A new MP3 sermon from Redeemer Free Reformed Church is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: A Demon Possessed Man Healed Speaker: Pastor Kenneth Hutton Broadcaster: Redeemer Free Reformed Church Event: Sunday Service Date: 7/21/2024 Bible: Mark 5:1-20 Length: 33 min.
For the past few months, we've been in a series called The Main Attraction, exploring how Jesus is central in every story within the book of Mark. Last week, our pastor emeritus Mike Benson delivered a powerful message about Jesus being with us in the storm. If you missed it, you can catch up on our website or YouTube channel or wherever Podcasts are played. This week, we delve into Mark 5:1-20, the gripping story of a man possessed by a legion of demons. Stephanie Sampson, our director of D-Track 201 and leader of the Next Steps Center, reads the scripture and prays over the service, setting the stage for an impactful message. We examine the man's dire situation, tormented by demons and living among the tombs, and how Jesus' compassion and power bring about a miraculous transformation. This story highlights Jesus' ability to see value where others see none, demonstrating His power over all spirits and His infinite compassion. We then explore the different responses to Jesus' miracle, contrasting the crowd's fear and rejection with the transformed man's desire to follow Jesus and spread the good news. We are reminded of our mission to share our own transformation stories and live out the Great Commission. Join us as we reflect on how Jesus' power can break any chain and transform any life, encouraging us to share His love and message with the world.

02/25/24 The unholy trinity of The Flesh, The Enemy, and The World conspire against the Kingdom of God to keep us in bondage.
Three worlds meet in this strange story: the underworld of evil spirits, the visible world of human experience, and the upper world of divine control. First, a man comes to Jesus in a shocking condition. Next, Jesus agrees to a surprising cure. Then the townspeople come to Jesus with a strange request. Finally, Jesus gives the man an unexpected answer. If your life is a mess, ask Jesus to deliver you. He will not turn you away.

Luke 8:26-39 New International Version (NIV) Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man 26 They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes,[a] which is across the lake from Galilee. 27 When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don't torture me!” 29 For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places. 30 Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him. 31 And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss. 32 A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission. 33 When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned. 34 When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, 35 and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus' feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 36 Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured. 37 Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left. 38 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.

We seek to understand Your Word, and guard it within our hearts so that it will grow and flourish. We nurture it and protect it, not allowing our minds to dwell on anything that disagrees with what Your Word says. We hear Your Word, and faith comes. And it is through faith that we receive the promises and everything that you have provided for us. When something comes against us, we don't allow fear to enter. We just rest on Your Word, knowing that if You spoke it, it is true. Amen ---- We are reading the entire Bible this year in the order the events actually occured chronologically. Even the demons knew who Jesus was. In this story, Jesus name is revealed, but not by man, the demon refers to Jesus as “Son of the Most High God.” We have nothing to fear from the enemy when we realize that enemy cowers under the power and authority of Jesus' name. When we have …

Main Idea: Potential Found In Pain. Demon Possessed Man. Trauma can easily make a person feel lost in the world. It's easy to start pushing away everyone around you as you try to push down the hurtful experience. The more and more we try to avoid it, the more and more our lives reflect that something is wrong. In today's message, we're going to look at a person who had plenty of demons from his past and we're going to unpack how he found freedom and healing, as well as look how Jesus saw potential in him even though he was lost. The reason this message is important is because many people who are looking for healing think that the healing is the end goal. But the better ending is seeing how God is able to use you to make a difference in others by redeeming your pain. (Mark 5:1-20) 1. Trapped in my own prison. 2. Scared of freedom. 3. Unrealized potential. -- To learn more or donate, visit gravetopchurch.com Follow us on Instagram Facebook by searching @gravetopchurch

Pastor Josh Yerton teaches about the authority that Jesus demonstrates and shows over evil and darkness through the story of the demon-possessed man. Authority. We don't like that word much. But when Jesus shows up on the scene, it's one of the first things people notice about Him: He speaks and lives as One who has authority. Join us as we continue exploring Mark's gospel, discovering the Jesus who has authority, and wrestling with what authority He has in our lives.

Hello everyone, today we get to see Jesus's power over demons and how he controls them. If you are scared just say Jesus's name and see what happens. Thank you, and God bless.
This last Sunday we were fortunate enough to hear from one of our deacons, Justin Adsit. Justin gave a teaching on Luke 8v26-39 as a continuation of our Luke Series. This story illustrates one of the most radical stories of the authority of Jesus to heal, save, and deliver. We learn that when Jesus shows up, hopeless situations shift. Expanding heaven on earth can get messy, and we have to lay down our right to things that we can understand. It's worth it. We don't worship the miracles, but if we just see them as signs, we might be missing the point. They are signs, but they are also wonders that participate in the reality of heaven on earth now. Revival is more personal than you think. Consider your response to Jesus. Is His activity in your life just a sign of what it will be one day, or is it a wonder that you can participate in with Him now?
