With her voice, guitar, flute, she moves between folk, pop, and experimental sound, writing songs that are inquiries into both personal and collective experiences. Her works serve as existential reflections on finding magic and purpose within the ordinary, and prayers for collective liberation. Her debut album What Holds Us Together? (2022) is a sonic journey that synergizes folk, pop, experimental soundscapes and poetry, weaving a tapestry of ancestry, identity, ecological reverence and social justice. During her 2023 residency at What Lab, Lefan developed Unsent Letters: To Whom It May Concern, an experimental theatrical performance/installation, diving into the cyclical nature of interpersonal relationships, attachment, memories, and the subconscious. The five songs featured in this story are recorded, to be released as an EP in Fall 2024. In recent years, Lefan has performed at TAIWANfest Vancouver, Jade Music Fest, Dragon Boat Festival, Vines Arts Festival, Vancouver Mural Festival, and across Taiwan on a joint tour with Tennyson King in April 2024. She aslo works as a sound designer for theatre productions, and 4DSOUND technician at Lobe Spatial Sound Studio. https://www.instagram.com/van_lefan/ https://www.vanlefan.com/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/7LdEZUBkvOApfi9aqI15G2 https://www.youtube.com/@VanLefan https://www.facebook.com/vanlefan.arts

Indie rocker Tennyson King returns to the DTP to chat about his new album 'Good Company'!    Good Company is based on Tennyson's experiences with group and solo travel, exploration, nature, the ocean, backpacking, culture, hostel stay-overs, relationships, connections with people, and taking the time to enjoy life and embrace the moment.    The album was recorded in Toronto at RHC Studios in the heart of the pandemic. With Tennyson's tours cancelled, it left him grounded, and provided a unique opportunity to focus and work on his craft with Citrullo, first virtually and then as restrictions eased, in studio.   We also dive behind the funny & physical music video for 'It Ain't Easy', the ‘Life On Shore' video game, getting the chance to tour again this past summer, the importance of being in good company, & much more!   Watch the video version:   Connect with Tennyson King! —-- Website:   Bandcamp:   Spotify:   Apple:   Amazon:   Youtube:   Facebook:   IG:   Twitter:   TikTok:   —--   Connect with Colton Gee & the Desert Tiger Podcast ----- Pick up Desert Tiger Merch @   Follow Colton Gee & Desert Tiger   -----

Tennyson King performs “Coast”----------This episode was produced at “The Gallery at Queens Park” in New Westminster. The Arts Council of New Westminster acknowledges that we are located on the unceded and traditional territory of the Coast Salish peoples; specifically the Qayqayt Nation. In past years, we have gathered on Thursday evenings, enjoying live music, arts activities, and meeting our neighbours on the festival lawn. Now, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for physical distancing during this past Summer, the 2020 Music by the River Festival has been reimagined and presented through this medium. While we need to stay physically apart for the safety of our community, your Arts Council is innovating to bring us together by sharing the works of artists that live among us. The ArtsNW podcast is a production of the Arts Council of New Westminster and is brought to you by generous funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage, the BC Arts Council, the City of New Westminster, and listeners like you. This episode is a part of a series of eight episodes that seek to build community through arts and heritage by presenting musicians from our community. Wouter Marijne is a singer-songwriter from Utrecht, The Netherlands. After more than 100 gigs with his band Sailing To Suez, he finally has found some time to fulfill one of his dreams: creating a solo EP. This record, called “Laughing Man” was inspired by singer-songwriters such as Jeff Buckley, Pete Doherty, John Mayer and Ryan Adams but also by bands like Oasis, The Smiths and R.E.M. Because of this, attention is being paid on strong choruses rather than songs for tearing up, and funky guitar playing instead of epic harmonica solo's. It all should remain a little rock 'n roll, anyway. Tennyson King – it’s a name that evokes notions of classic, literary depth and majesty. But it also has the hallowed ring of the gritty, earthy roots of rock and roll. Songwriters Guild Live is a weekly radioshow in Amsterdam, focussed on singers who write songs. This week your host was Rufus Kain.
