Subject matter is the 2026 film Scream 7. Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott Evans and Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers return to another psycho returns to bring back the past. @sdotfoster8
Did we REALLY need a Scream 7?That's the question I found myself asking when yet another Ghostface movie arrived. After all, this franchise has been stabbing its way through horror history for nearly three decades. But when Scream 7 hit Paramount+, there was no way I wasn't going to watch it.In this spoiler-lite review, I dive into what worked, what didn't, whether Neve Campbell's return as Sidney Prescott was worth the hype, how the movie connects the classic and modern eras of the franchise, and whether Ghostface still has enough tricks left to keep longtime horror fans entertained. Is this one of the better recent Scream entries?Did the filmmakers successfully recapture some of the magic of the original?Or is this franchise finally running on fumes?Let's talk about it.If you've seen Scream 7, let me know your thoughts in the comments. Did it work for you, or is it time to finally hang up the Ghostface mask?
Kevin Bacon and Denise Richards bared nearly all, respectively, in 1998's Wild Things. Yes, the steamy, sexy, swampy thriller left no champagne bottle unturned. The movie was a modest hit with audiences and critics, thanks, in part, to a promised threesome scene with Richards, Matt Dillon, and Neve Campbell. But now, decades later, were audiences the ones getting screwed? Was Campbell the best casting choice for a girl raised in a swamp? And what's Bill Murray doing in this thing? The Old Roommates set sail and give it all a revisit through their middle-aged lens. Hop on a gator and join them.Follow Old Roommates on social media @OldRoommates for bonus content and please give us a rating or review!#JohnMcNaughton #MattDillon #DeniseRichards #NeveCampbell #KevinBacon #BillMurray
Scream 7, the latest installment in the franchise has gone viral since the release but this time, it's a new Ghostface who is on the mission to kill Sidney and seems to be hardcore about it making the movie a solid entry that improved the series with some nostalgic moments. The movie has been described as a devilish roller coaster ride that satisfies both laughter and scares. Stab, you're it! I had the pleasure of sitting down and speaking to Kyle about his role in the newest installment of the Scream Universe. We spoke about what the audition process was like, the concept behind his character, the atmosphere of the set, what it was like to be directed by the original creator of the franchise, and to work alongside Neve Campbell. Now that Cyle has joined the cast, he is now a part of two separate clubs: “Killed by Ghostface” Club and the “Opening Kill” Club. Which certainly paves the way for this young and talented actor's career in which I feel will definitely resonate with the younger generation. Although we do not witness Aaron's kill on screen, there's the possibility that he might be brought back in another film from the Scream Franchise. Let's cross our fingers and bring Cyle back to the universe. You can now buy or rent Scream 7 on YouTube, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play Movies, and Fandango at Home.
Celebrating Scream 4's 15th anniversary, this episode dives into Wes Craven's return to Woodsboro and Kevin Williamson's razor-sharp screenplay. We revisit the film's killer mix of nostalgia and new shocks, spotlighting the standout performances of Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette, along with Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, and an all-star supporting cast—Anthony Anderson, Alison Brie, Adam Brody, Rory Culkin, Erik Knudsen, Marielle Jaffe, Nico Tortorella, Marley Shelton, and Mary McDonnell. Listen in for behind-the-scenes stories, a breakdown of the film's twists and meta-horror sensibilities, and reflections on its lasting impact on the franchise as an entry that was way ahead of its time. Joining in for this discussion is Alex and Dean of the Return Revenge Resurrection podcast to throw in their expertise as to why Scream 4 has emerged as the fan favorite of the franchise all these years later.Link For Guests: Return Revenge ResurrectionWhere To Watch Scream 4

We talk about the Scream meta-slasher film franchise, from the original Wes Craven /Kevin Williamson 1996 debut starring Neve Campbell, and Courtney Cox to the new one (#7), still with three out of four of those participants (Wes Craven being dead). Is the self-reflection about the horror genre in these films actually elevating, or just a permission structure to enjoy the base pleasure of seeing people murdered? Are these actually films that people who normally hate slasher movies still might enjoy? Get more at prettymuchpop.com. In the tradition of Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, producers said t wait long to green light a sequel once 2022's Scream was a certified hit. Sure enough, a script was churned out that put a whole new spin on the Friday the 13th Part VIII Jason Takes Manhattan. Let's just call it, Scream Takes Manhattan. But, as with all Scream productions, there were problems. Not the least of which was Scream mainstay Neve Campbell did not like the offer that was put on her table to come back. When producers did not budge, Campbell put out a statement that she would not be coming back and she wished the franchise well. Put a pin in that for next week. In the meantime, Courtney Cox's Gail Weathers was coming back, along with all survivors from next week, along with Hayden Panattiere's Kirby, for an adventure/horror story that takes obsession with serial killers to a whole new level. Join the Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast as they get into the logistics of 2023's Scream 6, and Garrett and Adam once again watch an entry in this series for the very first time. Listen to Garrett get giddy over the return of Kirby and Adam obsesses over Samara Weaving. And of course there's the controversy and review. Come back next week as The Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast closes out the Scream series by reviewing Scream 7, as well as reveal what series they're starting next!
