Im Rollenspiel werden Abenteuer zu Anthologien zusammengefasst, in der Literatur verschiedene Kurzgeschichten. Aber so ganz am Anfang des Produktionsprozesses haben wir noch gar keine Ahnung, wie das alles funktioniert. Deshalb haben wir uns mit Roxane Bicker eine der erfolgreichsten dt. Anthologie-Herausgeberinnen als Gästin in den Podcast geholt, damit sie uns über all die Arbeitsschritte und Fallstricke aufklärt.

The World of Eora is a news & lore podcast about the fantasy setting created by Obsidian Entertainment for their cRPG series, Pillars of Eternity, and their action RPG: Avowed.This week is more of a "stream of consciousness" talk, with lore discussed throughout. A looooong time ago I talked about infusing the world of Eora into tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons (specifically 5th Edition). However, what if you were playing games more in line with the OSR ("Old School Renaissance") style of play, such as Cairn, which I've recently gotten into. It's a much less measured approach, but one that seems more intuitive...and one that seems easier with Avowed, I might add.So I discuss the biggest ideas in Eora that we see in the games that need to be considered when approaching OSR style TTRPGs. This might be the first in a couple episodes dedicated to this topic, but it won't be a long-running thing, since we want to focus on different lore here over time. In this week's episode, we chat with Max about Seattle-appropriate doula gifts, the TTRPG version of porn brain, and the concept of exploration in TTRPGs. This season, we're experimenting with shorter conversations about how people play games. We first spoke with Max way back in Season 2, and we wanted to keep talking about OSR games, so we convinced Max to come back for another round. This is one of our most game theory-focused interviews, especially when we're talking about incentives and objectives in TTRPGs. If you're interested in why so many older systems treated gold as XP, this episode is for you.Throughout the conversation, Jake and Max both keep saying "D&D". However, the actual system Max is using is Shadowdark.
