What a dangerous time we live in when the President personally attacks artists for speaking against America's current fascist regime. The Boss (Bruce Springsteen) spoke truth to power at a recent London show while Taylor Swift weathered another round of the President's weird obsession with her. Tawny and Lisa talk about why they love both artists and how their music has impacted their recoveries. They discuss everything from Ryan Adams covering 1989 to Springsteen's inspiration from Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. And shout out to Neil Young, Eddie Vedder, Jack Antonoff, and all the artists out there speaking up! Music Minute features both artists! Chelsea and Death, Sex & Money host Anna Sale dive into Lucinda Williams's memoir “Don't Tell Anybody the Secrets I Told You.” They explore the Southern women who influenced Lucinda's life, her late-in-life rise to fame, and the time Rosanne Cash tried to glam her up for the Grammys (and Lucinda ghosted). Plus: age-gap relationships, Rick Rubin's album power play, and an odd cameo from Ryan Adams. S8E6 went out live from Sedgefield at 19h00 on 6 Feb 2025. It was great to be back doing a live show. The Rock and Metal Time Machine looked at 4 events: The Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 1964, Jimi Hendrix on ToTP's, The Clash signing to CBS, and Bon Scott's last-ever song with ACDC. The Immortals was mellow with Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Diabolical Challenge was p@#s heavy with four albums produced by Ross Robinson, the godfather of Nu-Metal. Slipknot, Sepultura, Korn, and Machine Head did the honours. Artists featured: Ryan Adams, Eagles, Thin Lizzy, Pantera, Hellyeah, Joe Bonamassa, Kid Rock, Counting Crows, Dio, Black Sabbath, Michael Schenker Group, The Winery Dogs, Alice Cooper, Saxon, U.D.O., BlackØwl, Black Stone Cherry, Seether, Accept, Rory Gallagher, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Clash, ACDC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Korn, Machine Head, Slipknot, Sepultura, LIVE, Tremonti, Rush, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Arch Enemy, The Gaslight Anthem. British, Devon-born singer-songwriter Daniel Schamroth is celebrated for his stripped back, soulful, indie folk anthems. His lo-if sound sits somewhere between the worlds of Noel Gallagher, Ryan Adams, and Neil Young, paying homage to these influences while carving out his own emotionally charged style. Schamroth's music is certain to connect with audiences through his raw storytelling and introspective lyrics. His latest release is an acoustic track titled "Skyscraper," released by independent label So, Let's Talk. "Skyscraper" is an intimate stripped-back acoustic home demo recording, written by Schamroth himself, and produced by Tom Greenwell. The songwriter shares, “Skyscraper was written in the early throes of romance, when you first meet someone. You feel like the world's your oyster and you're out exploring that secret world together, feeling unstoppable and full of possibility.”“Skyscraper” emits a raw edge with a melancholic tone. Featuring just a simple guitar melody and Schamroth's emotion-fuelled vocals, the track proves that less is more.
Baxie talks with 7-time Grammy Award nominee Ryan Adams! Widely considered to be one of the greatest songwriters of his generation, Ryan's career has been marked with both amazing accomplishments and very public controversies. Yet, his output of music continues to be astounding--releasing more than 30 albums over the last 24 years. This includes the five albums that he released on the same day earlier this year! He's also about to finally release his long overdue (but heavily bootlegged) album "Blackhole"--a record that has been shelved in 2006! This is a very rare but wide-ranging interview. Ryan talks about his music, songwriting, creativity, performing live, baseball, cancel culture, and about the controversy surrounding the allegations waged against him in 2019 by the New York Times! You can listen on Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud, Spotify, Rock102.com, and on the Rock102 app. Brought to you by Metro Chrysler Dodger Jeep Ram of Chicopee

Jesse Malin is about as New York as you can get. How New York is he? Well, he's in a Martin Scorsese movie for starters. Jesse got his start in the hardcore band Heart Attack before pivoting to the rough and ready D-Generation in the ‘90s. After that band's demise, Jesse made an even harder pivot when he turned to his acoustic guitar and released the Ryan Adams-produced THE FINE ART OF SELF DESTRUCTION — in effect, reinventing himself as a rock and roll troubadour and NYC ambassador. And then about a year and a half ago, Jesse suffered a rare spinal stroke that threatened his ability to ever walk again. But in true LIFER fashion —and with the help of his community and his friends— Malin has soldiered on and is gearing up for a pair of benefit shows at the Beacon Theater on December 1st and 2nd that will mark his return to the stage. It's a pleasure to have Jesse on the show this week to put some shit into perspective for us and talk about Johnny Thunders, CBGB's, Bruce Springsteen, Ian Hunter, “Bringing Out The Dead”, Green Day, Rickie Lee Jones and a WHAT'S THE BEST?!? with The Clash. The future is unwritten, everybody!
