Avenue Red regular and all-round top guy Andy Green, perhaps best known under his DJ/label name, Verdant Recordings, is back with his 7th contribution for us. We were surprised to notice that 1,162 days have passed since his previous one however, which was Podcast episode 122 on the eve of New Year's Eve in 2019. Here Andy has taken another fresh deep dive into his epic record collection especially for Avenue Red, digging out some old and new deep house & techno cuts that are then impulsively mixed, rubbed and spiced together on his flashy new audiophile rotary mixer. Here we have a prestigious 2-hour trip of astonishing quality and vibrancy, which intelligently pulls together many disparate documents from the deep end. "Always a pleasure and increasingly a challenge to put together a set for Avenue Red as it esteemed reputation is acknowledged. I recorded this back in the dingier cold nights of January with the intention of serving up something uppish and a measure of joy. And yes, this wasn't planned out too carefully, just sequencing some tracks as they came to mind. The Vince Watson DNA Resequenced LP and Steve O'Sullivan's collaborations projects are (still) getting my attention here so I had to include those alongside Priori and Eversines who are making amazing music just now. Enjoy and thanks again to Alec and Avenue Red!" Avenue Red welcomes the second coming of the exquisitely tasteful, refined deep house and techno selector from Paris known as Caillou. Here he has delivered a mix not too dissimilar to his first, but has pushed a little deeper into the dreamier, sleepier territories of his unique record collection. "I'd like to thank Alec for the opportunity to contribute again to Avenue Red. I wanted to do something deep and mellow but with tracks that I actually play at parties when I get early morning slots, just pitched down a bit to have a more home listening feel. So all the tracks in there have been tested on dancefloors, but hopefully this is a mix you can listen to at home if you're stuck inside. Shout out to the bosses Matt Pond (https://soundcloud.com/deepsystems) and Cosmicsou (https://soundcloud.com/souhail88) for coining the term Sleephouse, which I think suits this style of house music, and to all the artists featured in here for their amazing and inspiring work. Mr. Andy Green (@verdant-recordings) who are you, shortly? "I`m parent, husband, scientist, chancer, dancer, record collector, music lover and part-time hedonist. I fell in love with bass, hats, smoke and strobes 33 years ago and i still seek out those moments to escape from the constraints of a regular existence….isn’t that the principle aim of club culture and electronic music? Curating @verdant-recordings, and more recently Vertex with Jamie, are my platforms to support the music of talented friends and producers alongside my own vinyl mixes; sharing my love of deep and melodic music in all its guises. With pride we welcome the return of Timeline Music boss, Keith Anderson for his third contribution to the Avenue Red series. This is a seriously tight mix that proves what a great DJ Keith is, both in terms of his technical aptitude and his tastefulness and creativity in the selection, which in this case is almost exclusively made of new 2019 releases. This is a good moment to mention that for the new year and decade in 2020, Avenue Red will begin a new live video-stream show on Keith's Timeline Music platform, which is also home to shows from other Avenue Red titans including Verdant Recordings, OHM, Mihail P, Stephen Sherdel and Josh Lentink. Alec Pritchard will be hosting the show on the first Tuesday of each month from 8pm-10pm GMT. The shows will also be published here on the Avenue Red SoundCloud page for those who cannot tune in live, with full tracklists included. "This is my 3rd mix for Avenue Red going through a selection of new music in my own style. I tried to do something a bit different to my previous efforts, I've put together a mix full of energy and funky grooves. I really hope you enjoy this session!" Andy Green AKA Verdant Recordings is back with his 6th contribution for Avenue Red, delivering a perfect pastel-coloured selection of soothing, introspective, spacey dub techno vibes. We are pleased to see his Verdant Recordings label is building up a head of steam, as just before the turn of the new year we saw the arrival of its 6th release, a 2 x 12" compilation LP simple titled Verdant (link below). Every time Andy Green releases a record on his ever impressive Verdant Recordings imprint, we jump at the chance to listen to the new delight that will no doubt be placed in the ā€œplay immediatelyā€ category. When a label features the likes of John Shima, ESB, Mick Welch and Mihail P this would almost be an obvious thing to do. However Andy's meticulous eye/ear for detail regarding track selection to record design makes Verdant Recordings allure almost impossible to ignore. This same detail is evident in his DJing. In his own words – ā€œtechno, house, electronica, ambient, dub and deepness……….it's all goodā€. We say it's more than that. It's very very good. So for SensuCast no 16 we are delighted to give you Andy Green (Verdant Recordings), a mix you will most probably return to time and time again as proof that all is alive and well in the electronic music community. https://soundcloud.com/verdant-recordings

"It's always a pleasure doing a mix for Avenue Red and I think I'm up to 4 with this set. ā€œAuraā€ is a second release for Verdant Recordings, a UK vinyl label curating new and established artists and their own interpretations of deep electronic music. The 1st EP ā€œEmerald Cityā€ was initially lathe cut as limited run 101 but overwhelming interest in the project demanded a full pressing which was selected by Juno as their single of the week and soon sold out. On the second EP Havantepe and RV800 are reunited after the Subsync EP on Japan’s Formula. They share the wax with UK based Mick Welch and vinyl newcomer from Russia, Low Orbit Satellite. There is a rich thread of deep acid and dubby tones throughout the EP perfectly exemplified by the Havantepe opener ā€œPhosphorā€ which is premiered here. But in truth its hard to pick a highlight off the record with every track sounding unique. The label, run by Andy Green, is working on further releases that includes an exciting line up artists and breadth of music. Andy himself has been collecting and clubbing for 30 years and now distilling that passion