Mullen's mentorship. He shares his pivotal moment at 11, choosing America's Got Talent over a Belize trip, becoming a finalist and facing the lure of secular success.Despite giving glory to God on the show, he admits to running from his calling, wanting freedom to chase his own desires while still loving Jesus.[05:41] God Redeems Quintavius's Childhood ExperiencesQuintavius reveals how international fame from America's Got Talent was misused for self-interest, a pattern God is now redeeming for His glory.[5:41] Quintavious: “After I fully submitted to Him, got saved, filled the Holy Ghost again, He now has allowed me to redeem that he is redeemed again. Now I was on the national, international stage, and I am making his name great, and it's for the purpose of God.”He opens up about misunderstood spiritual gifts—like seeing visions—initially confusing them for demonic or medium-like experiences due to lack of guidance.A turning point came when he surrendered fully to Christ, allowing God to refine these gifts for prophetic ministry and deliverance of others.Reagan connects this to listeners, noting how God's protection kept Quintavius from darker paths, now using his platform to win souls.[20:50] Demonic Torment During Early YearsQuintavius claims to have had chilling encounters with demons in elementary and middle school, like beds shaking and hearing hoof-like footsteps, fueling a spirit of fear. The enemy exploited his ignorance, tormenting him with nightmares and voices urging harm, aiming to silence his future calling.Quintavius credits the Holy Spirit for guiding him to fast and pray—sometimes for weeks—leading to physical deliverance, like vomiting out demonic influences. He mentions influential figures like Alexander Pagani and his pastor Shelley Morrison, whose teachings and hugs broke spiritual chains.Dreams once filled with torment became tools of deliverance as he rejected demonic offers in sleep, waking up free by God's power.[32:54] Bringing His Spiritual Gifts to the World StageQuintavius reluctantly joined American Idol after receiving persistent invitations. He sang “Alabaster Box” for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. He felt the song was a powerful movement—Katy cried, Lionel claimed he felt God's presence, and Luke likened it to a baptism—shifting the show's atmosphere.Behind the scenes, revival broke out: crew members and contestants got saved, atheists turned to Christ, and the theme changed from gladiators to classmates.[37:38] Quintavious: “They literally started calling it revival. It was such a revival of the love of God and of the power of the Holy Ghost that people want to get more.”Quintavious' performances are on his Instagram, demonstrating how his worship visibly carried the Holy Spirit to impact thousands.[42:28] God's Permission, or God's Plan?Quintavius reflects on a misstep during American Idol; he chose a song God permitted but didn't ordain, learning that lawful actions aren't always in line with God's wishes.Despite the permission, not following God's exact plan halted his progression. He learned to prioritize precise obedience over rationalized choices.[49:19] Reagan: “God's opening doors, well, why? Because you've been faithful, you've screwed up. He's the God of second chances.”He shares how God still redeemed this, as a viral “12 Days of Christmas” video in December 2024 brought greater reach than the show, saving lives and opening doors.[52:53] Staying Faithful to God's Call TodayQuintavius stresses prayer, fasting, and staying rooted in Scripture to balance his dual presence in gospel and secular spheres, keeping his focus on God's assignment. He credits his local church community for grounding him, offering safety in counsel and keeping pride at bay as his influence grows.[53:31] Quintavious: “I stay faithful to my church community. Having a community around you is important, you know, the multitude of counsel, there is safety.”His mission bridges worlds, bringing salvation to both gospel artists who don't live it and secular folks unaware of Jesus, acting as a “secret agent” for the Kingdom.Quintavius envisions God deepening his intimacy with the Spirit and expanding his ministry globally, not just in industry fame but in soul-winning across nations. He sees himself growing as a leader in the body of Christ, shaped by ongoing lessons in manhood and stewardship of his gifts. His local church remains vital, providing covering and training—like casting out demons in outreach—keeping him humble and accountable.[1:00:49] Encouraging the LonelyQuintavius encourages trusting God over self, rejecting the lie of isolation. God has a community for everyone. He advises praying for revelation of that community, warning against the enemy's tactic to isolate and confuse through lack of guidance. The body of Christ is collective, not solitary, and finding a church or group stirs gifts and offers support.Reagan prays for Quintavius, asking for strategic discernment, protection, and boldness to spread the gospel worldwide through his voice.Quintavius requests prayer to steward his transition well, avoiding procrastination and aligning with God's will as his influence rises.About QuintaviousQuintavius Johnson is a worship and gospel singer, prophetic minister, and dynamic voice for God's Kingdom, celebrated for his powerful testimony and anointed performances. The story of Jesus healing at the Pool of Bethesda is more than just a physical miracle—it's a picture of spiritual transformation. Just as the man had been waiting for years by the pool, stuck in his condition, many of us find ourselves trapped in cycles of waiting, hoping for change but unsure of how to step into healing. Jesus doesn't just restore bodies; He calls us to get up, pick up our past, and walk forward in faith, leaving behind the things that once held us back and stepping into the new life He offers.

