This week, the AI clown car somehow shifted into another gear. Apple is suing OpenAI over alleged trade-secret theft, newspapers accuse ChatGPT of training on stolen journalism while asking a judge to sanction the company, Anthropic is out here marketing AI with what looks like a feature-length anxiety attack, and Meta managed to launch—and kill—a creepy AI photo feature in less time than it takes to binge The Bear. Meanwhile, AI Appreciation Day wants you to thank the machines, but we'd rather thank the people still creating actual art while the rest of Silicon Valley burns cash convincing us the next chatbot is definitely different this time.Outside the AI bubble, the rest of the tech industry isn't exactly inspiring confidence. Volkswagen is cutting back on its lineup, New York paused new AI data centers before the electrical grid hits its limit, Europe and the UK are getting serious about keeping kids off social media, and publishers are finally realizing maybe feeding Google's AI isn't the best business move after all. Add in surveillance companies sulking over lost police contracts, lawsuits claiming Meta let algorithms decide who gets fired, smart glasses disqualifying cyclists, and a new pile of orbital junk threatening the satellites we depend on, and it's another reminder that "move fast and break things" eventually leaves you ankle-deep in broken glass.Of course, we still made time for the important stuff: Project Hail Mary, Black Bag, the return of Middle-earth with The Hunt for Gollum and rumors that OpenAI's "revolutionary” gadget might just be a smart speaker with delusions of grandeur. Throw in digital piano repairs, anti-data-center lawn signs, AI trying to sell solar panels, too much stuff at Downtown Disney, and you get another week where reality out-satirizes satire itself. As always, never build your house in someone else's backyard, and maybe don't let the chatbot build it either.Sponsors:CleanMyMac - Get Tidy Today! In this bonus Watch Out Now episode of Black and Snerdy, Ode (@thatsod.e / @thatsod_e) and Mo "Kid" Licorish (@licorishislegit) break down Gore Verbinski and Matthew Robinson's film Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die with scene‑level attention: the diner setup at Norm's, Sam Rockwell's time‑looping man from the future, and vignettes centered on teachers Janet and Mark, Ingrid's Wi‑Fi allergy, and a grief‑and‑clone subplot. The hosts map the film's major themes including sentient AI, tech addiction and VR escape, time‑loop mechanics, and the social resonance of school violence. All while noting Black Mirror echoes of the film's story.Ode and Mo trace how the movie ties each character's backstory to the team's mission, discuss casting highlights (Sam Rockwell, Haley Lou Richardson, Zazie Beetz, Michael Peña, Juno Temple), and debate narrative choices such as the clone‑with‑ads concept and the rats/plague metaphor. The episode ends with both hosts rating the film and reflections on rewatch value.Connect with the Snerdy Crew:Watch, Listen, or Sponsor the show: https://beacons.ai/blackandsnerdy

DP James Whitaker, ASC breaks down the look of HBO's DTF St. Louis: street photographs, a brutalist style police station, and inobtrusively lighting intimacy. Podcast highlights include: -How street photography, not cinema, was the right reference point for shooting ordinary suburbs. -What led to the unusual set design and lighting of one of the key locations, featuring a brutalist interior that feels right out of Eastern Europe. -Engineering a remote-controlled lighting rig for the show's many intimate scenes, so that the mood never had to be broken. "Music videos were an avenue for women to break into directing, which was really important at the time. A lot of women basically got their start directing music videos because nobody wanted to do them... until they became super popular." — Susan Lambert HatemThe great mid-season packing and moving marathon continues! In the second half of this double-header special, hosts Susan Lambert Hatem and Sharon Johnson return to count down the remaining legendary music videos that defined the MTV golden era. As they sort through decades of personal boxes, memorabilia, and old memories, they track the evolution of 1980s visual storytelling—from simple performance videos to cinematic masterpieces.Along the way, they highlight the unsung female directing pioneers who shaped the medium and share unforgettable insider Hollywood stories involving space shuttles, Aerosmith rehearsals, and the infinite grace of Whitney Houston. Grab your headphones and join the ladies for the final leg of this high-energy, nostalgic tour down memory lane!THE CONVERSATIONThe Mid-Season Packing Hiatus: Susan and Sharon share an update on their respective moves, navigating the emotional and physical heavy lifting of downsizing and uncovering hidden historical gems in old storage boxes.Female Directing Pioneers: The ladies discuss how music videos served as a vital gateway for groundbreaking female filmmakers like Mary Lambert and Penelope Spheeris at a time when traditional Hollywood doors were shut.Choreographers Step Out Front: Sharon breaks down Paula Abdul's iconic black-and-white debut for "Straight Up" (directed by David Fincher), mapping her legendary transition from behind-the-scenes Laker Girl choreographer to a front-and-center music superstar.Classic 80s Cameos & Cameo's Word Up: A celebration of Cameo's "Word Up" featuring a remarkably baby-faced LeVar Burton as an overwhelmed police officer, alongside a dive into the origins of the phrase "wave your hands in the air like you don't care."The Reality of the Road: A look at Bon Jovi's cowboy-tinged "Wanted Dead or Alive" leads to a touching tribute to the grueling, marathon work ethic required of touring bands traveling from city to city.Sepia Tones & Lake Pedal Boats: Susan explores the Americana aesthetic of