and knowledge into this project. For this new Avenue Red podcast episode we welcome DJ and producer Mihail P from the small town of Vinica in Macedonia. Mihail has been a friend of Avenue Red for a couple of years via various music-related circles and we see he has a strong passion for the deeper, more emotive shades of electronic music like we do. And most importantly of all, he demonstrates great taste and the knowledge of a true crate digger! However, until recently we had not heard much output from the mysterious moustached Macedonian. He has gathered some due recognition via his contribution to the excellent debut release on Verdant Recordings - the Emerald City EP, which we think to be a bona fide 5-* 4-tracker, with his work featuring alongside tracks from John Shima, Plant43 and Leigh Dickson of the Transition Crew. Release information here: https://www.discogs.com/Various-Emerald-City/master/1052390. We were very impressed with this mix from Mihail to follow his debut release as a producer, it's just the kind of trip we look to experience here at Avenue Red. Keep an eye out for this man, he has the required skills ;) "For me it's always about the atmosphere that a track provides and how that melts with the current environment. For this mix my initial concept was deep, thoughtful "mind" music. I wanted to capture a really distant vibe in space and time, with glowing pads from the past and the future, coalesced into a sonic vision for a nicely crafted deep mix." We have been sitting on this mix for several weeks and have digested it and ground it down to some sort of atomic-level powder... we expect you to follow suit with this intergalactic mix of deep tunes. "I made this mix a few weeks back, not long after Bloc and during the inevitable comedown that always follows. Music is a powerful mood changer, so this was simply about going through some tunes whilst recording the session. There wasn't any consideration to play 'happy' tunes (I don't have that many!), but it was more about getting into the headspace of genuinely enjoying a deep mix. There's some new tracks here from Frazer Campbell, Evigt Mƶrker, Dorisburg, an amazing remix by Edit-Select just out on Silent Season, which I've really been digging alongside gems from John Daly, Causa and Recondite. Avenue Red is 50!! And to celebrate this milestone of celestial mixed-up electronic music installments we present a hardened veteran from the London House/Techno scene, Keith Anderson. He is the man behind our favourite live-streaming DJ/artist platform, Timeline Music, which is home to Verdant Recordings and Steve S's own respective shows and very notably Brad P & Rai Scott's Mood Sync Radio among a great many talented others. Keith started Timeline Music alongside Terry Mitchell to document futuristic, forward thinking music from both past and present, streaming and cataloguing live and pre-recorded audio/visual performances by DJs from around the world. Timeline Music also has the upfront reviews section, "Quality Control", filtering out the quality forthcoming releases from the ever increasing amount of background noise. After being a huge Hip Hop fan in the mid-80's Keith moved on to listening to Acid House and started digging many forms of Detroit and Detroit-inspired Music. He then bought his first pair of decks a year later and has never looked back. He has played at some of the biggest Techno events in London including Ultimate Bass, Eurobeat 2000, Deep Space, Analogue City and many more. "I have always focussed hard on the technical side of the DJ'ing game... I have always believed that the mixing is just as important as the music. This set shows the Deeper side of things, so hope you enjoy this tunnel experience." Yet again we welcome a DJ back to the stage for Avenue Red Podcast 41, this time with a blinding mix from Verdant Recordings (real name Andy Green) from the much maligned Stevenage near London, an old hotbed of good times from the halycon days of electronic music. This is his second contribution to Avenue Red, following on from his Avenue Red 1210 Mk4 mix, strictly for the connoisseurs (link below). Andy's Verdant Sessions shows on Timeline-Music.net are a great place to discover exciting new releases mixed with old, forgotten gems from his collection and this mix provides a great summary of the kind of music he is focussed on with that project. Andy has also co-founded a new music group and party called Transition along with Stephen Sherdel, Leigh Dickson & Rick Hopkins with a mission to play out "Intergalactic Funk". He's also 1/3 of the SUNK collective, another London night of quality House and Techno. "Not sure I really wanted to achieve anything specific for this Avenue Red mix other than compile 80 minutes of quality tunage to enjoy. A clutch of new records (new Stojche is a beauty), some old house references and perhaps one or two inevitable represses that filled a space in my collection. Deep House, deep Techno, dub inflections... the usual VR vibes." It has been 8 months since we released Dieter Mit Platten's excellent trainspotters selection for the Avenue Red 1210 series, where 12 records are played that are 10+ years old. Now we can update this sister series playlist with a new selection of 12 choice gems from Andy Green AKA Verdant Recordings, who is based in Hitchin, England. "I have been listening to the Avenue Red series for a while and when I spotted the invite to put together a digger's selection it piqued my interest. Frankly, I'm a bit of a junkie for new music and having skipped most of the late 90's for "serious" record collecting this was a good challenge to accept. By default I’m a Deep Techno head but have mellowed into house and more so Dub Techno in recent years, so these selections sit somewhere in that space. The Hexagon is a good example; I bought that on release for the acidic Burning Trash Floor and ignored the B's until much later and much prefer those now. I picked out Daniel Bell's Elevate too since he's partly responsible for developing my taste in recent years. I heard several sets by various DJs within a few months of each other (his at Bloc about 5 years ago) that really made me feel House music in a different way. A gem from John Harvey too, a wonderful producer of emotive deep music which leads onto Delsin; I challenge anyone to find a mediocre release from Marsel. Artemis is my favourite and it blends beautifully with UR's Transitions... but that would have made it 13! Enjoy!"
