For years, I thought I needed better systems to make motherhood and life work. Better cleaning routines, more organization, less clutter, better habits. And while I love a good system, looking back over 13 years of motherhood, I can see that systems weren't actually the thing that helped me move forward. What made the biggest difference was learning how to clear the mental clutter, find a home for all the ideas in my head, and get clear on what mattered to me and what my next step was. In this episode, I'm sharing how that process eventually became the Thriving in Motherhood Planner and how it has helped me continue moving forward through busy seasons, survival mode, homeschooling, building a business, family adventures, and everyday life. I'm also introducing the Action + Clarity Matrix and the four places we can find ourselves as moms: bored, busy but not fulfilled, bummed or frustrated, or aligned Plus, the 2027 Thriving in Motherhood Planner launch is coming soon! In today's episode, I'm excited to welcome back my wonderful friend Stephanie May Wilson to talk about her new book, Create a Life You Love—and this conversation couldn't have come at a better time. We unpack why “one right answer” is often a myth and how to make big decisions without feeling like you're about to ruin your life. Stephanie shares how to tell the difference between a closed door and normal fear, how to build a wise “cabinet” (because not everyone gets a vote on your life), and why confidence is really about trusting yourself to pivot when things don't go as planned. We also talk about navigating big transitions—marriage, motherhood, moving to Spain—and what it looks like to stop living in the future and fully invest in the season you're in, even without perfect clarity. If you're at a crossroads or afraid of getting it wrong, this episode will feel like a deep exhale. What if the life you're dreaming of isn't built through one big breakthrough — but through hundreds of small boundaries you choose to honor every day?In this final episode of my four-part boundaries series, I reflect on what life has looked like after years of learning to protect my energy, trust myself, and build a business that aligns with who I truly am.This journey wasn't quick, and it definitely wasn't linear. It took years of uncomfortable conversations, setbacks, self-reflection, and learning to choose myself without guilt. But looking back, I can confidently say that boundaries became the foundation for every positive change that followed. In this episode, I share:- Why boundaries helped me become the leader my business needed- The connection between self-worth and the way others treat you- How small, consistent changes create lasting transformation- Why embodying your values matters more than simply talking about them- Creating a business that supports your life—not the other way around- What it feels like to finally live in alignment with the vision you once only dreamed aboutIf you've followed this boundaries series from the beginning, I hope this final conversation reminds you that lasting change doesn't happen overnight—but every boundary you honor is a step toward the life you're creating.Connect with Meraki Media Management:- Instagram: @meraki_media_management- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GetSocialwithMeraki- YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@meraki_media_management- TikTok: @meraki_media_management- Website: https://www.merakimediamanagement.com/If you've been listening to this boundaries series, I'd love to know your biggest takeaway. The 4 Phases of Betrayal Recovery: Are You Healing—or Just Learning? After betrayal, it is easy to become trapped in an endless cycle of learning. You listen to more podcasts, read more books, study nervous system regulation, attachment, boundaries, narcissism, reconciliation, and divorce—hoping the next piece of information will finally make you feel clear. But there comes a point when gathering more information can become its own form of hypervigilance. In Part One of this two-part series, Lora Cheadle introduces the four phases of her Life Choreography® Method: Regulate, Reorient, Reconnect, and Rechoreograph. She guides you through each phase as though you were in a private session together, helping you identify where you are, where you may have skipped ahead, and what kind of support you actually need now. This episode also explores the difference between conscious insight and subconscious change, why the right tool used at the wrong time can feel like another failure, and how hypnosis can help update the old survival rules that continue operating beneath the surface. Top 3 Takeaways Learning more is not always the same as healing. Learning can be an important first step, but endless information gathering can keep you focused on the problem and safely outside your own transformation. At some point, the next step is no longer another book, podcast, or tool. It is allowing what you already know to change how you live. Betrayal recovery has an order. The four phases of the Life Choreography® Method are Regulate, Reorient, Reconnect, and Rechoreograph. You cannot force clarity while your nervous system is