Saiu de seu palácio e passou a buscar explicações e soluções para o sofrimento.Através da meditação, ele encontrou a explicação para todas as suas dúvidas e, assim, entendeu o que é a vida. As escrituras dizem que Sidarta apenas permaneceu imóvel diante as investidas de Mara (a ilusão), e então, alcançou a iluminação.Na meditação busca-se cessar a atividade mental ininterrupta, na qual pensamentos e fantasias bloqueiam a experiência direta e intuitiva.Na maior parte do tempo alimentamos pensamentos que podem nos deixar ansiosos, frustrados, com mágoa, raiva, ressentimento ou medo.Tragada por esse vórtice de sensações, nossa atenção perde o foco. É por isso que, muitas vezes, comemos sem sentir o sabor, e olhamos uma pessoa sem vê-la de fato.Por quase meio século, Buda viveu cercado de multidões às quais receitava antídotos para essa dispersão, como a chamada “atenção plena”, prática que consiste em dispensar o máximo de atenção a tudo o que se faz, e que está na base de várias técnicas meditativas.

Prayer & Sin dit la Grèce, la Méditerranée, et plus précisément encore, la mer Egée, l'Asie Mineure et les Balkans, les routes et les détours que seuls savent tracer les musiques et les musiciens.  Une Française et un Grec vivent avec leurs deux filles dans un petit village de Crète. Dafné sait à peine marcher quand son père, amoureux de la mer, ne remonte pas d'une plongée. Sa mère quitte l'île à jamais. Élevée en France, l'enfant grandit en passant tous ses étés en Grèce. Elle en sait la langue, la musique, les danses, le goût du vent, la saveur de la mer. À cinq ans, elle pleure en découvrant Maria Callas. Dès lors, elle sait le sublime du chant qui emporte et la joie des danseurs se tenant les épaules… Elle apprend du chant d'Háris Alexíou (qui « dans sa voix obscure et profonde porte toute la Grèce », dit-elle), d'Aziza Mustafa Zadeh (« pour la virtuosité et la folie »), d'Ella Fitzgerald (« pour le masque de soleil, comme si la vie triomphait toujours »), d'Amália Rodrigues ou de l'enfant-prodige indien Aryya Banik, et elle chemine dans les albums de Ross Daly, multiinstrumentiste d'origine irlandaise devenu grec…  En 2013, elle rencontre un guitariste plutôt armé pour la chanson et le jazz, Paul Barreyre. « Mon âme sœur en musique. Nous commençons à jouer partout, dans les bars, à chaque trajet dans le métro, dans les Noctilien où ça apaise des gens qui se battent. Nous faisons quelque chose de festif, de joyeux, et on nous repère. »  Elle enregistre deux premiers albums, Djoyas de Mar (2018) et Varka (2021) et peu à peu commence à composer ses propres chansons, le répertoire de Prayer & Sin. Son autre complice (et cousin), Camille El Bacha, est le pianiste qui l'accompagne dans les arrangements. Le violoncelliste Sary Khalifé déploie une pâte orchestrale volontiers ample et cinématographique et Sylvain Barou apporte des couleurs terriennes avec des instruments à vent de toute la Méditerranée, la mer Egée et l'ensemble du Moyen-Orient. In his book Anthony Valerio's Semmelweis: The Women's Doctor (Zantedeschi Books, 2019). Valerio details the many struggles Semmelweis faced in winning acceptance for his advice on antiseptic procedures. The son of a Buda spice merchant, Semmelweis started his studies in law before a chance attendance at a medical lecture sparked his interest in becoming a doctor. After earning his degree he decided to specialize in obstetrics, a choice that soon brought him to confront the problem of childbed fever. Deducing that exposure to cadavers was a factor, Semmelweis devised a regimen of hand washing that dramatically reduced the morality rate at the maternity clinic where he worked. Though Semmelweis's treatment was simple, his ideas faced considerable resistance from leading figures in the Western medical community, with the stress from his campaigns to promote his ideas contributing to the institutionalization that led to his death in 1865.
