Do you know what the biggest killer of a dream is? Self doubt. Years ago, it was a big aha moment for me to realize that the reason I wasn't living the life I wanted to be living, the reason I was floating along, surviving in a puddle of stress, was because of what was going on between my two ears. Because of my thoughts about myself and what was possible for me. Oh geez. What we think about ourselves matters. Confidence is underrated. It is the fuel that our dreams are made of. I am here, 10 years after that aha, with this podcast series. To share with you simple tips (that you can actually start today) that build your confidence. That give you the power to live a life you don't even yet believe is possible for you. Let me help. You matter to me. This is the final in our powerful money mindset series. If you've missed any of the past 3 episodes, go back to listen as I've heard it's some of the most helpful work I've provided. Digging into how we think about money is empowering and freeing. How we think about money says a lot about how we think about ourselves. We often don't stop to investigate our thoughts about money because we view them as facts. This is often compounded by our surroundings as our thoughts and beliefs are usually echoed by those around us and are lessons we learned growing up. That's okay. Any day is a new day to look at something in a new way. To drop any judgment of yourself or others and choose to learn a bit more. Why? Because you'll feel better when you know which money personality you align most with. This podcast tells you that while also giving you tools to begin your healing. Let's dig in warriors! I promise to be gentle. How do you feel when you think about money? How do you want to feel when you think about money? The tools are here. I am so excited for us! Why? Because on the podcast this week, Denise and I are talking about money. Why does talking about money excite me when it used to nauseate me? Because I've changed my money mindset. And Denise got me started on that journey!! Listen in as I want to bring you along on this journey. The more of us who make money, the more influence we have. And I feel confident in saying, that if you are a LYLS listener, your influence is one I want more of in this world. The truth of the matter is, the more money we have, the more influence we have. The more money we have, the more freedom we have to do what we are here on this earth to do. The more money we have, the more we can support causes that matter to us. I'm ready for different people to have influence. I'm ready for some change. One of her mantras: Make more money, Change the world. Let's go warriors. It seems easier to blame. Blaming others feels justified. Blaming someone or something for what's happening in your life seems easier. Yet... it doesn't feel better. Blaming others for why we feel how we feel or why our life is as it is leads us to feeling out of control and anxious. It leads us to trying to control things outside of our influence: other people and their actions.. Two simple things to feel more in control today. I'm in, are you? I bring back a favorite podcast guest this week to tackle fear, worry, and life. Yes warriors, we dig into it all. We dig into how fear and anxiety affect our wellness and mental health. We look at how our desire to control what we can't adds stress to our systems. impacts our days and influences our family life. Don't worry though. As two women who have dedicated our lives to helping women, we don't merely point out what's wrong and leave you there. We give you ideas and tools for how to shift out of fear, self doubt, and perfectionism. We share experiences from our own lives and our current experiences with quarantine and covid19, to share what's been working (and what hasn't). Four years ago, a man halfway around the world wrote a simple comment on an online review that changed both of our lives. Today we tell the story. Please note, it is a story that involves big issues: alcoholism, sexual abuse, physical abuse, parental neglect, financial hardship, and childhood trauma. It is also a story that involves hope, resiliency, new beginnings, and is a testament to our ability as humans to continue to reach, evolve and remake ourselves, regardless of what our past holds. My special guest today is Paul Pettit, Certified Reiki, Reflexboloy, Life Coach, and my husband. I am beyond honored to be able to share this man and our life experiences with you all. Relationships are a necessary piece of our human existence. From the moment we are born, we strive to connect and attach with the other beings in our lives. In order to have deep connected relationships we get to have deep connected conversations with those we're in relationship with. In thriving relationships, you’ll have plenty of opportunities for deep or difficult conversations and this is a good thing. Expect it as that means you’re growing, striving, and moving into that next great level. When a topic comes up for discussion, instead of resisting it or putting it of, follow these 5 steps to strengthen the connection in your important relationships and have GREAT conversations! Why do we expect kids to do things we don't or can't do? In the same way that I can not expect my kids to have control of their phone usage if I don't have control of my phone usage. I can't expect my kids to process their emotions if I can't process mine. In the same way that I can't expect my kids to choose food that is healthy for their bodies if I don't choose healthy foods for my body. I can not teach my kids how to regulate their emotions if I don't know how to regulate mine. In order for our kids to be able to process their emotions from a strong, empowered place, we parents have to know how to do that. Yet whoa, if you’re anything like me, I did not know how to manage my own emotions in effective, healthy ways. I certainly knew how to manage my emotions in ineffective, unhealthy ways: over eating, drinking, blaming others, procrastinating, etc. But how to process them in helpful ways? Enter this podcast! Listen in because it's actually quite simple. 