still in survival, reconnect with yourself before orienting to the truth, or rebuild a life that reflects who you are before knowing who you are now. Conscious understanding may not change a subconscious survival pattern. You can consciously know that you are safe, worthy, and capable of making decisions while your body continues reacting from fear, abandonment, or helplessness. Hypnosis helps update the subconscious beliefs, conditioned associations, and old survival rules that keep recreating the same emotional response. From Powerless to Sovereign: Reclaiming Your Voice, Intuition, and Financial Power After Betrayal with Soochen Low Betrayal can leave you feeling as though you have lost control over everything—your relationship, your future, your finances, and even your ability to trust yourself. You may question your judgment, second-guess every decision, and become so afraid of making another mistake that you stop moving forward altogether. But sovereignty is not about always knowing the right answer. It is about reclaiming your authority over your own life. In this episode, Lora Cheadle is joined by creative power business alchemist and sovereign leadership catalyst Soochen Low for a conversation about rebuilding self-trust, listening to your heart, reclaiming your financial power, and creating a life that belongs to you. Soochen shares her experience of leaving a controlling and emotionally abusive marriage after ten years of feeling that she was never doing, earning, or contributing enough. Although she had built successful businesses and generated significant income, she had allowed someone else's story about her worth to become more powerful than her own. Together, Lora and Soochen explore what it means to trust your heart after it has been broken—and why listening to your intuition does not guarantee that life will always be easy or painless. Sometimes your inner wisdom warns you away from something. Other times, it leads you directly into an experience that becomes part of your growth, awakening, and evolution. They also discuss the financial fear that often accompanies betrayal and why earning, receiving, and building wealth are not selfish. Money can become an expression of agency, creativity, generosity, and freedom. Reclaiming your financial power is not merely about making more money. It is about recognizing that you are capable of supporting yourself, directing your life, and making choices based on what is right for you. This conversation is an invitation to stop waiting until you feel completely certain, stop demanding perfection from yourself, and begin moving forward one choice at a time. Because becoming sovereign does not mean you will never make another mistake. It means the choices—and the life—are finally yours. Top 3 Takeaways Your heart may not have betrayed you. After betrayal, it is common to believe that your intuition failed because you trusted someone who later hurt you. But you may have heard your inner wisdom and not yet understood it, or your path may have contained lessons and growth that you could not have anticipated. Rebuilding self-trust begins with curiosity and compassion rather than blaming yourself for what you did not know. Financial sovereignty is part of recovering yourself. Betrayal can create intense fears about money, security, and survival. Reclaiming your financial power means recognizing your ability to create, earn, receive, and make decisions for yourself. Money does not have to be associated with greed, selfishness, or proving your worth. It can support freedom, generosity, service, and choice. Sovereignty is not perfection—it is agency. You do not have to know exactly how everything will turn out before you move. You are allowed to choose, make mistakes, change your mind, and choose again. Your power is not found in getting every decision right. It is found in knowing that you can respond, adjust, and continue creating a life that reflects who you are now. Favorite Quotes “I thought I was going to crash and burn. But I didn't. I discovered I had wings—that I could actually fly.” —Soochen Low About Soochen Soochen Low is a creative power business alchemist and sovereign leadership catalyst who supports creative, conscious, mission-driven women in building financially sustainable businesses without abandoning their integrity, creativity, or values. Her work helps women move beyond people-pleasing, proving, and self-sacrifice so they can reclaim their creative power and lead their businesses, income, lives, and destinies with greater sovereignty. She is also the author of the forthcoming book From Servant Girl to Sovereign Queen, which explores rewriting the stories that keep women small, transforming their businesses, and leading from the wisdom of the heart. Why Feeling Good About Yourself Matters After Betrayal with Jasmin El Kordi of Bluelene After betrayal, it can feel like every thought, every conversation, and every part of your life gets hijacked by infidelity. You are trying to understand what happened, protect yourself legally and financially, regulate your nervous system, and figure out what comes next. But what if part of healing is also allowing yourself moments of