Wet Bulb Temperature Forecast for Southeast Texas It's not just the heat you need to watch—it's the combination of heat and humidity. Wet bulb temperatures are forecast to climb across Southeast Texas over the next several days, making it feel even more uncomfortable outdoors and increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses. When wet bulb temperatures rise, the body has a harder time cooling itself through sweating. If you're spending time outside, be sure to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and check on vulnerable family members, neighbors, and pets. How are conditions where you are? Are you already feeling the summer humidity? #SoutheastTexas #HeatSafety #WetBulbTemperature #TexasWeather #WeatherInsights The post Wet Bulb Temperature Forecast for Southeast Texas appeared first on Weather Insights.

Why do over 80% of individuals who go through secular 28-day recovery programs relapse within the first year? In the conclusion of this foundational two-part series on Recovery Through Christ, Pastor John Alworth addresses the critical missing link in lasting transformation: a dedicated relationship with Jesus Christ. Broadcasting live to Southeast Texas in 2026, Pastor Alworth breaks down Steps 5 through 12, mapping the traditional recovery timeline directly back to its original scriptural origins. This episode tackles the massive spiritual hurdles that keep people trapped in cycles of addiction, anxiety, and depression—specifically the heavy chains of unforgiveness and shame. Pastor Alworth shares the immense power of reciprocal forgiveness, the necessity of forgiving yourself, and how real healing occurs when we replace the generic "higher power" with the living Trinity. By examining the book of James and the book of Romans as practical recovery manuals, this broadcast highlights how to renew your mind against the noise of modern culture, step into your calling as an ambassador for Christ, and carry the message of true freedom to a world in bondage. Some women clear their calendar for a mammogram. Others step onto a 40-foot pink coach in their office parking lot. As director of mobile services at The Rose, Shelly Kot oversees a five-coach fleet that delivers the same 3D screening you’d get in a center to women across 45 counties in Southeast Texas. During this conversation, she talks about the moving parts that keep those rolling clinics on the road, the sick feeling when a generator or quality check shuts a day down, and why she still puts on a badge and does mammograms herself. She also shares how being raised by her grandparents, working inside both nonprofit and for-profit systems, and parenting a daughter shapes the way she teaches women to push for answers when something feels wrong. Heavy rainfall is ongoing this morning, primarily north of US-59, where a Flood Watch remains in effect. Early impacts are already being observed, including areas of street flooding and rising water levels along creeks and bayous—especially across the شمال and northwest portions of the Houston metro. Overnight, thunderstorms produced pockets of large hail from Sugar Land to Pearland. While storm intensity has briefly decreased, the overall pattern remains active, and multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue through the day. The axis of heaviest rainfall is currently aligned from Columbus through Sealy, Cypress, Kingwood, and Liberty. Additional rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are likely, with isolated areas potentially receiving 4 to 5 inches where storms repeatedly move over the same locations. As rainfall continues and soils become increasingly saturated, runoff will intensify, leading to ongoing rises in creeks, bayous, and rivers. Although storm motions are relatively fast, the potential for training storms raises concern for localized flooding, particularly in more vulnerable watersheds. There is also a limited severe weather risk. A few stronger storms today could produce large hail or gusty winds, especially if the coastal boundary shifts farther inland and enhances instability. A strong cold front is expected to move through later today, bringing an end to the rain from north to south by this evening. In its wake, a much cooler and drier air mass will settle into the region, setting up a more pleasant and stable weather pattern for the weekend. Quiet conditions to start the day across Southeast Texas, but we're tracking storms moving through North Texas that could try to hold together as they approach our northern counties later this morning. Most guidance suggests they'll weaken—but we can't completely rule out a stronger storm slipping through. This afternoon, the setup becomes a bit more favorable for storm development, with enough instability and wind shear in place. While the main severe threat looks to stay north of our area, any storms that do develop could produce large hail. A cap may limit storm coverage, especially farther south, but if it breaks, a few storms could quickly pop up. Looking ahead, a slow-moving front approaches next week and may stall north of Houston, keeping rain chances low early on. By mid to late week, rain chances increase as multiple disturbances move through, followed by a stronger front late week that could bring cooler, breezy conditions. Stay weather-aware this afternoon
Given what's happening in the Persian Gulf these days, the United States is soon to be the largest exporter of oil and gas. With increased drilling and fracking in the Texas Permian Basin and multiple oil and gas pipelines headed for the Gulf of Mexico Coast, the neighboring communities are at the nexus of climate change disasters and community resistance. Port Arthur Texas is home base for the largest oil refinery in North America and a dizzying toxic array of fossil fuel and chemical facilities. But the people are stepping up to say - NO MORE. Port Arthur Community Action Network (also known as PACAN) is raising the alarm, holding the polluters accountable, and paving the path to transition away from an extractive economy to one that supports restorative justice. Drilling, enabled by the fracking boom, has more than quadrupled in the past decade, and is expected to grow aggressively in the upcoming years. Across the Gulf Coast (in Texas and Louisiana), petrochemical corporations are racing to build new pipelines, oil and gas terminals and processors, and massive plastic producing plants. If allowed, this would increase the threat of climate disaster and further pollute the most vulnerable black, Indigenous, and low income communities who have suffered far too long the disproportionate impacts. Our guest on this encore 2021 presentation is John Beard, Jr., Founder and CEO of Port Arthur Community Action Network, is helping to mobilize his community of Port Arthur and the Southeast Texas region. As a former oil employee turned advocate for environmental justice in the place he has lived all his life. John has been fighting for health and safety protections on the refineries, export terminals, petrochemical plants, and leading efforts against deepwater ports, each of which could export an estimated 2 million barrels of crude oil per day.
