THE KELLY CARDENAS PODCAST PRESENTS Sharon Jackson was born on April 15, 1966. She is the last of six children born to Pastor Andrew and the late Lady Lottie Jackson. She has been singing for as long as she can remember. As a child she would sing with her brothers and sisters at church, as well as at home around the kitchen table. Music has always been a part of her family. She came to realize at an early age that God had anointed her to sing praises unto Him. She graduated from Memphis Central High School in 1984 and went on to attend Emory University in Atlanta, GA. However, as a junior, she transferred to University of Memphis where she received her B.A. in Psychology. Sharon began leading Praise and Worship in 1986 at Faith Temple Ministries Church in Memphis, TN where her father, Andrew Jackson, is the founder and Pastor Emeritus, and her brother, Ivory Jackson is the current pastor. She has found that worship is a lifestyle that one must live out daily, being fully aware that God is ever present and ever near. The Lord has truly anointed her to lead His people into His presence, and she counts it a privilege, as well as an awesome responsibility to have been chosen by God to do so. She served as the coordinator and worship leader for the Praise and Worship Team at her church for 25 years and she also served as the choir director and trainer. For the last 12 years, Sharon has been serving as the Minister of Music at Greater Community COGIC in Marietta, GA where the pastor is Bishop Matthew Brown. She served for 16 years, from 2000-2016, 8 years as the Assistant Coordinator, and 8 years as the Coordinator of the Church of God in Christ International Praise Team “Send Judah First” under the leadership of the International Music Department Ministers of Music, Professor Iris Stevenson McCullough and Dr. Judith Christie McAllister. Sharon was blessed to record a Live Praise and Worship CD in September of 2004 entitled “Make His Praise Glorious.” She has also had the privilege of singing on several recordings, including Judith Christie McAllister's “Sound The Trumpet,” as well as the Tennessee Fourth Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Mass Choir where she led the title track “When I Get There” written by the legendary V. Michael McKay, which she was also blessed and honored to sing at the National Homegoing Celebration of former COGIC Presiding Bishop G. E. Patterson. She was also blessed to sing on the recording project of Pastor Linwood Dillard and the Voices of Citadel. She is currently working on a new project hopefully to be released in early 2024. Sharon is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, Brittany Elizabeth and Sophia Antonette. Her desire is to, in all things and at all times, make the praises of God glorious. ***Episode Disclaimer*** We don't shy away from difficult conversations at the SheRecovery Podcast, but this week is a bit different. This week, we are talking about grief. No one is immune from the impact of grief, whether it is the loss of a loved one, the loss of a relationship, or even having to grieve the loss of a dream or an expectation in life that hasn't been fulfilled. We all grieve in one way or another, and for some of you right now, you're in the middle of your grief. Our guest speaker for this episode Melissa Moore is no stranger to grief but she's also a sister in recovery from pornography addiction. We give this disclaimer because it is easy to want to shy away from conversations like this because it is easier to just talk about the porn and those tangible issues. It is harder to talk about conditions of the heart—yet it is the conditions of the heart that more often than not keep us going back to porn, sex, what have you. So please engage in this conversation and if you need to talk with someone, you can always schedule a free phone consultation at livingonpurposekc.com to speak with one of our staff counselors. In S2E5 of the SheRecovery Podcast, you'll hear from Melissa Moore. In this interview, Melissa opens up about her experience with grief as the result of three miscarriages and the loss of her mother to suicide—while also carrying the burden of a pornography addiction. Melissa candidly explains how a long term relationship with pornography and masturbation (even while married) became coping skills for her pain and grief. But not all is hopeless. Listen as Melissa shares how she went from just coping to finding real healing emotionally and spiritually. Melissa is a Christian writer, women's speaker, and the host of the Faith Hope Love Show—where women grow together in their faith, increase in hope, and learn how to better love God and love other people. She is actively involved as the Assistant Coordinator of the Gateway MOPS/MOMSnext program, supports women grieving miscarriages at her local church, and teaches at various women's events in the Central Valley of California. Let’s face it, people tend to get into those awkward moments the second they notice you have a chronic illness or disability. Truly, it’s the metaphorical elephant in the room, and it feels taboo for most people without connections to illness/disability to talk about. This third themed-group of episodes is called “So We’re Gonna Get Talking About Taboo Topics” so we can tackle head-on all the major topics surrounding illness/disability that are often too uncomfortable for others. Our special guests from around the world have found a knack for tackling the taboo and making it mainstream. We’re so lucky our first guest is also a Global Brand Leader AND a multi-award winning blogger from Leeds, England, Chloe Tear. While being a university student, and always being an activist for others living with cerebral palsy like herself, Chloe has built a master activism style that’s all about normalizing chronic illness/disability as more than the sole identify for a person. In this episode, Chloe and Dominique break through the stigmas of interacting in the public as a young person with disability while also laying out top ways to regain control of your interactions by letting people know it’s okay to live with illness/disability, build a master toolkit to life as a young adult with health struggles that are filled with apps, tools and portable medical equipment that’ll make your daily life massively easier, examine how laughter isn’t just a motivator but also a key ingredient in advocating for yourself in public—by using Chloe’s sassy informative tweets as a guidebook—and get in deep on the ways you can keep the power living with health struggles whether you want to answer those ‘ignorantly