normalcy, confidence, curiosity, and even fun? In this episode, Lora Cheadle talks about the importance of titrating betrayal recovery so your entire life does not become consumed by pain, processing, and problem-solving. She shares why simple experiences such as listening to music, dancing, learning something new, taking care of your skin, or feeling good in your body can help interrupt obsessive loops and support nervous system regulation. Lora is joined by Jasmin El Kordi of Bluelene Advanced Skincare for a conversation about stress, aging, confidence, skincare, and the science behind topical methylene blue. Together, they explore how stress can affect the skin, why looking in the mirror after betrayal can feel so painful, and how caring for yourself on the outside can sometimes help you reconnect with yourself on the inside. This is not about vanity. It is about remembering that you are still alive, still worthy, still allowed to feel beautiful, and still allowed to enjoy your life while you heal. Top 3 Takeaways Betrayal recovery has to be titrated. Healing matters, but not every moment of your life has to revolve around infidelity, deep processing, or hard conversations. Feeling good about yourself supports regulation. Confidence, beauty, laughter, music, movement, and small acts of self-care can help your nervous system exhale. Your body knows when something feels aligned. Whether you are making decisions about your relationship, your work, your healing, or your next chapter, your body often registers truth before your mind can explain it. Favorite Quote “Not all betrayal recovery has to be specifically about betrayal recovery.” About Jasmin El Kordi Jasmin El Kordi is a highly accomplished entrepreneur and senior executive with over 30 years of experience in the technology, telecommunications, and wellness industries. Prior to co-founding Bluelene, she held executive and leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies including Sprint, Cisco, and NCR, as well as serving as Vice President for the European consumer goods company Prisma Natural. After graduating Summa cum Laude from the University of Maryland, she shifted her focus to the intersection of longevity science and personal care. As CEO, Jasmin has led Mblue Labs from a university research project into an award-winning, globally recognized biotech platform. Bluelene  is a patented, biotech-driven skincare and hair growth brand built on the anti-aging powers of Methylene Blue The Science: Originally researched as a treatment for Progeria (a rapid-aging childhood disease) at the University of Maryland, scientist Kan Cao discovered that Methylene Blue continuously cycles to support cellular defense and energy. It continuously stimulates skin cells to produce collagen and elastin while extending the healthy lifespan of the cells themselves. The Benefits: Unlike traditional anti-aging ingredients like retinol—which can encourage cell death—Methylene Blue actively repairs DNA damage, reduces oxidative stress, and significantly boosts skin hydration and firmness. Product Line: Bluelene offers a wide range of products tailored to all ages, from Gen-Zers preventing damage to older demographics focusing on deep anti-aging. The line features bestsellers like their Daily Moisturizer, Eye Cream, and an elasticity cream specifically formulated to maintain skin structure. You thought healing would mean feeling better by now.Maybe you've been to therapy. Read the books. Listened to the podcasts. Journaled your heart out. Maybe you've done everything you're "supposed" to do after divorce and you're still wondering:Why do I feel so stuck? In this episode, Dawn shares the three core ingredients she believes every woman needs to truly let go, move on, and begin creating a life she loves after divorce.Because healing isn't just about understanding what happened. It's about having enough support to steady your nervous system, processing the pain that still lives beneath the surface, and building a vision for your future that feels bigger than your past. You'll learn:• Why support is often the most overlooked part of divorce recovery• The difference between processing pain and simply replaying it• Why childhood wounds often keep us stuck long after the marriage ends• How unprocessed grief, resentment, and regret can block forward movement• The role manifestation actually plays in healing after divorce• Why creating a compelling vision for your future matters just as much as grieving your pastDawn also responds to a listener who feels trapped in a cycle of emotional setbacks as new information about her ex continues to surface, making it difficult to move forward. If you've ever found yourself thinking:"I've done so much work. Why doesn't my life feel different?"This episode will help you identify what's missing and where your healing journey may need more support, deeper processing, or a clearer vision of what's next.Because moving on isn't something that magically happens one day. It's something you build—one ingredient at a time.Support the show✨Join the Cocoon Community - your people are waiting! ✨

