A baby girl who was miraculously brought back to life after being struck by lightning; a tween girl who obsessively dug up the skeletal remains of a 200-million years old 'fish lizard'; and the woman who ran a fossil-shop that was visited by the King—we dive into the story of Mary Anning's extraordinary life as an unheralded female paleontologist in 19th Century England in this episode.    We also contemplate on how many accomplished women's histories we fail to pay attention to when we travel, because they have either been erased, or overshadowed by men. This is the Working-Class woman movement: Celebrating International Women's Day 8th March 2024 “We need to do a better job of putting ourselves higher on our own ‘to-do' list.” —Michelle Obama,The campaign theme for International Women's Day this year is Inspire Inclusion. When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. The statement is collectively let's forge a more inclusive world for women stands as a very imperative statement. I pose the question can we collectively forge a more inclusive world, when its women themselves that create an environment that isn't inclusive. “When the treatment of women is not equitable, we must take action.”Lets hear the thoughts of other women and where they stand with the question posed. We are the working class women movement using our voices in hopes they do not fall on death ears..Subscribe on show link for more content. Not typically a big fan of club culture or dance music, Working Class Woman is Marie Davidson's statement on turning the mirror toward herself. A reflection of her time living in Berlin and a comment on the unique difficulties of operating within dance music and club spheres as a female. Working Class Woman is direct, expansive and a product of personal process. An example of looking inward to project a vision of the world. Legendary electronic artist Suzanne Ciani welcomes Marie Davidson, Sui Zhen, and Lorenzo Senni. Suzanne is based in San Francisco and has been nominated for five Grammy Awards. She was the first woman to score a major Hollywood film, and was the first female voice to be used on a computer game. Marie Davidson is a French-Canadian musician, and one of the world’s most exciting electronic producers. Her most recent record, Working Class Woman, considers “the stresses and strains of operating within the spheres of dance music and club culture”. Lorenzo Senni is a Milan-based electronic music producer, composer and visual artist, and has composed for cinema and theatre. He has even created an installation designed to comfort people in the intensive care unit of a hospital. And Sui Zhen is an experimental pop and performance artist from Melbourne, Australia, whose work focuses on the intersections between human life and technology. Joining from different timezones across the planet, they’ll dicuss what it’s like to release an album, the importance of human interactions with machines, and how they first discovered their beloved synths.

Marie Davidson’s electronic music showcases elements of self confidence, detached humour, and open-hearted empathy. She developed the latter quality in the mid 2000s as a co-founder of the Montreal collectively run art space La Brique, which provided an early playground for artists such as Grimes, Dirty Beaches, and Tonstartssbandht. Davidson joined Xarah Dion in the experimental duo Les Momies de Palerme (Constellation Records) before founding Essaie Pas (DFA) with her husband Pierre Guerineau, and exploding as a solo artist. After touring worldwide to support her Ninja Tune debut Working Class Woman, she experienced a period of burnout, taking off the past 12 months as a sabbatical. In this conversation, Davidson hints at her upcoming return with a rock-based trio album set for release in fall 2020.

Marie Davidson is a self-confessed workaholic. Her fourth album ‘Working Class Woman’, released in October of last year, is perhaps her most self-reflective to date. A veteran of the global club music scene, her most recent album is some of her most introspective, cutting work to date, and she’s ready to poke fun at the industry she’s spent her career navigating. She sat down with Chal Ravens, journalist and host of Red Bull Radio’s ‘Top Flight’, before Marie’s performance at Field Day festival in London.
