Recently, I read a book that truly excited and inspired me: “Unlock The Hidden Power Within You: The 7 Keys to Unleashing Your Subconscious Mind for Greater Success” by John Assaraf. This transformative guide dives deep into the powerful, often untapped potential of the subconscious mind, offering practical strategies to unlock a level of success many only dream about. As I turned each page, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and possibility, and I couldn't wait to share the insights I gained from this life-changing book. After finishing the book, I was eager to explore these ideas further, which led to an incredible conversation. As we sat down to chat, something unexpected sparked an interesting discussion—one that danced between sharing ideas and a healthy dose of skepticism. We dove deep into our opinions, thoughts, and even a few surprises along the way. You're in for a thought-provoking conversation, so go ahead—take a listen! Summary This excerpt is the introductory section of a book called "Unlock The Hidden Power Within You." It introduces the concept of "innercising," the process of exercising the brain to strengthen neural pathways for greater success and fulfillment. The book emphasizes that the key to unlocking your potential lies in rewiring your subconscious mind, as it influences your behaviors, emotions, and decisions. It outlines seven powerful neuroscience techniques that can help you rewire your mind for success: self-talk, affirmations, visualizations, mirror neurons, neuroplasticity, mental contrasting, and reframing techniques. One of the book's most important lessons is shifting from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. It also highlights three essential questions to ask yourself to tap into your mind's full potential: What Do I Truly Want? This question is about clearly defining your goals. When you have a clear goal, your brain can work more efficiently to help you achieve it. For example, instead of saying, "I want more money," specify what "more money" means to you. By clearly defining your goal, you are essentially giving your brain a roadmap to success. Why Do I Want It? This taps into the emotional part of your brain, the limbic system. Understanding your "why" gives you a powerful emotional connection to your goal, fueling your drive and determination. For instance, your "why" for wanting to earn $100,000 annually could be to provide a comfortable life for your family or to become financially independent. Am I Willing to Do What It Takes? This question engages the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for executive functions. Achieving goals requires commitment, persistence, and resilience. By asking this question, you mentally prepare yourself for the journey ahead. For example, being willing to do what it takes could mean investing time in learning new skills or seeking advice from experts. By consciously engaging different parts of your brain with these questions, you can align your thoughts, emotions, and actions with your goals.Call to Action:Have you ever wondered how much untapped potential is waiting within your mind? Last we left the Mercs 4 Hire, they had returned to Everlund to seek help from the Harpers in uncovering the origins of the wooden coin. After enlisting the help of Siren's brother, Telemachus, they settled into wait while the spies did their thing. After a few days of downtime, during which Peanut started scratching names off his hit list, Telemachus returned with bad news. The coin was a gambling chip from a casino in Yartar. Surprisingly the Mercs were able to successfully infiltrate the city and do some recon. We now rejoin as they finish preparations for the nights festivities. We have a double-header of sorts on this week's episode of The Race F1 Tech Show - but with a distinctly Aston Martin flavour. First up, host Edd Straw and former F1 technical director Gary Anderson look back on the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, and in particular why Aston Martin suffered with DRS issues. Gary explains what happened to the team and why such a problem is so difficult to solve. He also opines on Alpine's struggles with bouncing and whether the lack of practice running that was dictated by the new weekend format contributed to both this issue and Aston Martin's. Edd then introduces our feature interview with Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack, who many may know comes from an engineering background, unlike so many of his peers. He discusses why his 'unusual' career journey helps him in his current role, before discussing in detail Aston Martin's meticulous plans for growth, including why both new hires and the team's upcoming move into a new factory have to be managed so carefully. And finally, Gary tackles another couple of questions from listeners, including one on fuel-efficient driving styles and another on F1's attempts to become more environmentally friendly. He's the newest member of ‘The Piranha Club' – the nickname for the ruthlessly competitive group of F1 Team Principals. Aston Martin's Mike Krack is not a newcomer to F1, however. A former European go-kart racer, Mike earned his engineering stripes with Sauber in the early 2000s, where he moulded and mentored a young Felipe Massa. He witnessed the supreme strength and skill of Robert Kubica, and steered Sebastian Vettel through his Grand Prix debut at BMW in 2007. Vettel and Krack are now back together at Aston Martin, and Mike has illuminating insight into how the four-time champion has developed as a person and as a racing driver. Mike tells Tom Clarkson about his life leading major manufacturers' racing programs, including the reason he previously walked away from Formula 1. He explains how he's ‘finding his way' as boss of the sport's most ambitious team, charged with fulfilling owner Lawrence Stroll's aims of challenging for the World Championship. Pete and Tup manage to get yet another podcast out the door. Nothing too interesting here, I don't believe, but some things that stick out include: the great Joni Mitchell vs. Uncle Kracker debate, hammers with a nail built right in, and more tattoo crap. Pete delivers eerie impressions of: either Bert or Ernie, Maggie Gyllenhaal, E from Entourage, Buscemi doing an impression of E from Entourage.
Jake Krack is an exceptional fiddler within the old-time tradition. Most often performing with The Bing Brothers, Jake has won multiple awards and fiddling competitions across Appalachia. From early childhood, Jake was mentored by many legendary fiddlers including Melvin Wine. The remarkable relationship between Melvin and Jake is beautifully captured in the children's book Passing the Music Down. Jake was also the subject of the 2018 feature-length documentary Fiddlin'. Jake and The Bing Brothers were the final performance of The Pocahontas County Opera House in March of 2020. This performance was held in conjunction with a screening of Fiddlin'. Jake lives in Marlinton with his wife Katie and daughter Iris. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/story-sessions/support