In this show we travel back to 1996 and revisit the original Scream, Wes Craven's ground-breaking meta-horror movie starring Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Rose MacGowan and Matthew Lillard!

In 2011, it was not good luck to wait 11 years to bring the band back together and do another Scream film. Scream 4 lost money, and plans to continue that trilogy went by the wayside. Flash forward another 11 years. 2022 brought back key players like David Arquette and Neve Campbell, while ushering in a new batch of kids. But without Kevin Williamson writing the script, and new series scribes/directors Radio Silence taking the helm, how does 2022's Scream entry add up?? Join Garrett and Adam (both watching Scream 2022 for the very first time) as well as Matt as they review the certified hit and decide whether it should be built upon. And keep coming back as the guys are leading to a review of the new sequel Scream 7!

It's March, so that means it's time for our “Get Your Ass to March” series! Where we cover movies that relate to the planet Mars and/or the 1990 sci-fi classic, Total Recall! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and returning guest Chrissy Kurpeski discuss the other Mars exploration movie from the year 2000, Red Planet! Cool space suits! Early thousand's internet culture! Forced acronyms! Some of the most explosions you've ever seen on Mars! Low gravity bathroom breaks! Fiery, homicidal bugs! Charmingly outdated VFX! An out of place trip hop soundtrack! One of the same writers as Virus and Barb Wire! Fun miniature effects! Zero gravity fire! Life-saving algebra! A flexi-screen IBM tablet! A whimsical Russian space mascot! Extreme efforts to terraform a dead planet when they could be fixing Earth! A behind-the-scenes feud between two actors! A great cast that includes Benjamin Bratt, a wasted Terence Stamp, Carrie-Anne Moss relegated to a single filming location, Val Kilmer playing a character (possibly) named after a prop comic, Tom Sizemore as a scientist who might not know what he's doing, and Simon Baker is there too! All that and more in this movie that may deserve its fairly negative reputation! In addition, Chrissy shares her spoiler-free thoughts on Mickey 17, while Alex does the same for Expend4bles, the new Milla Jovovich action thriller Protector, and Scream 7! Now he's back, coming off the success of “Scream 7,” for an in-depth, SPOILER-FILLED discussion about this record-breaking installment. Eleven years after the release of Scream 3, producers were ready to try again. Though the difference is this time, they didn't have too many schedules to work around. Everyone from Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette, not to mention director Wes Craven, had nothing else going on and were ready to play in the Scream sandbox again. Though Craven did have some some standards. If he was coming back, Kevin Williamson had to return to write it and the script had to be as good as the first film. So Williamson waited until a break in The Vampire Diaries TV show to churn out a script full of things Scream fans come to see. Yet, the fans didn't show up. Once Scream 4 was finally released in April of 2011, even with the inclusion of Heroes' Hayden Panetierre and the returning cast, the film landed with a thud. Is it warranted? Join Garrett, Matt, and Adam as they review the last film of the series that Garrett has seen. Be sure to return next week as they review Scream (2022), a film of which only Matt has seen. Remember, all this is a lead up to a review of the just released Scream 7!

