When Life Feels Out of Control
When Life Feels Out of Control
Joy is a choice.
A man is battling inner turmoil. His inner turmoil has led to external pain. He's isolated from the people around him. He cries out in agony. Then, Jesus shows up in his community. The man is desperate for freedom, and his encounter with Jesus transforms him. In this message, Scott Savage teaches from Mark 5:1-20. He shares five important expectations we can have about Jesus, especially in the moments when we feel invisible.

At Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Charleston, SC, Rev. Andrew Bekkering continued his mini sermon series on the miracles in Mark.
We've all had something so amazing we wanted to share it with people who matter to us. Maybe it's how to digitally clip coupons at Kroger - or how to take a selfie by just holding up your hands with five fingers - but we know what it's like to have or know something so worthwhile we simply can't keep it to ourselves. One of the more amazing stories from Mark's Gospel is Jesus's encounter with the man possessed by a legion of demons - and what happened to that man as a result. In this message, Brian Hull unpacks what it means to share Jesus - because we've encountered him and his goodness in our life - all because we care about other people.
We who have been redeemed have great power over the enemy. Not because of who we are but because of whose we are. (Note: Pastor Bob records the audio of his sermons with his iPhone. Today, he forgot to turn on the recording function until after the children's sermon. We dubbed the audio of the children's sermon from the video recording of today's service. That's why there is a noticeable difference in the audio quality.) May God bless you as you engage in worship. Please feel free to leave feedback/comments to let us know you joined in worship. "Repent for the Kingdom of God is here" illustrates Jesus' intention for us to change our inner self, our old ways of thinking, to confess our sins so that our lives are in sync with God's purpose. In the story of the demon possessed man, Jesus models this kingdom living. Come to Sunday service and hear the challenge, learn how to go the extra mile, and proclaim that Jesus has come to seek and save the lost!

Jesus has authority over all of Creation, including demons, but spiritual warfare is real, and the battles are not insignificant.
This is the second part of a three part series on Healing Brokenness. This series examines 3 broken people and the effect it had on them and their families. But more importantly, how Jesus dealt with them and how he can deal with us. Last week, it was about a broken child that was possessed by Satan and could not speak. This week Jesus went across the Sea of Galilee and entered a gentile region and met a man that was naked, chained and out of his mind, living in a tomb. No one could help him except Jesus. A transformation occurred in his life so much so that it scared those around him. Jesus took his brokenness and made it beautiful. As we encounter Jesus and become transformed, it can alarm those around us to see the change.

Each person chooses what power they claim in their daily lives. Some look to Jesus while others look to themselves, others, even evil. Everyone needs power to make it through this world, but know that some power sources seek to take from you, rather than build you up. Jesus’ power was misunderstood by many as we see in today’s scripture. How do you understand Jesus’ power today? Sermon Outline @ http://bible.com/events/48786369
In this sermon Pastor Keith explains from the redemption story in Mark chapter 5 that Jesus demonstrates his power and authority over demonic forces by delivering those taken captive and setting them free to live out their God-given purpose.
This week Pastor Mark discusses Jesus' healing of the demon possessed man, the demons going into a herd of swine, and people's reaction to the event.
