Rollistan: Jackie Chan - Wong Fei-hung Yuen Siu-tien - Chi Su-hua/Sam Seed Hwang Jang-lee - Yan Ti-san/Thunderleg/Thunderfoot #filmsmakarna #jackiechan #drunkenmaster #kampsport #kungfu
Lethal Mullet Podcast Episode 133: Iron Monkey On tonight's episode the Mullet heads into the prequel to the Once Upon a Time in China series: IRON MONKEY. This is a much loved classic, produced by Tsui Hark, directed by action maestro Yuen Woo Ping, and starring Donnie Yen. This is a story about the mythic Robin Hood like figure of the Iron Monkey, who battles corruption, and gives back to the poor. Along with Wong Kae-ying, the father of Wong Fei-hung (the character later to be played by Jet Li), they battle a corrupt city official, and stamp out evil. With some of the best Hung-Gar Kung-fu put to screen, this is some of the best choreography ever done. On this episode we are joined by Jeanette Ward (The Mundane Adventures of a Fangirl) to discuss the martial arts classic "Once Upon A Time In China 2" as Jet Li returns as Wong Fei-hung who this time joins forces with a nationalistic militia to overthrow the colonialist powers intent on taking over China. Best remembered for the showdown between Jet Li and Donnie Yen here making his first leading role appearence a fight that we would have to wait until "Hero" to finally see the rematch between these two legends. We also look at the difference between Hollywood and Hong Kong Action, question why Donnie Yen took so long to be recognised as a master and the evolution of screen combat plus much more!!

This week JD shoots the shit with guest James Xiong. James is a comedian and producer of the How Comedy Works Podcast. A szokásosnál hosszabbra nyújtottuk a távol-keleti harcművészettel foglalkozó blokkunkat, hogy Wong Fei-hung után Ip Man két életrajzi filmjét is összehasonlítsuk. A múlt heti alkotás után az In the Mood for Love rendezője, Wong Kar-wai (magyar átírásban Vong Kar-vaj) filmjét, a 2013-as A nagymestert (The Grandmaster) vizsgáltuk meg. A fő kérdésünk: sikerült-e Wongnak a saját stílusára formálnia a kung fu filmes műfajt.