When Betrayal Hits the Body: Sleep, Stress, Hormones & Healing With Karyn Shanks, MD Betrayal doesn't just affect your heart and mind — it affects your body too. In this compassionate conversation, Lora sits down with physician and functional medicine expert Dr. Karyn Shanks to explore the very real physical impact of betrayal trauma, chronic stress, and emotional overwhelm. Together, they discuss how trauma affects sleep, hormones, inflammation, energy, digestion, nervous system regulation, and overall health — and why these responses are not signs that you're weak or broken, but signs that your body is trying to protect you. This episode also explores self-compassion, the stories women carry around productivity and worthiness, and how healing begins when we stop fighting our bodies and start listening to them with curiosity and care. Top 3 Takeaways Betrayal trauma affects the entire body — including sleep, hormones, digestion, energy, and nervous system regulation. Your body is not betraying you. Many physical symptoms are intelligent survival responses. Healing does not require perfection. Small moments of rest, nourishment, support, and compassion matter deeply. Stop Waiting for the Map to Appear Why clarity comes through movement — and why you need a path, not just more information. After betrayal, it is natural to want the whole map before you move. You want to know if your marriage can be saved, if they are telling the truth, whether you will regret staying or leaving, and if you will ever feel like yourself again. But what if the map does not appear until you move? In this episode, Lora Cheadle shares a story from her 10-year podcast anniversary trip to New York, where her GPS kept spinning and recalculating until she finally started walking. That moment became the perfect metaphor for betrayal recovery: standing still does not always create clarity. Sometimes movement creates clarity. Through stories from New York, Broadway, The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and her own betrayal recovery journey, Lora explores why healing requires more than listening, learning, or waiting to see what your partner will do. Healing requires a path, a plan, support, and the willingness to take the next step. If you are tired of spiraling, eroding your boundaries, betraying yourself to keep the peace, or waiting for someone else to become clear before you reclaim your own life, this episode will help you understand why it is time to stop waiting for the map to appear and take the path. Top 3 Takeaways The map may not appear until you move. After betrayal, it is tempting to wait for certainty before taking action. But clarity often comes through movement, not before it. Listening is not the same as having a plan. Podcasts, books, therapy, and support groups can all be helpful, but gathering information is not the same as walking a structured recovery path. You do not have to walk the path alone. Healing after betrayal requires heart, head, courage, support, and action. Like Dorothy gathering companions along the Yellow Brick Road, you need people and a process to help you move forward. Favorite Quote “The map will not appear until you move. But you do not have to keep walking the journey alone.” LOVE THE SHOW? TAKE THE NEXT STEP Don't just listen—start healing. Welcome to the Personal Development Trailblazers Podcast! In today's episode, we're talking about how to build self-trust so you can confidently make life decisions and create a life you truly love. Julie York is a Self-Trust Coach who helps women rebuild the one thing that changes everything: trust in themselves. Her work sits at the intersection of nervous system regulation, thought work, and values-based decision making. And it starts from a diagnosis most coaches miss. What looks like indecisiveness, overthinking, or lack of confidence is often something deeper: a woman who was conditioned out of trusting herself. By relationships. By a lifetime of being taught to look outward for permission rather than inward. Until overriding what she feels doesn't just feel normal, it feels responsible.Julie knows this territory from the inside. After leaving a domestically violent relationship, she spent years rebuilding her own self-trust from the inside out; and discovered that it isn't something you either have or you don't. It's something that gets deliberately dismantled. And it can be deliberately rebuilt. She now works with women who are functioning on the outside and lost on the inside, helping them come back to themselves, back to their own knowing, and start building a life that actually feels like theirs.Connect with Julie Here: https://www.facebook.com/julie.york.selftrustcoach/https://www.facebook.com/JYSelfTrustCoach/https://www.instagram.com/julie.york.selftrustresethttps://www.tiktok.com/@julie.york.selftrusthttp://Lifeafterdv.comGrab the freebie here: The Self-Trust Journal: http://self-trust-journal-podcast.subscribepage.io===================================If you enjoyed this episode, remember to hit the like button and subscribe. A Decade of FLAUNT!: Truth-Telling, Betrayal, and Defining Yourself What ten years of podcasting taught me about exposure, revelation, and reclaiming who you are. FLAUNT! is officially ten years old, and this anniversary episode is