceremonijas vaicāt, kāds no Jūsu skatupunkta ir bijis 2025. gads mākslas zinātnē Latvijā? Domāju, ka tas bijis ļoti veiksmīgs, jo iznākušas arī vēl citas monogrāfijas, atļaušos atzīmēt, ka arī manis sastādītais rakstu krājums “Konstantīns Pēkšēns un viņa laiks”, bet tas, protams, šeit netiek vērtēts, jo esmu žūrijā. Ir arī jaunpienesumi - Kristīnes Ogles monogrāfija par Purvīša skolnieku Teodoru Paulovicu, un ir Jāņa Kalnača monogrāfija par Jani Šternbergu. Izšķīrāmies par tiem diviem autoriem, kas sarakstā palikuši. Lūdzu, dažus vārdus par statueti! Izsludinājām iespēju pieteikt balvas ideju, bet lielas aktivitātes no kolēģiem nebija. Tad man šķita, ka mums kā mākslas vēsturniekiem būtu piemēroti orientēties uz ļoti plašiem simboliem, un kas gan labāk parāda mūsu nozares daudzpusību un reizē arī komplicētību un dziļumu kā šīs divas ģeometriskās formas - aplis un kvadrāts. Varam atskatīties uz resensanses laiku, uz tā saukto Vitrūvija cilvēku - plašu vēsturisku kontekstu. Abām formām katrai par sevi piemīt dziļa simbolika, turklāt tās ir divas formas, kas it kā simbolizē mākslas vēsturi un šo kuratoriālo praksi. Ar šādu ieceri uzrunāju tēlnieku Bruno Strautiņu, kurš laipni piekrita šo dizainu izveidot un, protams, ir pielicis no sevis - var saskatīt viņa interpretāciju par šīm formām. In this book, Klug explores how the process of decolonization in the 1940s–70s transformed US debates about the role of race in American life, via the analogy of the “internal colony.” The comparison between how race operated in the US and how colonialism functioned in the world was taken up by activists, social scientists, and policymakers alike, and transformed how Black social movements and the US government approached their respective attempts to change American society at the level of race, class, and global politics.

In this latest episode of In Theory, Disha Karnad Jani interviews Stephen Legg about his new book, "Spaces of Anticolonialism: Delhi's Urban Governmentalities" (University of Georgia Press, 2025). In the book, Legg provides a study of Indian anti-colonialism in the decades before Independence that foregrounds the spatially-mediated and bottom-up politics of old and New Delhi's poor, its middle classes, and the prominent anti-colonial figures of the Indian National Congress, including especially the women of the anti-colonial movement. He centers the concept of parrhesia (from the later lectures of Michel Foucault) to arrive at an account of the governmentality of anti-colonialism in the years between mass civil disobedience and the Quit India Movement.