INTRODUCTION“There was an occasion when the army of Alexander the Great was engaged in a very serious battle, and in the course of the battle, one of the soldiers fled the scene. He was a coward. After the battle, the coward was apprehended and brought to Alexander's tent. As the man stood trembling before his general, Alexander looked at him and said, “Why did you run?” The soldier said, “I was afraid.” Alexander said: “So I see. What is your name?” The soldier mumbled his answer so that Alexander couldn't hear him, so the great warrior said: “Speak up. What is your name?” The young soldier looked at him and said, “My name is Alexander.” Alexander the Great replied, “Either change your behavior or change your name.”CONTEXTJohn moves forward in chapters 5-10 highlighting the escalating conflict between Jesus and the Jewish leadership. John will use Jesus' encounters with others to escalate and teach/reveal who he is leading the Jewish leaders to grow more insistent on his execution for blashemy. They are convinced that he is claiming to be another god equal to God the Father and they cannot rest until he is dealt with. For he is leading the people astray. These encounters will include several "I am" statements designed to reveal who Jesus really is. It's at this point that I'd like to share with you how someone described Jesus. After all, many of us struggle with following Jesus because we also are unclear about who healed us. Lesslie Newbigin, British pastor and missionary from the past wrote:"The one of whom we are reading is the one who was finally rejected with unique unanimity by the representatives of all the forces that control human behavior (cf. I Cor. 2:8), was subjected to that death which implied the curse of God as well as of men, was raised to new life, and became the author of new life for all who believed. It is this man whose identity is being defined in these passages." -Lesslie NewbiginHe says that we cannot understand what John is doing and writing without remembering that this is all about believing that Jesus is the Messiah, the king of kings, the Son of man and the son of God and that by believing have life in his name who died for our sins and was raised to prove his atoning sacrifice for us works in his Father's eyes. We are forgiven because of him!SERMON Bottom line: To find healing and salvation, we must 1) be willing to change, 2) find hope to change, and 3) surrender to change.According to Pastor Mark Johnston, Jesus' question, and the impact it makes, raises at least four major issues for this man and for all people.WANT TO CHANGE? The truth about our life--do we even want to change?HELPLESS TO CHANGE. The fact of our own helplessness--can we even change without outside help?SIN KEEPS US FROM CHANGE. The cause of all our trouble--do we realize what causes our sickness is sin? (Generally or specifically)HOPE FOR CHANGE IS FOUND IN JESUS. The hope that is found in Jesus--Healing and salvation are made possible by Jesus sovereignly initiating compassionately.CONCLUSIONBottom line: To find healing and salvation, we must 1) be willing to change, 2) find hope to change, and 3) surrender to change.Do I want to get well even if it means change?Do I acknowledge that I cannot change myself?Do I realize that the reason I cannot change on my own is sin?Am I ready and willing to surrender to Jesus so that I can change? What about you?Peter puts it all in perspective in his first sermon:““Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”” Acts 2:36-39 NIVInvitationHow do we respond? You don't have to get too specific to give him praise.Lord's Supper, 1 Cor 11:23-26 is good passage. Also, say something like, "Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again." (past, present, and future)PrayNOTES"This reality should motivate us to labor with all our might to make Jesus Christ and his gospel known and loved throughout the world. Augustine wrote this beautiful reflection about Jesus Christ:You are ever active, yet always at rest. You gather all things to yourself, though you suffer no need. ... You welcome those who come to you, though you never lost them. You release us from our debts, but you lose nothing thereby. You are my God, my Life, my holy Delight, but is this enough to say of you? Can any man say enough when he speaks of you? Yet woe betide those who are silent about you! (Confessions [IX 1], 181)May we, by the grace of God, never be silent." -Matt Carter"I'll Do It Later (v. 35):Jesus asks the disciples a pointed question: "Don't you say, 'There are still four more months, and then comes the harvest'?" (v. 35). He's saying, "Do you guys think you need to wait before reaping the fruit of the gospel? Are you hoping it will come later? You're wrong; look at the Samaritans coming right now. What are you waiting for? The time is now!" Jesus is driving the urgency of the gospel home to the hearts of his disciples. We don't wait for a different time or a better time; the harvest is now. Go, do the work of sharing the gospel right now. Charles Spurgeon, preaching on this passage, challenged his congregation:Some of you good people, who do nothing except go to public meetings, the Bible readings, and prophetic conferences, and other forms of spiritual [indulgence], would be a good deal better Christians if you would look after the poor and needy around you. If you would just tuck up your sleeves for work, and go and tell the gospel to dying men, you would find your spiritual health mightily restored, for very much of the sickness of Christians comes through their having nothing to do. All feeding and no working gives men spiritual indigestion. Be idle, careless, with nothing to live for, nothing to care for, no sinner to pray for, no backslider to lead back to the cross, no trembler to encourage, no little child to tell of a Savior, no grey-headed man to enlighten in the things of God, no object, in fact, to live for; and who wonders if you begin to groan, and to murmur, and to look within, until you are ready to die of despair? Jesus' miracles, showing that miracles are not just about physical healing but about restoring faith and revealing God's greater purpose. This moment builds on previous signs, leading to deeper belief in Jesus as the source of life. The nobleman's desperate plea for his son's life mirrors our own need for healing and hope, reminding us that hope leads to faith even when circumstances seem hopeless. Ultimately, the miracle points beyond itself—to God's desire to heal not only individuals, but entire families, communities, and a broken world. Just as God gave His Son to bring eternal life, He uses moments of healing to invite us into belief.

Read OnlineHe put his finger into the man's ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, “Ephphatha!”—that is, “Be opened!”—And immediately the man's ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. Mark 7:33–35One interesting point in this story is that the people who brought this deaf and mute man to Jesus begged Him to “lay his hand on him” so as to heal him. But what did Jesus do? Instead, He took the man away from the crowd, put His divine finger into the man's ears, touched the man's tongue with His own sacred saliva and the man was cured. At first, the act of putting your finger into someone else's ear and touching their tongue with your own saliva may seem repulsive. Normally it would be. To understand these two actions, we must understand the symbolism. The image of a finger is used a number of times in the Scriptures to refer to God's power. In the Book of Exodus after the plague of the gnats, Pharaoh's magicians said that this was clearly done “by the finger of God” (Exodus 8:19). On the mountain when Moses received the Ten Commandments we know that it was also God's finger that wrote them (Exodus 31:18). In the book of Daniel, a finger appeared and wrote a prophetic message on a wall (Daniel 5:5). In the New Testament, Jesus cast out a demon “by the finger of God” (Luke 11:20) and in today's Gospel He healed this man's hearing with His finger. The “finger of God” is understood as the power of God and an action of the Holy Spirit. Thus, by using His sacred finger to heal, Jesus was symbolically revealing that He fully exercised the power of God and acted in perfect union with the Holy Spirit and the Father. The image of saliva is also interesting. Perhaps you have noticed that when an animal has a wound it often licks that wound. This is a natural instinct but also one that makes sense. Saliva has a certain medicinal power of healing. It contains antibacterial agents. Therefore, since normal saliva can help heal a wound, Jesus's saliva is able to heal in a supernatural way. Recall, also, that Jesus healed a blind man by spitting