both a celebration and a reflection on what a decade of truth-telling has revealed. When Lora first started the podcast, she believed she was happily married and thought the show would focus primarily on empowerment, wellness, sensuality, confidence, visibility, humor, spirituality, and the art of living freely. Using burlesque as a metaphor, she explored the tension between concealing and revealing, the ways women cover or enhance parts of themselves, and how personal growth invites us to strip away roles, labels, scripts, and expectations. But over the past ten years, the show evolved in ways Lora never expected. Betrayal, burnout, affair recovery, nervous-system capacity, self-trust, and identity reconstruction became central themes. What once felt like a joyful personal-development conversation became something deeper and more urgent after betrayal exposed the difference between revealing yourself by choice and being exposed by someone else's actions. In this episode, Lora asks one of the core questions that has shaped both the podcast and her TEDx work: Who gets to define you? She explores how we come to know ourselves through other people's judgments, labels, and expectations. Whether we were called the difficult child, the fixer, the shy one, the loud one, the good wife, the good mom, or the capable one, many of us build identities around what others have reflected back to us. Betrayal can rip those identities away and force us to ask who we are without the roles we once relied on. Lora also reflects on the complicated nature of anniversaries. Some anniversaries are joyful, while others mark grief, shock, loss, or the end of a life we thought we were living. A podcast anniversary, a wedding anniversary, a D-Day anniversary, or a divorce anniversary can all bring mixed emotions. Rather than forcing those feelings to make sense, Lora invites listeners to honor the complexity of time, truth, grief, gratitude, and growth. This episode also explores the importance of being proud of yourself, not only for the big wins, but for the quiet moments of survival, self-reflection, honesty, and repair. Lora discusses the difference between blame and self-awareness, especially when betrayed partners look back and recognize places where they were exhausted, over-functioning, resentful, controlling, self-sacrificing, or disconnected from their own truth. That reflection does not excuse betrayal or make the betrayed partner responsible for someone else's choices. Instead, it creates an opportunity for reclamation. Lora shares how resentment often reveals where we performed a role no one actually asked us to perform. Whether it was keeping the perfect house, being endlessly helpful, managing everyone else's needs, or sacrificing ourselves to be seen as good, resentment can become a doorway into truth. It asks us to notice where we abandoned ourselves, where we hid our needs, and where we expected others to appreciate something we never clearly chose or communicated. The episode also addresses a tender truth: sometimes we do not face reality because we do not yet have the capacity, safety, resources, support, legal clarity, emotional maturity, or nervous-system strength to deal with it. Humans minimize, rationalize, distract, stay busy, and bury their heads in the sand when the truth would require a decision, they are not ready or resourced enough to make. This can happen in the betrayed partner, and it can also happen in the partner who cheats. An affair may become a distraction from pain, dissatisfaction, or unresolved inner issues, but while that may explain behavior, it does not excuse the harm. Ultimately, this anniversary episode is about truth as a doorway, not a weapon. It is about learning to speak truth to yourself first, then to others. It is about knowing when to show up, when to rest, when to ask better questions, when to respect someone else's capacity, and when to stop outsourcing your identity to someone else's judgment, betrayal, or approval. After ten years of FLAUNT!, Lora returns to one central truth: someone else's judgment is not a verdict. Someone else's betrayal is not your identity. Truth may strip away fantasy and denial first, but it also creates the possibility of real self-definition. Top 3 Takeaways There is a difference between being exposed and revealing yourself. Betrayal exposes you without your consent. Healing is the process of choosing what you reveal, what you reclaim, what you protect, and what you no longer allow to define you. Someone else's judgment is not a verdict. Much of our identity is shaped through labels, roles, and reflections from others, but those labels do not have to define us forever. Confidence is the ability to stay connected to who you are, even when someone else misunderstands, judges, betrays, or fails to value you. Truth requires capacity, and avoidance does not erase responsibility. Sometimes we do not face the truth because we do not yet have the resources, safety, support, or emotional capacity to deal with it. That may explain why people minimize, distract, rationalize, or avoid, but it does not excuse harm. Truth becomes healing when it is used as a doorway into responsibility, support, and reclamation. Favorite Quotes “Betrayal strips you without your consent. Healing is when you begin choosing what comes off and what goes back on.” “Sometimes we bury our head in the sand because looking directly at the truth would require us to make a decision that we are either not ready to make or not resourced enough to make.” LOVE THE SHOW? Heal Squad x Maria Menounos

