Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. — Psalm 126:5 The journey of life isn't always easy. We face struggles, setbacks, and moments where it feels like our efforts are in vain. But the beautiful truth of Psalm 126:5 is that God does not waste our pain. The tears we shed are never in vain, for they are like seeds being sown for a harvest of joy. I remember a time when I was going through a season of difficulty. It felt like everything was falling apart, and I couldn't see how any good could come from it. Yet, looking back, I realize that those moments of struggle were the very things that cultivated a deeper joy in me. God used the pain to refine me, teach me, and ultimately bring me to a place of greater peace and happiness. We are promised that, even in our sorrow, God will bring forth joy. The joy doesn't always come immediately, and at times we have to endure some hard moments. But when the harvest comes, it's sweeter than we could have imagined. It's a joy that only God can bring—a joy that comes from knowing that he is with us through it all. As we walk through life, let's remember that the joy that follows the tears is a new joy. It's a joy that comes from trusting God with our struggles and waiting patiently for his work to be completed in us.  God, thank you for the promise of joy in our life's journey. Help me to trust you through the difficult times and to hold on to the hope that we will be filled with joy in you. Amen.

In this message, the speaker explores the expansion of the early church from 30 AD to 44 AD, tracking the gospel's journey from Jerusalem to Antioch and beyond. He highlights the stark contrast between the faithfulness of early believers and the opposition of political leaders, specifically focusing on the persecution under King Herod Agrippa I. The sermon emphasizes that despite the tragic execution of the apostle James and the arrest of Peter, the church's commitment to prayer and generosity remained unshaken.Subscribe to AfterWords on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Download a copy of the Exodus JournalVisit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.comSubscribe to AfterWords on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.Visit us online: rivchurch.comFollow us on InstagramSend us feedback: podcast@rivchurch.com

Welcome to Christ Community's Online Service! As we near the end of Advent, this message explores a different kind of Christmas joy—the slow, costly, faithful joy of the Magi. From Matthew 2, we see a joy that doesn't arrive all at once but unfolds over time through movement, waiting, and trust. This sermon is for those still walking, still wondering, and still hoping—discovering that true joy is often formed along the journey toward Jesus, not just at the destination. For prayer and to stay connected, please visit: https://www.cccgreeley.org For Giving: https://www.cccgreeley.org/give/ Discussion guide: https://cccgreeley.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/2025-12-20-21-Group-Discussion-Questions.pdf We Can't Wait to Celebrate Christmas Eve With You! https://mailchi.mp/cccgreeley/weekly-digital-newsletter-16048484 Christ Community Church – Greeley, CO

When Lia Belardo moved from New York to Philadelphia in 2009, she could barely run a mile and was navigating endometriosis and PCOS while working a stressful finance job. Today, she has completed seven Ironmans, 20 half Ironmans, 25 marathons, 10 ultramarathons, and has built community everywhere she goes, from Philly run crews to a Meatless Monday vegan run club. In this episode, Lia unpacks how a “longest mile” with her dog, a cheap entry-level bike, and a late-night learn-to-swim class at a women's tri club turned her into the kind of athlete who signs up for a 70.3 in a taxi, then figures the rest out.   In this conversation, Lia shares the ups, downs, and surprises of building a triathlon life from scratch, including learning to swim in adulthood, navigating early race day nerves, and embracing her identity as a proud Athena athlete. She offers real talk about doing triathlon on a budget, from janky bikes to late-night pool sessions to buying only what you truly need. Together, she and Michanda explore the importance of community support, the power of inclusivity in the Athena category, and the freedom that comes when athletes stop trying to “look the part” and simply show up as themselves.   Lia also reflects on the beautiful and sometimes messy growth that happens when you follow curiosity, honor your body, and trust the journey more than the results. She shares her dream of connecting with new communities in Utah, her heart for donating medals to children with cancer, and her hope for a sport where every athlete sees themselves reflected on the start line. This is a joyful and encouraging episode for anyone who has ever wondered if they belong in triathlon. You do. And Lia's story proves you already have enough to begin.   Let's Tri This   Remember to leave a review, share it with your friends, and follow Tri Beginner's luck on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.  And send any questions or feedback you have to  tblpodbiz@tribeginnersluck.com.

In this episode, we explore Philippians 2 and what it really means to find joy in the middle of life's ups and downs. Joy isn't the result of perfect circumstances — it's the result of choosing gratitude, walking in humility, and shifting the focus off ourselves. We talk about how the “me-monster” mindset robs us of joy, why unity matters, and how serving others opens the door to a deeper, lasting joy that circumstances can't shake. Through Jesus' example of humility and sacrifice, we learn how to shine with joy in a world that desperately needs it. If you're feeling stretched, tired, or joy-empty, this message will remind you where true joy is found and how to live it out every day.

Of all the gifts God gives His children, joy is perhaps the one closest to heaven on earthWho isn't aware just how wonderful it feels to experience true joy? It is as if the Lord has freed a prisoner. When American POWs returned from captivity in Vietnam, the looks on their faces as they emerged from the planes carrying them to freedom…well, no one will ever forget that!Psalm 16:9 says, “Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure.”Scripture tells us that we don't escape trouble in this life, but that for the believer, eternal joy waits for us, and the Holy Spirit gives us joy in our daily walk in the here and now. It's also ours for the taking—to reach up and pick this fruit that feeds our souls. Sometimes simply making the choice to embrace a joyful spirit is the key to having a blessed day.Let's pray.Lord, you did not create us to be defeated or to be sad. Read along with our following scripture: Philippians 4:10-13 True joy is found in contentment, not circumstances. When we rely on Christ's strength, we learn to be content at every turn. In this thought-provoking episode, we dive deep into the pursuit of joy and contentment in our lives. Drawing from a fascinating story about a researcher and a group of tribal villagers, we explore the concept of the highest achievement of human well-being—contentment. Join us as we discuss two primary strategies people use to seek joy: the "more" strategy, which focuses on acquiring more possessions, and the "enough" strategy, which emphasizes recognizing and appreciating what we already have. We reflect on the wisdom of the Apostle Paul, who, despite facing immense challenges, learned the secret to being content in any situation. Discover how to shift your mindset from seeking happiness through external circumstances to finding joy in your relationship with Jesus. We also share practical tips on how to cultivate contentment through mindfulness and intentional thinking. Whether you're struggling with discontentment or simply seeking a deeper understanding of joy, this episode offers valuable insights and encouragement for your journey. Tune in and learn how to embrace the truth that joy is a "who," not a "what." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We are an alternative to church as usual.