This native of Ohio has carved out a 30 year career in Nashville with songs cut by Trisha Yearwood, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Radney Foster. And her sought-after voice has appeared on albums by Jason Isbell and Ryan Adams.
Send us a textDave and I discuss the music business, how sometimes giving up on a dream for a bit can be the best, and more.******LIFE OF A "LONG PLAYER"After a 25-year hiatus, long-time rocker Dave Lebental returned to his musical roots and started to investigate the modern music landscape. He quickly realized he was a modern-day Rip Van Winkle who had awoken into a different musical world than the one he left. Digital recording, digital distribution, and social media have all made it much easier to be an independent artist. He started writing new songs on his acoustic guitar and learning how to record them in his home studio. The byproduct of these self-produced recording sessions is Dave Lebental's debut solo LP entitled “The Long Player”. The LP is a collection of 11 Americana, Blues, and Rock tracks. Now 62 years old, Lebental says his songs and sound owe a debt to James Taylor, Ryan Adams, The Eagles, Tom Petty, and The Beatles.Band - the Driftwood SoulsWebsite: https://dlmusic.us/******If you would like to contact the show about being a guest please email us at Dauna@bettertopodcast.comThis episode is on YouTube: https://youtu.be/XupS8aeNd3k Follow us on Social MediaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/author_d.m.needom/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bettertopodcastwithdmneedomHave a question or want to be a guest on the podcast email: dauna@bettertopodcast.comHave a question for our producer Rich Zei contact him at rich.zei@thirdearaudio.comIntro and Outro music compliments of Fast SuziTo see upcoming guests click here: https://www.dmneedom.com/better-topodcast©2024 Better To...Podcast with D. Alternative rock musician David Raybuck released a powerful new single, "He Knows YourName," on November 1, 2023. This spiritually charged song offers solace and hope to those grapplingwith the weight of suicidal thoughts. "He Knows Your Name" is not just a song; it's a lifeline, a messageof love, and a reminder of the intrinsic worth every individual possesses.Inspired by the profound words of Psalm 139, which declare that we are wonderfully made and knownby God, this song encourages listeners to call on God for salvation and freedom from hopelessness. In aworld where far too many people believe they are a worthless and meaningless accident, DavidRaybuck offers a compelling counter-narrative found in scripture: that God is the one who createdyou, and he did not make a mistake by doing so.“He Knows Your Name” is the latest example of David Raybuck's unconventional use ofsecular-sounding music with lyrics that point people to God. Emotive melodies are woven togetherwith styles reminiscent of influential artists like Ryan Adams, Coldplay, and Tom Petty to create anexperience that is both catchy and unique. "I am very excited about this song because I believe God isgoing to use it to save lives, both physically and spiritually," says David Raybuck.(Check into the other songs David is releasing throughout the months in 2024. Check on Spotify or SoundCloud) David Raybuck David Raybuck is the prodigal singer-songwriter of spiritual alt-rock for music freaks, and he is on amission to help people encounter their Creator through music. With far too much generic and darkmusic in the world, David wants to reach the ears of music lovers who are stirred by original songs withundeniable beauty and creativity. He draws from the influences of incredible artists like Radiohead,The Beatles, Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Ween, Led Zeppelin, Elliot Smith, Supergrass, Air,Failure and many others to create music that is catchy yet unique, with flavorings of alternative rock, folk, grunge, & Americana that sound nothing like what people would expect from “Christian music”.While David is relatively new to the independent music scene at the age of 42, he has been writingmusic since his teenage years. In his youth, his musical efforts were selfishly motivated and led himdown a destructive path. But after rejecting Christianity for most of his life, David realized the error ofhis ways in his early 30s and is now dedicated to serving God and sharing his life-changing messagewith others.David lives with his wife Lindsay near Cleburne, Texas just south of Fort Worth, and he is a father ofseven children, pastor at a local church, and professional computer nerd. In the limited amount oftime these roles have spared him, he has continued to write a lot of music over the years, and now it isfinally time to spread it. David produced his debut 14-song album, The Prodigal, in his modest homestudio in 2022. Showbiz Now Magazine called it “one of the most idiosyncratic songwritingcollections released in recent memory as well as one of the finest gospel-themed albums in thelast quarter century.” David is currently working on his second album and is committed to releasingmuch more work in the future by drawing from new inspiration and over two decades of unfinished material.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DavidRaybuckMusicianInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/david.raybuck/YouTube:: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9TnXx2Vx6OOCRnjccARp1A

