Welcome to Season 5 of The Well Read Poem with poet and classicist Thomas Banks. Throughout this season, we will be exploring the poetry of Walter de la Mare. De la Mare was a poet's poet and wrote across a variety of genres but is not as well known today as he deserves to be. Poem begins at timestamp 5:57. All That's Past By Walter de la Mare VERY old are the woods; And the buds that break Out of the briar's boughs, When March winds wake, So old with their beauty are-- Oh, no man knows Through what wild centuries Roves back the rose. Very old are the brooks; And the rills that rise Where snow sleeps cold beneath The azure skies Sing such a history Of come and gone, Their every drop is as wise As Solomon. Very old are we men; Our dreams are tales Told in dim Eden By Eve's nightingales; We wake and whisper awhile, But, the day gone by, Silence and sleep like fields Of amaranth lie.

When March comes around that only means one thing. March Madness. A time where you can sit back and enjoy some great basketball. Personally, I am not a huge college basketball watcher, making me a casual when it comes to college. Today, I give my predictions for March Madness (with some basis), by filling out my bracket. When March hit and my Spring program didn’t create enough revenue for my business I panicked. Am I going to be able to sell a $2,997 program when the country is shut down? Is anyone going to want to invest in their health with my other program? Am I going to lose my W-2 job that pays most of my bills? Well it turns out I did lose my W-2 job.  I am not your typical entrepreneur.  I keep a W-2 job and my business endeavors because part of our investment strategy is investment properties and if you ask any mortgage lender they will tell you that a 100% entrepreneur income is a lot harder to get a loan than when you have that PLUS a nice steady, safe W-2 income. (This is literally a story for another day). So when COVID hit and I lost my job AND my program barely sold, I was left with living off my savings and a panic that I would dry it up. Can we stop here for one second and celebrate that I had savings to live off of?  Also we are a 2 income home and I am not the primary bread winner so we were thankfully not hurting financially. However, my ego was in the toilet. CAN I EVEN DO THIS? I knew that I needed to do something. So I did what most people would never do and put a mastermind on my credit card and pulled up my big girl undies and said I was going to become the person who thrives in a pandemic.  I was going to become the leader of the pack.