Rod Stewart & Jeff Beck's "People Get Ready" cover, pulling back the curtain on a rare 1965 pre-MTV performance by The Impressions filmed on pedal boats with the young stars of Dick Clark's Where The Action Is.Susan's Disney & Cape Canaveral Tales: Susan shares an extraordinary behind-the-scenes story from her time in Disney broadcast publicity, recounting the legendary, high-budget Armageddon premiere launch party where Aerosmith played a private rehearsal concert directly in front of a lit-up space shuttle.Sharon's Oscar Rehearsal Memories: Sharon looks back on attending Academy Award rehearsals, offering a beautiful memory of Whitney Houston's profound kindness and grace toward a young fan while at the rehearsal for her iconic duet with Mariah Carey. The Welder with a Dream: The ladies champion Irene Cara's "Flashdance... What a Feeling" as an essential piece of 1980s feminist representation, reflecting on the film's rousing choreography and the publicity crew's spontaneous cubicle performances of "Armageddon: The Musical." But Susan wonders if the movie holds up on a rewatch?Fan Favorite Reruns Coming Up! To give the hosts time to complete their big moves, 80s TV Ladies announces an exciting lineup of fan-favorite rebroadcasts featuring insightful interviews with writer Nicole Levy and legendary showrunner Susan Fales-Hill exploring the legacy of A Different World.AUDIO-OGRAPHY

An update from Coach Ben about the TBTL Junior Sluggers leads to a conversation about stirrup socks and laundry etiquette. Luke offers an impromptu review of the Sam Rockwell time travel movie Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die. And a TBTL Ten gets a new job that is very relevant to Andrew's interests.
While films had been made to promote music dating back to at least the 1960s, the music video became a fixture of pop culture in the 1980s. Accelerated by the birth of MTV, MuchMusic, and VH1, music videos in the 80s experienced extraordinary growth in both popularity and artistic creativity. The decade would produce countless iconic music videos, giving renowned artists a second shot at relevancy, launching a whole new wave of aesthetically minded pop stars, and providing unlikely artists a shot at ubiquity with wild conceptual videos. So join the Great Pop Culture Debate as we attempt to name the Best 1980s Music Video!Videos discussed: “Take On Me” by A-HA!; “Thriller” by Michael Jackson; “Like a Prayer” by Madonna”; “Sledgehammer” by Peter Gabriel; “Love Shack” by The B-52s; “Addicted to Love” by Robert Palmer; “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper; “You Can Call Me Al” by Paul Simon; “Money for Nothing” by Dire Straits; “Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran; “When Doves Cry” by Prince; “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles; “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)” by Beastie Boys; “Faith” by George Michael; “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitey Houston; “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie TylerJoin host Eric Rezsnyak and panelists Derek Mekita, John Higgins, and Kate Racculia as they discuss and debate 16 of the most iconic music videos that defined 80s airwaves. For the warm-up to this episode, in which we discuss additional 1980s videos that didn't make the bracket, become a Patreon supporter of the podcast today. Three very different 2026 releases, one shared question: what does modern genre filmmaking actually produce anymore? Amazon's The Bluff, directed by Frank E. Flowers and produced by the Russo Brothers, was built as a global star vehicle for Priyanka Chopra—an efficient pirate revenge story designed for streaming scale. Netflix countered with War Machine, Patrick Hughes' $80M military sci-fi spectacle starring Alan Ritchson, originally intended for theaters but ultimately optimized for worldwide engagement, pulling Predator-style structure into algorithm-friendly action. And then there's Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die—Gore Verbinski's first film in nearly a decade, a long-gestating, director-driven sci-fi comedy led by Sam Rockwell, released theatrically and drawing attention as a rare original swing in a franchise-heavy market. Together, these films sparked conversation not just about content, but about process—three models of development, distribution, and authorship colliding in real time.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Luke and Griffin discuss the 2025 sci-fi movie "Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die" feat. guest Keegan Cenzano.
Episode 303 of We Seen'T It brings special guest Daniel Skinner into the mix as the crew dives headfirst into all things movies, madness, and “what if” scenarios. The episode kicks off with a lively discussion about the Academy Awards, breaking down highlights, surprises, and everything worth talking about from Hollywood's biggest night. From there, the guys jump into fresh trailers—especially the latest look at Spider-Man—and share their thoughts on what's coming next in the world of film. They also catch up on what they've been watching lately, including Ready or Not 2, a space-centered flick starring Ryan Gosling that Daniel checked out, and Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die, rounding out a trio of standout movie experiences. But it wouldn't be We Seen'T It without going off the rails—in the best way. The conversation takes a hilarious and creative turn as the group debates what the world would look like if superheroes were real… and more importantly, what kind of corporate sponsorships they'd rock on their suits. From brand deals to personal picks, the guys imagine which companies they'd rep if they had powers and how fun (and ridiculous) superhero marketing could get. It's movies, laughs, and wild imagination all rolled into one—Episode 303 is one you don't want to miss.
