Released on November 7th, 2025, Shatter & Bloom is Stellvris' explosive new EP, blending raw emotion, melody, and heaviness into a powerful statement of modern metal strength. Since forming in 2019, the European metal outfit have built their brand around honesty and emotional depth, exploring pain but also how to turn that pain into power. Here on their new EP, Shatter & Bloom, they deliver their most intense statement yet. We loved it. Describing it as: A high-energy, intense, and creative record. When you pack so many ideas, components, and genre switches into a release — and even within individual songs — there's always a risk of losing some listeners. But Stellvris manage to strike a balance, especially between the electronic elements and the more traditional instrumentation. What's clear is that this band has real talent: powerful rhythm work, strong guitar and bass tones, and a remarkably versatile vocalist. They know how to use those strengths intelligently, and the crisp production ensures every detail shines through. The result is a modern, ambitious, and fiercely engaging release from a band that looks set to achieve huge things. Read the full review here: https://www.gbhbl.com/ep-review-stellvris-shatter-bloom-self-released/ The EP has depth, and that is what we explore with vocalist Nicol Hofman. Digging into the detail of the EP, the journey to its release, evolving the Stellvris sound, what the future looks like, and so much more. State of the Arts Episode 259 is now available for streaming on Spotify! I am thrilled to welcome IMDB-credited actor Victor E. Chan to my podcast this week. A talented actor and vocalist I recently had the chance to see in the Off-Broadway musical “This Is Not a Drill” by Holly Doubet and Joseph McDonough. This was a powerful production that spotlights an underreported crisis in Hawaii, honors Hawaiian culture, and exposes the unfair appropriation embedded in tourist areas, which makes this episode a great fit for my Indigenous People's Series. My accomplished guest's career spans from film to television to the stage. He has been in many productions, including “Finding Nemo” the musical, a park production of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and the TV series “NCIS: Los Angeles”. Tune in for a riveting episode with this versatile creative whom I am honored to have on my podcast this week!

Master violinist/vocalist/composer L. Shankar (aka Shenkar) has spent the past four decades developing a personal style that ranges from strict Indian classical music to Western instrumental pop although usually he lands somewhere in the middle. Since playing his first solo concert at the age of seven, he has gone on to accompany many of South India's leading vocalists and become a major soloist. Schooled in voice, violin, and the drums, he has composed new ragas and folk songs, and played with countless other master musicians. In the 1970s, with John McLaughlin, Zakir Hussain, Vikku Vinayakram, and Ramnad Raghavan, he co-founded the legendary Indo-jazz group Shakti. In the 1980s, he introduced a custom-made 10-string double violin capable of covering the whole range of the orchestra's string section from violin to double bass. He has collaborated with Frank Zappa and Peter Gabriel and has continued to expand the international audience for Indian music, often combining North Indian (Hindustani) and South Indian (Carnatic) styles, (Robert Browning Associates program notes, 2022). L. Shankar performs original works, in-studio.Set list: 1. Ananda Nadamadum Tillaj Sankara 2. Ganapathiye Varuvaai 3. Shamudu
Pub Choir – it's the new phenomenon taking the internet by storm. It was created by Astrid Jorgensen, a vocalist and conductor who brought her skills to America's Got Talent, getting hundreds of audience members to perform a rendition of Africa by Toto. She tours the world, turning audiences of thousands of amateur singers into incredible choirs, breaking down the melodies into accessible bites. Jorgensen told Ryan Bridge she's tried a lot of songs, and while some work out better than others, that's not the important part. “The point of the show for me is that we can make art together in real time.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Melodic and Merciless IN VIRTUE Unveils New Music Video "Desolation Throne"New Album "Age of Legends" Out Nov 2025Los Angeles progressive power metal band In Virtue has dropped another irresistible music video, “Desolation Throne”, in support of their long-awaited concept album "Age of Legends," set to release on November 21st, 2025.“Desolation Throne” is a sonic and emotional powerhouse, channeling the tortured ascent of Sisyphus to a self-made throne of darkness. Vocalist and songwriter Trey Xavier (founder of the website GearGods.net) delivers a commanding performance inspired by Symphony X's Russell Allen, blending gritty cleans with metalcore chugging reminiscent of early Unearth and Killswitch Engage. The track's bridge, Trey's personal favorite moment on the album, dives deep into the character's emotional insecurity and his destructive response to being misunderstood. The video's release marks a major milestone in a journey over a decade in the making. "Age of Legends" is more than an album; it's a cathartic narrative of self-forgiveness, transformation, and rebirth. Inspired by the myth of Sisyphus, the album follows a flawed protagonist seeking redemption not from the gods, but from himself.“It's about releasing ourselves from guilt and regret, because until you do, you can't do any good in the world, for yourself or anyone else,” explains Trey.Musically, "Age of Legends" delivers a unified emotional journey, driven by thunderous riffs, infectious grooves, and cinematic layers that heighten the story's most intense moments, not for show, but for substance. In Virtue's signature sound, heavy, fast, melodic, catchy, and groovy, draws from influences like Soilwork, Amaranthe, Shinedown, Symphony X, and Sonata Arctica, yet carves out its own identity beyond genre conventions.Born from a passion for power metal and a rejection of its fantasy tropes, In Virtue creates music rooted in real-world emotion, personal philosophy, and raw vulnerability.“This album is the full realization of our sound. It's a concept piece that casual listeners can vibe with, but those who dig deeper will find a flawed character fighting for self-forgiveness. It's immersive, cohesive, and meant to be experienced start to finish, with headphones on and the world tuned out,” says frontman Trey. The album's artwork, created by Niklas Sundin (formerly of Dark Tranquillity), depicts Sisyphus breaking free from his eternal punishment, a visual metaphor for the album's core theme of self-liberation.Fans can immerse themselves in the world of In Virtue through the “Desolation Throne” video, an uncompromising glimpse into the soul of a band that refuses to play by the rules.Watch the music video via its premiere on MetalInsider HERE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXv06-7rg2wClick Here to Subscribe to The Adventures of Pipeman for PERKS, BONUS Content & FREE GIVEWAYS! Vocalist/guitarist Alan Day of the band Four Year Strong joins the show today to talk about his trio of dogs Bandit, Kipper and Dasher. Bandit is a 12 year old German Shepherd/Lab mix with 8% Chihuahua mixed somewhere in his 80lb body. Kip is his beloved mash up of Husky/Collie/Terrier/Pit who sadly crossed the rainbow bridge in May. And we're lucky enough to get introduced to his new 9 month old dog Dasher who is suspected of being a Black Mouth Cur/Lab/maybe pit mix. Great conversation that captures the true spirit of these different dogs and the compassion Alan has for them. For tour stops and dates visit fouryearstrong.com Alan gave his shout out to Great Dog Rescue New England who are a non-profit, shelterless, all-breed rescue group headquartered in Massachusetts comprised of volunteers from all over New England who love dogs and want to help those that end up homeless through no fault of their own. Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Nad Sylvan (lead singer with Steve Hackett's band) joins Phil Aston to unpack his new solo album Monumentata—a deeply personal work shaped by family, memory, grief, and resilience. Nad explains how his music arrives fully formed in his head, why lyrics come last, and how a painful moment with his father became the seed for the title track. He also talks about adapting his voice for Genesis classics, the emotional power of live shows (including a moving “Supper's Ready” moment in Italy), and the stubborn self-belief that kept him creating for forty years.Featuring song insights (“Secret Lover,” “Flowerland,” “Wildfire,” “That's Not Me,” “Monumentata”) and tour notes ahead of the USA run with Steve Hackett.Phil Aston | Now Spinning Magazine