3 Steps. Let's go. Life is meant to be lived fully and that means we get to learn how to feel all the emotions. Listen in because this week I interview a woman who has made it her life purpose to improve women's lives. Uh hello, what's better than that? She is the founder and CEO of The Mom Complex, the author of a self empowerment book, and has been featured by The Today Show, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, and now the Love Your Life Show! Her company works with places such as Walmart, Johnson & Johnson, and Unilever to help develop better products and services for mothers. Her personal empowerment book, Slay Like a Mother, helps women destroy what’s holding them back so they can live the life they want. She regularly writes about the topic of modern motherhood for Working Mother magazine and on the Slay Like a Mother platform. Katherine's journey is one you will be able to relate to on some level, whether you're a mom or not. We are all human and living in society these days means we may feel any of the following: feelings of self doubt, that we're not enough, that our worth depends on what others think of us and complete and total overwhelm. Join us as we discuss it all, including: -THE MASK YOU'RE WEARING. The one you hide behind when you say everything is "just fine" when it's not. YOUR UNREALISTICALLY HIGH EXPECTATIONS: Where they come from and how to lower them to feel more peace. -BATTLES YOU WANT TO WIN AND THOSE YOU DON'T -THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STRUGGLING AND SUFFERING. There is no other relationship that affects your wellness more than the relationship you have with yourself. If you don’t like yourself, you’re less likely to feed yourself food that is helpful for your body. If you don’t value yourself, you’re less likely to carve out time to do the things that bring you joy. If you don’t think you’re worthy, you won’t make time for the healing sleep that you so need. If you put everyone else’s needs in front of your own, you won’t make time to move your body and exercise. Why not work a bit on your relationship with yourself? Chances are, you’ve worked on your relationship with other people in your life: your spouse, your kids, your parents…..Why not pour some of that attention on yourself and your relationship with yourself? I promise you that the work you do will exponentially affect your life for the better. The more you know about yourself, your patterns, your triggers, and the way you show up in this world, the better you’ll be able to craft a life you love. Knowledge truly is power dear warrior and in this episode I give you two things that, if done, are guaranteed to help you improve your most important relationship. Christy helps women open up to the possibility of having it all. As she says in her book The Art of Having it All: Every woman can have it all as she defines it, in this and in each evolving moment in her life. This message may challenge your notions of what you believe to be possible for you and your life....the intention of this book is to upend these misconceptions and to show all women that not only is it possible to have it all, but to settle for anything less is to deprive ourselves of the exhilaration joy, expansion, and freedom of becoming all that we are capable of being. I have the best job in the world. I get to see people’s best selves. It's like I have a superpower. Everywhere I look, I see people’s potential. When I work with people, it’s almost as if I’m working with 2 people: their current self and their future best self. I see what’s possible for them. I can see the joy, freedom, and ease that’s possible in their future. Here's what I can't do: I can’t make that future self a reality for them. I can't force them to think certain things. I can’t force them to take certain actions. As a coach, I can have all the knowledge, share all the fancy tools, and be full of amazing encouragement. Yet if clients don’t believe in my future vision for them, it will never happen for them. If they don't believe that it’s possible for them, they won’t take the action necessary to become that future best self. Warriors, there is so much more to life than our weight. Yet, if you're anything like the average woman, you've spent years of your life thinking about your weight and your body. I don’t have many regrets in life yet boy do I regret the amount of time I’ve spent thinking negatively about my body. I deeply regret the years that I linked my worth to my physical appearance. It's time to change. The first step to having a healthy relationship with food and your weight is to become aware of what you’re thinking about food and your weight. Tune back into yourself. What do you want? What feels good? Over the years we've jumped on this treadmill of life, powered mostly by men, telling us how to value ourselves. Let's get off. Our collective brain power is needed. It’s time warriors. If you want something to be different, we need to be different. I do what I do because I want to help people live lives they love. Say you want to improve your physical strength. You know there are things TO do: move your body, sleep, eat more whole foods, etc... I'll bet you also know there are things NOT to do: skip workouts, eat plenty of sugar and white flour, spend a lot of time on the couch with your hand in a bag of chips? Same goes for mental strength. Amy Morin is a licensed clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and psychology lecturer at Northeastern University.
