Think about the fact that brethren appointed to the ministry are a huge blessing for the local church. Without them, the life of other leaders and the members of the church would be extremely difficult. Christ manifests His love to His church by sending it leaders who are called, and who, like Him, sacrifice themselves for its good.Thank you for listening to this episode of Declaring His Glory Among the Nations: Daily Scripture Meditations from Pastors Around the World. This show is from The Master's Academy International. If you like this podcast, please subscribe, and leave a review on your favorite podcast app. The Master's Academy International is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission by training indigenous church leaders worldwide. For more information and to learn how to get involved, visit www.tmai.org.► CONNECT WITH US: Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/tmai.orgInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/tmai_orgTwitter - https://twitter.com/tmai_org► SEE OUR RESOURCES: Field Reports - https://www.tmai.org/updateMinistry Updates - https://www.tmai.org/subscribeOnline Giving - https://www.tmai.org/donateDevotional Book - https://www.tmai.org/devotionalFree Book - https://www.tmai.org/freebook► CONTACT US: Address - 13248 Roscoe Blvd, Sun Valley, CA 91352Phone - (818) 909-5570Email - info@tmai.org
On today's program, Virginia megachurch pastor John Blanchard had sexual solicitation charges against him dropped, but protesters are showing up at his church and even the town's police chief thinks the case was mishandled. We'll have details. Also on today's program, Open Doors releases its annual Watch List, which tracks persecution of Christians around the world. This year's conclusions are bleak. We'll explain why. We begin today with a lawsuit involving Bryan College that has been dragging on for more than five years. In Closing: I mention fairly constantly here at MinistryWatch the importance of the Form 990. We use them every day here at MinsitryWatch, and we encourage donors to look at them before they give to a ministry. In the past we've done a webinar entitled “How To Find and Read A Form 990.” This webinar has proven so popular that we've repeated it three or four times over the past two years. And we're going to do it again. It will take place on Feb. 1 at 4 pm ET. Just check the daily MinistryWatch email for a link to the registration page. Honesty is always the best policy. In this episode of The Church Revitalization Podcast, we're not really accusing any church of actively lying. We certainly understand the motivations behind this list of things churches tell themselves. We try to make things sound better than they really are. That doesn't help anyone. It's better to face the facts and do the work of establishing where our church is today, and working towards a better, healthier future. On the night of 9 March 1858, Thomas L. Kane was trudging through a heavy snow storm on his self-appointed mission to End the Utah War. He had convinced Brigham Young and Church Leaders to extend an olive branch to the Army Expedition by offering them large quantities of food and supplies. But now, over 25 feet of snow buried the mountain roads. With temperatures plummeting and winds howling, Kane found himself growing weaker while the storm raged around him. Sensing that he might not survive, the sickly Kane decided to prepare for the worst. He wrote a letter to Alfred Cumming, the incoming Governor of Utah traveling with the Army: "Dear sir: In case of accident I write this memorandum to apprise you that I am the bearer of overtures for peace from Gov. Brigham Young. Letters from Pres. Buchanan throwing light upon my position will be found upon my person. My other letters and effects I beg may be forwarded to my family at Philadelphia." But three days later, Kane, insensible and frosted, would ride into the Army Camp. On this episode, we explore Thomas Kane's awkward meeting with COL Johnston, how the Soldiers of the expedition openly grumbled that Kane should be hanged as a "Mormon spy," how Kane's relationship with Johnston soured to the point that he challenged the Commander to a duel, and how his efforts to convince Johnston to reciprocate Brigham Young's olive branch instead gave the impression that the Latter-day Saints were weak, divided, and vulnerable. We remember how, at the end of his week at the Army Camp, Kane was farther from peace then ever . . . And yet how, when all hope seemed gone, he struck upon an idea that would prove his single greatest contribution to end the Utah War. This episode is Part 2 of a series on 2023 church trends. The discussion here is about trends related to churches' online, digital presence, the sermon, the volunteer crisis in many churches, and ministerial burnout.