Hey Heal Squad! If you've ever wondered how people find the strength to keep going after life completely changes, this episode is for you. Today, Maria sits down with Kelly Rizzo…multimedia personality, founder of Eat Travel Rock, and host of the Comfort Food podcast. Many of you may also know Kelly as the wife of the late Bob Saget, the beloved comedian and Full House icon who passed away unexpectedly in 2022.What started as a conversation about coffee (yes, Maria and Kelly compare their favorite coffee orders!) quickly turned into a powerful discussion about purpose, love, resilience, and what happens when life doesn't go according to plan. Before Kelly became a voice for people navigating grief, she was rebuilding her own life… spending more than a decade chasing her passions for food, travel, and music—often questioning whether she should keep going. Kelly shares why success isn't about followers, fame, or going viral. It's about passion, consistency, patience, and building something meaningful one step at a time. Then we get into the love story. Kelly shares how Bob first slid into her DMs, why she initially resisted dating him, and how he spent four nights winning over not just her—but her entire friend group. In classic Bob fashion, he even brought John Mayer along on one of their early dates to help give Kelly the official stamp of approval. It's funny, sweet, unexpected, and a side of Bob that most people never got to see. Kelly also opens up about the relationship they built together, why she believes Bob had finally found the love he had been searching for, and the moments that made their marriage so special. And just before we pause for Part 2, Kelly shares the beginning of the story that changed everything—the final night she spoke to Bob, an eerie connection to an episode of And Just Like That, and the feeling that something wasn't quite right. We'll leave it there for now. But in all honesty, this is a beautiful conversation about taking chances on love, trusting your path, and remembering what truly matters. HEALERS & HEAL LINERS When Life Falls Apart, A New Life Begins: Kelly never planned to become a voice for people navigating grief. But her story is proof that sometimes the biggest detours end up leading us exactly where we're supposed to go. Slow Growth Builds Lasting Success: Kelly spent more than a decade creating content, chasing opportunities, and trusting her passions without any guarantee it would pay off. Her story is a reminder that meaningful success is usually built slowly, one consistent step at a time. The Right Person May Not Be Who You Expected: Kelly never imagined she'd end up falling in love with Bob Saget. Their story is a reminder that love doesn't always fit the picture we've created in our minds—and sometimes the greatest relationships begin when we stop trying to control the outcome. But some of the choices you make in the days and weeks after discovery can create a second wave of pain—legally, emotionally, financially, and relationally. In this episode, betrayal recovery expert and attorney Lora Cheadle shares the biggest mistakes betrayed partners make after infidelity, from stalking and social media blowups to using children as investigators, obsessively searching for answers, and managing a partner's recovery. Most importantly, she explains how to protect your future self while navigating one of life's most devastating experiences. If you've been betrayed and don't know what to do next, this episode will help you slow down, regulate your nervous system, and avoid letting the affair cost you twice. Top 3 Takeaways Your First Job Isn't Deciding Whether to Stay or Leave When betrayal is discovered, your brain immediately wants certainty, answers, and relief. The Biggest Mistake Isn't What They Did—It's Abandoning Yourself The deepest trap after betrayal is becoming consumed by your partner's actions, recovery, and choices while neglecting your own healing. Recovery begins when you stop obsessing about them and start rebuilding trust in yourself. Don't Let the Affair Cost You Twice The affair is painful enough. What Are You Under the Influence Of? How Fear, Trauma & Other People's Opinions Keep You Stuck After Betrayal After betrayal, everyone seems to have advice. Leave. Stay. Fight for your marriage. Run. Forgive. Never trust again. But when your nervous system is overwhelmed, it's easy to absorb other people's certainty instead of listening to your own truth. In this episode, Lora explores how betrayal trauma increases suggestibility, why fear spreads so quickly, and how to reclaim your ability to think clearly, trust yourself, and make decisions from wisdom rather than panic. Drawing from her experience as an attorney, clinical hypnotherapist, and betrayal recovery coach, Lora explains why knowledge reduces fear, how hypnosis