Het verhaal volgt de laatste overlevende Ninja Turtle in een dystopische toekomst, op een wraakmissie tegen Oroku Hiroto, kleinzoon van Shredder. Eastman noemt het een “liefdesgedicht” aan Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns: losstaand van de canon, maar diep geworteld in de Mirage-comics. Paramount en Nickelodeon ontwikkelen de film als een ruigere, mogelijk R-rated adaptatie. Volgens Eastman is dit “de juiste aanpak” om deze afsluitende Turtle-saga tot leven te brengen. Scorpion keert terug voor Spider-Man: Brand New DayMichael Mando keert terug als Mac Gargan/Scorpion in Spider-Man: Brand New Day en hint op Instagram naar twee grote onthullingen: een comic-accurate groene Scorpion-suit met mechanische staart én een mogelijke transformatie tot Venom. In de comics is Gargans Venom een brute, onvoorspelbare kracht – veel gewelddadiger dan Eddie Brock. Als Marvel dat pad volgt, kan Gargan evolueren van straatcrimineel tot dodelijke “protector”.
