Duck hunters love to debate season dates and often, those opinions line up perfectly with their own decoy spread. But for those who manage habitat, timing isn't just about convenience; it's about biology, migration timing, and season-long sustainability for private and public land duck hunters. Aligning habitat strategies with season frameworks requires balance, collaboration, and a deeper understanding of what ducks need—and don't—before, during, and after the season.Plus, David Schuessler, Ducks Unlimited's National Director of Event Fundraising, joins us to talk about DU's Into the Vault Auction — where hunters and collectors alike can bid on rare waterfowling treasures old and new, with every dollar supporting the wetlands and wildlife we all depend on.>>>Thanks to our sponsors: Tom Beckbe, Lile Real Estate, Perfect Limit Outdoors, Purina Pro Plan, Sitka Gear, Greenhead: The Arkansas Duck Hunting Magazine, Diamond M Land Development, and Ducks Unlimited.Send us a textAll Rights Reserved. Send us a textThe grind behind a flawless camo finish is real, and we're finally ready to show you why our GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Marsh and Timber camouflage patterns boats look the way you always wanted them to. We share how scaling stencils to a full hull changes everything, why color tuning on big surfaces is brutal, and what it took to make a factory paint job that actually matches your Sitka kit. If you've been settling for solid colors because patterned boats never lined up, that compromise ends here—Marsh is right behind Timber for those open-water and coastal hunts. We also pull back the curtain on a tight, 100-piece run of custom RNT Mondo calls. Clean bone colorway, crisp branding, and the kind of exclusivity collectors hunt down all year. These calls drew a crowd even during the build, and we've got fun twists planned around serial numbers, giveaways, and how to snag one before they disappear. Think heirloom gear you'll still be proud of a decade from now, whether it lives on your lanyard or your shelf.Safety isn't an afterthought. Our new life jackets match your camo and fit like something you won't rip off mid-run. Once you dial the straps, they stay put, go on without twists, and use an auto-inflate trigger you can trust. At $239.99, you get real comfort, solid construction, and a look that blends with your boat instead of clashing. We round things out with rugged bag boards built for camp life, plus fresh hats, hoodies, and shirts hitting the gear shop. Join Dr. Mike Brasher and his long-time friends and colleagues—Dr. Mark Vrtiska, Dr. Brian Davis, and Dr. Scott Stephens—for an entertaining discussion on how daily bag limits shape hunter expectations, influence waterfowl behavior, and ultimately affect hunter satisfaction. From friendly banter to hilarious hunting stories, this episode investigates the complex interplay between regulations and human psychology, while considering why a “perfect bag limit” may be more elusive that it seems. After a lengthy off-season, duck season is cracking open up north and knocking on the door down south. Reports out of Canada and the Dakotas are all over the map—mallards are spotty up there, but a few are finally filtering into Arkansas and beyond. In an era when unity could be our greatest asset, duck hunters seem increasingly divided not just over tactics but also over identity, ethics, and access. In this thought-provoking episode, Brent and Cason unpack the growing tensions within the waterfowling community and where that energy could be better spent. Some of these debates carry weight, while others are rooted more in opinion than impact. From public vs. private land access to gear choices and regional rivalries, the hosts explore the key issues fueling division and, more importantly, challenge listeners to consider the bigger picture. This episode is a timely call for collaboration over competition because the true measure of a waterfowler isn't where or by what method they hunt, but how they contribute to the future of the sport.>>>Thanks to our sponsors: Tom Beckbe, Lile Real Estate, Perfect Limit Outdoors, Purina Pro Plan, Sitka Gear, Greenhead: The Arkansas Duck Hunting Magazine, Diamond M Land Development, and Ducks Unlimited.Send us a textAll Rights Reserved. Most duck hunters live off coffee--it's as natural as breathing. Jay Peterson and Buck Heath built a brand around it. They share how a couple hunting buddies turned an early morning ritual into a Dirty Duck Coffee lifestyle brand. From first ducks shot and mentors to the first roasts they sold, they spin stories of duck camp culture, campfires, how their blends have become part of the hunt itself, scaling, and new products in the pipeline. It's a story about friendship, business, the fuels that keep waterfowls--and their spouses--going. And caffeine. Lots of caffeine.