can help break the trance of trauma, and why discernment—not certainty—is the real path to healing. If you've ever wondered whether you're making decisions based on your own truth or someone else's story, this episode is for you. Top 3 Takeaways Betrayal Trauma Makes You More Suggestible. When your nervous system is overwhelmed, your brain naturally seeks certainty. That's why it's easy to absorb other people's opinions, fears, and experiences instead of trusting yourself. Discernment Is Different Than Fear. Fear demands immediate answers. Discernment allows reality to reveal itself over time. Healing isn't about becoming hypervigilant—it's about staying connected to yourself while the truth unfolds. Knowledge Creates Calm. Understanding your legal, financial, emotional, and relational options doesn't force a decision. It reduces fear, increases clarity, and helps you make choices from a place of confidence rather than panic. Favorite Quotes "When we're desperate for certainty, we start borrowing certainty from other people." "Discernment is the ability to stay connected to yourself while reality reveals itself." "Fear shrinks your world. Knowledge expands it." "Healing isn't about becoming fearless. It's about learning how to hear yourself again underneath the noise." LOVE THE SHOW? Will I Ever Feel Normal Again After Betrayal? One of the most common questions women ask after betrayal is: “Will I ever feel like myself again?” Because betrayal trauma and infidelity don't just break your heart — they disrupt your nervous system, your identity, your sense of safety, your routines, and even your perception of reality. In this honest and deeply grounding episode, Lora shares what healing after betrayal actually looks like — not the polished Instagram version, but the real, nuanced, nonlinear truth of nervous system recovery, emotional healing, and rebuilding self-trust after infidelity. She explores: why betrayal feels so destabilizing what trauma does to the brain and body why healing is quieter and more subtle than most people expect the real signs you're healing how to stop losing yourself in someone else's healing why peace eventually matters more than certainty what it truly means to stay true to yourself after betrayal This episode is compassionate, practical, validating, and full of the kind of honest insight women desperately need when they wonder if they'll ever feel okay again. Top 3 Takeaways Healing after betrayal is not about “never being triggered again” — it's about building the capacity to feel, regulate, recover, and stay connected to yourself. One of the biggest signs of healing is when betrayal stops being the center of your identity and you begin caring about your future again. Real healing is often quiet and gradual: sleeping through the night, laughing unexpectedly, trusting yourself faster, and choosing peace over constant certainty. Why Marriage Counseling Can Backfire After Infidelity After betrayal, almost everyone says the same thing: “You two need counseling.” But what if rushing into couples therapy immediately after infidelity is actually making things worse? In this deeply honest and eye-opening episode, Lora Cheadle shares why betrayal is not simply a marriage problem — it's a nervous system injury, an identity crisis, and a reality-shattering trauma that requires stabilization before relationship repair. Drawing from her own experience recovering after her husband's multiple affairs, Lora explains why so many betrayed partners leave counseling feeling blamed, overwhelmed, emotionally flooded, or even more disconnected from themselves. She explores the “assumption trap” that infidelity is caused by relationship problems, why traditional couples counseling can unintentionally backfire early on, and what healing-focused support should actually prioritize first. This episode is not anti-therapy and it's not anti-marriage. It's a compassionate, trauma-informed conversation about why healing begins with you — your safety, your nervous system, your clarity, and your self-trust. If you've been betrayed and feel confused, pressured, dysregulated, or like you've completely lost yourself, this episode will help you understand why. Top 3 Takeaways Infidelity is not just a marriage problem. Betrayal shatters your sense of reality, identity, trust, and nervous system safety. Before working on the relationship, the betrayed partner often needs stabilization, orientation, and emotional safety first. Traditional couples counseling can unintentionally backfire early on. When therapy focuses too quickly on “relationship dynamics,” many betrayed partners leave feeling blamed, self-monitoring, emotionally flooded, or pressured to fix the relationship before their own trauma has been addressed. Healing starts with rebuilding yourself — not rushing decisions. Before deciding whether to stay, leave, forgive, reconcile, or rebuild the marriage, it's essential to regulate the nervous system, reconnect with self-trust, and create clarity from a grounded place instead of survival mode. Favorite Quotes “Infidelity is not a marriage problem. It is an individual's problem.” “People cheat because they can't meet their own needs.” “Marriage