Charmaine Lee '14's music might be unlike anything you've ever heard before. Lee grew up in a musical family and studied jazz at Princeton along with sociology. She also sang with one of Princeton's a cappella groups, and the experience inspired her to carve out an innovative niche as a vocalist in the world of auditory art. Right now, she's on a tour of 60 shows through all 50 states, and she has a new album out, titled “Tulpa.” Lee agreed to come on the PAWcast and discuss how and why she creates her art — and share some of it as well.

Vocalist, songwriter and Grammy Award-winning artist Mike Farris is on the show today. Mike has this incredible new record out called “The Sound Of Muscle Shoals” that he recorded at the legendary Fame Studios with Rodney Hall (the son of Fame founder Rick Hall - the guy who is largely responsible for creating the Muscle Shoals sound that we all know and love). Mike has had an incredible career, from his early days in the insanely wild and high energy band The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, Mike honed his skills as an incredible frontman and vocalist, but as we talk about today, he feels like he never really learned to sing until he started making solo records in 2001. Since that time, Mike has continued to evolve as an incredible singer whose voice and delivery pull from soul, gospel, country and rock n roll - and all of them very convincingly, as only someone who has truly lived the life can. His 2014 album “Shine For All The People” won a Grammy award, and Mike has been consistently recording and touring the world for decades. I wanted to hear from Mike about his songwriting, how he captures his voice in the studio, how his travels (which include some incredibly rocky patches) have brought him to where he is today, and how he feels like a bit of a misfit in a world where people love to peg musicians under a certain style. We also get into the nuts and bolts of making his new album, and the legacy that he feels working in such a sacred space with incredible musicians.Mike has quite a few albums out under his own name and the Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies albums are also well worth hearing. But do check out the new record “The Sound Of Muscle Shoals” - it's an incredible listen. You can catch Mike on tour and get all the latest info at mikefarrismusic.comEnjoy my conversation with Mike Farris! This season is brought to you by our main sponsors Larivée Guitars, Audeze, Izotope, FabFilter, and Chase Bliss. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