uncomfortable’ questions about your health or you want to keep your silence to prove your confidence with your version of normality. This episode is PACKED with life tips and tricks to erasing the taboo of being a young adult with illness/disability, and making sure you are in control when those random strangers or friends stare too much or ask the occasional ‘dumb’ questions. [Pictuered above Joe Rakowski, Joe Tranchitella and Dave Wagner] ASA-PA Super Saturday Training Event, Saturday, October 14th, 2017. Held at the Automotive Training Center in Warminster, PA Two distinct training tracks for business owners and technicians with a compliment of industry vendors. Vendors – 31 Classes – 19 Attendees – 248 Covering 13 different states and Canada Super Saturday Leadership Team: Joseph Rakowski Event Chairman Savage Automotive and The Hybrid Shop Philadelphia, PA Joe has a computer and electrical background. From 1990 – 2003 he fixed flight simulators for the Navy and Marines. During that time period, there was a lot of base closure’s and squadron’s deactivated. Joe needed to change careers, so when the phone call came from his pop it was perfect timing. Joe’s dad had a business opportunity. The guy he worked for thirty years, wanted out. So Joe and his dad bought the business and his on-the-job training began. Joe never went to an automotive school, every bit of his learning was OJT. It worked out great for Joe and the shop because cars became so computerized that it was right up Joe’s area of expertise. The shop started programming and doing a lot of work that no other shops wanted to do. Joe works to keep his shop ahead of the curve, by staying up with equipment, training and technology. In the last couple of years Joe has migrated into the office and he really only gets to play with Hybrid batteries. Joe Tranhitella Event Co-Chairman Joe & Sons Auto Repair Perkasie, PA Joe’s dad, known as Joe Senior, opened J&F Texaco in 1969. There Joe’s love for cars exploded. As a very young kid Joe loved cars, so because of his dad’s shop, his automotive life was about to begin. Joe started by pumping gas, washing windows & pushing a broom. He also had a small car detailing business during the summers at the shop and he also had a lawn service business for 20 years. In 1985 Joe started working for his Dad full time. He got his safety & Emission License and attended many Allen Test Product Classes. As any son knows working with your Dad can be tough. In late 1989 Joe and his dad parted ways but still communicated…especially for Mom. In 1992, Joe and his dad got back together as business partners. I renamed the shop: Joe & Sons’ Auto Repair. In the mid 90’s Joe started to take ASE tests. He became an ASE master technician & a certified Emissions Repair Tech. In 2006 Joe signed-up with coaching company ATI. He was active with that organization for over 3 years because he knew that he needed to learn more about running the business. Joe attended his first Super Saturday event in 2013. He partnered with Joe Rakowski and Dave Wagner because they always spoke highly of the importance of education at events like Vision and the TST Big Event. So in late 2015 he became involved with ASA and in 2016 Joe went to his first Vision with the ‘Savage Crew’. He was hooked. In July 2017 Joe bought & started a second location, “Joe & Sons at Seven Corner Auto Repair”. Dave Wagner Event Co-Chairman Automotive and Hybrid/EV Technician Savage Automotive Philadelphia, PA Dave Wagner is a technician working at Savage Automotive Technologies in Northeast Philadelphia. There he has continued his education. Dave is an ASE CMAT, L1, L2, L3, the Assistant Coordinator for Delaware Training Group and an EV/Hybrid tech. Dave started as so many techs did changing oil at his uncle’s shop on weekends when he was 12 years old. He started the professional side of his career as a tech in dealerships in 1996. Dave is currently working with a mentor to become an instructor to help teach and motivate others to want to learn what this industry has to offer. Sustainable Agriculture at Fleming College (Deconstructing Dinner in our Schools IV) Deconstructing Dinner is excited to share with our listeners an amazing new agriculture program for new farmers being offered at Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario. The proposed curriculum touches on many of the areas of focus that Deconstructing Dinner has shared since the show was launched in 2006. The Sustainable Agriculture program appears like an ideal way for any unexperienced and interested new farmers to be introduced to many of the critical pieces necessary to launch a profitable and sustainable farm business. The Local Grain Revolution XI (Sailing Grain Year 2) Another exciting weekend has come and gone for the Kootenay Grain Community Supported Agriculture project. Between October 15-18, 2009, a fleet of 11 sailboats made their way from the city of Nelson to the Creston Valley of British Columbia to once again pick up a cargo of locally grown grains and transport it back to Nelson. Launching today's episode, we recap the second year of this exciting stage in the evolution of this local grain project that Deconstructing Dinner has been documenting now for over 2 years. Guests Matt Lowe, co-founder, Kootenay Grain CSA (Nelson, BC) - When not volunteering his time for the CSA, Matt Lowe is the Assistant Coordinator in the produce department at the Kootenay Country Store Co-operative and a Climate Change Campaigner for The West Kootenay EcoSociety. Helen Knibb, coordinator, Sustainable Agriculture, Fleming College (Lindsay, ON) - Helen grew up in rural England and worked on farms there. After arriving in Canada, Helen led the program in museum management and worked on curriculum development. Her passion for farming and rural life led her to purchase a farm and later conceive the Sustainable Agriculture program. Tom Hutchinson, instructor, Sustainable Agriculture, Fleming College (Indian River, ON) - Tom has been teaching courses in sustainable agriculture at Trent University for over 20 years. He is a member of the Sustainable Agriculture program advisory committee. He breeds Cotswold sheep, heritage poultry and pigs and has done extensive work with heritage breeds and seeds. He is the director of Rare Breeds Canada. Sue Chan, instructor, Sustainable Agriculture, Fleming College (Lakefield, ON) - Sue Chan has been developing the Sustainable Agriculture modules around the principles of sustainable agriculture (soils, soil amendments, composting, weed management). She is an apiarist and studied agriculture at McGill University.