on the ground and then smearing the mud on his eyes (John 9:6).Did Jesus need to use His finger and His saliva to heal this man? Certainly not. He could have done it with a mere thought. But He chose to use His body as an instrument of His healing power. Doing so reveals to us that Jesus' humanity became the source of unity between God and man. Even His finger and His saliva unite us to God. Everything about the Son of God in His human form dispensed grace, healing and mercy. Even that which may, at first, seem most repulsive.Though there is much we can take from this passage, one thing that should not be missed is that if Jesus chose to use His finger and even his saliva to dispense His power, so, also, He desires to continue using the members of His Body to distribute His grace. By Baptism, you are a member of Christ's Body, the Church. You are His hands and feet, His eyes and voice, His heart and finger, and even His saliva. That last thought is very humbling. But if Jesus can use His saliva for healing, He can use you. If we can humbly understand that, then we will be better disposed to become an instrument of His divine mercy to those who need it. God is able to use us NOT because we are worthy of being used. Rather, He can use us because He has chosen to do so, even in our most humble state.Reflect, today, upon the image of Jesus healing this deaf and mute man. If you ever feel as though God cannot use you, call to mind the way in which our Lord worked this miracle. If God can use His finger and His saliva, He certainly can use you, no matter how unworthy or sinful you may be. This miracle shows us that God can use all things for His glory for the simple reason that He is God. Humble yourself and offer yourself to God to use you as He wills. Doing so will give God the opportunity to manifest His almighty power through you.My healing Lord, when You took on human form, You united divinity with humanity. Through Your sacred humanity, You poured forth Your grace and mercy and continue to do so today. Please use me, dear Lord, as an instrument of Your grace. May I always humbly see myself as Your unworthy instrument, whom You choose to use despite my unworthiness. Jesus, I trust in You.Source of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2024 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. Jesus, Healing, and the Kingdom of God andEmbracing the Mystery of Healing (Matthew 10:1-8)After giving the disciples his authority to cast out demons, and to cure every disease and every sickness, Jesus gave them specific instructions on where to take his on-the-road kingdom demonstrations: to the lost sheep of Israel. As the disciples made their way to the lost sheep of Israel, they were instructed to tell those sheep the good news, “The kingdom of heaven has come near.” In other words, tell them there's a new sheriff in town. The Romans may think they are in charge. They aren't. God is. In fact, God is ruling, and these healings are signs of his glorious reign. We aren't told how show and tell went for all of the twelve disciples, but in Luke's Gospel the seventy-two disciples who were sent out returned with joy. It's safe to assume the twelve also batted a thousand. The phrase “kingdom of heaven” is found thirty-one times in Matthew's Gospel. The phrase “kingdom of God” is found five times in Matthew's Gospel. Biblical scholars believe the two phrases are interchangeable. To unlock some of the mystery of the kingdom, Jesus used parables to teach us what it looks like. The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, yeast, a treasure hidden in a field, a merchant in search of fine pearls, and a net that catches every kind of fish. The kingdom is something we seek, is near, and can be entered. I hope to see you this Sunday as we learn more about Jesus, healing, the Kingdom of God and embracing the mystery of healing. Grace and Peace,Stephen

What role - if any - should physical healing have in Christian life today? Using Scripture and personal testimony, our hosts explain why we should press in for physical healing in prayer: to manifest the compassion of Jesus and demonstrate the power of the Gospel to a world mired in skepticism and unbelief. Supernatural healing makes the Kingdom tangible! Additionally, our hosts address how an expectation for healing fits with a balanced theology of redemptive suffering.