Break out the spyglass! It’s time to forecast what is coming in 2026 We’ve got 2025 in the rear view window, and Hollywood has determined to not just relegate horror movies into the fall/Halloween schedule. Springtime apparently is a good time to have a big fear injection. So, we had to get the word out on movies you can anticipate coming to a theater near you! Admittedly, we’re out a little late this year. But, I would suggest we are just in time! Surprisingly, there are a lot of horror movies that are being released in late March. It also happens to be the eve of when many of the big genre film festivals get rolling. Sundance has just completed. SXSW is right on us now. Overlook is around the corner. So is Panic Fest. With these festivals, it sets the table for what you all can expect to come out this year. It becomes a bit of a guessing game for those of us who attend these festivals to predict what films are going to be on the schedule. Horror has proven to be profitable in what used to be a dead period for box office. Already, both Iron Lung ($50 million on a $3 million budget) and Send Help ($92 Million) opened up strong in January, traditionally the dumping ground for cast-off studio films. With the tremendous profitability and critical response to last year’s crop of films, we will see what will become this year’s banner carrier. My guess? Scream 7. There isn’t a studio backed big prestige movie like Sinners or Weapons this year, but I could very easily see a Neve Campbell led Scream 7 into a $300 million earner, much like Final Destinations: Bloodline from last year. If Scream 7 lives up to its potential, it could fly past that number. I don’t think that the effect of last year’s horror boom will be felt until next year’s crop. The studios didn’t have enough time to understand the influence until the season largely wrapped in October, well after prduction had wrapped for most films getting released for 2026. A Good Year for Indie Films? The indie horror films are in abundance this year. SXSW has a huge roster of genre films. Overlook just announced their roster, and so has Panic Fest. Usually there is a lot of overlap, but not so much this year. That suggests a wide variety and a lot of options out there. An that’s not taking into account the large Summer and Fall festivals like Frightfest, Popcorn Frights, and Screamfest. As usual, there will be films that we didn’t see coming because they come with zero fanfare, but end up surprising us with original storytelling or raw savagery. Better yet… both! We always summarize what we did from the previous year, and I think we actually did pretty well in our selections for 2025. You can check out last year’s predictions HERE. Will 2026 be as solid for Scariest Things selections? Listen in, and remember this come the end of the year! Episode 209: Looking Forward to 2026 Note… we announced this one episode off. This week, Tommy is joined by actor Anna Camp, known for memorable roles across film and television, including Pitch Perfect, You, and now the latest chapter of the Scream franchise. That Ghostface killer just won't go away because while he's stacking bodies in these Scream movies, he's also stacking large stacks of cash for the movie studio. Therefore, I now present you “Scream 7”, the latest in the blood-soaked, big bucks franchise, started way back in 1996. In these movies, we're now in the era where the final girl from most of the early Scream movies, Neve Campbell as Sydney Prescott, has had movies and books written about Ghostface killers terrorizing her. She's a celebrity and she's back as the main character in this latest installment. Joining her from the 1996 movie cast is Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers, the former news reporter and now media personality. A major new player introduced in “Scream 7” is Sydney's daughter, Tatum, played by Isabel May and she's the typical rebellious, moody teenager girl who annoys her Mom. Throughout the course of this movie, she learns she needs her Mom, and her experience with the psycho killer in the mask and black robe. Will mother and daughter survive this movie? Is it worth going to the theater to find out? Find out in this episode of Movies Merica! “Scream 7” also stars Jasmin Savoy-Brown, Mason Gooding, Joel McHale, McKenna Grace, Anna Camp, Celeste O'Connor, Sam Rechner, Asa Germann, Matthew Lillard, Kraig Dane, Ethan Embry and Mark Consuelos. For this week's main podcast review, Katie Johnson, Dan Bayer, and Aaron Isenstein join me to discuss the latest film in the "Scream" franchise, "Scream 7" with Neve Campbell, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard, and Courteney Cox reprising their roles from the previous films, and Isabel May, Anna Camp, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Mckenna Grace, Asa Germann, Celeste O'Connor, Sam Rechner, Mark Consuelos, Tim Simons, and Joel McHale also starring. Following the exit of "Scream" (2022) and "Scream VI" directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett in August 2023, Christopher Landon was hired to direct the film. However, the film underwent creative retooling after the firing of star Melissa Barrera and the departure of Jenna Ortega in late 2023, with Landon also leaving the project. In March 2024, Campbell confirmed her return to the franchise after being absent from the last film, with series creator Kevin Williamson hired to direct the film after serving as writer and producer on the early films in the series. This latest entry follows a new Ghostface killer who targets Sidney Prescott's daughter. After all the controversy surrounding its production, what did we think of the final product? Tune in as we discuss the story, its use of legacy characters, its themes of AI technology and generational trauma, the brutal kills, the franchise's future, and more in our SPOILER-FILLED review.