Why are most churches not on board with inner healing & deliverance? That's a loaded question, my friends! If a leader of the church is only focusing on GOD and ignoring spiritual warfare... innocent people are left still in bondage. Therefore, leaving hurt and desperate people in a hot mess with no consistent fruits of the Spirit in their lives. That's exactly what Satan wants! Turning a blind eye continues to leave lost souls in the dark. Unfortunately, small and mega church have been doing it for hundreds of years... Rise-up and lead the flock Chrisitan leaders, even if it's the uncomfortable truth! It's Wednesday, January 4th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nigerian Muslims kidnapped 53 Christians, killed one on Christmas Fulani Muslim herdsmen in Nigeria, Africa and other terrorists killed one Christian and kidnapped 53 more on Christmas Day in southern Kaduna state. This comes after militants killed 40 believers in the week leading up to Christmas. One local resident said, “Mass graves litter the community and the countryside. Our people can no longer go to their farms for fear of being gunned down or macheted. Lamentably, the Fulani terrorist attacks have continued unabated as they are heard chanting, ‘Allah Akbar [Allah, the moon god, is greater]' during the killing and destructive expeditions.” Please pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ in Nigeria. GOP conservatives reject Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker The House adjourned without a speaker on Tuesday for the first time in a century after Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California failed in a third straight vote for the gavel, reports Politico.com. It comes after 19 Republican conservatives derailed McCarthy's first and second vote to become Speaker, throwing the party further into chaos on their first day in the majority. Twenty House Republicans threw their support behind GOP Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, who has repeatedly said he does not want the gavel, which sunk McCarthy's bid to take the position on the opening day of Congress. In fact, Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida slammed Kevin McCarthy as he nominated Jim Jordan. Listen. GAETZ: “Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone – [McCarthy] -- who wants it so bad. Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone who has sold shares of themselves for more than a decade to get it. (surprised reaction) Maybe Jim Jordan is the right person for Speaker of the House because he is not beholden to the lobbyists and special interests who have corrupted this place and corrupted this nation under the leadership of both Republicans and Democrats. “Maybe Jim Jordan would be the right person for Speaker of the House because he wouldn't fight us when we try to get a term limits bill on the floor. Maybe Jim Jordan would be the right person because he wouldn't fight us when we try to put a balanced budget on the floor and vote for it. And maybe Jim Jordan is the right person because he would endorse the plan that was built by the Texas delegation to finally secure our border.” McCarthy, who can only afford to lose four votes out of the 222 Republican members, is facing an uphill battle to take over the gavel from Nancy Pelosi. Before the vote, Gaetz said, "Those of us who will not be voting for Kevin McCarthy today take no joy in this discomfort that this moment has brought. But if you want to drain the swamp, you cannot put the biggest alligator in charge of the exercise. I'm a Florida man and I know of what I speak.” New York judge allows people to pack heat at church Last Thursday, a U.S. federal judge temporarily blocked a New York State law that prohibits people from carrying firearms in houses of worship. Pastor Michael Spencer of His Tabernacle Family Church is challenging the law and is represented by First Liberty Institute. Ryan Gardner with First Liberty said, “Singling out houses of worship for total disarmament demonstrates hostility toward religion, leaves them defenseless to rebuff violent attacks, sticks the state's nose into how religious services are conducted, and defies at least two recent Supreme Court rulings against New York.” Sean Feucht vs. Antifa at defaced San Diego church Antifa members defaced City View Church's building in San Diego, California last week. The church was planning on holding a New Year's Eve worship service led by Christian singer Sean Feucht. Police are investigating the attack as a hate crime. The far-left activists spray painted profanities and threats on the church building. According to a video of one tweet, Feucht told ChurchLeaders.com, “The church isn't a building. We're the bride of Christ and in 2023 we're rising up like never before.” FEUCHT: “Rejoice and be glad. So, that's what we're going to do in San Diego tonight. We've been persecuted. All kinds of crazy stuff has been said. This church has been vandalized. But you know what? Tonight, you're going to see a resilient church. This is a prophetic night for what God is doing in 2023. You're going to see a church rising up in boldness, rising up in courage.” Matthew 5:10-12 says, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in Heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Court upholds school's right to restrict bathrooms to biological sex Last Friday, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a Florida school district's anti-transgender policy. The St. Johns County School Board has a bathroom policy that distinguishes students based on biological sex. A female student pretending to be a boy sued the school over the policy. The ruling noted, “The school board's bathroom policy is clearly related to — indeed, is almost a mirror of — its objective of protecting the privacy interests of students to use the bathroom away from the opposite sex and to shield their bodies from the opposite sex in the bathroom.” Wall Street's worst year since 2008 And finally, Wall Street ended its worst year since 2008 last Friday. All three major stock indices reported painful losses. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down nearly 8% for 2022. The S&P 500 dropped nearly 20%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell over 30%. Media and tech companies recorded some of the biggest losses. The Walt Disney Company, Netflix, Comcast and other media groups lost over half a trillion dollars in market value last year. Disney stock, in particular, dropped 45% as the company continues to support sexually perverted lifestyles. Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, January 4th in the year of our Lord 2023. On today's program, two Florida ministry leaders that we first reported on during the summer have been arrested and charged with defrauding taxpayers out of $8-million in Payroll Protection Program funds. And in Virginia, The Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes Christian values, was denied service at a restaurant in Richmond, this month on the basis of the group's position on abortion and same-sex marriage. We'll have the details on both these stories later in the program. We begin today with news that a Presbyterian church in the Chicago area is being investigated for firing an employee when she complained of gender discrimination. I want our listeners to know that this will be our last regular podcast episode of the year. We'll drop one more episode between Christmas and New Year's – it will be an episode that highlights the top 10 stories of the year. So, since this is our last regular episode, I wanted to say how grateful we are to those of you who are regular listeners to the podcast. We have nearly doubled our listenership in the past year and given all the podcast options out there, I want you to know that I'm honored that you consider this podcast worth your time each week. Who should be on the leadership team of a church? In our experience, the leadership team of most churches is comprised of the elders--and only the elders. New Testament elders are responsible for the spiritual oversight of their church. That's biblical. But, why must they be the ones or the only ones who are responsible for setting the direction and making day-to-day decisions of the church? Why, for example, shouldn't a church's minister or ministers have a seat on that important leadership team? In this episode, Kerry and Becky reflect on the composition of THE leadership team in a church.
Nearly since its founding, leaders of the LDS Church have excommunicated members for wrongdoing. In earlier times, such punishments might have lasted only weeks. Over the course of succeeding decades, this practice became more severe, constituting a wrenching removal from the community. Gaining readmittance often required intense penance and evidence of significant change stretching over a prolonged period of time. Sometimes this process even involved the leaders' colleagues. Recently a listener wrote in to ask what is wrong with DEI training. After all, she said, her black friend was the DEI director at her work and thinks it's wonderful. DEI, like CRT, SEL and CSE (a quick internet search will reveal what these woke acronyms stand for) are all part of the cultural Marxism that we are being forced to serve up with our Thanksgiving dinners this year. Hint: they do not mean what most of us thought they would mean. Definitions have changed in the woke world of ever-changing standards and absurdity. Good news, though! We can fight this and win with one word: TRUTH. SHOW NOTES --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/heidistjohn/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/heidistjohn/support
