Sunday, October 12, 2025 – Secretary/Treasurer Pastor Brooks McElihenny is with us at Center Point to help us understand the “Perspectives of a Transition.” All churches go through times and seasons of transition when pastors sense a change in their assignment. During periods of change and transition, many people mistakenly believe that God is doing something to them, but instead He is doing something for them. Seasons of pastor transition are one of these times. Pastor Brooks emphasizes that the perspective you choose is crucial to the success of any transition. He encourages us to focus more on the message the pastor delivers than on the pastor himself. Every pastor has a biblical mandate (1 Timothy 3:1-7) to preach and live out the message they proclaim; even though they are not perfect individuals, they are called to be above reproach. Join us in worship and study as we dive into the Word of God.

Do you know God’s divine design for church leadership and why it is important? In 1 Timothy 3:1-7, the Apostle Paul highlights the qualities God develops in overseers of His local churches. As go the leaders, so go the people.
Every election we are subject to the same effusive language: This is the most important election ever. None of this language is new, but it is almost as old as our democracy. Yet, soon, we will face an election in our midst that is even more impactful on your daily lives than that for the presidency: the election of our two more elders. As we approach that date, it is good to provide some common answers to questions as you think about their qualifications.

In this final session, we delve into what it means for a leader to manage his own house well. I discuss order in the home, raising children, and becoming an example to the culture.
God lays out very specific characteristics that are required for church leaders. Today, we address the key areas of anger management, the use of money and simple pride.
The first order of business for selecting leaders in the church or any environment is to discover how they manage themselves. Paul looks at the character before considering natural gifts such as speaking or skill sets. Today, we begin looking at the character traits that determine a great leader.

In part 5 of the series House Rules from 1 Timothy, Alex Kocman addresses the qualifications for pastors and elders outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Paul’s portrait of a godly patriarch gives us a base model for servant leadership in the home and a blueprint for service in the church. We follow the text and survey the elder’s character, home, and witness.

Paul's 2nd "trustworthy saying" to Timothy was about the sort of leadership a church needs to have. Rather than the most gifted, talented, high-capacity leaders by the world's standards, Paul sets out a completely different model for leadership: men of integrity, maturity, and humility, who are already respected and esteemed in their home, their work, their community, and growing in their walk with Christ. Whether you aspire to church leadership or not, it's important to know what God calls for in those who shepherd his flock - those who are being used by God in spite of their sin. Is that you?
Church Members should pray for their church leadership.