Soon after seeing it, I understood its significance by seeing Buck play an identical one on the Hee Haw television show. Later, via the influence of Dwight Yoakam, Emmylou Harris, and the Desert Rose Band in the 1980s, I would dig back and start listening to all of the great albums that Owens made through the 50s and 60s that in turn influenced my heroes. Through the years, I kept looking for one, but one was never up for sale nearby, as I really wanted to see what this Harmony-made mail-order guitar was like. It wasn't until recently that I was able to test out and acquire one of these red, white, and blue beauties from one of the fine chaps at Glaser Instruments, and I was able to finally join the “Buck Club.” This of course threw me down the rabbit hole of finding out everything that I could online from sites like SilvertoneWorld.Net and even calling up Buckaroo Jim Shaw, who continues to run Buck's Crystal Palace club in Bakersfield, CA to get the full low-down on the story behind it. And though Owens is certainly the star here, I have to give Pat Smear of Nirvana, and the great Ryan Adams credit for their role in raising the “cool” factor on these crazy 70s creations. To close the episode, I share the story that Jim Shaw shared with me that they sold hundreds of warehoused versions of the Buck models to cover their expenses during the pandemic. It was hard for me not to see this as Owens working things out from beyond the grave. Special thanks to Buckaroo Jim Shaw, and Buck Owens' Crystal Palace.www.BuckOwens.comAlso for the wonderful information gathered from Silvertone World.https://www.silvertoneworld.net/acoustic/1219buckowens/1219_Buck_Owens_American.html#askzac #buckowens #buckowensamericanSupport the show

I've said before that one of my biggest musical influences, period, is Ryan Adams. I suppose I should probably say “was” Ryan Adams. From the time I was 12 until probably 2015 or so, I was an enormous supporter of his music. I had all the albums, some of the books, a lot of the 45s, I even went to his art show at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in 2009. I still have a print of one of this paintings hanging on my wall. But when the New York Times published a Me Too article about him in 2019, I just…stopped listening. This week, I dive into the rise and fall of Ryan Adams and how he may have spent his ninth life in 2019. Or, who knows, maybe he has another one on the way. Support Get Offset by... 150 Episodes of the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast! This week, John is joined by good friend and hunting partner Ryan Adams. John has been blessed to join Ryan and his family at a few of their deer camps over the years, and his family is a big reason why John enjoys whitetail hunting so much today. Ryan grew up in a hunting family, but they had always leased land to hunt until a few years ago when they were able to purchase their own piece of property. Ryan talks about some of the big differences between owning and leasing land, and how it took more getting used to than he thought it would. He also talks about what a big change it was going from sandy brush country to lush oak ridges, and how it was a completely different type of hunting, even though they were after the same animal. This week on Name 3 Songs… ⚡️ Fangirl Nonsense: Florence Pugh dresses as Guy Fieri for Halloween and looks like everyone's annoying cousin. Olivia Rodrigo reveals the alternate lyrics for “All-American Bitch.” Jacob Elordi says he only knew about Elvis from Lilo and Stitch, and also he can hold a whole book with one palm? ⚡ Lance Bass says we all should have forgiveness for Justin Timberlake. This comes as a surprise since Lance is known to be a close friend of Britney, previously speaking out against her conservatorship. All of this leads us to assume Lance is playing peacekeeper in the midst of a N'SYNC reunion. ⚡The much-anticipated 1989 Taylor's Version has arrived and it is opening a lot of doors to the past. Many of Taylor's Vault tracks have direct ties to Harry Styles, revealing much more about their relationship than we ever knew. Taylor's approach to 1989 differed from her previous history of writing breakup songs about men – instead she shifted her focus to a glittery pop record about being in her 20s. There was no room for songs about Harry being a questionable romantic partner. We discuss why Taylor left these songs off of 1989 and how they would have changed the trajectory of her career. We also examine the societal conversation around 1989 when it was released in 2014, how the album gained male popularity after Ryan Adams covered the entire album, and how rudimental feminism ties into all of this.