counseling assumes two regulated adults discussing relationship dynamics.” “Betrayal involves one deeply dysregulated person trying to survive the collapse of their reality.” “It's not about pretending everything is okay. It's about rebuilding you and your truth.” “When you're bleeding out, you stop the blood flow first.” “You don't need to rush your healing. But you do need LOVE THE SHOW? Guest After 11 years at IBM, Brooke Erol left a "great job on paper" to pursue a more aligned, purpose-driven life. She founded Your Best Life Inc. to help professionals find meaning at work, and later Purposeful Business to support leaders in building people-centered organizations. She is the author of More Than A Paycheck and Create a Life You Love, and speaks globally on leadership and purposeful work. Summary In this conversation, career coach and author Brooke Erol explores the changing nature of work, fulfillment, and identity in an era shaped by burnout, layoffs, and artificial intelligence. Drawing from her own experience at IBM, she reflects on realizing early in her career that many people were "chasing the weekend" rather than finding meaning in their work. That realization eventually led her to write More Than a Paycheck, a guide designed to help individuals develop greater self-awareness and agency in their careers. Brooke argues that self-awareness is foundational to meaningful work, yet modern life leaves little room for reflection. She encourages people to intentionally create time to examine what energizes them, what no longer serves them, and which limiting beliefs may be shaping their choices. Throughout the discussion, she emphasizes that traditional career formulas—go to college, get a corporate job, retire happily—are no longer reliable in today's unstable job market. The conversation also examines the disruptive impact of AI, especially on younger workers and recent graduates, while highlighting the growing value of trade and skilled labor careers. Brooke encourages people to remain adaptable, continuously learn new skills, and consider side projects or entrepreneurial paths alongside traditional employment. The discussion closes with reflections on retirement, purpose, and identity. Brooke and Jeff agree that fulfillment comes not from stopping work entirely, but from continuing to contribute, learn, connect, and pursue activities that make life meaningful. The Essential Point Brooke's central message is that people must take greater ownership of their careers and lives by developing self-awareness, questioning inherited assumptions about work, and intentionally pursuing work that aligns with who they are. She also stresses that fulfillment and purpose are not luxuries reserved for retirement—they are essential parts of a healthy, sustainable life at every stage. Jason and Lauren Vallotton sit down with their friend McKenzie Gibson, a labor and delivery nurse, to talk about something that doesn't get discussed nearly enough: how to prepare not just for marriage, but for a full and meaningful life. In a culture that often treats singleness like a waiting room, McKenzie shares how she's built a life marked by deep friendship, intentionality, hospitality, and purpose through her 20s and 30s.The conversation dives into the realities of burnout, nervous system overload, and the emotional toll of high-intensity work. McKenzie opens up about recognizing her limits, stepping into a sabbatical season, and why rest can sometimes be one of the wisest choices we make rather than a sign of failure. Together, they explore the importance of building rhythms that sustain your mental, emotional, and spiritual health long before marriage or parenting enters the picture.Jason, Lauren, and McKenzie also unpack the challenges many single adults feel inside marriage-centered communities and how to resist shrinking yourself while waiting for the next season. They talk about friendship as a calling, learning through proximity to healthy families, the power of intergenerational relationships, and why true hospitality is more about making room for people than creating a perfect environment. In this episode: • why preparing for a meaningful life matters as much as preparing for marriage • recognizing burnout, nervous system overload, and emotional exhaustion • how sabbaticals and rest can be acts of wisdom rather than quitting • friendship as purpose, not just convenience • learning about marriage and parenting through close community • what real hospitality looks like beyond hosting dinners • navigating singleness in a marriage-focused culture • building relationships across different ages and stages of life • practical ways to create deeper community and connection • why availability, feedback, and intentional presence matter so muchWhether you're single, dating, married, parenting, or somewhere in between, this conversation offers practical wisdom for building a life filled with healthy relationships, purpose, and connection.Share this episode with a friend, leave a review if it encouraged you, and let us know: what part of building a life you love feels hardest right now?PatreonIf you've enjoyed this podcast, would you consider financially supporting the show?
